Bug ID: 415313 Summary: Severe kwin_x11 (on amdgpu) compositing performance regression: bisected to 00bf75d06 Product: kwin Version: git master Platform: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: compositing Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: 1i5t5.dun...@cox.net Target Milestone: --- git kwin_x11 (on amdgpu/polaris 11) can currently be effectively unusable: can take minutes to switch windows with various effects on and a video playing (or trying to), tho it's only "a bit choppy" if I turn the trouble effects off and don't try doing too much window managing at once without stopping to let kwin catch up. KWIN_USE_INTEL_SWAP_EVENT=0 kwin_x11 --replace doesn't appear to help (it's an AMD CPU and GPU but I thought I'd try it). Problem effects (that I normally run and had to turn off until I could bisect) are wobbly-windows, pretty much all of the popup-sliding/fading/etc stuff, blur-behind, and repeat-zoom (as with key auto-repeat, seems kwin can process about 5 zoom events a second, gets behind if auto-repeat is set any higher). Bisected to 00bf75d06, so I'm pinned one commit back from that at a55dee3bd for the moment. This is with current kwin HEAD d72e96802 (gentoo/kde overlay live-git packages for kde-frameworks and plasma). Two big-screen 4k TVs as monitors in side-by-side configuration, if it matters. kwin_x11 reports (I don't see qt version listed, it's 5.14.0): OpenGL vendor string: X.Org OpenGL renderer string: AMD Radeon (TM) RX 460 Graphics (POLARIS11, DRM 3.35.0, 5.4.0-dirty, LLVM 9.0.1) OpenGL version string: 4.5 (Core Profile) Mesa 19.3.0 OpenGL shading language version string: 4.50 Driver: RadeonSI GPU class: Arctic Islands OpenGL version: 4.5 GLSL version: 4.50 Mesa version: 19.3 X server version: 1.20.6 Linux kernel version: 5.4 Requires strict binding: no GLSL shaders: yes Texture NPOT support: yes Virtual Machine: no -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
