The bookmark manager works here under Linux or Windows without problems.
Interressant would be the output of digiKam in the console. There would be this
entry to find "Loading GPS bookmarks from" or "Saving GPS bookmarks to". See if
the file exists, delete it if necessary and have it recreated by digiKam.

2019-06-30 Thread Martin Flöser
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409349

On X11 the problem is that windows position themselves. KWin is almost never
involved. You can easily check with xprop.

Neither on X11 not on Wayland we have a chance to truly recognize a window.
Without protocol extensions it is not possible to implement this - I'm sorry.
If it were possible I would have done this years ago.

[plasmashell] [Bug 409350] CPU Load Monitor takes a lot of space

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409350

I see. Until this bug is fixed, you can consider using the System Load Viewer
widget (from kdeplasma-addons) to show the current average CPU usage. It saves
a lot of space because it does not show the usage history graphs. If you choose
"compact bar" for System Load Viewer, you can choose to show the current usage
of each CPU core separately.

For the curious landing here from google, I had to install (on fc27):

dnf install qt5-qtwebengine-devel extra-cmake-modules kf5-kdesu-devel
kf5-kwallet-devel kf5-kparts-devel kf5-kcmutils-devel kf5-khtml-devel
kf5-kdelibs4support-devel kf5-karchive-devel kf5-kcrash-devel

and all the dependencies those pulled in. I can successfully compile (and run
the result) now, and am about to start hacking away.

I promise that's the last off-topic reply (I couldn't edit my previous ones).

Same problem here, on KDE Neon 5.16, Qt version 5.12.3

After resume from suspend no login screen appears, only the desktop background,
I can restart plasma and kwin and it doesn't help, I have to reboot to get the
desktop back.

This is the same with the additional kwin_x11rc setting or without.

Oh no, it wasn't or I don't know why was uninstalled if it comes with the

install a machine from zero. I thing I need to check out which of my

KDE connect messages will sometimes autohide and other times not. It will show
the same message multiple times too. I've noticed it most with the plasma
integration plugin for Chromium and KDE connect notifications. Another
application is PIA (Private Internet Access) has a notification that comes up
when you connect, on startup the message doesn't auto close but if I start it
after booting the message auto hides.

The CPU Load Monitor panel widget doesn't seem to have a compact mode. Either
by making each item smaller or by just showing an average of all cpus and
system into 1.

Right now with system+cpus+ram it takes over 1100px width.

I would prefer if there was just an average of all cpus+system cpu usage (or
whatever makes sense). If not at least have the option to make them smaller.

There are two parts of this. KDE apps generally do remember their window sizes,
but with the default Smart window positioning strategy, they do not remember
their prior positions.

It seems reasonable to expect apps to remember their own sizes per the spec,
but since KWin can and currently does have its own logic to determine window
positions, I think it's reasonable to request a "remember prior position" mode.
I have filed a new bug to track that so it can be discussed with a clean
history: Bug 409349

[kwin] [Bug 409349] New: Offer a window placement mode that remembers windows' prior positioning

2019-06-30 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409349

Bug ID: 409349
Summary: Offer a window placement mode that remembers windows'
prior positioning
   Product: kwin
   Version: git master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

One of my persistent frustrations with KWin is that I can't get it remember
window positions. When I move a window somewhere and then close it, I expect it
to be in that same place the next time I open it. But currently none of the
offered positioning strategies offer this do what I want, which is basically
the following:

- If this is the first time that window has been opened, put it in the center
of the screen
- If the window was previously opened, put it in the same location on the
screen where it was when it was last closed
- If a second instance of that window is opened, offset it down and to the
right, as with the "Cascading" placement strategy (This is requested with Bug
58063)

This would match my mental model of how window positioning should work and make
window manipulation feel much more comfortable and natural. It's also what
other major platforms do these days.

SUMMARY
When capturing rectangular region, sometimes (50%+ of the time) spectacle
window disappears even though the process is still active. This happens
whether launched in console, via shortcut, or via dbus, and only for the
rectangular region mode.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Capture Rectangular region via shortcut or launching spectacle
2. press shortcut key again OR press "take new screenshot" to capture new
region (ie. same instance)

OBSERVED RESULT
sometimes this causes spectacle to disappear. the crosshair may or may not
appear for about half a second, then nothing happens, and spectacle window is
no longer on taskbar or present in desktop. on console, no errors are
reported. spectacle is still present in htop.

EXPECTED RESULT
show crosshair, and start a new rectangular region selection.

2019-06-30 Thread Christoph Feck

It is the application that decides how big the window gets. Ignoring that
request from the application is against the NETWM specification, and thus is
only available as per-application rule overrides.

-1, to me it is a WONTFIX in KWin.

KDE applications should remember window sizes. For applications that do not,
please report an issue for that application. Some specific applications also
remember window positions, mostly when you expect that you only start them
once.

The obscure effect is odd

SUMMARY
>From the refactoring version(19.04.x), the obscure effect has got odd.
Each macro blocks in the obscured area are not square any more.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Place a video clip on the timeline
2. Apply an obscure effect to the clip on the timeline --- A
3. Adjust obscure area (position or size) --- B

OBSERVED RESULT
A. Looks like the effect is applied well
B. The macro block size gets changed. Only four blocks per each row, no more
square each, stretched wide.

EXPECTED RESULT
A. Ok
B. The macro block size should not get changed, but the number of macro blocks
should be adjusted according to the effect area.
c. Some suggestion: It will be better if there are more options like macro
block size or number for the effect.

I am also having problems recalling assigned bookmarks.
For example:
1- open Geolocation Editor with a single photo that includes coordinates from
iPhone.
2- right click on photo and go to Bookmarks,
3- Assign name to the bookmark. Add Bookmark name e.g. "Lighthouse" and click
Okay and it is visible salon gas the Geolocation Editor is not closed.
4- Close Geolocation Editor
5- Open Geolocation Editor with a new photo with no Coordinates from SLR
camera.
6- right click on phone and go to Bookmarks,
No bookmarks are present.

Note that I am able to use the bookmark copy and paste functions successfully.

[okular] [Bug 409345] New: Okular crashes on opening menu

2019-06-30 Thread Alex
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409345

Bug ID: 409345
Summary: Okular crashes on opening menu
   Product: okular
   Version: 1.7.2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: xd...@mail.ru
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: okular (1.7.2)

Qt Version: 5.13.0
Frameworks Version: 5.59.0
Operating System: Linux 5.0.13-1-default x86_64
Distribution: "openSUSE Tumbleweed"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
The problem appears when Okular is run from Emacs for a pdf created by
Pdflatex. Then scrolling is okay; Okular crashes if I try to open the main
menu. Tried several times with the same result.

Removing the "--unique" option and/or the "#src:..." portion of the command
line makes no difference. The crach doesn't appear when I open pdf files from
Dolphin.

- Custom settings of the application:
Today I updated some parts of my system (Opensuse) including KDE. Perhaps some
old versions of libraries may remain, I however was unable to locate them.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Currently it's impossible to delete a wallpaper without change the current
wallpaper.
If you click "Remove wallpaper" button and close the window by clicking
the X button in the upper right corner or "Cancel" button on bottom, desktop
settings window is closed and the wallpaper is NOT removed.
If you click "Ok" or "Apply" buttons after click "Remove wallapper" button, the
wallpaper is removed but the current wallapaper is changed.

1. Double-click on a message in the inbox to open it.
2. Open the same message again in the same way.
3. Close one of those editor windows.

OBSERVED RESULT
The entire program crashes.
I can reproduce it every time.

EXPECTED RESULT
No crash, obviously :q

shouldn't fail silently
   Product: kmenuedit
   Version: 5.16.2
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: don@gmail.com

SUMMARY
In my previous bug report, I couldn't get a program to open from the
application launcher, because I had not set its working dir:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408894

Instead of failing silently when trying to open it, it would have been helpful
if I had gotten an error message (like "command not found").

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add faulty item to the application menu
2. Try to start it

OBSERVED RESULT
It fails to open without any error message or anything

EXPECTED RESULT
An error message popping up would be helpful.

There is an error message from KF5 when trying to call the "Open with" menu
that the file "/etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu" is missing.

One possible solution is to create a symbolic link in "/etc/xdg/menus/".

sudo ln -s kf5-applications.menu applications.menu

Another would be to search the package that contains this file under Kubuntu...

[kwin] [Bug 385522] Present Windows: Don't darken all windows and denote selection some other way than restoring original lightness

2019-06-30 Thread Michael D
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385522

Grid effect does dim non-hovered desktops and their windows. But the
description isn't very clear and does sound like the reporter is referring to
the present windows effect.

Yes, but the Desktop Grid effect doesn't darken the windows the way the Present
Windows effect does, so I assumed the reporte

[gwenview] [Bug 409339] New: "Delete thumbnail cache folder on exit" description text is incorrect

2019-06-30 Thread Zachary Mazza
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409339

Bug ID: 409339
Summary: "Delete thumbnail cache folder on exit" description
text is incorrect
   Product: gwenview
   Version: 19.04.2
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: gwenview-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: zwjma...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 121243
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=121243=edit
Screenshot of the incorrect description.

SUMMARY
The text description under the option "Cache: Delete thumbnail cache folder on
exit" warns about a nonexistent location of the thumbnail cache
(~/.thumbnails), rather than the current one (~/.cache/thumbnails or
$XDG_CACHE_HOME/thumbnails).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Configure Gwenview
2. Navigate to the advanced section

OBSERVED RESULT
The text under the option warns that the folder ~/.thumbnails will be deleted,
despite no longer being the storage location for thumbnails.

EXPECTED RESULT
The text should instead show either "~/.cache/thumbnails" or
$XDG_CACHE_HOME/thumbnails".
Alternatively, it could say "this will delete the folder named thumbnails in
your cache folder".

[krita] [Bug 409318] Multibrush tool needs reselecting after ctrl+z

2019-06-30 Thread Liz Kimber
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409318

Isnt appimages specific to linux?? Im on windows, running the windows app. So,
no, no appimages.

The difference with the mouse is the mouse pointer continues to draw, the
tablet does not, this happens 100% on my machine as I have uninstalled 4.2.2 3x
now, and each time Ive reinstalled it, I see the same behavior, 4.2.1 does not
do this.

I can't reproduce this with the 4.2.2 appimage on Debian 9 using a Wacom Intuos
Draw tablet. Do you use appimages?

In what way is it different with a mouse?

Do you have any similar problems when using the horizontal/vertical mirror
tools?

[frameworks-baloo] [Bug 409257] Baloo index gets corrupted, no results

2019-06-30 Thread Gerson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409257

Ok. Thanks. So, in my case this must take a long time to occur, since I've
never seen any error messages. I'll try running disable+enable again and leave
the terminal open for a long time to check it.

But these error messages are really not written to any log files? Seems like a
drastic failure of the implementation.
