I would try there. If it's not the right place, they'll point you.

I think you can find subsystems in /sys/class folder.

I tried "udevadm trigger --subsystem-match=all" since i didnt know what options
are available that can be triggered.

I tried "udevadm trigger --subsystem-match=block" as you suggested and the
touchpad issue didn't happen.

Oddly enough the touchpad issue didn't happen with Manjaro KDE when I ran
"udevadm trigger" without the subsystem option.

Where can I find the available options that --subsystem-match can trigger. (the
udevadm manpage doesn't seem to have a complete list). I'd like to go over each
one of them to see which one is causing the touchpad issue.

Well, has to be replaced with something I think "block". Otherwise,
I think you are not triggering any events.

I suggest filing bug to udev too.

2019-11-22 Thread KingSpammerNerd
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414414

Bug ID: 414414
Summary: KDE (Wayland) Lock screen partially reveals desktop
contents before showing password dialog
   Product: kscreenlocker
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: kingspammern...@protonmail.com
CC: bhus...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When waking from suspend while running a Plasma Wayland Session, a small area
of the screen (the running application or open file) is visible before the
password input dialog is displayed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run Plasma/Wayland session (Not checked on Plasma/Full Wayland)
2. Suspend to RAM (Does not occur when just locking)
3. Wake the PC

OBSERVED RESULT
A rectangular area in the middle of the screen is briefly visible with the
desktop's contents, before it disappears and displays the password dialog.

EXPECTED RESULT
The lock screen displays the password dialog and clock without revealing
desktop contents.

Right, I should have mentioned the cursor theme option has been deprecated in
favor of syncing the Plasma's cursor theme.

If you hit Sync in the Advanced tab, CursorTheme should be erased from
sddm.conf and written to kde_settings.conf instead.

[plasma-nm] [Bug 414413] New: Ability to cancel secondary (VPN) connection

2019-11-22 Thread Alexander Potashev
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414413

Bug ID: 414413
Summary: Ability to cancel secondary (VPN) connection
   Product: plasma-nm
   Version: 5.16.5
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: applet
  Assignee: jgrul...@redhat.com
  Reporter: aspotas...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Feature request: Ability to cancel secondary (VPN) connection.

When VPN is temporarily unavailable, it is not easy to skip VPN connection and
just use a normal network connection without VPN.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add Wi-Fi connection in plasma-nm.
2. Add VPN (e.g. openvpn) in plasma-nm.
3. In the Wi-Fi connection's settings, enable "Automatically connect to VPN"
and choose the openvpn VPN connection.
4. Break/stop the openvpn server or wait until it goes offline by itself ;)
5. In the plasma-nm applet, click Connect to connect to Wi-Fi. (Or imagine that
you have just turn on the computer and now NetworkManager tries to reconnect to
Wi-Fi automatically.)
6. Assume you can't fix the VPN server and you want to go online immediately
using plain Wi-Fi connection without VPN.

OBSERVED RESULT
To go offline, you have to open plasma-nm settings dialog, select the Wi-Fi
connection, disable "Automatically connect to VPN", then click OK/Apply and
finally manually reconnect to Wi-Fi in the plasma-nm applet.

This approach is complicated and time-consuming. I would like to avoid it, but
there is no good alternative.

EXPECTED RESULT
There should be a button "Skip/Bypass VPN" in the plasma-nm applet on in a
Plasma notification. This button appears when Wi-Fi connection is live, and at
the same time the secondary VPN connection is being attempted but not ready
yet. When you click on this button, plasma-nm should go online using just the
Wi-Fi connection, like if you didn't enable "Automatically connect to VPN".

2019-11-22 Thread Ben
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414396

I've tested again and this is my result.

# ls -l /etc/sddm.conf /etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 30 Nov 23 07:26 /etc/sddm.conf
-rw--- 1 root root 169 Nov 23 07:26 /etc/sddm.conf.d/kde_settings.conf

systemsettings5 wrote both. Thereby the missing CursorTheme in
kde_settings.conf was written to sddm.conf as described.

A new start of SDDM/Plasma read /etc/sddm.conf.

ksplashqml 5.16.5 segmentation fault report

I saw a ksplashqml 5.16.5 segmentation fault in update_buffers at
../src/egl/drivers/dri2/platform_wayland.c:633 which had a similar trace of its
crashing thread as I reported here. The ksplashqml crash happened while
starting Plasma 5.16.5 on Wayland with Qt 5.12.5, KF 5.61.0, mesa 19.2.2 on
2019-11-07. That crash makes it less likely that a mesa change from 19.2.4 to
19.2.6 was involved in the plasmashell crash. I'm attaching the ksplashqml
5.16.5 segmentation fault report from Dr. Konqi.

Application: plasmashell (5.17.3)

Qt Version: 5.12.5
Frameworks Version: 5.64.0
Operating System: Linux 5.3.12-300.fc31.x86_64 x86_64
Distribution: Fedora 31 (Thirty One)

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I was using Plasma 5.17.3 on Wayland in Fedora 31. I left-clicked 2-3 times on
the bottom-left corner of the screen where the Configure Panel popup was shown.
I left-clicked on the x button to close the Configure Panel bar.

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
The Task Manager bar disappeared and reappeared automatically. The background
went black.

Dr. Konqi showed that plasmashell segmentation faulted in update_buffers at
../src/egl/drivers/dri2/platform_wayland.c:633 in libEGL_mesa.so.0 of
mesa-libEGL-19.2.6-1.fc31.x86_64. The start of update_buffers was the
following.

627 static int
628 update_buffers(struct dri2_egl_surface *dri2_surf)
629 {
630 struct dri2_egl_display *dri2_dpy =
631  dri2_egl_display(dri2_surf->base.Resource.Display);

633   if (dri2_surf->base.Width != dri2_surf->wl_win->width ||
634   dri2_surf->base.Height != dri2_surf->wl_win->height) {

636  dri2_surf->base.Width  = dri2_surf->wl_win->width;
637  dri2_surf->base.Height = dri2_surf->wl_win->height;
638  dri2_surf->dx = dri2_surf->wl_win->dx;
639  dri2_surf->dy = dri2_surf->wl_win->dy;
640   }
...

I suppose dri2_surf might've pointed to an invalid/inaccessible address based
on the segmentation fault being at line 633. I had updated the system on the
previous boot with sudo dnf upgrade --refresh which included an update from
mesa 19.2.4 to 19.2.6. A change in mesa from 19.2.4 to 19.2.6 might be
involved. The GPU is an integrated AMD Radeon R5 using the radeonsi mesa driver
and amdgpu kernel driver.

Uh, is there some special location for the kwin log that would still exist
after the past few weeks?
The nearest entry in the journal was:
*
Oct 17 21:47:50 computerName kwin_x11[1163]: qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB
error: 3 (BadWindow), sequence: 45756, resource id: 41328738, major code: 20
(GetProperty), minor code: 0
*
but that isn't uncommon.

Like I had mentioned before, it was a one-off event, and it looks like what
you're asking from me is possibly going to cause me a lot of grief...
I'd like to think I won't have any problem with doing a makepkg for kwin from
https://download.kde.org/stable/plasma/5.16.5/, but am I going to end up
screwing myself over with all the other packages I have being newer?

Besides, wouldn't I still need to have the coredump file? I've had SO many
crashes with KDE related stuff over the past month, mainly with kdeinit5, but I
think that was related to thumbnails.
That all settled down after I upgraded and now I'm contending with crashes from
Kodi. So I've got like 4 crash files for Kodi, and everything else shows as
"missing" in coredumpctl.

I have a feeling, I'm going to need a lot more guidance than that one link you
provided, and even then, I already mentioned it was a one-off and have no clue
how to force the crash.

I only have one Bluetooth adapter, an integrated Wi-Fi/Bluetooth one (Intel AC

Turning Airplane mode on/off via the button in the "Networks" panel does not
turn the Bluetooth adapter back on. It seems to only occur pressing the
aeroplane mode key (for me, Fn + F12).

I probably should have tried doing this manually first :P
I can't find the shortcut listed for the aeroplane mode key - any hints?

Most likely due to KDE Paritition Manager 3.3 < 4.

It used libparted library to do partitioning operations. Now KPM switched to
running without root, so we replaced library calls with running executables, so
I had to call udevadm trigger.

[amarok] [Bug 414407] New: Can't load database (plugin)

2019-11-22 Thread Lapineige
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414407

Bug ID: 414407
   Summary: Can't load database (plugin)
   Product: amarok
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: amarok-bugs-d...@kde.org
  Reporter: lp.com...@lavache.com
  Target Milestone: kf5

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. On Kubuntu 19.10, install amarok-kde5 (from ppa) - as the previous amarok
with qt4 is gone
2. Launch Amarok

OBSERVED RESULT
A pop-up appears:
> The Amarok database reported the following errors:
>The configured database plugin could not be loaded.
>In most cases you will need to resolve these errors before Amarok will run
>properly.

And I have no content in "Local music".

EXPECTED RESULT
Amarok just works fine, and can connect to my music library.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 19.10 (+backports)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.17
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.64.0
Qt Version: 5.12.4
Amarok : 2.9.70

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I had several MySQL errors in the system, crashing Akonadi for instance… I
barely fixed them, now MySQL (MariaDB ?) seem to be accessible.

Removing ~.kde/share/apps/amarok/ doesn't trigger a recreation of that folder…
it doesn't seem to use it at all…

[konqueror] [Bug 373824] Konqueror 16.12 is missing the sidebar

2019-11-22 Thread Raphael Rosch
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373824

Hi DePitte,

the code is still going through the review and modification process, and there
are still a couple of things that need to be fixed before it makes it into
master, but for the time being, you can try the branch (which is still missing
some of my latest changes) at:

https://github.com/insaner/konqueror/tree/konqsidebar_tree_module

(if I'm not mistaken, a simple "git checkout konqsidebar_tree_module" should do
the trick if you already have the github repo loaded -- this would for sure be
the easiest way to get the next set of changes of course)

and of course, if you have any feedback or run into any issues do let me know!

Of note, in sidebar/tree_module/tree_module.h

https://github.com/insaner/konqueror/blob/konqsidebar_tree_module/sidebar/tree_module/tree_module.h

line 34, you can select whether to use the QDirModel (with root node for "/")
option or the KDirModel option (which will soon have that root node as well.
David Faure is implementing it in KIO, and once done it will become the only
option and the QDirModel code will likely be removed before release).

Once compiled, installed, and running, you activate the sidebar by simply
pressing F9.

Bug ID: 414406
Summary: displays way too high number of files in directory

Status: REPORTED

Created attachment 124066
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=124066=edit
screenshot: wrong number of files displayed by filelight

SUMMARY
For various directories, filelight claim, that there are massive numbers of
plain files.
See e.g. my home directory in the screenshot: 40.501 Files, together 4.4 G
(whereas a simple "ls -al | wc" gives 209, including directories).

Perhaps, the reason is a certain confusion with symlinks/hardlinks.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start filelight, choose home directory via menue "Open".
2. Mouse hover the non-directory part of the inner ring displayed by filelight
3. check with Unix "ls"

OBSERVED RESULT
Way too many files counted by filelight.

EXPECTED RESULT
Filelight counts in the way Unix itself does.

I might try to do some workaround in partition manager for this. There might be
an option to only trigger udev events for certain subsystem, instead of the

reply to joey.joey586 from comment #12)
> So I don't think this is an Archlinux-specific issue

Hmm, possibly something else then. Maybe it's hardware specific.
Not sure what I can do on partition manager side to avoid this.

Maybe I can try to only trigger events for some udev subsystem. I'm now looking
at udev trigger manpage, there is some option that might be useful

--subsystem-match=SUBSYSTEM
Trigger events for devices which belong to a matching subsystem

If that work, this particular proble in KDE Partition Manager on your system
might be workarounded...

Nevertheless, you might still want to report your underlying bug somewhere
(maybe udev bugtracker, although, I'm not sure, but udev people might point you
to the right direction)

[digikam] [Bug 414401] RawTherapee does not work as Raw Import Tool if both are AppImages

Both programs in AppImage format - nice. That too works. DigiKam looks only for
the program "rawtherapee". So a symbolic link has to be created, in the way:

ln -s /path/to/appimage/RawTherapee-releases-5.7-20190910.AppImage
/usr/bin/rawtherapee

I had some other bug from Arch user (different symptoms):

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407191
udevadm trigger was causing high CPU usage. Maybe something bad with udev in
Arch?

Bug ID: 414402
Summary: Dolphin service fails to spawn a new instance of
Dolphin
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 19.08.3
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: frontle...@gmail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Dolphin service fails to spawn a new instance of Dolphin.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Firefox and open the downloads section (Ctrl+Shift+Y). Open a
downloaded file using "Open containing folder": Dolphin opens with the file
highlighted. Close Dolphin.

2. Open a standalone Dolphin from "Application Menu". In Firefox, again open a
downloaded file using "Open containing folder": the standalone Dolphin opens
the file highlighted in a separate tab. Fully close Dolphin.

3. Subsequently, open any downloaded file in Firefox using "Open containing
folder".

OBSERVED RESULT
If subsequent downloaded files are opened in Firefox using "Open containing
folder", nothing happens.

EXPECTED RESULT
If subsequent downloaded files are opened in Firefox using "Open containing
folder", Dolphin should open with the said file highlighted.

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I am using RawTherapee and Digikam, both as AppImages under Ubuntu 19.10.
Openening RawTherapee as a ImageEditor does not work, the ImageEditor stays
more or less empty.
The tools itself work, but the connection using the new option in Digikam 6.4
seems not to be able to find the RawTherapee AppImage.
I even allowed RawTherapee at first start to register itself as an Application
within the Launching App of Gnome.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install RawTherapee and Digikam as AppImage
2. Choose RawTherapee as Raw Import Tool
3. Open the Editor

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing happens, RawTherapee does not get triggered.

EXPECTED RESULT
It should open RawTherapee to do my RAW File adjustments.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Do you need both commands to trigger this bug? Or just udevadm trigger?

I don't think running udevadm is supposed to cause touchpad to stop working.
Maybe try reporting bug about that (I guess to Archlinux bug tracker)

This also happens when logging in to a user (after booting the computer)

1) After booting up, type in the password then sleep the computer/laptop
without logging in

2) wake up the computer, and typed password will remain in password field

[Akonadi] [Bug 414400] New: favorites, sent, drafts and templates folder are being changed

2019-11-22 Thread Mathieu Jobin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414400

Bug ID: 414400
Summary: favorites, sent, drafts and templates folder are being
changed
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: IMAP resource
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: opensou...@somekool.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
This is quite major, when having a problem with Akonadi backend.
such as a distro upgrade, MySQL server upgrade.
or a Migration trouble

> org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: "\nSql error: Duplicate column name 'version'
> QMYSQL: Unable to execute query\nQuery: ALTER TABLE SchemaVersionTable ADD
> COLUMN version INTEGER NOT NULL DEFAULT 0"
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Unable to initialize database.

we are in a situation, where the easiest is to delete the
.local/share/akonadi/db_data folder

I don't want to remove the ~/.config/akonadi/ because I have many accounts and
it is quite tedious to setup. I only do that every 2-3 years when I get a new
computer.

I had the annoyance for a while about the favorite folders. everytime they were
pointing to a new location. so I was removing them and recreating them.

but today I was looking for the email I had just sent.. and it was no where to
find found. I go into my settings.
and the folders for sent/template/drafts are pointing to totally random folder
that are not even in the same IMAP account...

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
0. use favorite folders, set custom sent/draft/templates folder for your IMAP
account
1. close kmail/kontact
2. akonadictl stop
3. akonadictl status # check
4. mv ~/.local/share/akonadi/db_data ~/.local/share/akonadi/db_data-last
5. akonadictl start
6. open kmail, check your settings.
7. be scared about the mess

OBSERVED RESULT
folders are wrong

EXPECTED RESULT
folders should be preserved

2019-11-22 Thread Nate Graham

No sorry, I explicitly chose Firefox in the combobox for debugging purposes and
forgot to undo that for the video. It's always on "Choose player
automatically". But you may be right about this being a Media Player widget bug
because it doesn't seem to be automatically switching at all either.

Ah you explicitly chose the media player... i think that's a media controller
bug then. It uses a source that then goes away and then throws an exception
updating the dialog or something. Re-assigning to media controller

The media in the media player widget does not show up as stopped hen I close
the tab. It looks to the widget that it's still playing. If I re-open the
closed tab and resume playback, the widget regains its connection with the
media. Here's a Screen recording (it was slightly too large to attach):

Bug ID: 414398
Summary: PBI not noticing when a Firefox tab with a video was
closed
   Product: plasma-browser-integration
   Version: unspecified

  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de

  Target Milestone: ---

OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, Latest Firefox, all KDE things from git master

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Elisa and begin playing music
2. Open Firefox and navigate to any URL with an embedded video and begin to
play the video (two recent examples:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZSM5ZbdpWw and
https://www.engadget.com/2019/11/21/macbook-pro-16-inch-review-ultimate-apple-laptop/)
3. Close the tab

OBSERVED RESULT
The Media Player widget still lists the Firefox tab as the currently playing
source of media, even though you just closed it. This means that the media keys
on my keyboard become useless and no longer control the music playing in Elisa
until I manually go into the widget and change the source to Elisa or quit and
restart Firefox.

EXPECTED RESULT
The media on that web page should be removed from the Media Player widget as
soon as the tab is closed so that the widget automatically switches back to the
previous media source and my keyboard media keys control Elisa again.

Preventing the situation from happening would be ideal, but KXMLGui should also
be more robust when it does happen. Crashing is a really bad user experience.
We could at the minimum remove the malformed file so that the app at least

Yep, the file is malformed:

It's not valid XML. I guess something interrupted the process while it was
being written. Regardless, this should definitely not make Dolphin crash.
That's tracked by Bug 400271.

In the meantime, you can safely remove that file. It will reset Dolphin's main
window to its default settings, and then you can re-make any customizations you
made to it.

Thanks. It's crashing in KXMLGUIClient::setXML(), which is where it tries to
read your customized configuration file. This explains why it crashes for your
user but not a fresh user. There appears to be something about the file that it
doesn't like.

Can you attach ~/.local/share/kxmlgui5/dolphin/dolphinui.rc?
