I have the same issue. I am sure that at some point in the past, it was
possible to choose cameras.

I have a laptop that has an external webcam connected to it via a USB-Hub.
Other programs like Firefox, Skype, etc. detect and can use this camera, but
Kamoso does not list it as an option: only the integrated webcam.

[krita] [Bug 436721] New: Flattening an animated layer with layer effects gives artifacts

2021-05-07 Thread Ahab Greybeard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436721

Bug ID: 436721
Summary: Flattening an animated layer with layer effects gives
artifacts
   Product: krita
Version: nightly build (please specify the git hash!)
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Animation
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: ahab.greybe...@hotmail.co.uk
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 138208
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=138208=edit
Animated layers with layer styles

SUMMARY
If an animated layer has layer effects on it, then for some effects there are
artifacts created when the layer is flattened. Attached example .kra files are
provided.
This is seen with the May 06 5.0.0-prealpha (git cb99b9e) appimage and also the
4.4.3 appimage

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a simple short animation and apply the layer effects Bevel or Drop
Shadow to it (or use the attached Anim-FX.kra file which has Bevel, Drop Shadow
and Satin layer effects on separate animated layers).
2. Flatten each layer.

OBSERVED RESULT
2. Artifacts are created when each layer is flattened.
(The file Anim-FX-Flattened, produced with the May 06 5.0.0 appimage is
attached.)

See Additional Information for more details of the observations.

EXPECTED RESULT
2. There should be no artifacts created.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
a) For the attached example, the flattening was done when frame-4 was selected
and it seems that this frame has the least number of artifacts.
b) When the Drop Shadow Fx layer was flattened (before the Satin Fx layer was
flattened), a temporary artifact was created over the Satin Fx layer image on
frame-4.
Then when the Satin Fx layer was flattened, only frame-3 of the Satin Fx layer
had artifacts on it.
c) For an animation with a single layer that has Satin Fx on it, flattening
gives no artifacts but the frame that was selected when flattening was done has
no Satin effects on it.
d) If a layer style is changed to another effect, any selected frame will show
the new effect but when the animation is played then the previous effect is
shown. This has been observed for changing from Satin to Bevel.
e) In some cases (but not repeatable) flattening a layer with effects gives one
or more Held frames instead of painted keyframes on the timeline.

Reading

  https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66580

(an old duplicate of your bug report), it seems quite clear that the LO folks
are unhappy about their nonstandard way of embedding odt files into pdf files,
and would rather see that changed. It is therefore extremely unlikely that
Okular will ever implement support for the current LibreOffice way of embedding
documents. Any developer effort is much better spent making LibreOffice
standard-compatible.

I will therefore close this bug report. Thanks for your interest in Okular!

Manually setting the scale factor, makes kmix behave as expected.

QT_SCALE_FACTOR=0.8 kmix

This has nothing to do with fractional scaling. Running with an integer scale
factor ha the same wrong behavior.

I noticed this on Plasma 5.21's Discover, that there is no Retry button when it

just takes a refresh to get it to load successfully, which is why I think there
should be a Retry button.

I'll test if it really uses it as a preview and if so I'll make an MR.

The crash was caused by whatever problem in "Czech Radio (Ceska Radia)"
https://store.kde.org/p/1135783/ script. After uninstalling, Amarok doesn't
crash anymore. The script is normally installable and otherwise id doesn't
produce any error. I'm not sure if whatever error in external script should
cause crash of whole application... Might be such problematic scripts should be
removed from the KDE store...?

I have the "failed to render frames error" with the May 06 5.0.0-prealpha (git
cb99b9e) appimage using the attached .kra file.
It does not happen with the 4.4.3 appimage or the May 06 4.4.4-alpha (git
cc5d52c) appimages.

It happens after all the intermediate .png files have been created in the
target folder and ffmpeg has started to create rendered frames.
At this stage, ffmpeg is running and I observed a large amount of RAM used by
krita (7 GB) and increasing amounts of RAM used by ffmpeg (6.5 GB).
This was pushing my system RAM amount of 16GB considering I have 1.7GB in use
by other applications.

If I resized the canvas to remove the top half of the existing image, then
rendered as .mp4, the RAM usage was notably lower and it rendered with no
problems.

@Benjamin Round: Can you use the Task Manager to note the RAM usage and then
try resizing or cropping to see if that improves the situation?

This may be a 'system resources limit' problem.

I'm afraid it's not done at a Plasma level.

Clients get know the key repeat rate through xkb (or 0 for disable), and they
get events when the key goes down and up.

Which means you would need to change every client in order to have the proposed
behaviour, which is somewhat unfeasible.

If you want the code, you'd have to look in the qtbase/plugins/platforms/xcb
and qtwayland/client and gtk/gdk/x11 gtk/gdk/wayland and so on.

and then invent a new way of communicating your new setting.

[krita] [Bug 404011] Krita text appears to be drawn at incorrect point size

2021-05-07 Thread john
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404011

--- Comment #18 from j...@ridgwaydesign.fsnet.co.uk

I notice that the text in the placeholder box types in at the correct size
for the setting. This has become apparent when creating multi-line text for
caption boxes in comics. Text has to be split into several lines to fit the
width of a picture. If I want the text in the picture to be 10 points, I
have to type it into the placeholder at 10 points to see where to make line
breaks so that the length of text is going to fit the picture width. I
then have to reduce the font size by two points (to 8 points) and change
the spacing of the lines in svg mode. I can then save the text to place it
in the dialog box. I don't understand why the placeholder box is correct
and the artwork is the wrong size. Is this due to the dpi of the
placeholder being at a different resolution?

Best regards,

John Ridgway

2021-05-07 Thread George
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436728

Bug ID: 436728
Summary: Invalid Type entry in desktop file
   Product: frameworks-kded
   Version: 5.81.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: fa...@kde.org
  Reporter: vas...@gmail.com

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
.desktop entry has an invalid Type= field, causing it to give warnings when
parsing. This is causing a warning when opening MenuLibre, a .desktop file
editor/parser.

No actual known usability impact beyond the field just being invalid.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open org.kde.kded5.desktop file
2. Verify on Table 2 valid Type entries are "Application", "Link", or
"Directory" -
https://specifications.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/desktop-entry-spec-latest.html#recognized-keys

[krita] [Bug 436725] New: 5.0.0-prealpha does not produce a log_encode.log file

2021-05-07 Thread Ahab Greybeard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436725

Bug ID: 436725
Summary: 5.0.0-prealpha does not produce a log_encode.log file
   Product: krita
Version: nightly build (please specify the git hash!)
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: regression
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Animation
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: ahab.greybe...@hotmail.co.uk
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The May 06 5.0.0-prealpha (git cb99b9e) appimage does not produce an encode log
output file for .gif or .mp4 output rendering. (These were the only two output
formats tested.)

The 4.4.0-alpha and the 4.4.3 appimages do produce log outputs.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create/obtain an animated .kra file and render it to a destination folder.
2. Examine the contents of the destination folder.

OBSERVED RESULT
2. The rendered video output file is correctly present but there is no encode
log file.

EXPECTED RESULT
2. There should be an encode log file.

The Showfoto-6.4.0 version of openSUSE Leap 15.2 (up to date) works here
without any problems. For the test I also uninstalled the digiKam packages to
see if there might be a package problem. No crashes when resizing and saving.
Check your installed packages.

Either :
- Disabling animation, and I think current static indeterminate progress looks
fine and reflect the fact that loading percentage is not calculable.
- Or hacking the animation for progress bar so even if animation is disabled it
will shows minimum animation to make it looks better.
- Or finding another graphical form to represent better the static
indeterminate progress status.

[krita] [Bug 436731] New: Huge brush tip images unnecessarily slow down Krita on every start of the stroke

2021-05-07 Thread Tiar
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436731

Bug ID: 436731
Summary: Huge brush tip images unnecessarily slow down Krita on
every start of the stroke
   Product: krita
Version: git master (please specify the git hash!)
  Platform: Mint (Ubuntu based)
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tamtamy.tym...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
If you have the same brush (in Pixel Engine) with the same brush tips options
and the same size, and you only change whether it's a huge brush tip image -
for example 3.000x3.000, or a small brush tip image - 100x100, you'll see a big
difference in speed of starting the line.

Since the result size of the brush is the same in both cases, it shouldn't
cause much slowdown - maybe only a bit to scale down the brush tip, but it
shouldn't happen before every stroke.

I marked it as a bug since I can see there is some KisSharedQImagePyramid used
for brush tips so I believe it must not be intentional that Krita scales it
down every time the stroke starts.

Note that "every start of the stroke" does include strokes in the brush editor,
which makes the brush editor very laggy if you try to edit a brush preset like
this.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a Pixel Engine brush, preferably without Size dynamics.
2. Have two identical brush tips, just one should be 3.000x3.000, and the other
one scaled down to 100x100.
3. Try to paint with one brush tip, and then the other.

OBSERVED RESULT
Slowdown in the brush editor and at the beginning of every stroke on the
canvas.

EXPECTED RESULT
Slowdown, if necessary, only on the first stroke.

In the beginning of the stroke we do copies of the brush. I guess
KisBrush::clone() does not preserve image pyramid. To allow pyramid
preservation we need to implement proper copy-on-write for it with

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 436639] Being able to set that files get opened via a command instead of a program

2021-05-07 Thread Toadfield
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436639

It's not a must have, but it will make everything faster,I have an example:
You download a folder that has lets say 20 files and you want to execute all of
them with custom commands, right now you would need to create 20 .desktop
files, then copy the path of each file to each .desktop file and then add a
custom command to each .desktop file and then launch them.
That is annoying when you want to download a file, then test it and then just
want to uninstall it.
With an Application Tab function for executables it would just be faster.
I don't want this feature cause I am an expert, but cause it is simply just
easier and faster.
And when this feature would get implemented, then you can also add features like
being able to customize multiple Application Tabs of multiple files at once, for
example I could right click 20 files and open the properties and then set that
they all will use the same launch command.

[frameworks-kwindowsystem] [Bug 436732] New: File context menu opens always on first connected workspace

2021-05-07 Thread Marcel Rupp
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436732

Bug ID: 436732
Summary: File context menu opens always on first connected
workspace
   Product: frameworks-kwindowsystem
   Version: 5.81.0
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: marcel.r...@live.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
As of the recent stable update whenever I try to open a context menu for a file
it gets opened on the first available "screen" on the left hand side.
Other programs as well as the desktop context menu itself do still work. Only
file context menus are broken.

It seems like the position calculation is still correct:
A file on the top-right of Monitor 2 (RHS) will cause the context menu to open
at the top-right as well but on Monitor 1 (LHS) instead of Monitor 2 (RHS).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect a second monitor
2. Have the right hand monitor be "Folder view" instead of "Desktop"
3. Try opening a file context menu (right click a file)

OBSERVED RESULT
Context menu opens on the left hand monitor but retains the correct position
for the context menu relative to the display itself.

EXPECTED RESULT
Context menu opens at cursor position

Yeah my large vault works great with gocryptfs, no complaints so far. After
researching the different encryption backends some more I'd be in favour of
making it the default also, because it's EncFS without the security
vulnerabilities and it's much more performant than CryFS. The additional
security is likely not worth how much user experience can get degraded for most
people.

I also found a similar GitHub issue[1] to the one you linked, which describes
the performance issue as well as a solution for it but it hasn't been actioned
despite the author sounding open to adding the feature 5 years ago.

Disman (https://gitlab.com/kwinft/disman) runs independent of a Plasma
workspace.

It reuses the configuration data for each session with the same windowing
system. If Disman would be launched by SDDM then Disman would do what you want
automatically.

You can probably try it out yourself through some systemd service hookups. See
the section of the README on how to use an independent Disman:
https://gitlab.com/kwinft/disman#independent

[digikam] [Bug 436727] New: detecting wrong entries in confirmed faces

2021-05-07 Thread Martin Tlustos
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436727

Bug ID: 436727
Summary: detecting wrong entries in confirmed faces
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.2.0
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Faces-Maintenance
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: martin.tlus...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I have several thousand pictures with faces of my family. Sometimes, wrong
entries creep into the confirmed faces of a person and subsequently mess up
face recognition later. Of course I can scroll through the list and delete
those wrongly assigned entries, but that is bothersome. If there were a way to
find those entries more quickly, that would be highly appreciated... ;-)

This problem happens only the first time (directly after fresh boot) when you
