It seems rather unlikely at this point, which is why I closed it.

I'm changing it to "Verified/Later" since you think it's not completely out of
the question.

I don't think it would be me adding the feature though. I'm afraid my hands-on
experience with machine instructions only went as far as setting VGA mode 13h
in DOS back in 1993 ;-)

Supporting SSE4 or AVX instructions in 32-bit x86 programs is *not* out of the

I'm also running into this bug (for a while already, to be honest). Debian
unstable, KDE Frameworks 5.28.0, Qt 5.7.1.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Launch Font Management (either via System Settings or command line)
2. Select "System Fonts" in the list on the left hand side
3. Click "Add..." button at the bottom, under the list of fonts
4. Select a range of fonts (all TTF fonts in my case)
5. Type in password when asked for autnetication
6. An error dialog shows, "Backend died, but has been restarted. Please try
again."
7. Another authentication dialog shows up immediately, re-enter password
8. Get a "Finished" message: "Please note that any open applications will need
to be restarted in order for any changes to be noticed/"
9. See that only 2 fonts have been installed.

As Alex says, sometimes the message boxes refuse to be dismissed and you have
to manually terminate Font Management with "kill".

If I run it from the command line, I see the following:

$ kcmshell5 fontinst
Service org.kde.fontinst not registered, starting
"/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/kauth/fontinst"
1500785019 Connecting to session bus

Here is a patch that works against latest Plasma master (anyway the code in

dedicated to killing ibus and remove the only place it’s called.

This is another bug caused by the same piece of code:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359109

I’ll recap:

* kcm_keyboard is killing ibus at startup, when editing keyboard configuration,
or when switching back from TTY. «stop ibus so it does not mess with our
layouts»[1] but when is kill user applications a good thing?
* Killing ibus leaves text fields of KDE (not Qt-only or GTK or all other ones)
apps completely unusable even after restarting ibus: I need to relaunch
krunner, konsole, konversation to name a few applications.
* I built myself Plasma to test if there was any problem if removing the code
that kills ibus then editing layouts and such, and there are apparently none.
This code is probably just useless now.

So can you please remove this 20-line nightmare? It would be much better for a
ton of users, and it involves a very minimal, trivial modification.

It is not completely fixed: 100.1 - 100 = 0.094

The problem is that
Math.log(Math.abs(0.094))/Math.log(10)
is less than -1 and so the result with 14 significant digits is rounded to 15
digits :-(

A simple fix could enclose it in Math.max(0,Math.floor(…)) but then:
(100.1-100)*10=0.9
(100.01-100)*100=1.5
etc.
I think, there is no easy solution using Javascript (but I am not a
programmer).

I would suggest to use another method to calculate the result; maybe make the
qalculator default (and add a dependency on its lib) as it seems, that it
handles this cases correct?

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382606

Bug ID: 382606
Summary: when changing a larger file in an archive, Ark asks
for confirmation twice
   Product: ark
   Version: 16.12.3
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: elvis.angelac...@kde.org
  Reporter: da...@kolibac.cz
CC: rthoms...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a file in an archive (tested text files in tar, zip and 7z archives,
the latter with AES256 encryption).
2. Edit the file and save changes.
3. Ark asks, if the archive should be updated.
4. If yes, Ark asks, if the file should be overwritten (I assume by the copy in
/tmp).
5. If the file was larger than ca. 3 kB, steps 3 and 4 repeat.

Expected behavior:
Step 5 (i.e., repetition of steps 3 and 4) shouldn't happen.
(Side note: I also think steps 3 and 4 should be merged.)

I'm running Kubuntu 17.04. (When I was running Kubuntu 16.10 with Ark 16.04,
the application [Ark] also crashed after confirming the dialog.)

[kdenlive] [Bug 382605] New: Exported video has lag or stutter on 4k

2017-07-22 Thread Joel G
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382605

Bug ID: 382605
Summary: Exported video has lag or stutter on 4k
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 17.04.3
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Video Display & Export
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: joel.gi...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

When working with high quality photos for timelapse projects, once the video
has been exported, the output video has a feeling of lag or stutter. As if
several frames had been dropped.

I've been using 5184x3456 JPG images to create timelapses. Ideally I try to use
4k UHD projects but more often than not (maybe 80% of the time) the video
results in a lagged or stutter artifiact mostly at the beginning of the video.
This unwanted playback diminishes at 2k (around 10%), and is not present at
FullHD (1080).

I have not made enough tests to decide if having edits (saturation, sharpen,
curves) have a significant effect on the results above but I believe so. I can
say that FPSs doesn't seem to affect this problem though.

I have ~20 different set of timelapse photos to put together, I've been able to
notice this pattern very consistently. Whenever the 4k attempt has artifacts I
go down to 2k to go around it but it effectively means I'm not able to output
reliable 4k videos.

Not sure how to provide debug logs but will keep an eye on this in case someone
can provide some instructions.

[kwin] [Bug 377914] KWin prevents Application Launcher from opening when using focus stealing prevention

2017-07-22 Thread Nikos Chantziaras
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=377914

With the same maintainer closing another bugs and claiming "it's a feature",
it's kind of difficult to not get mad at that person:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=377913

> We all want a strong community and awesome software.

That's difficult if bugs are presented as "features." We will never have
awesome software.

I did have custom brushes installed. I tried running the 2.9.4.3 and 3.0
versions I had on my harddrive and they worked even with the custom brushes.
After moving the custom brushes (well, the whole krita appdata folders) I
confirmed that the custom brushes/settings were gone in the older versions, but
I'm still getting crashes in 3.2 beta.

(In reply to Alvin Wong from comment #2)
> Also, may I ask what is the last version of Krita that worked normally for
> you? (e.g. 3.2 beta 1 or 3.1.4)

I tested downloading 3.1.4 but it also crashes on startup. The last working
version I had was 3.0, I don't remember any later ones but judging from the
crash logs I started getting these crashes November 16, 2016.

I would instead display "hour+" string when 3600+ seconds are detected, but
this may add more problems with localization (the English "hour+" would almost
fit into mm:ss space). Maybe infinity symbol would work even better (in this
context to be understood as 'beyond game limits'), and normalize the value to
3600 for every such score.

Created attachment 106789

Image of how it looks.

I added a python docker that can quickly switch size, opacity and flow very
much like similar dockers in Sai, CSP and Paintstorm I think has one too.

It is not the prettiest docker, but it is very servicable, I think. And the
benefit of it being python is of course that if people feel strongly about it,
they can choose to disable it as a plugin or change the docker to suit their
needs :)

Anyway, I attached an image with how it looks.

Git commit 62fb1045e9335886ebd3b9df2408740d7ab08b10 by Wolthera van Hövell tot
Westerflier.
Committed on 22/07/2017 at 19:10.
Pushed by woltherav into branch 'master'.

Add a Quick Settings Python Docker.

This docker allows people to select Size, Opacity and Flow from a list of
useful presets, similar to dockers found in other painting programs.
As it is written in Python, people can disable it easily or even modify it to
their tastes, to for example,
to change the list of presets.

[plasmashell] [Bug 382602] New: Video memory leak with desktop configured to slideshow

2017-07-22 Thread Thomas Baag
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382602

Bug ID: 382602
Summary: Video memory leak with desktop configured to slideshow
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.10.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Desktop Containment
  Assignee: se...@kde.org
  Reporter: tho...@b2ag.de
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 106788
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=106788=edit
GTT and VRAM usage shown by GALLIUM_HUD

VRAM and GTT usage steady increases when using desktop in wallpaper slideshow
mode. It doesn't happen directly after starting plasmashell, but I can trigger
it in under 60 seconds.

What I do:
1. Reset my plasma config
mv ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc ~
2. Run plasmashell (in my case with GALLIUM_HUD to see VRAM and GTT info)
GALLIUM_HUD="requested-VRAM,requested-GTT,VRAM-usage,GTT-usage" plasmashell
3. Set desktop to slideshow, configure a folder with tons of images and
keep change interval at 1 second.
(4. Bring up some other plasma surfaces which maybe triggers a race condition.)

What I see:
VRAM usage is increasing with every image up to a point where radeon driver
says "no" with "radeon :23:00.0: va above limit (0x00200407 >=
0x0020)".

My system:
Linux stan 4.11.9-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Jul 5 18:23:08 CEST 2017 x86_64
GNU/Linux

compact any file, extract the just created file to the same folder, file
conflict dialog appears, click "cancel".
Ark shows notification about finished extraction.
I think "canceled" is more appropriate in this situation.

[krita] [Bug 382555] curved lines come out angular and jagged

2017-07-22 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382555

The operating system is macOS Sierra, version 10.12.5. I was using no smoothing
options when I made the reference picture, but after testing, I found that it
happens regardless of smoothing or stabilizing option. The tablet I'm using is
a Wacom Intuos Draw. After disabling open gl, I found that the angular lines
aren't as bad, but they are still there.

Ignoring the issue with the lines(which may be an issue with my equipment), I
think that this is a great program, though. It's a bit confusing with all the
features, but I think it's the best free program I have found so far

via Xvnc
   Product: kde
