[plasmashell] [Bug 384649] New: still missing most style functionality of old KDE desktops
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384649 Bug ID: 384649 Summary: still missing most style functionality of old KDE desktops Product: plasmashell Version: master Platform: Slackware Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: Desktop Containment Assignee: se...@kde.org Reporter: dchme...@gmail.com CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 KDE3 had best style ever (from what I know... didn't use KDE2 or earlier, but others said the older, the better,) with more desktop options. Colour could be monochrome or gradient. On top of it, full-desktop/-screen images could be single or slideshow. I request all that (and anything else people liked) be returned. Colour/gradient was returned to KDE4, but not optional slideshow in place of main image (full-desktop/-screen, 'centred maxpect,' etc.,) only tiny mini-slideshow in a desktop section, making it overall unaesthetic/messy. So of course, I didn't use KDE4 slideshow. Now, I prefer a blank gradient (was forced to make my own, tolerable for now,) maybe wouldn't add image/slideshow on top, but it'd be nice to have back KDE3 (not KDE4) way. So, I don't consider all this urgent, it'd just be nice to see again in the future, otherwise switch to any earlier/KDE3 update/fork available for my OSes, that can do all that, if they fix earlier bugs and can run dolphin. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384648 Bug ID: 384648 Summary: my PC always grinds to a halt from indexing... shouldn't it be opt-in? Product: frameworks-baloo Version: 5.36.0 Platform: Slackware Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: pinak.ah...@gmail.com Reporter: dchme...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- This is really a bug for KDE4 and P5. Since some version of KDE4, when I start with KDE, the indexer always grinds my PC to a halt within minutes, because I have many files. I had finally managed to disable it in KDE4, kept my .kde, installed P5 to test, but then it had re-enabled indexing! I had to restart several times until seeing I had to disable it. Can't indexing (and many other things) be opt-in? Maybe the first time you start KDE, you could choose from several options, like what you're using the computer for (some probably won't need indexing,) and/or more detailed options like whether you want indexing? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I was surprised, you took my suggestion. The reason was at the time I put launchers on panel, often KATE or KWrite next to system tray, and I'd get confused which was text edit or clipboard. Sometimes when KDE4 and P5 load a certain way, I still see the old clipboard icon. In theory someone could be in that confusing situation, but personally, I've had more stuff in my system tray for years, so I don't have that situation anymore. Maybe the change was still good, or maybe people should have an option? I'd guess the majority of people would think of a clipboard before scissors, since you don't always 'cut & paste,' also 'copy & paste'... even I do, and of course, when you cut paper, you might put it on a clipboard. Currently, I'd be okay with either icon, but I thought, maybe you took my suggestion too far, if most people would at least want a choice (and most don't have the problem I had?) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[okular] [Bug 382139] Sidebar button text unreadable on hover
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382139 --- Comment #2 from Nate Graham--- It appears that Okular is using the wrong color from the active color theme here. It is using Selection Text for tab items that you are hovering over, when it should be using View Text (which is what most programs use for items that you are hovering over). The problem is only noticeable with the Breeze color scheme, since it is a light theme that uses a light color for Selection Text; most light themes use a dark color for this, and most dark themes have a dark background to contrast against a light color here. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[bugs.kde.org] [Bug 383753] Consider changing some resolution statuses in bugs.kde.org to avoid making some people feel bad
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383753 --- Comment #6 from Christoph Feck--- > you fix bugs, not features. If a feature is added, the ticket is resolved as FIXED, so it is symmetrical to marking a denied feature with WONTFIX. You could demand a new resolution for features, such as IMPLEMENTED, ADDED, or whatever, but any missing feature is someone else's bug. > NOTABUG or CANTREPRODUCE > Yeah, but what resolution belongs to that? We also have WORKSFORME. Any type of closing a bug without a fix looks judgmental to the reporter, because he _has_ the issue, otherwise he would not have reported it. I keep most tickets open in the hope that with more eyes we find someone who understands the issue and can suggest a fix or a workaround, or can explain what the reporter did wrong. > Here's a bug that I close as invalid: > > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384202 Looks okey. I also use NEEDSINFO+WAITINGFORINFO, if I am able to instruct the reporter what information developers could need to understand or further investigate the issue. If I do not get any reply after some 2+2 weeks, I give up and also set RESOLVED+INVALID, see e.g. bug 380361. I have been chasing bugzilla since nearly 9 years, and the only thing that I would change is merging "UNCONFIRMED" and "CONFIRMED" to a single state "OPEN". The distiction has cost us many man hours explaining that there is no difference to most developers. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=305915 Nate Grahamchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||pointedst...@zoho.com --- Comment #16 from Nate Graham --- For what it's worth, too have yet to encounter a PDF with forms that I could actually fill out with Okular. :( We might want to mark the feature in the UI as experimental or "use at your own risk" or something. I have to agree with Uwe that it may be better to disable or at least warn about a half-working feature than let people try it, get frustrated with bugs that make it very broken. They often get angry and want to flame the developers, which is very depressing and saps people's motivation to actually fix the issues. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Akonadi] [Bug 383263] akonadiconsole unusable on resolutions under 1366x786.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383263 --- Comment #4 from uli--- I wrote before the scroll bars are visible in the tabs. That is not the problem. The problem is that the edit/OK/save etc whatever buttons are on this window are NOT visible on the screen. The screenshot shows what I see on any of my two laptops. Can you see how I can change ore edit anything in the tabs when the buttons below the window with the tabs are not reachable? I can select something in the window with the tabs and then? Nothing - no further buttons since it is impossible to make the window smaller. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Akonadi] [Bug 383263] akonadiconsole unusable on resolutions under 1366x786.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383263 --- Comment #3 from Christoph Feck--- The window has multiple tabs. If all of them had a scroll bar, then the window would never get larger than the screen. In other words, please switch to the other tab pages, and check them. At least one of the tabs lacks a scroll bar. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
