This idea actually stem from Windows XP: After a user disconnects a mounted
drive, say a USB stick, show her a notification which teaches her that this
action was unwisely and unsafe. If a GUI doesn’t show anything like that, users
will never learn.
[Feel free to sort this in under the right Plasma sub-project, I couldn’t
figure out what would be the right one.]
