2018-12-22 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100016

Git commit 7bd7f38400b953a988a2cc942a518339e0b094a8 by Nate Graham.
Committed on 23/12/2018 at 04:14.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'.

[KRun] when asked to open link in external browser, fall back to mimeapps.list
if nothing is set in kdeglobals

Summary:
Right now, when KRun is invoked to open an `http` or `https` link in a browser,
it checks the `BrowserApplication` key in `~/.config/kdeglobals`. If nothing is
set there (which is the default), then it introspects the link and figures out
for itself what app to open, which is slow and can cause problems with certain
links (see CCBUGs below).

This patch improves the browser discovery logic by additionally looking for a
default browser in `~/.config/mimeapps.list`, which is the XDG file and it's
where browsers set themselves as the default. So if there is a default browser
set in there, KRun will consume that information immediately instead of doing
the time-consuming and possibly error-inducing link introspection round-trip.
Related: bug 347870

Test Plan:
1. Open System Settings > Applications > Default Applications > Browser and
click "In an application based on the contents of the url" (which is the
default setting, but you might have changed it)
2. Set `BrowserApplication[$e]=` in `~/.config/kdeglobals`
3. Ensure that `~/.config/mimeapps/list` has a default browser set
4. Open any KDE app > Help menu > About KDE > Click on one of the links in the
dialog

Without this patch, a KRun job is spawned that shows up in the notification
widget and the link may take a second or two to open in your default browser.

With this patch, the link instantly opens in the browser.

After update from centos7 Rls 3.10.0.862 to 953
the monitor resolution changed to 640x480. I tried to fix it, e.g. to
1280x1024, but I could not: with xrandr, GUI manager and even creating the file
etc/x11/xorg.conf.
For many years, from centos 5, it worked ok.
I'm using an HP ML110 G6, with a graphic driver MGA G200 and LG 20" monitor.
May be I'll have to reinstall the OS or change to debian, ubuntu or other (?).
Thanks in advance.

I can confirm this issue -- however my kwallet is either passwordless or it's
the same as my user (I don't ever remember configuring it, so I don't know
which). Either way, same experience as section A) of Peter's post.

Mine times out 30s after boot with "no secrets provided", and then instantly
connects to whichever WiFi I am near.

A difference, however, is that mine does not reconnect to any WiFi after it
sleeps. It sends the same error -- no secrets provided, but just stops at that
point. turning WiFi on/off in KDE does not fix or reset. I have to reboot after
to restore wifi.

[kdesrc-build] [Bug 402484] New: kdesrc-build's initial setup needs to install perl-io-socket-ssl on Arch et al.

2018-12-22 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402484

Bug ID: 402484
Summary: kdesrc-build's initial setup needs to install
perl-io-socket-ssl on Arch et al.
   Product: kdesrc-build
   Version: Git
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: setup wizard
  Assignee: mp...@kde.org
  Reporter: n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

On Manjaro (and presumably Arch itself), the name of the Perl SSL package to
install is perl-io-socket-ssl. kdesrc-build attempts to install a different
Perl SSL package during its initial setup, resulting in errors when trying to
build anything. Manually installing perl-io-socket-ssl fixes the issue.

SUMMARY
When I try and send email to a Postfix SMTP server nothing gets sent out. I
have two machines with identical settings with one running 5.9.3 and the other
running 5.10. The version running 5.9.3 works fine. The version running 5.10
never even tries to connect to my smtp server. The settings are identical on
both machines.

I'll also note that 5.10 also is not able to send for another account using EWS
whereas 5.9.3 does work, again, with identical settings.

When I test the SMTP connection, everything is good. It recognizes port 587
with TLS and plain password authentication.

The outgoing mail server, login and password are identical as is the server
requiring authentication.

The advanced settings are also identical via auto detect, STARTTLS, port 587
and plain authentication without any proxy.

I also maintain the Postfix server so I can monitor the logs in realtime. 5.9.3
works as expected but with 5.10 there is never any incoming connection to the
server.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Write an email
2. Hit send
3. See email stuck in local outbox folder

OBSERVED RESULT
No connection is made to the SMTP server.

EXPECTED RESULT
Kontact/KMail should at least make a TCP connection to port 587 on the
specified server.

1 - Adblock sometimes doesnt block the ads in the bottom of this site:

https://www.imdb.com/news/ni57948373/

The ads from amazon are blocked by other adblockers in other browsers, even by
the full adblock itself.

2 - Adblock loads the lists every time i go look in the options, something that
NONE of the other adblockers do, it should display a list so you can click and
load the list ONLY if you want to, a example here:

https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/abprime/

You can click to go to the lists' homepage or to load the list itself.

3 - Sometimes the ads are blocked but the frames where they are arent removed,
other adblockers remove them without problems.

4 - Adblock is missing a few lists like fanboy's ultimate (the biggest one of
all, this deserves a test by itself because of how big it is) in the "Add
subscription" section, you can find LOTS of them here https://filterlists.com/

Fit Width vs Fit Page comparison of a lecture slide

Hello,

As a student, I spend the day running across documents containing lecture
slides. Usually, slides look better in 'Fit Page' mode, where in addition it is
possible to comfortably navigate through them with the left and right keys.

However, 'Auto Fit' (the default zoom) doesn't take this into account and uses
'Fit Width'. Obviously, setting 'Fit Page' as the default zoom isn't a solution
because I also have to read portrait documents.

My suggestion is to make 'Auto Fit' take into account the aspect ratio of the
page, so that the whole page is shown for landscape documents. I don't know
what's good for everybody else, so I'd be fine if there was just an option to
enable this.

I have noticed bug 239955, but it's 8 years old, so I decided to open a new
report that fits the current version of Okular.

Thank you very much.

[Falkon] [Bug 402476] New: Bookmarks: Importing them not like in other browsers and more

   Version: unspecified
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: now...@gmail.com
  Reporter: felipefp...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

1 - When importing bookmarks they go to unsorted bookmarks instead of going to
bookmarks menu like on firefox or opera 12 (they werent in unsorted bookmarks'
section of any other browser) this would put them in the right place so they
can be used right away. Instead i have to select them and move them with the
mouse to the right place, i cant use Ctrl+X or Ctrl+C plus Ctrl+V to
cut/copy/paste them like on other browsers.

2 - Nice small cosmetic change: make the library where bookmarks/history are
ALWAYS start maximized. ;)

3 - The colums "Title" and "Address" on top cant be used to organize bookmarks
by alphabetical order of their names or web addresses like on other browsers.
(Once organized this config is auto-saved by the browser)

4 - It doesnt make sense to have an "unsorted bookmarks" or "bookmarks toolbar"
in the bookmarks's section of the menu bar, i mean, who will access the toolbar
from there or use unsorted stuff? Ppl usuall organize stuff by order. Also,
those extra menus just add cluttler to the GUI.

5 - When importing or adding bookmarks manually they arent organized by
alphabetical order, no browser organizes favorites alphabetically when
importing, it would be nice i falkon was a 1st on this. ;)

SUMMARY

Falkon doesnt start on windows 7 if a certain number of dlls arent in the
system.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Install falkon
2. A msg saying it needs api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll will appear
3. Grab this dll and put it in the falkon's folder or system32 folder, the msg
will disappear but falkon wont start

I had better luck downloading this update:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2999226/update-for-universal-c-runtime-in-windows

This fixed my problem and falkon works fine but a program shouldnt require a
windows update to run, none of the programs i have or had EVER required this
unknown amount of dlls from an update to run.

Otter browser (QtWebEngine Version) doesnt require this to run and it runs
fine.

Dear developer, I have new checked this drag and drop functionality today.
The bug is fixed on Kubuntu 18.04.1 LTS with Dolphin 17.12.3 and new compiled
demo program with Qt 5.12.0.
Maybe this bug was just a side effect and was fixed by editing another bug.
Please check it self. Than can close this bug.

[Discover] [Bug 402306] PackageKit crashes every time while fetching updates for Discover

2018-12-22 Thread leftcrane
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402306

OK, turned out this was because the cosmic release was removed from the ppa I
was using. (https://launchpad.net/~mdeguzis/+archive/ubuntu/libregeek)

If _any_ repository is down, packagekit can't refresh the cache. With COPR
repos, if any repository lacks appdata, packagekit will cease to perform
updates. Basically, if there is any problem with any repository, you will no
longer be able to update your system. It's been like this for years.

Should a bug be filed upstream? At the very least, packagekit should have a
disclaimer that says "you cannot use unofficial repositories and packagekit on
the same system".

I could reproduce the problem. The fact that it did not occur in digiKam-5.9.0
is also a bug when writing metadata to the database. Now that we use the
modification date from either the image or the sidecar, it can not be part of
the recognition of an image when searching for images with album id == NULL.

It's not actually that particular line. Something must have jolted it back into
working order after the apt-update, but now packagekit is back on its bullshit.

I wish I could help more, but this is all I see in the terminal:

Gnome Software won't list updates either. But the updates are there and
packagekit displays them fine from the terminal. This is some kind of
longstanding bug that affects both Gnome Software and Discover.

The parts you present do not show the full MIME structure. Please give the full

Well, I have come to the conclusion that, rather than the display issue, what
annoys me the most from the fullscreen mode is the delay before the bars hide
again. Right now this delay seems to be exactly 1 second, which is excessive to
my taste because it feels sluggish.

Nevertheless, I can't decide for everybody else, so my suggestion is to make
this delay configurable from the preferences window. Indeed a much simpler
solution than dealing with rendering.

This is most likely because of “Content-Disposition: inline”: this is not an
attachment! The program that composed the mail is saying: “You should display
this inline.” Of course for a pdf, this is going to be difficult (perhaps the
Apple MUA can?) It is entirely like inline jpegs in html mail. But now, instead
of a jpeg, there is a pdf. I guess it's entirely correct MIME.

My take is that kmail should treat inline MIME parts that it cannot display as
attachments.

Could you save such a mail, remove any personal info from it, and attach it
here?
If the developers get to this bug, that would be convenient.

[kaddressbook] [Bug 402472] New: kaddressbook doesn't show any contacts

2018-12-22 Thread kavol
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402472

Bug ID: 402472
Summary: kaddressbook doesn't show any contacts
   Product: kaddressbook
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: ka...@seznam.cz
CC: to...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 117067
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=117067=edit
screenshot of the problem

Somewhen during upgrades, my contacts got lost - or to be precise, the ability
of kmail to autocomplete addresses from contacts. (I don't know when that
happened as the autocomplete still works with recent addresses so I haven't
noticed until the address I needed wasn't among recently used ...)

Trying to fix that, I've opened kaddressbook to check the contact and
eventually fix that, but I saw nothing and could fix nothing because there is
nothing to configure in kaddressbook.

So I went to akonadiconsole to find there is no contacts agent. So I have added
the one for vcf file and pointed it to the good old 'std.vcf' file.

Hooray, now autocomplete/search by name in kmail works for all the contacts ...

But I cannot (easily) edit them, as none of them are shown in kaddressbook.
(Well, via akonadiconsole I can edit anything ...)

However, kaddressbook obviously works with the vcf agent, as I can add a
contact, it shows 'std.vcf' in a dropdown selecting where to store the new
contact, and if I save it, it gets added to the 'std.vcf' file.

The appended screenshot shows a contact selected in akonadiconsole, so the
agent obviously works, but at the same time no contacts are shown in
kaddressbook ...

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. add a vcf file resource to akonadi
2. open kaddressbook
3. add a contact to that vcf

OBSERVED RESULT
you cannot see the freshly added contact in kaddressbook
examining the vcf file, you see the contact got added into it

EXPECTED RESULT
the new contact shows in kaddressbook
(and of course it is added to the file)

[digikam] [Bug 402470] New: Crashed While I Walked Away During Face Detection

2018-12-22 Thread Brandon Kirsch
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402470

Bug ID: 402470
Summary: Crashed While I Walked Away During Face Detection
   Product: digikam
   Version: 5.9.0
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: brandonkir...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: digikam (5.9.0)

Qt Version: 5.11.1
Frameworks Version: 5.52.0
Operating System: Linux 4.19.9-300.fc29.x86_64 x86_64
Distribution (Platform): Fedora RPMs

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I went to the "People" tab and clicked "Scan collection for faces." I
suggested several friends names between the "Unknown" and "Unconfirmed" tags.

I did not notice Face Detection was running in the back ground and may have
launched it more than once. Sometimes with "Multi Core" enabled, sometimes
not.

I walked away while my CPU was hovering around 90% usage per KSysGuard.
DigiKam was using all of that CPU. I assumed it was Face Detecting but saw no
progress bars. It ran for at least 30 minutes before the crash.

This is likely a dupe, but I did not catch similarities in the backtraces (that
I barely understand)

- Custom settings of the application:
Sometimes turned Multi Core on, sometimes not.

-- Backtrace:
Application: digiKam (digikam), signal: Segmentation fault

Demonstration of the choice of profile built-in sound card

Hello.
Sorry if not there wrote.
The Realtek ALC892 sound card does not work when the system is started by
default.
If you turn on the sound card through pavucontrol, then it starts to work, but
if you restart the system, then it stops working.
The system sound control program kde writes that "Family 17h (Models 00x-0fh)
HD Audio Controller" Profile Dissabled.
In addition to the item Disabled there is nothing.

On the KDE version 5.8.6, everything worked on the kernel 4.9.0.6.
Can it be in the core?

OS: Linux

clickable progress update view

SUMMARY

Discovery has a detailed view of update progress, activated with the Tasks
button. It displays a list of items and their individual progress. These items
are individually clickable, yet this action does nothing, which can confuse the
user.

Optimally clicking could show more info about update (something similar to the
detail view of qapt installer), but if it is impossible, it would be imho
preferable to make the list items non-clickable.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run Discovery
2. Update packages
3. See detailed view of update in Tasks view
4. Click on individual items during their update

OBSERVED RESULT

1. Nothing happens

EXPECTED RESULT

1. Something happens or just nothing to click on.

Aah, I see what you mean. The moment you create a subfolder the text for that
new subfolder appears always on top left corner. What you expect is that the
new name should appear on the place where the new folder is build. Is that what
you meant? If yes this is a “bug”.

[digikam] [Bug 402379] Moving location of RAW file causes loss of metadata

2018-12-22 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402379

It definitely does not matter, because SQLite has always saved with 3
additional digits. Such a date is scanned at most once and now the more
accurate date is stored. But no metadata are lost. Are there any LR sidecar
files in the directory? Digikam-6b3 will first look for sidecars in LR format
and use these if they exist.

I will go over their instructions step by step again. I see it right that their
database is in the state of digiKam-5.9.0, since a back from 6.0.0 would not be
possible because of the higher version number. Then the 3 additional digits
will not exist after the start of digiKam-6.0.0 with the migration to V10. To
get the extra 3 digits you need to create a new database and use the migration
tool to convert the database. I'll check...

Can't reproduce, which doesn't help.

If someone can reliably reproduce and has some GDB experience can I find out
two things:

1) Can I have a backtrace of when WaylandIntegration::plasmaWindowManagement
happens. I can't think why Kate would create this, mine doesn't which is key to
why I don't get this crash.
Must be some setting/plugin.

(break WaylandIntegration::plasmaWindowManagement)

2) do we get inside the lambda
   connect(qApp, ::aboutToQuit, this, [=]() {

which is declared in WaylandIntegration::setupKWaylandIntegration?

(break waylandintegration.cpp:87)

>From the backtrace it would appear we do not.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402465

Bug ID: 402465
Summary: Suspend timer still set after charging battery while
asleep
   Product: Powerdevil
   Version: 5.14.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: dfloger...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Often times, I'm using my laptop down the the last 5% of my battery, when
plasma tells me it will automatically suspend in 60 seconds because it his
critical. What I usually do is close the lid, and plug it in. Hours later
when it's fully charged, I'll unplug it, and open the lid. However, plasma
still has the 60 second time set for suspend. If possible could it re-check
battery status after a resume?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run to critical battery
2. Manually suspend (or close lid) before it automatically suspends
3. Charge, then open the lid

package.filePath("mainscript") resolves properly to
"/usr/share/kpackage/genericqml/org.kde.systemsettings.sidebar/contents/ui/main.qml"

Seems like problem in d->quickWidget->setSource() call.

[digikam] [Bug 402379] Moving location of RAW file causes loss of metadata

2018-12-22 Thread meku
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402379

I have not enabled "Cleanup Database". I am testing with a single collection,
on a single partition.

I believe there is an additional condition that triggers this bug and it is
related to the filesystem timestamps of the photos.

Using 'stat' on my system shows nanosecond accuracy. Some files have not been
modified for some years and show all zeros for the trailing digits,
eg. Modify: 2013-01-29 14:31:22.0
other files have been modified recently and have use all the trailing digits,
eg. Modify: 2018-12-23 01:06:52.322555833

This bug appears to be related to the files timestamp has non-zeros in the
trailing digits.

Furthermore this bug only triggers when a FOLDER is moved, it does not appear
to trigger when an individual file is moved.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create at least 2 test folders with RAW files (include xmp sidecars to test
with sidecars enabled)
At least one RAW/xmp file should have full resolution timestamp. 'touch'
file if necessary to update timestamp and use 'stat' to confirm.
2. Start DK5.9 and add collection with these folders.
At this point you can choose whether to test the RAW or xmp timestamps.
Select Metadata option 'Read from sidecar files' to test the xmp timestamps.
3. Add some metadata to the file that you 'touched', such as caption or tag.
3. Close DK5.9
4. Open DK6.0
5. Using Digikam album list, move the folder - such as dragging and dropping
onto a subfolder.

OBSERVED RESULT
The metadata added in step 3 will have disappeared. And inspecting the Images
database table will show duplicate records with same filename and uniqueHash.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I have tested this on Ubuntu 18.04.1 with external database MariaDB v10.2.19

Altering the Images table to use DATETIME(3) for 'modificationDate' and then
running 'Reread metadata from image' appears to mitigate this bug.
