[krita] [Bug 436721] New: Flattening an animated layer with layer effects gives artifacts
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436721 Bug ID: 436721 Summary: Flattening an animated layer with layer effects gives artifacts Product: krita Version: nightly build (please specify the git hash!) Platform: Debian stable OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Animation Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: ahab.greybe...@hotmail.co.uk Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 138208 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=138208=edit Animated layers with layer styles SUMMARY If an animated layer has layer effects on it, then for some effects there are artifacts created when the layer is flattened. Attached example .kra files are provided. This is seen with the May 06 5.0.0-prealpha (git cb99b9e) appimage and also the 4.4.3 appimage STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a simple short animation and apply the layer effects Bevel or Drop Shadow to it (or use the attached Anim-FX.kra file which has Bevel, Drop Shadow and Satin layer effects on separate animated layers). 2. Flatten each layer. OBSERVED RESULT 2. Artifacts are created when each layer is flattened. (The file Anim-FX-Flattened, produced with the May 06 5.0.0 appimage is attached.) See Additional Information for more details of the observations. EXPECTED RESULT 2. There should be no artifacts created. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION a) For the attached example, the flattening was done when frame-4 was selected and it seems that this frame has the least number of artifacts. b) When the Drop Shadow Fx layer was flattened (before the Satin Fx layer was flattened), a temporary artifact was created over the Satin Fx layer image on frame-4. Then when the Satin Fx layer was flattened, only frame-3 of the Satin Fx layer had artifacts on it. c) For an animation with a single layer that has Satin Fx on it, flattening gives no artifacts but the frame that was selected when flattening was done has no Satin effects on it. d) If a layer style is changed to another effect, any selected frame will show the new effect but when the animation is played then the previous effect is shown. This has been observed for changing from Satin to Bevel. e) In some cases (but not repeatable) flattening a layer with effects gives one or more Held frames instead of painted keyframes on the timeline. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436301 Oliver Sander changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |NOT A BUG Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED --- Comment #12 from Oliver Sander --- Reading https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66580 (an old duplicate of your bug report), it seems quite clear that the LO folks are unhappy about their nonstandard way of embedding odt files into pdf files, and would rather see that changed. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436524 Ahab Greybeard changed: What|Removed |Added CC||ahab.greybe...@hotmail.co.u ||k --- Comment #4 from Ahab Greybeard --- I have the "failed to render frames error" with the May 06 5.0.0-prealpha (git cb99b9e) appimage using the attached .kra file. It does not happen with the 4.4.3 appimage or the May 06 4.4.4-alpha (git cc5d52c) appimages. It happens after all the intermediate .png files have been created in the target folder and ffmpeg has started to create rendered frames. At this stage, ffmpeg is running and I observed a large amount of RAM used by krita (7 GB) and increasing amounts of RAM used by ffmpeg (6.5 GB). This was pushing my system RAM amount of 16GB considering I have 1.7GB in use by other applications. If I resized the canvas to remove the top half of the existing image, then rendered as .mp4, the RAM usage was notably lower and it rendered with no problems. @Benjamin Round: Can you use the Task Manager to note the RAM usage and then try resizing or cropping to see if that improves the situation? [krita] [Bug 404011] Krita text appears to be drawn at incorrect point size
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404011 --- Comment #18 from j...@ridgwaydesign.fsnet.co.uk --- I notice that the text in the placeholder box types in at the correct size for the setting. This has become apparent when creating multi-line text for caption boxes in comics. Text has to be split into several lines to fit the width of a picture. If I want the text in the picture to be 10 points, I have to type it into the placeholder at 10 points to see where to make line breaks so that the length of text is going to fit the picture width. I then have to reduce the font size by two points (to 8 points) and change the spacing of the lines in svg mode. I can then save the text to place it in the dialog box. I don't understand why the placeholder box is correct and the artwork is the wrong size. Is this due to the dpi of the placeholder being at a different resolution? [krita] [Bug 436731] New: Huge brush tip images unnecessarily slow down Krita on every start of the stroke
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436731 Bug ID: 436731 Summary: Huge brush tip images unnecessarily slow down Krita on every start of the stroke Product: krita Version: git master (please specify the git hash!) Platform: Mint (Ubuntu based) OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: General Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: tamtamy.tym...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY If you have the same brush (in Pixel Engine) with the same brush tips options and the same size, and you only change whether it's a huge brush tip image - for example 3.000x3.000, or a small brush tip image - 100x100, you'll see a big difference in speed of starting the line. Since the result size of the brush is the same in both cases, it shouldn't cause much slowdown - maybe only a bit to scale down the brush tip, but it shouldn't happen before every stroke. I marked it as a bug since I can see there is some KisSharedQImagePyramid used for brush tips so I believe it must not be intentional that Krita scales it down every time the stroke starts. Note that "every start of the stroke" does include strokes in the brush editor, which makes the brush editor very laggy if you try to edit a brush preset like this. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have a Pixel Engine brush, preferably without Size dynamics. 2. Have two identical brush tips, just one should be 3.000x3.000, and the other one scaled down to 100x100. 3. Try to paint with one brush tip, and then the other. OBSERVED RESULT Slowdown in the brush editor and at the beginning of every stroke on the canvas. [frameworks-kio] [Bug 436639] Being able to set that files get opened via a command instead of a program
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436639 --- Comment #4 from Toadfield --- It's not a must have, but it will make everything faster,I have an example: You download a folder that has lets say 20 files and you want to execute all of them with custom commands, right now you would need to create 20 .desktop files, then copy the path of each file to each .desktop file and then add a custom command to each .desktop file and then launch them. That is annoying when you want to download a file, then test it and then just want to uninstall it. With an Application Tab function for executables it would just be faster. I don't want this feature cause I am an expert, but cause it is simply just easier and faster. And when this feature would get implemented, then you can also add features like being able to customize multiple Application Tabs of multiple files at once, for example I could right click 20 files and open the properties and then set that they all will use the same launch command. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Other programs as well as the desktop context menu itself do still work. Only file context menus are broken. It seems like the position calculation is still correct: A file on the top-right of Monitor 2 (RHS) will cause the context menu to open at the top-right as well but on Monitor 1 (LHS) instead of Monitor 2 (RHS). After researching the different encryption backends some more I'd be in favour of making it the default also, because it's EncFS without the security vulnerabilities and it's much more performant than CryFS.
