[kstars] [Bug 459471] New: Satellites Not Shown
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459471 Bug ID: 459471 Summary: Satellites Not Shown Classification: Applications Product: kstars Version: 3.6.0 Platform: Kubuntu OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: mutla...@ikarustech.com Reporter: rmiller...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Kstars is not processing satellites. There are a multitude of TLE files in /home/bob/.local/kstars. These files used to contain the two line element (TLE) representations of the satellites. Now those files all say something like Document Moved Object MovedThis document may be found http://celestrak.org/NORAD/elements/geodetic.txt;>here and that's it. No data. If one goes to http://celestrak.org/NORAD/elements/geodetic.txt you will find all the geodetic satellite TLEs. However, updating the satellite data via Kstars loads the same empty files. A workaround is to go to the NORAD site and download the data into the appropriate .tle file. Kstars will read that data, plot the satellites, find a satellite in the Pointing menu, etc. However, after downloading and saving a .tle file, make sure to change the r/w permissions to read only; otherwise the next satellite update will overwrite with an essentially blank file. Running kstars-bleeding STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: kubuntu (ubuntu 20 LTS) All software (INDI, kstars, etc) is up to date KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kwin] [Bug 459467] New: WindowHeap-based transitions not consistent with global animations
and the neon testing ISO, I ran it on all my machines for a final check, and was able to comment out a patch from my personal build. However, when building from latest master a few days ago to test the new window placement improvments, I noticed right away that the change in https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/merge_requests/2948 has re-introduced the inconsistency by lowering the duration to 300ms. At this point, I really did think that I was going nutty, and forced myself to use the 300ms system for a few hours. It did not feel not right, and I ended up changing it back for my daily use. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Grab neon-testing-20220920-1824.iso (and optionally Kubuntu 21.10 or similar with 5.22 for the last functional version of the old desktop grid) 2. Use the System Settings KCM to adjust the Animation Duration up and down, and to set basic configuration for Desktop Grid+Virtual Desktops. 3. Engage the Overview (Meta+W), the Desktop Grid (Ctrl+F8), and Windowview (Ctrl+F10) and compare to other effects such as Virtual Desktop slide. OBSERVED RESULT The WindowView effect transitions start and stop faster than the rest of the Kwin effects. EXPECTED RESULT WindowView effects should match the rest of the system and feel consistent. [neon] [Bug 459465] New: dpkg installer error broke sddm-greeter; left me with no GUI (black screen)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459465 Bug ID: 459465 Summary: dpkg installer error broke sddm-greeter; left me with no GUI (black screen) Classification: KDE Neon Product: neon Version: unspecified Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org Reporter: phil.h...@gmail.com CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 152295 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=152295=edit sddm logs from syslog SUMMARY Installed updates today using Discover and Offline updates. There was an error during update of one of the packages. After this, the login screen no longer appeared. This error appeared in syslog: sddm-greeter[1004]: Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (5.15.5) with this library (5.15.6) I was able to recover by running startplasma-wayland from another shell, then reinstalling the list of packages shown in /var/log/apt/history.log manually. But this was not useful when I couldn't even login before. The failed package was pipewire: Failed to update 1 package Error while installing package: trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/alsa-lib/libasound_module_ctl_pipewire.so', which is also in package pipewire-audio-client-libraries I'm not sure how (or if) this led to the Qt5 library incompatibility. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 376727] Can't navigate between menu entries using arrow keys
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=376727 ratijas changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED Ever confirmed|0 |1 CC||m...@ratijas.tk --- Comment #10 from ratijas --- Can confirm that assigning a keyboard shortcut to a Global Menu applet while in "Single button" mode is useless. It will show an applet tooltip and focus on it instead of an actual menu, and sometimes will also show a menuunder that tooltip as well. However, once you manage to focus an actual menu, key navigation works fine there. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 409335] Alt+letter keystrokes doesn't work in global menu for some non-KDE apps
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409335 ratijas changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED Ever confirmed|0 |1 CC||m...@ratijas.tk --- Comment #2 from ratijas --- Can confirm. For example, in Sublime Text which is GTK-based on Linux, pressing shortcuts like Alt+F opens a GTK menu right below the tabbar. Clearly, Sublime Text handles them on its own. Mnemonic accelerators displayed in a Global Menu applet and the ones actually registered in app just happen to coincide sometimes, but what you see underscored may not be what would actually be invoked. Even some first-class KDE applications won't integrate with the Global Menu very well. For instance, Konsole sends all the Alt+letter shortcuts as special escape-sequences to the active session. Global Menu definitely lacks understanding which shortcuts are already taken/registered in app. Not sure that it is solvable in general case, but we should give it a shot. Maybe some standardization effort wouldn't hurt. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 434783] Global menu is bugged in sublime text editor
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=434783 ratijas changed: What|Removed |Added Ever confirmed|0 |1 CC||m...@ratijas.tk Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED --- Comment #1 from ratijas --- Can confirm, both for Sublime Text and Sublime Merge. Likely a GTK client bug on their side. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[plasmashell] [Bug 394706] Global menu widget on external monitors run even without monitors conected
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394706 ratijas changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED Ever confirmed|0 |1 CC||m...@ratijas.tk --- Comment #1 from ratijas --- Can confirm, this is still an issue. I have some panels configured for the monitors which I currently don't have physical access to, and I can't get built-in menus to show up again, unless I use the new feature "Panels and Desktops Management" window from Plasma edit mode to manually remove all the offending panels — or at least Global Menu applets from them. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[systemsettings] [Bug 458976] Simplify and/or explain focus stealing prevention modes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=458976 --- Comment #9 from Natalie Clarius --- What about the "whatsThis" texts? We actually already have inline help for all of the items in the KCM - except it doesn't seem to be working; I assume these texts are supposed to be shown on hover, but that's not happening for me. This does not necessarily preclude adding a label text in addition and/or porting to QML some time in the future, but it would be nice if we could actually make use of the help we already have. Does someone know what's up with this feature? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
