Can you run digiKam from a console to see all debug statements printed before
to crash ? digiKam executable is installed in

In an old DB the tag _Digikam_root_tag_ still exists. When a new DB is created,
the tag _Digikam_root_tag_ no longer appear. Do we need QRegExp? Is enough no

I was having similar issues under Manjaro 16.06.1

Steps are the same.

Error was reproducible always until I did the following.

I disabled OpenGL then re-enabled it after a restart of the application.
It stopped producing the error, which was originally a seg fault. However, this
may potentially be unrelated, but it doesn't actually display the onion skin
overlay, with or without OpenGL.

I am using proprietary Nvidia Drivers for a  GeForce GT 610.

Side note: Sorry if this was irrelevant, I'm new to open source bug reporting.

When i zoom into the picture and drag the image around with the middle mouse
button, anything over 33.3 is when the image overlaps itself very glitch like
(As in i move my mouse over the glitch and it goes away- But still lags.) And,
when i try to zoom in the image itself becomes very blurry unless it is at
100.0% but, even then it lags out.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Zoom in too 100.0%
2. Middle mouse button drag
3. Lags out. Anything lower than 100.0% is when it lags and breaks the image.

Actual Results:  
The entire image lagged and was very difficult to work with it breaking and
glitching...

Expected Results:  
The image should not have blurred, Over lapped/glitched out the image itself
and should have had no lag what so ever.

A few builds back, there was a new feature in the Project Bin context menu to
show where in the timeline the clip actually was, then it moves the timeline
cursor to the beginning of that clip you selected. Frankly, the highlight thing
would be a nice improvement, but I think this works well enough to satisfy the
request. Nice work JB! Marking this suggestion as resolved.

Hi wolthera, thanks, I overlooked that.

Usually I tend to pan over the canvas by doing "Right click" since it helps me
to stay focused when working on small viewports.

For this, I'm wondering if "CTRL+Z" wouldn't be maybe an equally good choice
for undoing the last created node (ESC would be for cancel the path).

I am finally close to fixing this issue. Problem is that the track compositing
in Kdenlive (and shotcut) uses the frei0r.cairoblend transition. There is one
transition between each track, but because of its current design, the
transition is performed even if the track had no transparency.

So if you put 3 clips on 3 different tracks one above the other, the transition
requests a frame for each clip and performs a compositing operation between
each track, resulting in the huge framedrop you noticed.

I have now written a new transition for MLT (qtblend) that checks if the top
frame has transparency and if it does not, it stops here, so there is no
performance loss. I am doing the final testing and hope to merge that in MLT
and integrate in Kdenlive next week for the 16.08 release.

Sorry for the delay. This is in fact not really a bug but a problem in the way
Kdenlive (and MLT) handles alpha transparency and transitions. Title clips use
antialiasing to provide smooth edges.

However, currently to be displayed correctly in Kdenlive / MLT, an image with
alpha transparency must have a transition attached to it. In your project, the
title has a composite transition, which is correct.

Now the problem here is that transitions in Kdenlive cannot be applied on an
empty track. In your project, you have the title clip on top track, and the
transition is applied with the track below, which is empty - reason why it does
not work.

So to solve your problem, you must either:
* put a clip on the track below your title
* change the transition parameters (the track parameter) to apply transition on
the background black track (in the "track" combobox, select "black"). this will
make the transition work and text will look fine.

I am well aware that this behavior is confusing and problematic and have been
working on a solution to make transparency correctly handled by default. I hope
to introduce that for the 16.08 release in august.

Changing KActivities to be more synchronous is a tad more intrusive than I
hoped it would be - it is designed to have everything as asynchronous as
possible.

The change in the ScriptEngine would be much simpler, and would IMO be what it

it's getting inside the first if() in here:

Doing the obvious fix on that fixes the bug. (plus again in
KStatusNotifierItem::activate where the code is repeated for no reason)

However, d->menu shouldn't  be null - you're clearly setting one.

Will investigate that - or maybe just get rid of the plasma SNI integration
given that's in Qt now..

There are quite a number of plans to improve this situation, but you may not be
aware that:

a. People doing sysadmin work / forum are all volounteers;
b. There isn't a sufficiently large number of people to tackle such complex
issues in a timely manner;
c. Even "regular" maintenance requires a lot of work, so larger plans move
slowly.

What else can be done? Not ideal, but we got to do what we can until the
situation improves.
