[dolphin] [Bug 370261] segfault on pressing Del key

2016-10-08 Thread Glukhov Nikita via KDE Bugzilla

> Works for me with the very same Archlinux package. Any chance you were
> running the Plasma Wayland session? (in which case this could be bug 362899)

I'm 100% sure that it was usual XOrg-server session because (offtopic) SDDM
doesn't even allow me to start Wayland session - all that I get further is
black sreen and insensitivity to any key press.

That's my backtrace. It shows there had been a call to askDeleteConfirmation()
but modal dialog corresponding to this call was not painted.

Stefan, can you please supply the project files? In particular, what is the
root attribute of the mlt element which is at the root of the kdenlive project
file? It should not matter whether the resource paths are relative or absolute.
Do you start Kdenlive always in the same way? From which path?

I don't see any way to implement this in any sensible manner, especially as our
encoding engine is ffmpeg, and ffmpeg to the best of my knowledge doesn't
implement any render output prediction. From my own projects I know that I have
footage that causes high variations in rendered output size, depending on the
kind of footage. So a short clip of real video causes 25% growth, despite being
only 40s as opposed to 15mins of total runtime.

On a recent Kdenlive installed from project ppas on Kubuntu 16.04LTS, I
properly see vidstab and can successfully run the vidstab job. I remember
seeing some fix for the job detection, but this should not be at the root cause
of this bug report.

I suspect this to be a distro packaging issue. Can you please try installing
from development ppa first, then from stable ppa?

[kdenlive] [Bug 364318] git master: regression: effect is totally "ineffective" (with regression project)

2016-10-08 Thread Wegwerf via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=364318

--- Comment #4 from Wegwerf  ---
This issue is still present with recent git master: loading the example project
and playing the center clip in the timeline, the first ramp-up of blur works
correctly. But the ramp-down at the end doesn't work at all. All attempts at
editing, changing, removing, and readding the corresponding keyframes does not
yield any sensible result, as far as the final keyframe is concerned. The last
but one keyframe behaves correctly, though.

I've tried with recent frei0r/MLT fixes and a problematic project of mine where
I saw this kind of corruption as reported here; it's gone now. So I'm now
closing this as resolved fixed.

As for the Affine transition: a quick poll in our G+ community
(https://plus.google.com/103555172011502893674/posts/ijcVd2FsbKa) showed that
16% out of 31 Kdenlive users use Affine on a regular basis as their most-used
transition.

Deprecating Affine won't do much good, me thinks.

Emanual, this kind of bug is ugly, and as I experienced it myself I can
understand your sentiment. In order to track down such timeline corruption
issues, we need a (minimized) example project, together with a concise
description of the steps required to reproduce. There is no other way we can
help you. I know from experience, as I sent in several such bug reports over
time, where only the clear step list together with an example project helped
the developers to fix those bugs. Thank you very much for your cooperation!

There appears to be a problem if 'digikamimagewindowui.rc' is copied during the
~/.kde4/share/apps/digikam/ to ~/.local/share/digikam/ migration.

It results in the (digiKam) Image Editor losing from the Main Menu the sub-menu
entries for: 'Colour', 'Enhance', 'Decorate', and 'Effects'.

Please see this topic on the openSUSE user forum:
https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/520361-DigiKam-5-2-0-Image-Editor-missing-a-lot-of-functions

[plasmashell] [Bug 370306] no option to show 12-hour time without displaying the AM/PM part

2016-10-08 Thread Aaron Wolf via KDE Bugzilla

--- Comment #2 from Aaron Wolf  ---
So, what's the actual solution? I wasn't suggesting my patch as the solution
necessarily. I was wanting the problem addressed and just mentioned something
that could possibly work. I don't care about my solution being accepted, but I
want the issue resolved.

Without removing the AM/PM part of 12-hour time, I can't have a readably large
time in 12-hour numbers in a panel that is on the left or right side of the
screen!

[Spectacle] [Bug 370303] New: Infinite recursion leading to stack overflow under XWayland

2016-10-08 Thread Peter Wu via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370303

Bug ID: 370303
   Summary: Infinite recursion leading to stack overflow under
XWayland
   Product: Spectacle
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: m...@baloneygeek.com
  Reporter: pe...@lekensteyn.nl

While testing Spectacle in Weston+XWayland on top of Plasma (X11), it
segfaulted.

A stack trace showed recursive calls to getWindowPixmap with the same window
argument:

QPixmap X11ImageGrabber::getWindowPixmap(xcb_window_t window, bool
blendPointer)
{
...
if (xcbImage.isNull()) {
return getWindowPixmap(QX11Info::appRootWindow(), blendPointer)
.copy(geomReply->x, geomReply->y, geomReply->width,
geomReply->height);
}

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install xorg-server-xwayland and configure weston as described at
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/wayland#XWayland
2. Launch weston
3. Inside weston, launch Spectacle

Actual Results:
Segfault (stack overflow)

Expected Results:
A screenshot (or failing to do so, an error message explaining why).

xorg-server 1.18.4-1
plasma-workspace 5.8.0-1
spectacle 16.08.1-1 (happens on this version and on git)

So I'm seeing the same crash, and the crash happens inside

[kwin] [Bug 369317] Kwin crash with gles

--- Comment #9 from Martin Gräßlin  ---
I just had a look at the implementation and alas our code does the correct
checks - see libkwineffects/kwinglutils.cpp method GLVertexBuffer::initStatic
(around like 2290)

In  short it's:

if (GLPlatform::instance()->isGLES()) {
GLVertexBufferPrivate::haveSyncFences = hasGLVersion(3, 0);
} else {
GLVertexBufferPrivate::haveSyncFences = hasGLVersion(3, 2) ||
hasGLExtension("GL_ARB_sync");
}
if (GLVertexBufferPrivate::haveBufferStorage &&
GLVertexBufferPrivate::haveSyncFences) {
if (qgetenv("KWIN_PERSISTENT_VBO") != QByteArrayLiteral("0")) {
GLVertexBufferPrivate::streamingBuffer->d->persistent = true;
}
}

Only if the d->persistent is true the glFenceSync is called. Thus the checks
look correct to me. We check for either GLES 3.0, or GL 3.2 or GL_ARB_sync. Our
code cannot do more. If the upstream project is broken in that regard, it's
unfortunate. I guess we need to get distros to switch to the fork.

Ah I'm not happy with that development. That was kind of what I was afraid of
to happen when we switch to epoxy.

[krusader] [Bug 370304] New: filelight crash after deleting directory with many small files.

2016-10-08 Thread Volker Siegel via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370304

Bug ID: 370304
   Summary: filelight crash after deleting directory with many
small files.
   Product: krusader
   Version: 2.4.0-beta3 "Single Step"
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: m...@fork.pl
  Reporter: m...@volker-siegel.de

Application: krusader (2.4.0-beta3 "Single Step")
KDE Platform Version: 4.14.13
Qt Version: 4.8.6
Operating System: Linux 4.2.0-42-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 15.10

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
  I had deleted a directory containing many files from the context menu:
  It was ~/.cache/chromium/Default (chromium not running; Something like 300 MB
in size.)
  I waited for the filelight view to update (not sure it normally does). It was
blocked for some seconds, I think.
  I clicked into the filelight view. Then crashed.

- Unusual behavior I noticed:

  None. But I use a hand-written xsession, so the combination of running
programs is certainly unusual.

- Custom settings of the application:
   None.

I don't think the already complex and broken logic in the digital clock should
be complicated further. Your patch also won't work for other languages as it's
not necessarily "am" / "pm" and we would need a configurable option for that.

Thank you very much for providing the example clip. I can add it to a project,
and play it back, without any problems. This is on Kubuntu 16.04LTS with recent
updates, and Kdenlive/MLT from git master Kdenlive ppa repository. So this
clearly is not an Kdenlive issue, but a distribution issue, and thus upstream.
Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about it.

Some update about this:
The Qt-bug is not fixed:
https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-54676
But I pushed a workaround in master so it shouldn't be a problem anymore.

The KDE Frameworks bug is still not fixed despite my patch proposal, I just
pinged the Frameworks maintainer:
https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/128421/

So it still causes CPU usage and prevents going to sleep. I hope we can find a
solution for KDE Framewors 5.28.

2016-10-08 Thread Phillip Sear via KDE Bugzilla

--- Comment #3 from Phillip Sear  ---
I have just added my standard project file, which I use to create the videos,
and I hope this shows how they are rendered. A typical path for a completed
video is: /home/phillip/Videos/Bernhard Lufer Zu Grossvaters Zeiten1 18 4
1896.mp4 . The file title includes all the elements I use in the YouTube video
description (I use Kdenlive to create videos for YouTube). It is just that the
automatic playback of created videos does not work, because the filename seems
to be split up. I never had this problem with versions of Kdenlive prior to
16.08.

Do let me know if you need any further information.

Regards,
Phillip Sear

[plasmashell] [Bug 370306] New: no option to show 12-hour time without displaying the AM/PM part

2016-10-08 Thread Aaron Wolf via KDE Bugzilla
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370306

Bug ID: 370306
   Summary: no option to show 12-hour time without displaying the
AM/PM part
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.8.0
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Digital Clock
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: wolft...@gmail.com

because the space used by Digital Clock is relevant to the font-size and the
fit in various contexts, the ability to hide the AM/PM part of 12-hour time is
valuable. Of course, anyone viewing local time knows whether it is morning or
evening already without the AM/PM part, so it really isn't necessary.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Uncheck 24-hour time
2. Notice that the 12-hour time always shows the AM/PM part and no option is
available to hide that

Here is a modification that successfully hides the AM/PM part:

In
`/usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.digitalclock/contents/ui/DigitalClock.qml`,
replace
`return Qt.formatTime(currentTime, main.timeFormat);`
with
`return Qt.formatTime(currentTime, 'h:mm ap').replace(' am', '').replace(' pm',
'');`

The only trouble is that the time can now be large enough to bump into the date
when that is shown. Some additional modification should be added to ensure some
small margin between the date and time.

   Version: 5.8.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: elvis.angelac...@kde.org
CC: bhus...@gmail.com, plasma-b...@kde.org

Hi, I was not sure where to file this report, so please move it to the right
component if necessary.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. $ kcmshell5 colors
2. Click Defaults
3. Click Apply

Actual Results:
http://imgur.com/a/dSAYk

Expected Results:
Windows and plasma panels should still be visible.

I'm using Xorg, I had Breeze (non dark) as default theme set.

Note that neither 'killall plasmashell; plasmashell' nor 'kwin_x11 --replace'
helped.

However, I was able to workaround the bug by running 'kcmshell5
kcm_lookandfeel' and switching the breeze style (e.g. from Breeze to Breeze
Dark or viceversa).

Cannot reproduce. Depending on the filling stage of MLT/ffmpeg decoder queues,
and the complexity of the clips, when you start timeline playback near a
transition, playback may stutter. Usually, another replay will have allowed MLT
and ffmpeg to cache enough decoded frames. You may also try timeline preview
rendering, in case the stuttering is actually caused by video, not audio.

I found that, after this crash, there where still files left to delete (137
MB).
So it crashed during deleting files - looks like it was triggered by
interacting with the UI during deleting.

Also, I had a similar crash later, and noticed that there was a lot of X
request traffic while the UI was blocked. (There was some window getting and
loosing the focus about 6 times per second, flickering the focus highlight. )

I was running compiz, and, as an assumption based on the CPU loads, krusader
created requests at about 20% CPU core load, making X and compiz running at
about 100% CPU each.

Thanks Gilles, but the buf is solved in exiv2, I posted in the middle of the

***
But googling around Ive found this bug (Crash in exiv2 due to assertion when
setting rating on jpg with a Casio makernote):
http://dev.exiv2.org/issues/1106

I'm using Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 with the packages provided by Philip Johnsson, and
I had not installed exiv2. So I tried to install it:

$ sudo apt-get install exiv2
$ exiv2 --version
exiv2 0.25 001900 (64 bit build)
Copyright (C) 2004-2015 Andreas Huggel.

and restarted digikam. Now it's working fine!
***

So maybe it's the internal exiv2 version that Digikam uses?

Before installing exiv2 I got this error (virtual

and after installing the package I got no errors, just an ignored warning

Rotoscoping effect is known to crash in the Kdenlive 16.08.x versions. This was
fixed in git master and will be released as Kdenlive 16.12 in december.

The Chroma Key crash is something different. Can you get a backtrace ?

Btw, this seems to be a general problem with kcmshell5, regardless of the
module.
(of course modules with fewer options are unlikely to be larger than the
screen...)
