You probably miss a dependency. You need to run sh install.sh and provide full
output in order to identify what is wrong. The output you provide is not from
sh install.sh

[dolphin] [Bug 440766] New: Service menu actions are very slow when used with large numbers of files

2021-08-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440766

Bug ID: 440766
Summary: Service menu actions are very slow when used with
large numbers of files
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 21.04.2
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: cvn...@outlook.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 140595
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=140595=edit
Bash script to be used as a serivce action to demonstrate the issue

SUMMARY

Using a service menu in Dolphin's context menu to perform an action on a fairly
large number of selected files is very slow, regardless of the size of the
files or the action to be performed. The time increases as the number of
selected files does, becoming quite noticeable at about 25 files, with about a
5 second delay at that point before the action is executed. I have observed
this with both my own custom service menus as well as built-in service menus,
such as the "Compress" menu. This behavior occurs when using either %F or %U in
the desktop file to pass the selection to the script.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Navigate to a folder with a substantial number of files
2. Select a number of files
3. Right-click on the selection, and execute an action from a service menu

OBSERVED RESULT
There is a significant delay before any action is executed; for example, a test
service (attached) that does nothing but open a kdialog takes roughly 9 seconds
to execute on a selection of about 75 small text files.

EXPECTED RESULT
When running the same test script from Nautilus/Files scripts context menu on
the same selection of files, the kdialog box appears almost instantly. I would
expect Dolphin's performance to be at least comparable.

I've also noticed that the embedded cover art doesn't show for songs that
aren't part of an album. If I change the metadata of the song to say it's in an
album, the cover art displays like it should.

I don't know if this is an intended behaviour or not, but I thought it was
unintended.

--- Comment #147 from Mihai Sorin Dobrescu ---
This is not correct for switching between Plasma Styles either. Having
different parameters between various parts of the items, like borders and text
sizes, the widgets shuffle pretty much and they don't size correctly at setting
back to the initial Plasma Style. My take would still be to keep widgets sizes
in pixels and set them back just as the user resizes them by hand.

[okular] [Bug 427465] Bookmarks: error if pdf-file was moved or renamed

2021-08-08 Thread fire f.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427465

A serious pdf reader should offer bookmark functionality like the OP and
gazillions of users expect it.

The "keditbookmarks" GUI standalone app has import / export functions. Some
find/replace functinality for the document's path, e.g. using

/home/bookmk

~/documents/

could tremendously enhance the power of Okular. For the moment, manual
find/replace of the path does already allow users to maintain big
bookmark-collections across machines and what not.

2 collaborating users would, however, use a standardized absolute path such as

/home/bookies

or make that a symbolic link (via: ln -s src targ ) into

/~/documents in a particular language (such as: ~/Dokumente/ )

Worth repeating that without powerful portable bookmarks, which clearly are
possible, Okular is not half the man it used to be in user's perception.

2021-08-08 Thread Scott
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420939

The first issue, the pool drive, I use mergerfs: here
 ver. 2.31. Following your suspicions
I deleted the index file, /home/scott/.local/share/baloo/index and changed
the config to follow absolute addresses (attached) removing any reference
to the drive, pool. This cured the red-flag issue from may last post, baloo
now does it's indexing and is only a couple of files shy of the number of
files I expect to be indexed. More importantly it no longer duplicates
entries, if I disable and then enable balooctl no further indexing occurs,
the same is true after re-booting the machine. I performed this 3 times.

The new 2nd issue, running balooctl enable for the first time produces a
piped balooctl monitor file with 5488 files indexed. Running balooctl
status returns 5976 files indexed.

So after doing all this testing I find that not one file displays a
duration anymore. If I copy any file to my /home/Videos directory the
duration is displayed. I have only entered commands which start with
baloo...?

I have also attached the piped stderr file which may be of some value you.

The fact that the bug doesn't happen in Cinnamon doesn't mean it isn't a driver
bug; the drivers interact with software in different ways. For example, Plasma
is hardware-accelerated while I believe Cinnamon is CPU-rendered, so it
bypasses the GPU entirely.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, it must be a weird edge case. I ended up deleting

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 440761] New: Keyboard short cuts no longer work after update to fedora 34

2021-08-08 Thread Emmett Culley
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440761

Bug ID: 440761
Summary: Keyboard short cuts no longer work after update to
fedora 34
   Product: frameworks-plasma
   Version: 5.22.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: libplasma
  Assignee: notm...@gmail.com
  Reporter: lst_man...@webengineer.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Since updating nmy system from feroda 33 keyboard short cuts do not work. For
example, I set the Yakuake open short cut to F8 because F7 seems to have been
taken over by chrome. Pressing F8 does nothing. However I also change Yuakw
to open when moving the mouse to the top of the screen, and that doen open
yakuake.

Pressing ctl-atl-backspace also dose nothing, even though the key combination
is configured for kill destkop. I don't use a lot of shortcuts, but those are
ones I do use, especially to open yakuake.

Also the compose key does not work. I believe that is related to shortcuts not
working.

Note that I do not use wayland, which brings up what may be the problem. If I
press ctl-alt f2 nothing happens. In the past that would switch to the first
system terminal session. Pressing ctl-alt-f1 takes me to an empty screen.
Could it be somthing to do with switching to x11?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. strike any system keyboard shortcut key conbination,
2. Attrempt to enter special character via assigned compose key

Observed results
1. strike any defined system shoutcut key combination and nothing happens
2. Setting yakuake shortcut to F8 does not cause yakauke to open.
3. Ctl-Alt Backspace does nothin

EXPECTED RESULT
striking system keyboard shortcut key conbination should cause the action
expected.

The only thing off about an otherwise truly gorgeous taskbar is the damnable
clock!

At a height of 34px, even a "General" font size of 7px looks too large, not to
mention everything else becomes entirely unreadable at that size. A separate
option for this is a small thing, but it would go a hge way towards polish.
It's like the last missing piece.

Is there any way this can be made to work? Loving KDE and trying to port over
my "Windows shortcut instincts" and really this is the only thing I couldn't
replicate near perfectly!

Is the reason that it's mapped to sysrq as one comment mentions?

PS: WinKey+PrintScreen at least is a close workaround and no longer opens the
KDE menu when used for it.

[plasmashell] [Bug 360478] Desktop widgets and Folder View icons do not remember their sizes and positions on a per-resolution basis

2021-08-08 Thread Uwe Dippel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360478

Not really. It doesn't work all too well to mix the concept of SVG and
pixel-oriented items. The icons wouldn't be aware of closer localities and
overlap or being shifted around in an unforeseeable manner.
More than 15 years ago, at KDE3 we were aware that different screens would be
arriving, like large monitors, in landscape, and small portable ones,
eventually in portrait. And the intention was, to allow for seamless switching.
I had a number of discussions offline on this topic and how to solve it. Plasma
4 offered a crude, but working method: screen regions and then wrapping around.
Seemingly, this problem was removed off the focus. Desktop layout must be an
independent task, resolution and orientation aware, and scale according to
resolution (some mobiles have huge dpi values) and physical diagonale.

[www.kde.org] [Bug 440760] New: Search engine indexing for bugs on this website

2021-08-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440760

Bug ID: 440760
Summary: Search engine indexing for bugs on this website
   Product: www.kde.org
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: unspecified
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kde-...@kde.org
  Reporter: myndstr...@protonmail.ch
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
It seems like bugs on this website aren't indexed on search engines like
DuckDuckGo and Google.
Please enable indexing to allow users to find bugs here for their problem.

Many other bug tracking systems have search engine indexing enabled as well.
GitHub is one example and if bugs from here aren't transferred to there or a
similar site, it would be very useful to enable the indexing. The advantages of
doing so include that people can easily find out that their problem is a known
bug, developers may more easily find info needed to help fix these bugs, people
who would like to subscribe to progress about the bug can easily find the bug
page to subscribe to and in cases where users have more info about the bug or
how to solve it they can easily find the page they could contribute to.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Search for a bug very close to the bug's title or just copy and paste the
bug title into a search engine
2. Try to find a result of bugs.kde.org

OBSERVED RESULT
Can't find any result about the bug here or in some rare cases at least not the
link to the bugs.kde.org page for the bug.

EXPECTED RESULT
A search result for the bug in bugs.kde.org at/near the top.

I do not, in that case, know where to report this. To my knowledge, these

environment. The description of the Win 9x style is even 'built-in unthemed

[kwin] [Bug 422426] Implement Wayland Primary Selection Protocol bridge with XWayland

2021-08-08 Thread Bernie Innocenti
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422426

This is more of a regression than a wish: in X11, users were able to copy-paste
across all apps. Once they switch to a Wayland session, Qt5 and GTK3 apps
switch to Wayland native, while several other popular apps use XWayland's
legacy protocol.

Copy-pasting not working between the two groups breaks very basic workflows.
For me, it's usually copying text between Chrome and Konsole. This is why I'm
reluctant to migrate to Wayland until this is fixed (or until all the apps I
use daily have switched to Wayland).

[plasmashell] [Bug 440140] Icon resize behaviour inconsistent, affecting usability of unscaled high-resolution desktops

2021-08-08 Thread G_v_I
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440140

Thank you for the reply; I appreciate it!

This may not be the best place to ask, but does the global scale setting
actually up - or downscale items (using something like e.g. the Lanczos
algorithm), or does it cause the DE to use smaller or larger alternatives if
those are available?

I'm with the same NVIDIA driver version on Cinnamon and this problem is not
present there so it's not NVIDIA driver bug. I was with NVIDIA 460 and there
was no problems. After upgrading to Plasma 5.21 the problem appeared with the
same NVIDIA driver version (460). I tried different driver versions to no
avail. Now I'm with 470.57.02 but the problem persists.

[kasts] [Bug 440758] New: Add System Tray Icon And KDE Media Player Hooks

2021-08-08 Thread Kan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440758

Bug ID: 440758
Summary: Add System Tray Icon And KDE Media Player Hooks
   Product: kasts
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: b...@mogwai.be
  Reporter: kande...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Love this app, so thank you for all your work. Just wanted to suggest a few
missing features.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. It would be nice to have a system tray app with all the usual functionality,
minimize to tray, stop/play/pause, and exit.
2. It would also be nice to have the normal hoods into KDE's media player,
showing the podcast image, stop/play/pause, etc.
3. Many open source podcasters use gpodder.net's servers/sync. It would be nice
to be able to sync with gpodder.net to keep all devices and PC's podcasts in
sync.

[plasmashell] [Bug 420160] Session crashes when monitor goes into standby

2021-08-08 Thread Mircea Kitsune
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420160

(In reply to Zamundaaa from comment #43)

A virtual fallback output sounds like a promising start: From what I understood
so far these crashes occur because Wayland doesn't know how to handle being
left without any display device. At this point I can agree even with a way to
trick the pipeline into not freaking out in that scenario, even if it's not
ideal long term from a programming standpoint.

Unfortunately, as comment 44 describes above, even this doesn't resolve our
issue just yet. Thank you Seqularise for testing so rapidly to confirm this. Is
it known what else is happening to still cause those crashes?

[Powerdevil] [Bug 348082] monitor is randomly powered back on

2021-08-08 Thread Chris
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348082

It's probably not good for the monitor, it turning on and off, again and again,
without ever ending. Even if it's at a slow pace, the full cycle taking maybe
30 min.
This time, it was after two reboot, w/o login, then login, and not touch
anything, not launching any app. After 10 min, which is consistent with my
timer setting, the screen turns off. But then, like 20 min later it turns back
on, all by itself. Then back off. Etc.
Sometimes it never turns off.
Sometimes the screen locker doesn't even kick in, which can be considered a
security issue.
Sometimes, it turns off, then turns back on, then never turns back off again.
Things might get better when I hit Plasma 5.22.
Also when my sddm will use wayland, therefore in match with the session.
For now turn off screen, and even the locker, are mostly random. I can't rely
on them working, at all.

2021-08-08 Thread Chris

You can mimic `xset dpms force off` on wayland, doing:
`qdbus org.kde.kglobalaccel /component/org_kde_powerdevil invokeShortcut "Turn
Off Screen"`, even if it seems a bit convoluted, since it involves "shortcut"
instead of going straight to the point.

[Akonadi] [Bug 439769] Akonadi fails with Mariadb 10.6.3

2021-08-08 Thread Ricardo J. Barberis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439769

I had already done a mysql_upgrade and akonadi's mysqld wouldn't start, so in
case this helps other people with a broken akonadi, here's what I did (YMMV):

- Under "[mysqld]" in ~/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf I added:

"innodb_force_recovery = 2"

- Made sure it and akonadi were not running, and started mysqld with:

/usr/libexec/mysqld
--defaults-file=/home/myuser/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf
--datadir=/home/myuser/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/
--socket=/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.socket
--pid-file=/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.pid &

- Then I backed up akonadi's DB and deleted it after:

mysqldump -Q --socket=/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.socket --add-drop-table
akonadi > akonadi.sql
mysql--socket=/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.socket -e "DROP DATABASE akonadi"

- Stoped mysql:

mysqladmin -Q --socket=/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.socket shutdown

- Downgraded MariaDB 10.6.4 to 10.5.11 and started akonadi to recreate its
database:

akonadictl start

- After a few seconds I stopped akonadi and restored the SQL dump:

/usr/libexec/mysqld
--defaults-file=/home/myuser/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf
--datadir=/home/myuser/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/
--socket=/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.socket
--pid-file=/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.pid &

mysql --socket=/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.socket -e akonadi < akonadi.sql

- Shut down mysql, started akonadi again:

mysqladmin -Q --socket=/run/user/1000/akonadi/mysql.socket shutdown
akonadictl start

- Started kmail and everything looks good so far!

(Before trying all of this , out of caution, I made a backup of my mail folder
and everything related to akonadi and kmail I found under ~/.cache/, ~/.config/
and ~/.local/)

   Version: 5.84.0
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: pinak.ah...@gmail.com
  Reporter: tagwer...@innerjoin.org

SUMMARY:

xdg-mime (and baloo) does not seem to recognise user.mime_type
extended attributes. These are referenced as a "MAY" in:

https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/CommonExtendedAttributes/#generalattributesincurrentuse

so request flagged as "wishlist"

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

Create a test file with no recognised file extension, check the
mime type with xdg-mime

$ echo "Hello Penguin" > testfile.zzz
$ xdg-mime query filetype testfile.zzz
text/plain

Assign a "preferred" mime_type with setfattr:

$ setfattr -n user.mime_type -v "text/log" testfile.zzz

Check with xdg-mime and balooshow -x

OBSERVED RESULTS

$ xdg-mime query filetype testfile.zzz
text/plain

$ balooshow -x testfile.zzz

Note that keyboard repeat rate could be very low to trigger this bug, so it
doesn't seem like race condition. The video has repeat rate of 3 per second.

Kde show desktop bug video demo

SUMMARY

Using 'Show Desktop' function multiple (tens) times result in all opened
windows on current desktop to not render at all. They act as they are shown on
desktop, but no elements are drawn, not even window header.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Open any graphical application, say Kate.
2. Press and hold CTRL+F12 (default 'show desktop' combination) for 10-30
seconds.

OBSERVED RESULT

Kate window is not displayed on screen while still present in task manager. You
can 'minimize' and 'restore' the window, the cursor changes its shape where
Kate text field should be shown, but the window is just not rendered: not the
content, not the WM header with title and buttons.

EXPECTED RESULT

Window is rendered as usual.

[kontact] [Bug 440750] New: Caldav and Cardav Support For Mailfence Email Service Not Working

2021-08-08 Thread Kan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440750

Bug ID: 440750
Summary: Caldav and Cardav Support For Mailfence Email Service
Not Working
   Product: kontact
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: contacts
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: kande...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I was asked on KDE's sub-reddit to open a ticket, after the contributor there
tested my claim that Kontact/Kmail's caldav/cardav support did not work with
Mailfence.com's Cardav/Caldav. He came to the same conclusion, it does not
work. I think I also ran into this problem when I used Fastmail servers/service
as well a few years back.

There is a separate bug report opened in 2018 that looks to be ignored, asking
for TLS certificate support for Caldav/Cardav. I note that here because
Mailfence uses TLS certificates in their IMAP settings. Not sure if the issues
are related, but worth noting. That bug report is here;
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393951

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Used the DAv groupware resource
2. Entered user name and password
3. Hit the 'Add' Server Configuration, selected Cardav, and entered the remote
URL provided by Mailfence.com
4. The Server Configuration box populates, so there is a connection, but it
never connects after hitting the OK button when performing a refresh in
Kontact/Kmail, etc.

OBSERVED RESULT
No Caldav/Cardav connection, kind of a time-out situation.

EXPECTED RESULT
For it to fetch and push contact and calendar information

[dolphin] [Bug 440749] New: enlarge scrollbar width

2021-08-08 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: phil40...@gmail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

I have absolutely no idea which component to choose for this bug, as it affects
all KDE apps.

Frequently Asked Question on the web:
How to enlarge the width of scrollbars, esp. with 4K monitors are they are
"ridiculously thin" some says, I do agree.

Solution under GTK:
Create the file ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css if it doesn’t already exists and
paste the following CSS rules in it:

scrollbar, scrollbar button, scrollbar slider {
min-width: 10px;
min-height: 10px;
}

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This ought to be independant of any theme

Examples of complains:

Git commit d621c15fc7b9d62250fa9df420933477b0636e53 by Nate Graham.
Committed on 08/08/2021 at 17:59.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'.

[Folder View] When folder previews are disabled, disable them on hover too

It's logical that if the user disables this feature, they want it off
everywhere, not just in one of the two places where it can currently
appear.

1) Want to upload an appropriate image
2) Open file picker
2) Scan directory with thumbnail view to find one I like
3) Find something interesting but I'm not sure if I want to use it
4) Maybe it has a small detail like small text I need to check out
5) I would prefer to open this image with the image viewer to fully inspect it
6) Only option is "Open Containing Folder" which opens a Dolphin instance and
goes to the file. An extra instance which I will have to close later.

If there was an "Open" or "Open Image" option in the context menu of thumbnails
I could quickly open/use/close image viewers when inspecting the images without
having to open an extra Dolphin instance.

This could be expanded to other kinds of files beyond images of course.
