https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382852

Believe it solved.
I have installed the packages 'libenchant-dev' and 'sonnet-plugins'.

The message 'no backend...' in the system setting has been replaced by many
languages that are to be selected.

And after restarting kmail it also works the spelling, hooray.
For my it's fixed, thanks.

[korganizer] [Bug 240487] Color settings for overdue todo is not honored

One of my todos just went "due today", and the "due today" color is correctly
applied: The todo would be blue category-wise (and was blue until yesterday),
but is painted in orange now.

I also created a mock todo that is due yesterday, with the same category, and
it is painted in red.

This is 5.5.3. However, I don't think that anything regarding colors was done
in KOrganizer since 5.4.1.

Boian: Is it possible that you hit another issue? Did you take the exact steps
from the original report, creating a completely new todo due in the past? Could
it be related to your config being migrated from KOrganizer 4.x to 5.x?

Hi,

There is no multi-page-PDF scanning application specifically designed for
Plasma/KDE, but there is gscan2pdf that does create multi-page PDFs.

http://gscan2pdf.sourceforge.net/

I think that might be the best option until somebody writes one for
Qt/Plasma/KDE

I installed the debuginfo and tried to run gdb as described. As soon as gdb
starts, the load on kscreenlocker drops to normal. As soon as gdb is closed,
the process load goes to maximum again.

I have two or three different desktop sessions open. Switch between them
normally with ctrl+alt+F(X)

I have tested this multiple times and each time I try to run the gdb, the load
drops.

As soon as I stop gdb, the load shoots up to 100% on a single core.

As one user mentioned, the frustrating part is that it attempts to save a
backup to ~/.local/share/akregator/data//feeds.opml, but even that file is
corrupted. All feeds are lost and replaced with the default feeds. I'm on KDE
Neon user edition.

My data are saved on external HDD, if Tumbleweed-Plasma crashes i do
not feel panic, i send bug report gratefully.

I'm not a software guy, I'm a simple user of GNU/Linux because can
choose is the most important things. I know the great job of KDE
Community and her woobbly windows.

If you consider reporting the crash to AMD (my GPU vendor) help them
to improve KDE then i will do it, for me it is not too important,
everything in life sometimes crash.

Same issue here on the most recent update of KDE Neon user edition. I also

Another issue with the font manager: After disabling a font, the font list is

Using kAddressBook with a DAV-Groupware resource to sync with cardDAV contacts
store in my OwnCloud instance, on my private VPS. Both VPS and kAddressBook
"client" are OpenSuse 42.3, Plasma 5.8.7.

EVERYTHING set to UTF-8, including Apache, MariaDB/MySQL etc., both on VPS and
local KDE client.

Wrong encoding, non-UTF-8, in kaddressbook. E.g. German Umlaut "ü" is shown as
"ü"

No issue when syncing with
- Android Contacts (using DAVdroid)
- iPad Contacts(even with bloody old iOS)
- Thunderbird AddressBook (with Inverse SOGo connector)

[dolphin] [Bug 338492] File icon previews should be turned on for all icon types by default

2017-08-23 Thread Michael
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=338492

(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #10)
> My thought was that since .EXEs contain executable code, parsing them for
> icons contains the risk of executing maliciously-crafted code. But I have no
> idea how the parsing is actually done, or even what it does (I have no
> windows EXEs handy to test). It's trivial to turn that on by default too if
> people find themselves feeling strongly about the matter.

I'm not convinced that a user would even begin to wonder if an .exe was being
executed to find its icon. That kind of thought would only come from a
developer, not a user. But being developers, we can go beyond feelings and test
our assumptions on the matter.

Back when I was a full-time Windows programmer and I had to embed icons into my
.exe's, I told VisualStudio "take this .ico file and embed it into the
resulting .exe in your resource data chunk". It was a post-processing step.

There are other bits of data that can be embedded into an .exe's resource data
chunk, like menus, dialog layouts, images--not just icons.

Microsoft talks about resource files when building .exe's here:

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa380599(v=vs.85).aspx

There's actually a Windows tool that will allow you to inspect, add, remove
resources in .exes so you can see that icons are resource types, and not
related to code.

  http://angusj.com/resourcehacker/

There's a Linux command line tool that works with .exe resources too:

  http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man1/windres.1.html

Another thing to note: KDE running on an ARM CPU like a Raspberry Pi will still
be able to view an x86 .exe's icons even though the CPU architectures are
dissimilar. This is because the ARM doesn't need to execute x86 code to get to
the icon resource. It just opens up the .exe and looks for the resource data
chunk and parses that.

Finally, if you need to have an .exe that has an icon in its resource chunk to
test this, you can download ProcessExplorer here:

  https://download.sysinternals.com/files/ProcessExplorer.zip

2017-08-23 Thread Piotr Mierzwinski

Summary: "Move into source" put definition into commented block
if in cpp file is missing empty new line at end
   Product: kdevelop
   Version: 5.1.1
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Code completion
  Assignee: kdevelop-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: piotr.mierzwin...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

At end of some cpp file (let it be myfoo.cpp) I have commented block (in the
past I commented some old function) without empty new line at end of file.
In header file I have some function with inline definition, so for example
int myFun() { return 5; }
I wanted move it into cpp file, so I put cursor inside curly brackets and
invoked Ctrl+Alt+S - "Move into source". After I was switching to cpp code I
noticed that definition of mentioned function has been put at end of commented
block, so function remained commented.
When I put new line at end of file all

Expected result:
Even if at end of cpp file there is commented block and missing empty end of
line then definition of function should not be put inside commented block only
outside this block. Should be added empty new line and there put definition.

Sorry, but this really isn't a bug. Together with KDE e.V. we're working to get

making these binary builds, and by gum, I wish someone else would spend their

Or do you rotate the image in the image editor?

[krita] [Bug 383928] New: Windows downloadable installer EXEs are signed only by insecure SHA1 digest algorithm

2017-08-23 Thread Edmond Lacey
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383928

Bug ID: 383928
Summary: Windows downloadable installer EXEs are signed only by
insecure SHA1 digest algorithm
   Product: krita
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: sibexo...@go2vpn.net
  Target Milestone: ---

Files available from:
https://krita.org/en/download/krita-desktop/

and named:
krita-3.2.0-x86-setup.exe
krita-3.2.0-x64-setup.exe

are signed only with the SHA1 certificate belonging to Open Source Developer,
Boudewijn Rempt.

Wikipedia claims that since 2010 "many organizations have recommended its
replacement by SHA-2 or SHA-3" [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHA-1]

Most importantly, in February 2017 Google announced "the first practical
technique for generating a collision" against SHA-1
[https://security.googleblog.com/2017/02/announcing-first-sha1-collision.html]

It's tough enough that krita.exe has no digital signature to depend upon.

Well, personal attacks don't make it any more likely to get a bug fixed, that's
for sure. If you know how a handful of developers can spend the time on Kontact
development with its hundreds of thousands of lines of code and thousands of
bugs more efficiently, or how we might be able to finally recruit new
developers willing to spend their free time on Kontact, or if you're willing to
pay a developer to fix bugs, please let us know. Of course, you're still very
welcome to contribute patches yourself (you might already have the social
skills needed to be a developer after all) or to start reporting bugs again,
but less welcome to make it even less attractive to be a KDE developer by
complaining about them.

Regards

Maybe you can enable the DB updating after a re-reading only for selected
images.
And maybe add an extra warning message before wiping out the DB info, leaving
the responsibility and the freedom in the hands of the user. Don't try to be
too smart and let me think for myself...
Thanks.
