Created attachment 103611

Wrong history of Samsung images

It seems an old problem is back (see
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323210 ), at least very similar.
I noticed that a lot of images I downloaded from a Samsung S3 smartphone have a
history showing "Derived Images And Identical Images That Are Neither Derived
Nor Identical". See attachment!
It seems that all these images in the history are edited by digiKam, at least
the metadata. If I go to one of these images it also shows this screwed up
history. All the false derived or identical images are from the same Samsung S3
as far as I could find out up to now.

Regarding the crash on arch it says "That's a well-known and long-standing
issue in Arch. Their VLC is still using Qt4, and KF5 applications crash when
they try to play a notification sound with the phonon-backend-vlc".

Regarding the openSUSE crash on mysql start the forum thread also says that
this is about to be fixed in Tumbleweed by cleaning up stale socket files,
dunno if this only affects Tumbleweed though.

[kwin] [Bug 375389] Kwin chrashes when adding new album

Martin Gräßlin changed:

This is a technical bug tracker and in order to fix bugs we need to keep
to some rules. One of the rules is "one issue per bug report" another is
"the issue is described in the first comment". You reported a crash
through our crash reporting tool. This crash is in Aurorae. Thus this
bug report is about the issue about aurorae and nothing else. If you
want to report another issue, please report a new bug.

For us developers it's impossible to manage bugs if reports are about
multiple and different issues. Please understand this. We get every day
for KWin about 5 new bug reports. One of our main task is just to manage
them. Fixing happens at a different time. In order to fix bugs the
reports need to be in a high quality. They must be precise. A developer
must be able to look at it and understand where the bug is. If a bug
report mentions multiple issues in different areas it's not possible. In
this specific case: a developer will look at the first comment, see the
well known Aurorae issue and move on.

So I kindly ask to leave this bug report as a duplicate and to report
any other issue as a new bug report.

A. Wilcox (awilfox) changed:

I actually hit this. As a distro maintainer, I started a shell session on 11
December to start porting our base system to PowerPC. I then started building
Qt 5.7 (and all its dependencies). Then KDE Frameworks 5. While building
Phonon, I noticed weird corruption of the build results.

I am using Konsole 16.08.3 with KF 5.28. When I saved the shell output, it was
in very weird pieces/chunks, like this (the first few lines of the resultant
file, unedited):

storyn.
/t
mp/envi
onment'.
ch is o
 non-c
ass type ‘int’
operator=(const QStyleOptionGraphicsItem&)’ first required here
64 -ggdb -mcpu=G3 -fno-omit-frame-pointer -Wall -Wextra -Wsign-compare -Wundef
-Wpointer-arith -Wvolatile-registe

It seems to me that somewhere, a signed 32-bit integer is being used:

-rw--- 1 awilcox awilcox 2147485900 Jan 23 16:03
/tmp/konsole-hF4401.history

That `ls -l` was run at 16:15 and Phonon was still building, so all the output
was just being lost. Actually, the previous output was also being corrupted.

This occurs for me too:

 - Under Settings->Configure KMail->Identities
 - edit an identitiy
 - go to "Advanced" tab
 - The "Autocorrection lanuage" field shows "Abkhazian".
 - Change to "English"
 - Click "OK"

Returning back to the same setting, the field has reverted to "Abkhazian".

[krita] [Bug 375479] New: 16-bit files are too bright; Krita should read the TIFFTAG_DCSGAMMA tag

2017-01-23 Thread sparhawk
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375479

Bug ID: 375479
Summary: 16-bit files are too bright; Krita should read the
TIFFTAG_DCSGAMMA tag
   Product: krita
   Version: 3.1.1
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: File formats
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kdeb...@plast.id.au
  Target Milestone: ---

= Steps to reproduce =
* Process RAW image with Ufraw; export as 16-bit TIFF.
* Import image into Krita.

= Observed result =
* Image looks too bright.

= Expected result =
* Image looks normal. This is confirmed in Gimp (git version), Dolphin's
preview, and Gwenview.
* See screenshot showing Gimp on the left and Krita on the right. As you can
see, the histograms look consistent between the two.
http://i.imgur.com/HsqDcUG.png

* In addition, exporting from Ufraw into 8-bit, then viewing this file in Krita
works fine.

[kwin] [Bug 363224] Kwin crashes from time to time (this time using Virtual Machine Manager)

2017-01-23 Thread awilfox
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363224

If it helps any, I can relay that I am using Translucency, but none of the
Dialogue (Base, Parent, etc) effects are enabled.

Again, on amdgpu.ko with a Radeon R9 270. I will gladly test the patch on my
system; though I run in to this so rarely that I can't reliably reproduce it, I
can still ensure it does not do any further damage either.

My system is always under heavy load because the I/O is crap due to buggy/bad
SATA drivers. So I cannot comment on whether that causes it or not.

[plasmashell] [Bug 375257] VirtualBox mini toolbar doesn't respond to mouse clicks

I installed both Gnome 3 and Enlightenment on Kubuntu (not virtualized) now.
The VirtualBox mini toolbar works perfectly on both Gnome 3 and Enlightenment
(as well as KDE 4). So, I'm back to my initial report that this issue is
certainly tied directly to KDE 5. I'm obviously no expert, but I still feel
like it is a window management issue. Any ideas other than KWin and
Plasmashell that could be responsible for this issue?

I have no idea, and the author does not want to use this bug to discuss the

[digikam] [Bug 375474] New: Renaming People Tag Causes Unpredictable Sort Order

2017-01-23 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375474

Bug ID: 375474
Summary: Renaming People Tag Causes Unpredictable Sort Order
   Product: digikam
   Version: 5.4.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: AlbumsView
  Assignee: digikam-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: hardy.pub...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

In People Tags, right clicking then renaming in the Properties dialogue causes
a semi random sort order.

If I have the following to start with:

Albert
Annie F
Arnold H
:
Zoe

Then right-click -> Properties then rename "Annie F" to "Annie A", the sort
order in People Tags might be:

Albert
Arnold H
Annie A
:
Zoe

Note the placement of Annie appears semi-random. If I repeat the test,
sometimes Annie A appears after Zoe.

Albert
Arnold H
:
Zoe
Annie A

Also note that opening the Tag Manager does not have the problem.

The correct order is restored if I restart DigiKam to

Albert
Annie A
Arnold H
:
Zoe

[digikam] [Bug 374091] Theme application menu icons combine theme with icon theme.

2017-01-23 Thread Geoff King
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374091

I like the idea of combining the two. I think it would be a good
simplification to have these settings in the same place or combined. I have a
couple suggestions depending on the OS used (Mac or Windows). These could be
considered separate, but I'll group here for now as they are interrelated.

For Mac 10.11:
-On Mac the background of the system menus (for example the Browse menu at top
of screen) always remain the same gray color, regardless of the theme or icons
selected [this is different than on Windows]. The icon colors do affect the
colors in these menus and the "Breeze Dark" icons are too light (white on
gray). So the Mac version should always use icons and text that have a dark
color such as "Breeze" in these menus regardless of other settings.
-The icons and text in the GUI (Such as Properties on the right side or Albums
on the left) are dependent on the selected color theme and icon scheme. Below
is a map of recommended Themes combined with Icons to use in the GUI

Mac :
Theme Name - GUI Icons
Default - Breeze
Black Body - Breeze Dark
Color Contrast - Breeze Dark
Dark Room - Breeze Dark
Gray Card - Breeze Dark
High Key - Breeze
Low Key - Breeze Dark
Shade Of Gray - Breeze Dark
Sunset Color - Breeze Dark
White Balance - Breeze

Windows:
This is a little different. All the menus have the same color background. So
the same matrix of themes and icons can be used for all.. You could use the
same map list as above.

Additionally I've adjusted the names below so that they all have spaces in them
(can report a separate bug for this if you like)

Universal Python patch for KFileMetadata 5.23-5.29

The test scripts for external extractor and external writer use a simple Python
script. This is great, but there are two issues with the scripts:

- unnecessary imports of {os.path,os,subprocess}
- shebang uses /usr/bin/python2 when the scripts function on Python 3.4 and 3.5

Attached patch should work, and has been tested on the following matrix:

- KFileMetadata 5.23, 5.26, and 5.29.
- glibc and musl libcs on Linux 4.4 kernel
- x86, x86_64, ppc
- Python 2.7, Python 3.4.4, Python 3.5.2

Image of About To Delete Dialogue.

If I right click on an album with subalbums, the "About to delete" dialogue
column "Path" contains duplicate entries.

For example, if I right-click on TopAlbum, I see the following:

Thumb Path
==
  TopAlbum/Sub1
  TopAlbum/Sub2
  TopAlbum/Sub2 <- Duplicate
  TopAlbum/Sub3

Also the total number of albums selected is therefore incorrect.

It crashes a lot. Does not seem to matter what item is selected to configure
but sometimes it will go back to "All Settings" and not crash. The biggest
offenders are, IIRC, "Font", "Desktop Behaviour", "Application Style" and
"Startup and Shutdown" items.
Generally, the changed settings are saved but not applied(after "Apply" is
selected). Sometimes the new settings are applied (changes can be seen) but
when systemsettings5 crashes the settings are lost and it reverts to the
default. I know, ...weird.

I can make it crash everytime as above but sometimes when I am configuring an
item it will not crash until the main window is closed. Then

2017-01-23 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375469

Bug ID: 375469
Summary: Polygon ruler: displayed values of area in km² are
huge for non-convex polygons
   Product: marble
   Version: 2.1 (KDE Applications 16.12)
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: marble-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: kdemar...@dontsendmespam.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 103606
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=103606=edit
Screenshot: perimeter 70 m, area 255 million km²

When you add measure points such that the area enclosed by the route along the
points is not convex, then the area is not calculated (or displayed) correctly.
It seems that there are "negative" areas, but the little info box does only
show unsigned values of roughly 255 million km².

Steps to reproduce:
Place three measure points like in "N" oder "Z".
(It works for any odd number of points on a zig-zag-line as well.)

Easy solution: allow negative values and let the user know that 255 million is
actually a miscalculation

Best regards,
Mario Holldack

I only used your kde-tool for reporting a bug.

So this is a new bug with brezze but the same behaviour of kwin as in aurorae.
It quite seems something is wrong with kwin not with any kind of decoration,
when this happens in breeze and aurorae.

stock_folder icon overwrite bug

KDE Plasma Version: 5.8.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.26.0
Qt Version: 5.6.2

As a regular user setting an a custom icon through dolphin's folder properties
dialog on a root owned folder results in all stock_folder icons being
overwritten.

To try and replicate:
 - Right click any root owned folder (e.g /mnt/) and open the Properties dialog
 - Change the default icon to something else
 - refresh dolphins view and the icon becomes default for all folders instead
of just the selected folder.

no this bug is not about breeze. Your initial comment clearly shows a backtrace

[digikam] [Bug 123097] SCAN : ignore some directories in digiKam [patch]

2017-01-23 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=123097

--- Comment #45 from caulier.gil...@gmail.com ---
Jan,

I'm not fully satisfied by this patch.

1/ we must set a default ignore list of files/directories already know as
problematic while scanning collections

For example :

- under MacOS, .DS_Store hidden files are created everywhere by Desktop search
engines. This bloat disk of course but there is no way that i know to disable
this feature.

- Under Linux/Plasma, Dolphin files manager permit to customize icon view order
by directory. This generate .directory hidden files.

- Under Linux/Plasma, the trash tool create an hidden directory .Trash-_userid_
with a content of deleted files. This one must be ignored by digiKam.

And i forget certainly some hidden files/directories under other desktops as
Gnome or Windows.

I propose to set a list that we know already to ignore. This list must be
visible by end user from config panel, like it's already done in View/Mime-Type
section for each setting.

[plasmashell] [Bug 375460] New: Panel doesn't disappear when using Steam Big Picture

2017-01-23 Thread Buck Shockley
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375460

Bug ID: 375460
Summary: Panel doesn't disappear when using Steam Big Picture
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.8.5
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Panel
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: darkwingbuc...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

If you enter Steam Big Picture, the panel disappears fine, but if you open and
close a game, there's a delay between when the game closes and when Big Picture
reappears. When that happens, the panel won't disappear unless Big Picture is
closed and opened again, so it just sits on top of Big Picture.

Hi!

Current git master is in use (instead of 2.5.0 as far as another bug fix is not
released yet). Copying or moving to cifs-mounted folder doesn't update
destination panel. I must select and refresh that panel. Up to date Manjaro
Linux is in use (that is a couple of week behind Arch Linux).

[valgrind] [Bug 374940] i386: Stack access at -1(%%esp)

2017-01-23 Thread Julian Seward
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374940

FWIW, the ppc32-elf ABI says

Data in the stack segment at addresses below the stack pointer
  contain undefined values.

The ppc64-elf ABI says

As discussed later in this chapter, the lowest valid stack address is
288 bytes less than the value in the stack pointer.
(ppc64-ELF has a 288 byte red zone, so this says, in effect, any
address below the redzone is invalid).

You might be able to argue that for x86-linux, with the kernel sources
as they now stand, that libev is "safe". But for sure you can't say
it's portable. Will the same guarantees hold on, eg, x86-freebsd?
Or for non-x86 architectures on Linux?

Page fault based stack extension only applies to the main thread's stack.

Why does libev have to be non-conforming in this way? There are plenty of
other packages that do high-performance thread stuff and I've never heard
of any of them doing anything like this.

Since it's in 5.8, it is probably not related to the tooltip redesign in 5.9. I
speculate, that it's because of all thumbnails being rendered at the same time.
To confirm this, try to minimize most of the 50 windows. Then thumbnail loading
should be aborted (as long as not activated in system settings) and there
should be no freeze.

[plasmashell] [Bug 375458] New: Plasma crashes when enabling a calendar in the PIM Events Plugin

2017-01-23 Thread court
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375458

Bug ID: 375458
Summary: Plasma crashes when enabling a calendar in the PIM
Events Plugin
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.8.5
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: courthic...@gmail.com
CC: bhus...@gmail.com, plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Application: plasmashell (5.8.5)

Qt Version: 5.7.1
Frameworks Version: 5.29.0
Operating System: Linux 4.9.4-201.fc25.x86_64 x86_64
Distribution: "Fedora release 25 (Twenty Five)"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I was adding a calendar to the digital clock widget on my toolbar via the PIM
Events Plugin

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
Hitting apply would lock up plasma until it crashed and reloaded. The calendar
still does not load into the plugin

- Custom settings of the application:
My own personal CalDAV to add to the clock widget, but that's it

The crash can be reproduced every time.

[krita] [Bug 375073] When close to the edge, popup palette auto-selects brush under cursor.

2017-01-23 Thread Quiralta

Hi Boud, thanks for checking, indeed is a Plasma system on arch, I also notice
this weekend that only happens with the tablet/stylus, mouse behaves normal.
But now that you mention I wonder if this is a DE bug and not a Krita. Will
keep checking and update if I find something else to add.

Ok I just install throug the ppa but where can I find the debug symbols, there
is a page about Dr. Mingw for windows on the wiki but I didn't find information
for linux...
A new crash just made a crash report which was "sent" but I dont know where...
Do you have a page on how to make useful crash report on linux?

[Powerdevil] [Bug 375457] New: Low battery applet animation uses a lot of CPU

2017-01-23 Thread Dave Flogeras
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375457

Bug ID: 375457
Summary: Low battery applet animation uses a lot of CPU
   Product: Powerdevil
   Version: 5.8.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: dfloger...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

On this Vaio Pro 13 (Integrated Intel graphics), once the battery reaches 5%
and the applet begins its throbbing animation, the CPU usage is between 15% and
25%. Seems counterproductive to use more CPU when almost out of juice.

Hi David,

Right now the xp-pen isn't supported: the drivers are, like most uc-logic based
tablets beyond horrendous. It isn't like Photoshop supports the tablet: the
driver developers make their drivers support photoshop. That's their first
goal, and if they break the wintab spec while doing so, they don't care.

Without test hardware, which we cannot afford, we cannot even try to figure out
a workaround, I'm afraid. In any case, this issue also happens with other
tablets, and is a duplicate of bug 363284

Hi Quiralta,

I cannot reproduce this behaviour. Which window manager are you using? Is this
with a tablet or a mouse?

Hi,

When you say mirroring tool do you mean the "M" key to mirror the canvas, or
the horizontal/vertical brush mirror lines? Have you tried to reset your
configuration (uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't do that):
