Please note that osx never had a maximize button. Given that I don't think that
we can derive anything from the fact that osx has a fullscreen button.

>From the deco perspective I think a fullscreen button would be very bad as it
is a non reversible Action. The button hides when you click it. From user
experience this is terrible. Given that I'm against it.

I second that. I found that in System Settings > Desktop Behavior > Touch

doesn't fix the problem.

Believe it or not, somebody else has already reported the same problem, and it
looks like a KWin issue. You can close the upstream Mozilla bug report.

If you can use the Plasma Wayland session, it's not a problem there. Folks are
still looking for a workaround on X11.

[konsole] [Bug 384445] "Draw intense colours in bold" is checked but coloured fonts are not rendering in bold

2017-09-06 Thread Aayush Agarwal
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384445

--- Comment #3 from Aayush Agarwal  ---
I have checked that file and it contained this:

[Appearance]
AntiAliasFonts=true
BoldIntense=true
ColorScheme=Linux
Font=Source Code Pro,9,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0,Regular
UseFontLineChararacters=true

[General]
Environment=TERM=xterm-color,COLORTERM=truecolor
Name=Profile 1
Parent=FALLBACK/

Neither removing the entire line nor removing just "regular" over there fixed
things for me.

Also I took a look at bug 378523, and fired up Kate to check if it was an issue
limited to konsole.

Apparently I'm also having this problem in Kate. I'm interested in editing the
kdeglobals file but I'm not sure which lines I'll have to remove. grep'ing for
fonts gave me these two lines.

$ cat .config/kdeglobals | grep font
update_info=fonts_global.upd:Fonts_Global
font=Noto Sans,10,-1,5,50,0,0,0,0,0,Regular

This installed almost all the required packages, but missed
libkf5declarative-dev. After manually installing libkf5declarative-dev, I could

[kate] [Bug 378579] kate (and kwrite) on large files: version 3.7 is fine, version 15 sucks

2017-09-06 Thread Rick Graves

--- Comment #13 from Rick Graves  ---
Some thoughts:

1) Package maintainers are volunteers and guys like me appreciate their
efforts.

2) kubuntu is not kde, but kde needs distributions.

3) Ideally, kde could encourage package maintainers to test using systems that
approximate the minimum hardware recommended by some popular distributions. If
package maintainers only test using much more powerful hardware, they can
remain oblivious to, and in denial of, the problems encountered by some rank
and file users.

prepared folder (for example /home//Desktop/ it can

Upstream SDDM needs to get support before we (in KDE) can add an option for it.

I'm pretty sure there's already an open issue on that there.

[systemsettings] [Bug 384451] New: systemsettings should understand yet-to-be-generated locales

2017-09-06 Thread Gaëtan Gilbert
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384451

Bug ID: 384451
   Summary: systemsettings should understand yet-to-be-generated
locales
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.8.7
  Platform: Debian testing
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_formats
  Assignee: se...@kde.org
  Reporter: gaetan.gilb...@skyskimmer.net
  Target Milestone: ---

In system settings > regional settings > formats, it is possible to set any
locale even if it isn't present on the system. This can appear to work while
leading to random incomprehensible breakage (eg set LC_TIME to whatever,
reboot, see that the KDE clock respects it. However if the locale isn't
generated okular will fail to open files with non totally ASCII path like
é.pdf, mcomix will just crash on startup, etc)

The program should somehow remind the user to generate locales. Possibilities:
- display only generated locales (maybe with a toggle to display the rest as
well)
- display some warning when a non generated locale is chosen
- whatever you come up with

Would you please add kstars version to the report and also verify that the
Platform you are using is "Other Linux". If you have updated kstars, since
reporting this bug, would you also please confirm that you are still
experiencing it.

I have tried unsuccessfully to reproduce on version 2.8.3. so I would like to
check that I understand what you experience. I am understanding that you are
using Ekos:CCD:Preview to capture images; and that the associated fitsviewer
histogram is not updated to describe each newly-loaded image. Is this correct?

2017-09-06 Thread Matthias
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=381387

--- Comment #1 from Matthias  ---
Happens here as well. And yes, i had this issue back then also.
HP 8570p

1) I reduce the display brightness of my laptop to the lowest level.
2) I close the lid, which disables the display due to my settings.
3) I open the lid, which enables the display again.
4) My eyes are burning, since the brightness is strongly increased.

When i like to reduce the brightness then, is this not possible since plasma
think, that this is already the case.

Once i try to increase the brightness then, decrease it that the the 2nd lowest
level.

So, the actual setting and what plasma think about the actual setting, splits
once i disable the display.

[frameworks-ktexteditor] [Bug 384449] New: New documents (without storage url) have mimetype guessed without respecting selected mode/highlighting

2017-09-06 Thread Friedrich W . H . Kossebau
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384449

Bug ID: 384449
   Summary: New documents (without storage url) have mimetype
guessed without respecting selected mode/highlighting
   Product: frameworks-ktexteditor
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kosse...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

When creating a new text document in Kate (or KDevelop), estimation of the
mimetype of the document in KTextEditor::DocumentPrivate::mimeType() is only
done based on content, which in many cases will fail due to missing
intelligence by the mime database (e.g. Markdown content).
The user though has the chance to manually select a filetype mode (from
Tools/Mode menu) in case the detection fails (and I surely are not the only one
to do that). And usually they select a matching mode.
So in the case that there is only one mimetype covered by a filetype mode, it
would be helpful to have the mimetype of the document being overruled by the
filetype mode setting. And in other cases some further control by the user of
the mimetype is needed.

[frameworks-ktexteditor] [Bug 384448] New: No KTextEditor::Document::mimeTypeChanged signal available

2017-09-06 Thread Friedrich W . H . Kossebau

 Component: general
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kosse...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

The mimetype property of a KTextEditor::Document object is not fixed for its
lifetime, at least in the implementation of KTextEditor::DocumentPrivate.

In that code it is depending on the outcome of the queries to QMimeDatabase,
which itself depends on the current initial 4k bytes and/or the path of the url
which is set to the document. So the mimetype can be different over the
lifetime of the document instance (e.g. when saving under another filename or
when editing a new file and switching between Markdown and Asciidoc during
initial work).

Watchers of a document instance, like the preview plugin, could be happy to be
informed about changes of the mimetype, so they can adapt to it.

Some users (according to Apple the majority of users, apparently, given that
they made it the default) want to regularly show applications as fullscreen.
Some may even use fullscreen instead of maximize.
KWin currently has a keyboard shortcut for that, but no button for the title
bar.
Having that as a titlebar button would allow users or distributions to add that
button or even replace the maximize button with it.

[plasmashell] [Bug 384446] New: Cursor artifacts

2017-09-06 Thread Dmitry Vakhnin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384446

Bug ID: 384446
   Summary: Cursor artifacts
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: jsbm...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

After every boot I have artifacts near mouse till the relogining to session.
This is the square that appears when something in the background of mouse has
changed.
Example: you have mouse hovered over some elements, you change content of
window of just change window by hot keys and then you have old mouse's
"background".
Tried this with nvidia drivers: 375, 381, 384. Nothing helped.

[kwin] [Bug 384440] Switching between windows from the same application only works once

2017-09-06 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384440

--- Comment #6 from grouchomarx...@gmail.com ---
Sorry, I should have been more specific : it breaks when I want to go through
the list, it is stuck to the second window.

Also I want to correct my previous statement : I can actually reassign it to
super+v. It turns out I had to restart the session (otherwise, super+v launches
the app switcher, then I have to hit alt+` to go through the app list).

I am still a bit confused about how it works.
I guess I am expecting the entire desktop to use the layout that I selected,
but it seems to switch between layouts (launching the app switcher is using one
layout, going through the list is using another ?).
