https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382731 --- Comment #6 from Uri Herrera--- (In reply to Christoph Feck from comment #5) > I am not sure how aurorae looks up theme keys, but for Plastik, you need to > put > > theme=kwin4_decoration_qml_plastik > > Maybe that helps you find which entry from the theme metadata you need to > use as the key. That would be X-KDE-PluginInfo-Name=$NAME though I also tried it that way without any change. I also noticed that Kwin was giving some errors because it wasn't finding some files: kwin-decoration.desktop kwin-effect.desktop kwin-script.desktop They seem to have been renamed to: kwindecoration.desktop kwineffect.desktop kwinscript.desktop I simply used a symlink. No errors now. The only hint I have is that when I change the theme from Breeze to an Aurorae theme Kwin outputs: aurorae: Couldn't find QML Decoration "" (https://github.com/KDE/kwin/blob/master/plugins/kdecorations/aurorae/src/aurorae.cpp#L174) But I'm not sure what error is about. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Interesting that if I apply filter directly to the image than there is no dim. [plasmashell] [Bug 383125] single window mode is not respected across virtual desktops
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383125 --- Comment #6 from avlas--- I think it's something that is not exclusively dependent of Kate, as it behaves differently if called from the same virtual desktop it is already open (kate opens a tab), or from a different one (kate opens a new window; note that I refer to Kate because you referred to it, but this is the case also for browsers). So this may depend on the application and kwin or plasmashell in some sort of way... to at least make kate know about a same vs a diff virtual desktop. What I proposed as the ideal way to tackle this, would be to adjust behavior in concordance with plasma's taskbar configuration. In the taskbar one can configure which applications are visible, whether all of them, or whether those of the same activity/desktop or screen. It would be great to have kate and browsers to open additional windows in sync with the taskbar configuration. I hope I was a bit clearer this time... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

It's almost impossible to work on KDevelop code using a build from the 5.2 branch, at least if you want to be able to rely on the parser (and not distracted by it). The issue seems worse when the project is imported using cmake server mode but I can't quantify how. > - spurious warnings from the new cmake server feature. [plasmashell] [Bug 380008] System randomly freezes or crashes to the login screen, glitches until rebooted
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=380008 --- Comment #21 from Mircea Kitsune--- (In reply to Christoph Feck from comment #20) Thanks for the suggestion. I will give it a try, granted it doesn't require messing with system components in a dangerous manner. What environment variables for Mesa should I be modifying? Currently I'm still in the process of further narrowing down the cause; I know the crash only occurs when alt-tab switching between windows, possibly also when the plasma panel pops up... so in some form Plasma must be the trigger. Some other action a few hours prior to the crash is also required, apparently toggling desktop effects or inserting an external drive... I don't know to what extent Plasma does that. The core issue does appear to be in Mesa, or something in the drivers if not. But in case a KDE component is setting some weird shader that causes it to freak out, that's one chain in the link that can be cut. Knowing would also make it easier to reproduce the issue so that it can be fixed where the fault lies. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=380008 --- Comment #20 from Christoph Feck--- Thanks for the investigation. I fear there is nothing Plasma developers can do to prevent this issue. QtQuick uses OpenGL extensively by default. You could try running Plasma with forced software rendering in Mesa or in QtQuick. This way you can be sure the bug is caused by the OpenGL driver. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384732 Ivo Raisrchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||iv...@ivosh.net --- Comment #8 from Ivo Raisr --- Solaris port had to support "proper" vfork semantics right from the beginning because Solaris libc relies on its proper functioning. So there are some clever workarounds how to "preserve" vfork semantics but translate it to fork() at the same time. Have a look at coregrind/m_syswrap/syswrap-solaris.c and coregrind/vg_preloaded.c, search there for "vfork". Apart from other stuff which goes on there, a pipe is created to communicate error code from child to parent. This in fact emulates shared address space. If I understand it correctly, pipe was used previously for the very same reason in glibc <= 2.24. [kdenlive] [Bug 384764] Proxy clips on time line play slower than original clips
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384764 --- Comment #6 from mikko.rap...@iki.fi --- Playing with the test project. By only changing project profile from 1080p25 to 720p25 the proxy clip playback on timeline changes from roughly 7fps to 15 fps. Would be nice to have an fps counter on the preview screen btw. That is to me odd. There should not be reasons for the preview rendering pipeline to change when project profile is changed, especially when rendering proxy clips. For the final render yes, but not for time line preview. Feels like that during proxy clip playback, the frames are first rendered from 640x360 to project resolution 1080p or 720p, and then scaled to the monitor preview window size. To me this intermediate step is not necessary. The preview rendering should happen from 640x360 directly to the monitor preview window size for each frame. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

For example, a recursive KDirWatch::addDir() on the GCC source tree will take around 85 seconds on a 2.7Ghz i7 (with a fast HDD) while the KDirWatch dtor will take roughly twice that time. Linux timings on a much slower CPU are a fraction of that and negligible in probably most contexts where you'd want to create such a dirwatcher. I think this qualifies as the kind of lengthy operation for which Qt suggests to call QCoreApplication::processEvents() periodically. That would make it less invasive to call on the main thread, as applications (developed on Linux) might be wont to do. The logical place for doing such a check would be in KDirWatchPrivate::addEntry(), just before the loop where it calls itself recursively. That can however cause a race condition: how to handle the situation where a user action leads to the destruction of the KDirWatch object itself (e.g. the user quits the application during the lengthy dirwatcher creation). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384764 --- Comment #5 from mikko.rap...@iki.fi --- One thing that I have changed lately is the project profile from 720p30 to 1080p25. That seems to have a major effect on playback performance even when proxy clips are 640x360p50. Hmm why are they p50? Shouldn't be needed really... I was able to go back to 17.04.3-1 version but could not see any improvement there. 16.12.3-1 binaries from snapshot.debian.org no longer work on Debian unstable due to Qt dependencies. What could work for me is to use really low project profile 640x360p15 even, but in the past changing profile was a destructive operation which screwed timeline completely when going back to 1080p25 for final rendering. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kdenlive] [Bug 384764] Proxy clips on time line play slower than original clips
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384764 --- Comment #3 from mikko.rap...@iki.fi --- (In reply to Jean-Baptiste Mardelle from comment #2) > Can you paste the proxy profile you were using ? The only change I can think > of affecting proxies is a change in the size parameter allowing to make sure > the proxy height is a multiple of 2. Also doing: > ffmpeg -i myproxy.mp4 > > on one of your proxies might give some clues. It is just kdenlive. Playback on timeline is 10 times slower than in clip preview. I switched to a bit beefier 64bit Core2 Duo machine with 8 gigs of RAM but it is not helping. I get maybe 5fps when previewing the 640x360 proxy clip on timeline. In clip preview it plays better but nowhere as good as with mplayer or melt from command line where I can not see any frame drops or complains. I created a test project archive and uploaded to: https://mcfrisk.kapsi.fi/temp/proxy_test01.tar.gz Older versions of kdenlive were ok to use with this kind usage. Time line playback went slow only after multiple effect were applied to the clips, which I often did as the last step, also because they quite often crashed kdenlive and corrupted the timeline. I did go through a large set of clips and split and set in/out points to them and now can't easily switch to an older kdenlive version. The project files should really be more backwards and forwards compatible! I should start archiving the full kdenlive debian packages with each of my edits... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

(I'm not sure if any of this is Gentoo specific, but I have confirmed the basic problem looking at the git source.) Oxygen installs six folders under /usr/share/icons (KDE_Classic, Oxygen_Black, _Blue, _White, _Yellow, and _Zion). Under each of those is a cursors folder. In each of them col-resize is a symlink to split_v and row-resize is a symlink to split_h. These links are backwards: col-resize should point to split_h (resizing a column is adjusting a split horizontally - that is side to side adjustment of a vertical split, thus perhaps the confusion) and row-resize should point to split_v. If you look in /usr/share/icons/breeze_cursors (part of the Gentoo kde-plasma/breeze package) split_h points to col-resize and split_v points to row-resize, which is the correct matching. (I don't think it matters which is the symlink and which is the real file, just that they are paired correctly.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
