Bug ID: 388279 Summary: Folder view (plasmoid/desktop) doesn't refresh when changes are made to a NTFS folder Product: plasmashell Version: master Platform: unspecified OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: Folder Assignee: h...@kde.org Reporter: wond.mat...@myself.com CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 I always set up dual booting systems by replacing the Linux user folders (Desktop, Documents, Pictures, etc.) with symbolic links to their corresponding user folders in the Windows' filesystem, like this: bash-4.1$ ls -l /home/pluto/ total 0 drwxr-xr-x 1 pluto users 16 Dec 27 17:41 Desktop -> /mnt/windows/Users/Pluto/Desktop drwxr-xr-x 1 pluto users 18 Dec 27 17:41 Documents -> /mnt/windows/Users/Pluto/Documents drwxr-xr-x 1 pluto users 18 Dec 27 17:41 Downloads -> /mnt/windows/Users/Pluto/Downloads drwxr-xr-x 1 pluto users 14 Dec 27 17:41 Music -> /mnt/windows/Users/Pluto/Music drwxr-xr-x 1 pluto users 17 Dec 27 17:41 Pictures -> /mnt/windows/Users/Pluto/Pictures drwxr-xr-x 1 pluto users 15 Dec 27 17:41 Videos -> /mnt/windows/Users/Pluto/Videos Whenever new files/directories are created/deleted or moved to/from the Desktop folder, this is not shown in the current view of the Desktop, and the only way to see what changed is to right-click on the desktop and select "refresh" the view from the menu. It doesn't matter: - whether using the default "classic" desktop view or the resizable Folder View plasmoid; - the program used for changing the contents of the Desktop directory: changes can be made from terminal or Dolphin or even from the Desktop itself by right-clicking on the icons and selecting for deleting items; - the hardware in use (happens on ALL of my computers - no exceptions); - the Linux distribution in use (happens in openSUSE, Ubuntu, Fedora and others); - the Windows/NTFS version in use (happens at least since Windows 7) - the version of KDE/Plasma Shell (happens since as far as I can remember - back in the KDE4 years - and up until now); - the age of the operating system (happens on the newly installed OS, right after the user folders are replaced with symlinks to the NTFS partition). Please note: as far as I can tell, this problem does NOT happen when the Desktop folder resides on the Linux partition (I use EXT4 for the /home directory, but I never leave the user folders there, so maybe native filesystems are also affected, but I cannot tell for sure) However, this problem is always reproducible when the desktop view points to the Windows desktop. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
