[okular] [Bug 443055] New: Pdf File's Size Changed to 0 Bytes After Sudden Power Outage

2021-09-27 Thread Jason Liam
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443055

Bug ID: 443055
Summary: Pdf File's Size Changed to 0 Bytes After Sudden Power
Outage
   Product: okular
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: jlame...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I was reading a book using Okular. I made some annotations and then pressed
Ctrl+S to save the changes. Just 2 seconds after i pressed Ctrl+S there was a
power outage and my pc powered off(note pc didn't have any UPS). Next when the
power came back on i started my pc and found that the same pdf file is now
occupying 0 bytes of space. Unfortunately, i was not using git in this case so
i cannot get the old file back.

I have found that there are some xml files under the folder
/home/username/.local/share/okular/docdata/ that correspond to my old pdf. For
example the files are named like:
/home/username/.local/share/okular/docdata/4297319.NetworkProgramming.pdf.xml
/home/username/.local/share/okular/docdata/4298415.NetworkProgramming.pdf.xml
...

My question is that Is there a way to get back my old pdf file back using these
above xml files? For example, i have an old pdf which is the same as the old
pdf except that this one doesn't have any annotations in it. So Will it be
possible to add these xml information into that file(that doesn't have any
annotation)?

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 x86_64 and Okular 1.3.3

Sorry, let me clarify. I am a theme maker and this worked properly in the past.

What I am describing is that, microphone.svg and audio.svg are both present in
the theme and both contain 16-16 variants of their respective icon. However,
since the audio slider rework, the mute button for microphone does not appear
to respect the appropriate icon size, but the audio mute button does.

[frameworks-plasma] [Bug 442929] Header and footer incorrectly draw corners

No SVGs have to be changed, plasmoidheading is already made in a 9x9 grid.
Based on what I see, it appears that a rectangle is made from the 9 parts and
it just resizes to fit the area of the header/footer. It does not appear to
omit sides when the parent dialog has done so, so the 8 parts of the frame are
always drawn. This means that the footer of a a plasmoid (say kickoff) has its
bottom border drawn when the plasmoid itself is attached to the panel below it,
even though the plasmoid has removed its bottom border.

I am unsure if this functionality will harm themes that take advantage of
always having the entire frame shown, so an option to decide whether to draw
the entire frame or not may be warranted. Without such an option, only floating
plasmoids will have the entire frame of the header/footer drawn.

I think it is because the power profiles slider in the battery & brightness
applet only works with hardware that supports the performance profile in
addition to the other two profiles, so if you are on hardware that only
supports power-saver and balanced, the slider won't show up.

Sounds about right; that's what happens when you fork a theme instead of just
customizing the wallpaper or whatever smaller changes you wanted to make. :)

Niel, is there anything we can do upstream to make it easier for distros to
customize elements of the SDDM theme without needing to ship a fork?

  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Priority: NOR

Created attachment 141972
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=141972=edit
Progress bar with no ability to minimize

SUMMARY

I have been using Krusader on a few different Linux distributions and have seen
different behavior depending on the distro. I had been using Linux Mint
Cinnamon for about a year and a half and then switched due to an issue with
VMware Workstation performance.

On Linux Mint Cinnamon and on my current distribution, Pop!_OS (System 76)

Distributor ID: Pop
Description:Pop!_OS 21.04
Release:21.04
Codename: hirsute

Whenever I copy or move a file the progress bar is always on top and I am
unable to minimize it.

In between the Linux Mint Cinnamon and the Pop!_OS installations I ran Kubuntu.
While using Kubuntu I experienced the behavior that I would expect from the
copy / move progress bar. I was able to minimize the progress bar so that it
was unobtrusive / out of the way.

So, why is it that the progress bar can be minimized on Kubuntu, but not on
other Linux distros?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Copy or move any file
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
Unable to minimize the progress bar

gwenview (20.12.3) using Qt 5.15.2

- What I was doing when the application crashed:

This seems to happen reliably on jpg's produced by darktable.
Darktable-rendered pics all cause the crash. These were all NEF (Nikon) raw
processed into jpg. JPG's made by other tools seem to all work fine.

[krita] [Bug 443045] New: Left-clicking with crop tool after crop action undoes last crop

2021-09-27 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443045

Bug ID: 443045
Summary: Left-clicking with crop tool after crop action undoes
last crop
   Product: krita
   Version: 5.0.0-beta1
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tools
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tomtomtomreportin...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
For some reason, after a crop action is done, left-clicking on the canvas with
the crop tool will not only create a crop box encompassing the whole image, but
it will also undo the last crop if it's the last item on the undo stack. The
user can Redo this unexpected crop. It happens regardless if the crop action
shrunk or grew the canvas.

Not a regression of Krita 5.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create an image.
2. Select the crop tool and crop any portion.
3. Left-click after crop.

OBSERVED RESULT
The last crop has been undone.

EXPECTED RESULT
No undo action should occur on left-click.

[krita] [Bug 443044] New: Crop box snapping is unreliable after crop box movement

2021-09-27 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443044

Bug ID: 443044
Summary: Crop box snapping is unreliable after crop box
movement
   Product: krita
   Version: 5.0.0-beta1
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tools
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tomtomtomreportin...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Crop boxes often don't snap properly to the image bounds after moving the crop
box. To work around this the user must either zoom in or create a new crop box.

Not a regression of Krita 5.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Reproduceability of the bug might depend on the current zoom level. Try using
zoom levels below 100%.
1. Make sure Snap to Image Bounds is enabled.
2. Create a 532x532 image.
3. Select Crop tool and create a crop box encompassing the whole image.
4. Move the crop box some pixels to the right.
5. Try resizing the crop box so it snaps to the image bounds.

OBSERVED RESULT
The crop box doesn't snap to the actual image bounds.

EXPECTED RESULT
The crop box should still be able to snap to image bounds while resizing after
it's been moved.

plasma-discover (5.22.5) using Qt 5.15.3

- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Checking Discovery for Updates

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
It opened, stating that there was no internet connection - which is not true,
as I had a steady and stable connection.

- Custom settings of the application:
None that I can remember. Automatic updates are turned on in System Settings
however.

If changing kernels fixes the issue, then it clearly is an issue with the
graphics driver you end up using.

There might be things we could do from KWin on it but it's rather limited as we
are as good as the graphics drivers are anyway.

If you find any ideas why this could be report it and if we get to reproduce it
maybe we have a chance at addressing it.

In this case opacity is used to provide a nice animated transition as it

Nate Graham, please Comment 10 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442912#c10

If I right-click on the desktop and choose "Configure Desktop and Wallpaper",
the expected window appears. But inside that dialog, switching to the
"Wallpaper Type: Picture of the Day" and "Provider: Astronomy (NASA)" leads to
the same exact Server Authentication error as described above and demonstrated
on the screenshots.

If I use this workaround and switch to a non-broken "Wallpaper Type", then in
"System Settings" > "Quick Settings", the button "Change Wallpaper..." is
unfortunately still broken. (See second video recording)

[plasmashell] [Bug 442921] Icons in task manager shrink too much, too abruptly

Was playing with it again, now I noticed that the issue does not happen while
launching apps that add icons, but while triggering actions that widen existing
widgets (such as playing a file with a long name while having the “media player
compact” widget), and also when changing the settings for maximum number of
rows and clicking "Apply".

And by the way they do scale and have many sizes inbetween those. The problem
is particularly once they shrink below 16px. When adding icons by launching
apps, they then start overlapping once shrunk enough, but when shrunk by other
means, they shrink too much.

In any case, even when adding icons by launching apps, they shrink more than
necessary (for example, after reaching 20px or so, they continue shrinking as I
add more icons despite roughly 1/4 of the panel space being free), and the
icons are the only thing that shrinks, while latte also shrinks other widgets
(which looks better as some widgets have too much space inbetween when put next
to each other in a plasma panel compared to a latte dock).

Awesome!

Interestingly, all examples of PlaceholderMessage.qml do suggest using
visibility property, not opacity. Rare case when can't blame documentation :)

Git commit 06033717b97e6c95ad4ad37a05673308fc1a07e3 by Nate Graham.
Committed on 27/09/2021 at 21:53.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'Plasma/5.23'.

sidebar: make placeholder message non-visible when at 0 opacity

It might seem like these do the same things, but they do not. By not
being invisible, the message was intercepting hover events and making
certain list items not highlight when hovered.

Icons do not smoothly scale because this would cause them to get blurry at the
smaller sizes in particular; rather, they snap between the following
pre-defined sizes:

16px
22px
32px
48px
64px
128px

As you can see, there are some pretty big jumps between sizes especially at the
higher end of this scale. But typically people don't use icons that large in
their Task Managers. Can you maybe attach a screen recording that shows the
icon scaling behavior you're seeing which also shows the height of your panel?
