I typed "kquitapp5 plasmashell" in a terminal window. Plasmashell was killed. I
then typed "gdb plasmashell" in the same terminal window. I could see the (gdb)
prompt in that terminal window,

The only two desktop effects I activated were: (i) Desktop cube and (ii) Magic
lamp. I disabled them and the crashes did not go away. This is what I have in
Compositor (enabled on startup):
