I did some experiments with merging the default-created config with my old
config and the line causing the trouble is this one:
Starter Profile Name=start
I have profile of this name and I can select it, seems to

No, for me saving the position does not work. After restart I still get
reverted to the additional columns.
I am on Arch Linux.
