I'm sorry, but the version included in Kubuntu 16.04 is no longer maintained by
us. This means we cannot properly investigate. It is also possible that the
problem was already fixed.

Please consider upgrading to a newer release, e.g. our LTS release version 5.8.

Changing setNotation to make sure there is always an input handler seems better
to me to work around it (closer to the problem, prevents other setNotation

I could also confirm this.
this issue is more visible if you are using intel graphic card (aka i915
driver)
I found is I switch to slideshow and restart plasmashell. plasmashell will
always using lots of cpu. As time pass, it will using more CPU. In my case, It
will use almost 100% in htop, meaning almost one cpu to do that.
If I switch to static image and restart plasmashell, plasmashell no longer
constant using lots of cpu, drop to 0%.

reproduce.
1. switch to slideshow.
2. add more than one directory with many image, and press OK
3. restart plasmashell.
4. you will see plasmashell eating your cpu as time pass.

Public WiFi usually has "AP Isolation". So it is impossible to broadcast or

Okay. I found KDE Connect uses proxy... until now. It's astonishing.

Another issue is KDE Connect sticks with the old proxy setting, after I changed
proxy setting in System Settings. Until I restart my session

Yes, absolute, reproducible on other network (WiFi) with my laptop.
Investigating...

Another strange thing is, most of the time I click the 'Refresh' or 'Request
Pair' on the control panel, there is no any network flow. The former says

> kdeconnect.core: Broadcasting identity packet

[tellico] [Bug 382035] New: DBUS export filtered entries

2017-07-05 Thread Robby Stephenson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382035

Bug ID: 382035
   Summary: DBUS export filtered entries
   Product: tellico
   Version: 3.0.2
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist

 Component: general
  Assignee: ro...@periapsis.org
  Reporter: ro...@periapsis.org
  Target Milestone: ---

>From https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=200=139755

I would like tellico to have a new Dbus interface function: exporting to an xml
file only the currently filtered entries.
Nowaday, it is possible to have the IDs of the filtered entries, but this is
not very convenient for me.

To give the context: Using tellico in a small school library, I need to do a
pdf report of the book collection, in order to print index cards for the books.
I did a special xslt report file, The outputed html is ok, but its printing on
paper (or pdf) given by tellico is buggy. So I use another tool (wkhtmltopdf)
to export to pdf from the html, and all is nice.
But the process of recording the html file and then using the other tool to
convert html to pdf is a bit complicated for a normal user. So I would like to
automate it in a script, using DBUS. User clic and pdf is ready! I can do this
for the whole collection, but not for only the filtered entries. And sometimes
user do not want to print index cards for the whole collection.

If I could easily access to an xml version of the filtered entries, then
everything would be more simple.

1. Thanks for good work with OS. Install is a dream. Also, first linux system
where I installed steam by only choosing it and did nothing. This is really
good work.
2. The problem: When running Steam, and playing game, Insurgency, the fps
starts good, but after a short time it drops to unplayable. Between 10-15 fps.
The graphics else looks superb. Never seen better on any linux distro i tried.
But this fps problem i would really like to find out of.
3. Unfortunately, i am a totally novise, dont even know how to file a bug
report..So if i can provide you with anything helpful, i think a written
description(like a usermanual) is the only way i can do it. Sorry for that.
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 (rev 1.0xx)
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 975 Black Edition
RAM: 4x4 Kingston KHX 1333 DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 560
Monitor: Benq G2420HD
Power: CoolMaster 650W

and yes, i know it is not far from the 'stone age' area.. but hardware is ok.

Is it a normal local network?

Git commit 28e3b28829e192efd4cf39d460c7fed5f28df7ec by Kevin Funk.
Committed on 05/07/2017 at 22:57.

WelcomePage: Don't load QML in some scenarios

There are a couple of distros which still provide x86 binaries with SSE2
support disabled to support older architectures. Let's not render
KDevelop useless on these platforms, this is easy enough to play along
with.

If one attempts to load QML on a processor without SSE2 support, the Qt
V8 engine by defaults just aborts the program.

Mitigate this by just not loading any QML in case the processor has no
SSE2 support.

Sorry, I should have googled the error message. KDevelop's Welcome Page is the
one eventually requiring SSE2 support in your CPU.

You can disable loading the Welcome Page plugin via:
  KDEV_DISABLE_WELCOMEPAGE=1 kdevelop

Please report back if that works for you.

I've tried to profile kaffeine but it's really hard to tell where is the issue.
It appears as if it goes into some notification loop (quite a lot of time is
spent in mutex lock/unlock -- biggest self time). See attached perf-report.txt

[kdevelop] [Bug 381999] restore support of non-SSE2 CPUs

2017-07-05 Thread Kevin Funk
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=381999

Okay, you got me curious. Indeed the issue can't be Qt5 (which I initially
presumed it is), since on Ubuntu Zesty i386 it is in fact compiled without SSE2
support:

See build log:
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/305749426/buildlog_ubuntu-zesty-i386.qtbase-opensource-src_5.7.1+dfsg-2ubuntu4~1_BUILDING.txt.gz
from
https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-service/+archive/ubuntu/2454-deletedppa/+build/11985181

So feel free to investigate further -- I can imagine Clang/LLVM being the other
possible cause.

Try to check which library KDevelop attempts to loads before crashing, e.g. by
invoking this:
  LD_DEBUG=files kdevelop

A screenshot of the problem.

During registration, a message is sent to the e-mail, a link is given, but the
activation doesn't work. It's supposed to let you specify what Username you
want, but instead there's a drop down list with one item that says "Not
selected". The activation can't continue, since the field is required and a
username can't be specified.

In my case, it occurred like this, using the same text:
- copy/paste from kate to kate -> indicator quit flashing, it took some time
and the text appeared.
- copy/paste from Firefox to Kate -> indicator keep flashing, text never

[kwin] [Bug 382028] New: KWin causes the desktop to be unusable

2017-07-05 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382028

Bug ID: 382028
Summary: KWin causes the desktop to be unusable
   Product: kwin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: gei...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

When I login to Kubuntu (16.04.2 LTS), kde-plasma desktop loads, but then it
will go black with a white line at the bottom (probably the taskbar) and the
desktop becomes unusable, so I must switch to a tty and run `killall kwin_x11`
to make it work.

KDevelop doesn't explicitly require SSE2. Compile it without SSE2 support and
I'm pretty sure it will work. We are not going to do that though, nor will
Ubuntu or any other upstream probably. This is a compiler settings issue and
not realted to our software.

KCrash: crashing... crashRecursionCounter = 2

>And why do you work with a Pentium III, which is a ~15 year old processor?!

Because I have found that PC in ~~~tr~~~stash and want to make it work to put
to my paranoid shelter where I'll be hidden during WW3, LoL :). One tasty
bonus: no Intel ME and other backdoors (except CPU identifier, but it's seems
to be disabled with microcode) embedded :). BTW: Mozilla Firefox works (WebGL
of course doesn't because OpenGL < 2 means no shaders). Screen resolution makes
my eyes hurt from the blur, the picture looks like shit (no DVI interface, only
D-Sub), but these 17 yr old PC runs bleeding edge modern software. It's
amazing!

We are agree with imraro and revan.

Before in plasma vlan support worked perfectly until someone has decided to
remove it.

Me and my company think that's not the right thing. We've installed kde
distributions because we work with networks and plasma has fast support in
creating network profiles and vlan. Even windows has graphical support for vlan
and its is a desktop use! But vlan creation is not as fast as it was in plasma.
I do not understand why to remove a very convenient function that has always
worked. Please reapply it.

Thanks for attention.

Thought I'd also post another detail that might be useful, I'm not sure how
much it relates to the freeze but better be safe than sorry; I have the
following two environment variables added to my ~/.profile file, which
basically tell Mesa to post errors to a log file:

export MESA_DEBUG=1
export MESA_LOG_FILE=/home/mircea/.mesa_stderr

There's one reoccurring line which keeps getting printed in there. It's added
periodically with no side effects, but I imagine it could still have some
relation to the trigger of the freeze:

Mesa: User error: GL_INVALID_OPERATION in glTexSubImage2D(invalid texture

Is there a way for a user to nominate or at least see the links of the sources?

Similar concern for new supernovae.

No, I hadn't.

You already told me about this dependency concerning the kAddressbook problems
I had, and after installing it it also fixed the issues I had with kMail.

I just forgot to close this bug.

However, it's not really obvious to the user that kdepim-addons will provide
such features - maybe it would somehow be possible to point a user to it in
future versions. I.e. in the empty kAddressbook menu entries "Action" etc. add
an empty disabled menuentry "Install Addons for additional features" or
similar... Similar with kMail Message Themes/Styles etc... But that's now a
wishlist item...

[neon] [Bug 382020] New: Feature request to add Opendesktop.org App

2017-07-05 Thread James Cain
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382020

Bug ID: 382020
Summary: Feature request to add Opendesktop.org App
   Product: neon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Packages User Edition
  Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: dequ...@mykolab.com
CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 106447
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=106447=edit
Screenshot of Opendesktop.org Electron App

As the title states, this is a request for KDE Neon to ship an enabled
Opendesktop.org App and change the default settings to point to store.kde.org.
Doing so would easily enlighten KDE Plasma users towards an easy and
user-friendly way to install things like

* Wallpapers
* Icon packs
* Look and Feel Themes
* Plasma Widgets
* etc, etc.

About the app: "Using the App allows you to directly “Install” items by
clicking on the “Install” button of a file, as well as Manage the downloaded
items under “My Collection”.
Starting with wallpapers, it is also now possibly to directly “Apply” a
downloaded item within the App, so it is then set as current background under
most Linux distros and desktop environments."

I believe this is an Electron app, basically wrapping the Opendesktop.org sites
into a launchable application which gives it many advantages over assuming a
user is aware of store.kde.org to begin with, as there is no reference to it in
Neon. This leaves only KGHNS as the featured way, which of course has the
tragic limitation of not allowing a user to install files if they are hosted on
a 3rd party site.

I am aware that this is not a native Plasma application, and can be easily
dismissed for not including in Neon based on this fact alone. However,
exceptions are made for usability-purposes (i.e. Firefox), and to me this would
also fit that bill.

It also has a (somewhat) consistent look to the newer Plasma applications using
the Kirigami framework such as Discover and the upcoming new System Settings
revamp.

This could also fix bug 331162, by allowing Marble users to have direct access
to maps hosted on Opendektop.org.

[kdeplasma-addons] [Bug 382019] New: Reboot, Shutdown buttons doesn't appear again when changing in System Settings

2017-07-05 Thread idmresettrial
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382019

Bug ID: 382019
Summary: Reboot, Shutdown buttons doesn't appear again when
changing in System Settings
   Product: kdeplasma-addons
   Version: 5.10.3
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Application Dashboard
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: idmresettr...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Before the bug:
 - There are 3 buttons: Logout, Reboot, Shutdown in the Application Dashboard
widget.

Steps to reproduce the bug:
 1. Go to System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Desktop sessions
 2. Uncheck the option "Offer shutdown options" -> Result: the Application
Dashboard now has only one button "Logout"
 3. Redo step 1+2, but in step 2 check the option "Offer shutdown options" ->
Result: the Application Dashboard now still has only one button "Logout" ->
bug.

(temporary fix: Change Application Dashboard to Application Menu and change it
again)

Expected behavior:
 - After the step #3 above, the Application Dashboard has 3 buttons: Logout,
Reboot, Shutdown.

I've just updated to latest Qt 5.9.1, Frameworks 5.35, etc from the following
repos on openSUSE 42.2

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Applications/KDE_Frameworks5_openSUSE_Leap_42.2/

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Frameworks5/openSUSE_Leap_42.2/
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Qt5/openSUSE_Leap_42.2

and now plasmashell leaks 5-7 mb every 10 seconds (according to the Memory
column in System Activity). An hour ago I killed an 18Gb plasmashell process,
and within minutes of restarting plasmashell's memory usage is over 800Mb.

[kwin] [Bug 371199] Dragging windows on my left screen causes them to jump down to the bottom

Martin Flöser changed:

   What|Removed |Added

Daniel, thanks for your investigation. Based on that I did quite some
additional investigation. I noticed that it is not trivial to fix. Everything I
tried so far did not solve the problem properly and I think a larger
refactoring of the code is needed. The "root" problem is that struts are
constructed from the edge of the overall screen layout. So the strut of a panel
in between restricts on all screens.

This code was so problematic that the Wayland implementation never got
implemented and only has a TODO. Which explains why I couldn't reproduce this
issue on Wayland. But on the other hand we also need to make it work on
Wayland. Given that a larger refactoring is required. Luckily it's well
contained and given the investigation so far it is possible.

But due to the fact that I think it will require a larger refactoring I doubt
that this can be provided as a bug fix.

[kwin] [Bug 376801] kwin disables compositing with mesa 17

2017-07-05 Thread Paul de Vrieze
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=376801

--- Comment #18 from Paul de Vrieze ---
@martin I am not sure about that configuration, but I believe that it was due
to attempts to use wayland as well. I will try to have a look tomorrow, but it
is one of those gentoo choice things. I hadn't realised that kwin was using es.

Thanks for this fix which has the disadvantage to have a dependency to a
3rdparty tool. I'm going to fix this by using the windows build in copy
command.

Git commit 7c143754d14f29fe1553f82f38df46a46aa97d73 by Andre Heinecke, on
behalf of Justus Winter.
Committed on 05/07/2017 at 14:50.
Pushed by aheinecke into branch 'master'.

Remove comment field from OpenPGP key generation

The comment part of OpenPGP user ids is nowadays seen as a misfeature.
There is no consensus about what kind of information to put there, and
worse, users may not be aware that this information is published as
part of the certificate.

Some more rationale for this can be found under:
https://debian-administration.org/users/dkg/weblog/97
