            Bug ID: 391097
Summary: Session freezes randomly with nvidia drivers
           Product: kwin
           Version: 5.12.2
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: scene-opengl
          Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
          Reporter: 842m...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

This is more of an nvidia bug but it didn't use to happen in normal Ubuntu
(with unity).

I have an nvidia GTX 770 card and I have the proprietary drivers installed
(390.25). Frequently kwin crashes. (not sure if specifically kwin). What
happens is that plasma just freezes. I can only move the mouse. I can get to
the tty.

in dmesg I see segmentation fault in libnvidia-glcore.so.390.25

This mostly happens when I activate "show desktop grid".

Right now I open a tty and do `sudo systemctl restart sddm` but this is
effectively a new session and everything I was doing is lost. Is there some
workaround with which I can restore my current session?

In the compositor's settings I tried opengl 2 and 3.1 and xrender
