I'm running X11, not Wayland.
No ibus daemon running.
I'll try with Wayland tomorrow or wednesday if I can.

My formulation is indeed a bit clumsy.
I mean I get the base character instead of the suited accentuated one.
E.g. : ^ + a gives "a" instead of
