[digikam] [Bug 426175] Segmentation fault while Faces detection

2020-09-05 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426175

--- Comment #37 from caulier.gil...@gmail.com ---
Marcel,

Looking your full valgrind trace do not show any memory leak, only
uninitialized values.

As explain here :
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2612447/pinpointing-conditional-jump-or-move-depends-on-uninitialized-values-valgrin

This can be considerate as false positive and in all cases not the real case of
the leak of memory from face detection.

How to investigate better :

1/ always use a digiKam compiled with debug symbols using valgrind.
2/ The whole memory leak trace is generally reported at end of valgrind
session, when digiKam is down. Valgrind will take time to list leak sorted by
size. This part of valgrind report is missing in your trace.

[krita] [Bug 426234] New: PressureIn sensor often bugs out when used with Color options

2020-09-05 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426234

Bug ID: 426234
Summary: PressureIn sensor often bugs out when used with Color
options
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.3.0
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Brush engines
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tomtomtomreportin...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 131442
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=131442=edit
PressureIn when used in combination with Hue. Notice alternating hues
midstroke.

SUMMARY
When using the PressureIn sensor with brush options under the Color category,
the max pressure is often bugged midstroke and will alternate with a previous
max pressure.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select Basic-2 Opacity
2. Disable Opacity
3. Enable one of the following brush options: Darken, Mix, Hue, Saturation, or
Value (not sure if it happens with Rate)
4. Disable Pressure and enable PressureIn for the color option you selected
5. Make multiple long strokes as the bugged result might not always happen

OBSERVED RESULT
The max inputted pressure might revert and continuously alternate to a
previous, lower pressure in the middle of a stroke. See attachment.

EXPECTED RESULT
The highest pressure inputted should stay consistent and should not move lower
midstroke.

Another case where this is annoying is when directly comparing the curves of
two brushes. One brush having Fuzzy Dab will make it very annoying to compare
the two Pressure curves when swapping between the brushes, as said brush will
keep showing you the Fuzzy Dab curve when swapping to it.

Please report one ticket per issue.

1) is a duplicate of bug 396747, which is fixed in Plasma 5.18 or later.

2) is about the display manager, which is probably SDDM. If unsure, please ask
in a forum of your distribution which display manager you are using, and report
the issue there. KDE's Plasma doesn't currently have its own implementation of
a display manager.

3) I have never heard the term "installing backup screens". Graphical screen
savers have been removed from Plasma, because they waste energy, and don't save
anything. If you want to save power, use actual screen energy saving modes.

Please clarify what exact functionality is missing there.

[systemsettings] [Bug 426230] New: Joystick KCM updates values and crosshair slowly

2020-09-05 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426230

Bug ID: 426230
Summary: Joystick KCM updates values and crosshair slowly
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_joystick
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: guimarcalsi...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Please take a look at this video I made for a visual representation:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-cctsml6qk=youtu.be

My PS4 controller works fine, but I noticed the joystick KCM seems to update
the position of the stick slowly. I don't know, it's almost looks like it's
smoothing the values. You can see on the video both the crosshair and the
values go back to zero slowly. It makes no sense to have a KCM to test your
controller if it can't show the values accurately. PS: The controller is
connected through USB, not bluetooth, so it shouldn't show any delay. It works
normally with games too, so I suppose this is a bug with KDE.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect game controller (the controller won't show up if the joystick KCM is
already open, it needs to be reloaded to detect the controller)
2. Open up system settings and go to Input Devices >> Game Controller
3. Move analog stick

OBSERVED RESULT

When you look at the crosshair and the raw values, will notice they take some
time to catch up with the real inputs. If you move too fast it will just skip
around.

EXPECTED RESULT

It should show accurate values in real time.

Bonjour,

Hello,
I am not a computer scientist, you may consider that the problems exposed
should be divided into several categories for specialists.

I recently installed Debian10 Buster and the version of KDE Plasma which is
proposed with (see above).

I discover that this version of KDE is less customizable than the previous
ones.
1) In particular, having a screen of 3840x2160 or resolution about 125
px/inches, I need to adjust the width of the scroll bars. The default width is
too thin and I have trouble reaching the cursor. The current width, measured on
a screenshot, is 5px. I would like to move to 15 to 20px.

2) The KDM window or what acts as a start screen is written in very small as if
configuration settings were not taken into account. For the record, I set the
Noto fonts without 16 points for my 4K screen. For the record, 16 points is a
bit small for me, but at 17 points the display is incomplete or too overlapping
with the top line.
Also, in this window, the password input width is a little fair to be able to
track if the keys are properly taken into account. My password is 13
characters. I found that sometimes the seizure of a character resulted in 3 to
5 points! (involuntary repetition) That's why I think it's necessary to be able
to visualize the feedback on the keys.

3) In the system configuration panel (systemsettings5), I can't find where to
install the backup screens.
I tried a separate installation, but the demon takes too many resources and
ends up slowing down the whole system. In the past, this used to be found
either in "Workspace Behavior" or in "Energy Management. For my part, this
function being closer to energy management than to normal workspace, it seems
to me more logical to manage the screen savers in this section. Especially
since the different waking times are in this section.

So here

SUMMARY

I just booted up the latest KDE Neon unstable edition in live mode and the
first time I open Dolphin it shows the following message:

"There are two actions (Move to Trash, Donate) that want to use the same
shortcut (Del). This is most probably a bug. Please report it in bugs.kde.org"

Del should be use to delete, and donate should have another unused key assigned
to it like F12.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin for the first time
2. Message will say: "There are two actions (Move to Trash, Donate) that want
to use the same shortcut (Del). This is most probably a bug. Please report it
in bugs.kde.org"
3. If you press DEL it will take you to donations page.

OBSERVED RESULT

Two shortcuts are assigned the same key

After using up-arrow history beginning of previous commands are frozen at
beginning of input, and new commands appear after a certain number of
characters of these frozen ones. The frozen text at the beginning is not logged
as a command when enter is pressed to execute a typed command. After clearing
the terminal (ctrl+l or clear) the frozen text disappears but if up is pressed
about 3 times it comes back. This problem also existed on tilix and yakuake, so
maybe not caused by konsole.

For what I understand, plasma itself has a way to store the
ca certificates for exceptions under system settings -> network
-> settings -> ssl preferences. That should produce any browser
that has desktop integration read the exception from there
and apply it on the fly, or at least it's supposed to work
with konqueror. The thing is that Falkon still doesn't seem
to support this integration, at least in 3.1.0, and all the
previous I tried failed the same.

As of plasma 5.19.5 with qt 5.15.0 and frameworks 5.73,
there is a dar mode style for kde that at least sets the
bars and tabs as expected, the pages keeps the same
looking though. In a hint I found on the net, launching
falkon with QTWEBENGINE_CHROMIUM_FLAGS=--force-dark-mode
will produce some webpages, like duckduckgo use the
dark mode, but not all webs will obey it. It would be good
to find a way to make it for all sites.

Created attachment 131439
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=131439=edit
Test image with 32Bit floating point precision per channel

GIMP 2.10 now can save XCF images with more than 8Bit Precision per channel.
Digikam don't show thumbnail images for this files. I attached a test image to
the bug report to reproduce this behavior. I tested this with digikam 6.4.0
(openSUSE Leap 15.1 package) and 7.0.0 (appimage).

For example this images are created by the following workflow:
Open RAW from digikam in GIMP 2.10 -> Rawtherapee plugin starts -> Finish work
in Rawtherapee -> GIMP opens the image -> Finish work in GIMP and save as XCF

Sure, it is possible to reduce the precision in GIMP but this is not really a
solution.

I know, I can even send this bug report to the KDE framework or Imagemagick
which are used by digikam to load XCF files. It seems none of them can handle
XCF files with higher precision.

Btw. Is there a way to save a thumbnail as an additional file for the XCF which
is than used by digikam?

I have three collections on network shares, and I added a local collection (a

not disappear, and cleaning the database does nothing.

Do you want me to run some specific tests?

So the way to build AppImage with an optimized OpenCV improve the situation but
do not solve it.

How the memory allocation grow with AppImage version ? less faster than the
navive digiKam version ?

It can be usefull to compare the backtrace with the debug version of AppImage
bundle. run it with "debug" argument to caught crash with GDB.

Other Q : which kind of image format do you parse while face detection ? Do you
see a memory leak difference with JPEG, PNG, RAW, TIFF for ex ?

[kwin] [Bug 426198] kwin wayland build has X11 dependency

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426198

I'm building a full KDE Plasma desktop environment from source on
Gentoo. Thanks to the great work of KDE community and others, Plasma
wayland is fully usable on my setup since a couple of months and I am
curious what it takes to remove all X11 packages. In general, Gentoo
makes it easy to enable/disable certain build-time features such as X11
via USEFLAGs. Thus removal off X11 packages is possible in principle.

If you are aware of any dependencies that block this, collecting the
list here will make it easier to work towards the goal.

No I can't, sry. The archives in question contain data that I'm not willing to
share publicly, even though encrypted.

Instead, I analyzed the problem myself: Ark calls the 7z executable asking it
to uncrypt the archive. This doesn't work, because wrong password. Now, the 7z
exec is spamming the stdout with msgs "ERROR: Data Error in encrypted file.
Wrong password?"

Ark says: "Oh, we've got new input on stdout? Let's handle it!" In
CliInterface::readStdout() we find the wrong password message and kill the
process in CliInterface::killProcess(). There we do m_process->waitForFinished,
which goes back into Qt's event loop. Any more work to do? Yes! Another "ERROR:
Data Error in encrypted file. Wrong password?" Great, let's handle it! We find
the wrong password message, kill the process, wait again, and search for
events. What comes next? Oh, another message on stdout. Let's handle it!

So, if you want to kill the process, I'd suggest to disconnect() the
QProcess::readyReadStandardOutput signal in CliInterface::killProcess().

2020-09-05 Thread MarcP
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426218

Bug ID: 426218
Summary: Pictures from old collection still in database after
removing it
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.1.0
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Database-Maintenance
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: iwannaber...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 131437
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=131437=edit
Screenshot showing the issue

SUMMARY

As a test, I added a folder with pictures (/home/user/Images) as a new Local
collection. It scanned the pictures inside and its metadata. When I was done
doing those tests, I went to the settings menu and removed the local
collection.

However, the pictures still appear in my database, and manually cleaning it, or
the automatic cleanup on the startup does not delete them or their metadata
(tags, dates, etc). I cannot see the pictures, not even their thumbnail (see
attachment), but they are still shown as icons

Shouldn't that action be performed immediately? How can I remove them
permanently?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. On existing Digikam installation, manually add new Local collection in the
settings menu.
2. Wait for digikam to scan the new files and update the database
3. Delete the Local collection from the settings menu.
4. Restart digikam and wait for the startup cleanup to finish. (or,
alternatively, Perform Database Cleaning on Tools/Maintenance)

OBSERVED RESULT
Placeholders for the old pictures are still shown, and their tags appear on the
tree.

EXPECTED RESULT
Pictures from that collection should have been deleted from the database.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

I tried it both in the stable 7.0.0 x64 appimage and today's nightly flatpak,
both under Ubuntu 20.04LTS with Gnome.

Is this still a problem? Sounds a bit like a setup problem, for polkit to work
correctly there need to be 3 different files in the correct paths (the dbus
policy to allow claiming the service name, the dbus service for
dbus-invocation, the polkit actions to setup the actual auth). The file you
mention is only the second bit and will not work without the first bit.

[digikam] [Bug 426215] New: Wishlist: Hierarchical saved searches

2020-09-05 Thread MarcP
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426215

Bug ID: 426215
   Summary: Wishlist: Hierarchical saved searches
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.1.0
  Platform: Flatpak
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Searches
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: iwannaber...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

This is just a suggestion. I tend to have lots of saved searches. For instance,
one for every camera model and phone I own, some others for pictures in which
some relative appear, others to group several albums from the same trip, etc.

My list is becoming a bit cluttered, so the idea of organizing it crossed my
mind. Like adding folders or grouping them using a hierarchy.

What do you think about this?

[kwin] [Bug 426198] kwin wayland build has X11 dependency

2020-09-05 Thread Leonard Lausen
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426198

Thank you for elaborating David. Where are the dependencies that also require X
anyways tracked? If they aren't tracked, would it be sensible to track them in
this bug report?

Given the existing runtime support for disabling xwayland, this seems to be
mainly an issue with the build system and the dependencies.

Mhhh. This may actually be a substantial architectural defect. I'm only
glancing over the code but it looks a whole lot like the way the
client<->helper communication is built assumes that only one action of a single
type e.g. "org.kde.foo.action" is run at any given time. Specifically the
helper gets told to run an action and then informs on progress for that action
via signals that only link to the request by the action name. That is why two
instances of kwrite would get finished, the helper emits
actionPerformed("org.kate.whatevs", {}) and both clients think their request is
the one that was performed.

Fixing this essentially needs the entire IPC to get changed :|
Oh dear oh dear
