Consider this the announcement. :) The decision was made only very recently.
It's not going to be removed for Plasma 5, only Plasma 6, which will be
released in 4 months.

Ah, that explains why lots of issues occur with that setting. Did I miss the
announcement about that deprecation?
I could have saved a bit of time, if I new that is effectively EOL.
