If you don't like this behavior, uncheck "Use different colors for inactive
selections" (it's below "Apply effects to inactive windows").

I simply can't believe that this is the expected behavior. When you're using
dolphin, for example, the places pane is "desaturated" if you select a file,
but obviously you want it fully saturated for better contrast. Li
