[frameworks-knewstuff] [Bug 418034] "Details..." button should remain hidden until addon installation is completed

2020-08-11 Thread Alexander Lohnau
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=418034

Well this is kindof intentional. If you install a plugin you still want to be
able to go into the details view, maybe to compare different themes or
whatever. Especially if the installation takes a bit longer this seems like a
valid usecase.

And in the bugfix we ensured that the button only gets shown on hover. And if
we don't move the cursor we are still hovering. So we could just say that these
buttons should be hidden when we are installing/updating an entry(you could
still view the details by clicking on the entry itself), but that would make
the UI inconsistent.

Nate, Dan any thoughts?

[krunner] [Bug 283738] krunner: support for aliases

2020-08-11 Thread Alexander Lohnau
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283738

(In reply to David Edmundson from comment #6)
> Just to add to that; one can create aliases another way:

But that is a different usacase. With aliases you can easily add another flag
to it or pipe the output to another program etc. Your suggestion goes in the
direction of BUG 396881.

> I would support any UX to try and surface that more - so we're building
> towards a common platform that reuses the tech we have, rather than adding
> layers on top.
Because we are reusing the already existing aliases I would not say that we are
adding layers on top ;-)

Same here,

w/ version 20.04.1
on both windows 7 and 10

Just after fresh installed (w/ new user profile),
when having been launched the kdenlive,
the blank new default project setting is "HD 1080p 29.97 fps"
and the timeline is graduated well. (30 graduations per 1 second).
But, the timestamp of monitor window is wrong. It works as if it is of 25fps.

One another,
The timestamp on the effect pane is also wrong.

In my case,
explicitly change project setting to another and back to HD 1080p 29.97 fps,
then the timestamps in the timeline, monitor window, effect pane
get along with each other correctly.

After having pressed Close button in Dolphin's Title Bar.

SUMMARY

Browsing the data subfolder in ~/.zoom, Dolphin freezes after a second or less
and I can only interact with the app using Title Bar, having to close Dolphin.

As only a few files without extension were strange to me, I tried to reproduce
the scenario in its minimal version and the problem is still there.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a new directory
2. Create a fifo inside the new directory with mkfifo
3. Open the new directory with Dolphin

OBSERVED RESULT

Dolphin freezes. Only Title Bar is usable.

EXPECTED RESULT

Dolphin does not freeze.

Just to add to that; one can create aliases another way:

Custom .desktop entries (either through kmenuedit or manually) will be shown in
krunner.

An extra advantage of that is you can then also easily assign global shortcuts
as well as have more readable names.

I would support any UX to try and surface that more - so we're building towards
a common platform that reuses the tech we have, rather than adding layers on
top.

Read the double bug report for the workaround. In the next pre-release of
digiKam-7.1.0 it can be configured in the setup. This setting is required for
4k screens.

In the screenshots attached I tried with both on and off.

Alacritty doesn't show the scrollbar for me. That's a good observation. I see a
border with my theme but in the screenshots I attached with the default theme
it does look worse because of that. It could help if the scrollbar background
was configurable but that's out of the subject maybe.

Oh so that's why the top margin looks bigger for me. Paying the price of the
highest possible character I would guess.

[krusader] [Bug 424680] Krusader crashs after the command F6 (move files)

2020-08-11 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424680

--- Comment #2 from andre.fritz...@t-online.de ---
Hi David,

thanks for your answer. I'm not a specialist in computing, only a user
with some experience.

I hope, the screenshots are helpful.

I had downloaded some exe-files. After this I started Krusader, marked
this 17 files on the right source window (download folder) and then I
used F5 (because of my bad experiences with F6) to copy to another
folder in the left window of krusader (destination folder). I had the
intention to delete files on the right sight after this - Krusader
crashed during copying the third file. I did not change any rights.

Then I started to copy single files. By copying the first and the second
file - no problem. And they have been copied before - by the first
action. The third single file causes the crash. Crash report did not
work (I was acting as sudo!).

So what can I do?? I like Krusader and use it from my beginning with
OpenSuse 9.x

After this: Double commander 1.0.0 alpha did the work. Dolphin did the
work once again. MC did the work also (and I was not the sudo!).

I'm sure, it is a task of krusader.

I hope I could help. I wish you a lot of success. Thanks for your work.

André

Do you have a crash report?

Is there a file with the same name in the destination folder? In that
case, do
you see the KIO window asking for an action?

You said you can do the same operation in Dolphin (which means it
shouldn't be
a KIO bug), but without a trace it's hard to find the lines of code
involved.

>Do those terminals resize the window smoothly or in steps? Do they have a
>configurable margin, or do they just distribute the remaining free space?

I'm not qualified to answer these questions but I'll try.

I installed and configured alacritty and when I resize the window can see the
text adapting very quickly but there's still some lag. If I resize fast I can
see the background. So in steps? While the margins still aren't perfect for
100% of window sizes and ratios, it feels more consistent.

There are some extra settings

Kitty has a lot of options but for some reason it's crashing when I press a

Git commit 755e4fa2e1a4a055d553d9b241981ab962faa4f1 by Dmitry Kazakov.
Committed on 11/08/2020 at 20:52.
Pushed by dkazakov into branch 'krita/4.3'.

Fix and unbreak KisShapeControllerTest

Not that it caught a real bug, but the configuration was rather dangerous
and could cause a crash in some special cases.

I thought that also but this issue is showing also on my office PC with
different virus scanner. Both PCs have Windows 10. One with Avast and other
with McAfee virus scanners.
I'me going to check the firewalls as well...

[konsole] [Bug 425127] Uneven margins between all 4 sides

Christoph Feck changed:

 CC||cf...@kde.org

It looks like the "Align to center" option could resolve this issue, but
enabling it doesn't make a difference here.

Some more observations: The scrollbar is no longer visually separated from the
terminal view, which adds to the uneven appearance.

For vertical margins, the fonts themselves include margins at the top and at
the bottom for ascenders/descenders or diacritics, and it depends on the
selected font if they appear even or uneven. See e.g. The Kpfx image at
http://www.myfirstfont.com/glossary.html; the K doesn't have even margins
between the two bearing lines.

> To better visualize them you can imagine that each monospaced character has a
> box around it, that's their real size.

I suggest to select all characters with the mouse to see their actual cell
boxes used for layout.

This seems unnecessarily fiddly IMO. If you really need this, you can feed
custom-made scripts or desktop files into the KCM which do `sleep ; executable name` to add the priorities and waiting times that you'd
prefer.

[plasmashell] [Bug 425235] New: Picture of the Day needs to be reset after reboot

2020-08-11 Thread Keith Calvelli
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=425235

Bug ID: 425235
Summary: Picture of the Day needs to be reset after reboot
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Image Wallpaper
  Assignee: notm...@gmail.com
  Reporter: ke...@calvelli.us
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
It seems the the location of plasma_engine_potd has been moved from
$HOME/.cache/plasmashell to /tmp. This results in the cached image being
deleted after each reboot and having to be reset by the user.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set wallpaper type to Picture of the Day and set a provider.
2. Verify wallpaper is visible, not a blank screen.
3. Reboot.

OBSERVED RESULT
Wallpaper is not visible. Screen is blank (shows background color as set in
preferences).

EXPECTED RESULT
Wallpaper is visible (or updated if new wallpaper is available from provider).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.7.11-1-default
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
Qt Version: 5.15.0

Do those terminals resize the window smoothly or in steps? Do they have a
