[kwin] [Bug 386936] New: Native wayland applications scaling

2017-11-14 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386936

Bug ID: 386936
   Summary: Native wayland applications scaling
   Product: kwin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kiv.ap...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

KDE 5.11 has good support for scaling applications when using display
configurations with different DPI. The application can be scaled up or down and
it's very cool.

However, there is one important flaw. As I understand it, Wayland lets you tell
native applications about changing DPI while dragging between monitors. Anyway
it works in Gnome. If I drag, for example, gedit (an application that does not
use xwayland), it does not scale the bitmap, but changes its real DPI when most
of it reaches another monitor. This is a much better behavior, because it does
not lose image quality and do not consume unnecessary computing resources for
scaling.

It would be nice to add support for this protocol to kwin, since this would be
a very important step to support High DPI, no less important than what has
already been done. After all, raster scaling significantly degrades the quality
and should be avoided if there is a possibility to change DPI on the fly by
simply asking the application about it.

Of course, for xwayland applications, it only remains to apply the current
approach with raster scaling. This is quite good (and, as far as I know, at the
moment on Linux only KDE can do it).

I do not understand what you mean by certified cash. As this bug report is not
understandable I'm marking it as invalid. If you have more details please add

Yes, it will be in the next binary release or snapshot. Portable snapshots are
available at
https://software.opensuse.org/package/mingw64-kmymoney-portable?search_term=mingw64-kmymoney-portable.
I triggered a rebuild update, which should be available soon - look for version
4.8.c829ec79.

In an installed kmymoney it could be changed with:

1. Start KMyMoney
2. In "online price entry" tab of settings dialog change "Yahoo Currency" to:

url: https://fx-rate.net/%1/%2
price: 1\s[^=]+\s=\s([^\s]+)

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386933

Bug ID: 386933
Summary: Incorrect name for pc file an library in it
   Product: frameworks-kactivities-stats
   Version: 5.40.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: ivan.cu...@kde.org
  Reporter: re...@rezso.net
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

The package contains an libKActivitiesStats.pc.cmake, which defines an
non-existant -lKActivitiesStats lib, and the pc file is installed as
libKActivitiesStats.pc. The correct names are libKF5ActivitiesStats.pc, and
-lKF5ActivitiesStats.
If the pc file is needed, please fix this.

UPDATE #1: Just tested playback of the same files in Kdenlive 17.04.3 (the last
stable release on Mint 18.2 via ppa), and there was no pitch issue -- it played
as expected, though still a little choppy (which is surprising considering the
processing power in my editing bay PC's).

Bug ID: 386932
Summary: Audio playback is different pitch & not smooth.
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 17.08.3
  Platform: Appimage

https://www.dropbox.com/s/oitdijpozgwk6c8/Benji%20Jackson%20-%20Good%20Time%20Rock%20and%20Roll.wav?dl=0

BEHAVIOR
I'd imported an audio file in both .wav and .ogg file formats to use as
background music. Playback in Clip Monitor does not play back clip in real time
and the pitch of the audio clip is higher than if you would play it via a media
player outside of Kdenlive. Also seems like the clip is playing back a little
faster than normal speed, on both files. This is also reflected when clips are
added to Timeline.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
That the audio file would play smoothly, in real-time playback and with correct
pitch & speed, both in Clip Monitor/Project Monitor playback, as well as
rendering and final rendered media.

AccountsSevice is responsible for saving the icons in /var/AccountsService, not
UserManager. And SDDM is the consumer of those icons. Since neither of those
products are tracked in the KDE bugzilla, this will have to be fixed somewhere
else. There is an old open patch to make SDDM more AccountsService-aware:
https://github.com/sddm/sddm/pull/525/files

Might be worth it to push on that a bit.

I open any page in QtDocumentaion and after click in any link present in such
page I go nowhere.

Example:
Qt Core -> Cpp classes -> QByteArray
Clicking on "append" do nothing.

There are similar bugs reported for konqueror, but I don't know if they are
related.
Tested on version 5.2 (AppImage package).

But why? All programs I know have by default draggable toolbars.

I can unlock the toolbars here. So to fix this issue I propose to mack
unlocking the default.

[plasmashell] [Bug 385043] Ark : after extraction, clicking on the notification button re-opens the archive instead of target directory

2017-11-14 Thread Mahendra Tallur
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385043

I'm clueless as I haven't looked at code for more than 10 years but... Why
would the notification be started before the operation is complete ? You mean
it's initiated before it's actually shown ? In the case of Ark, it definitely
appears after the extraction is complete.

Also the destination folder is known as soon as the user starts the operation
as he decides where to move / extract files :-)

Sorry if that's a clueless dumb user remark ! Thanks for the kind replies.

[plasmashell] [Bug 386928] New: Operation complete / file transfer notification : incorrect open button behavior

2017-11-14 Thread Mahendra Tallur
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386928

Bug ID: 386928
Summary: Operation complete / file transfer notification :
incorrect open button behavior
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.11.3
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Notifications
  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Reporter: ma...@free.fr
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Hi !

After completing some tasks, such as : moving several files in Dolphin, or
extracting an archive in Ark, a notification appears at the bottom right of the
screen.

It obviously states the operation is complete. It also has an "Open" button
that is supposed to open the target directory of the operation.

However, it doesn't. It does something else. For instance :

- when moving several files, the "Open" button doesn't open the target
directory but one of the files of the list

- when extracting an archive, the "Open" button doesn't open the target
directory, but re-opens the archive (so Ark is started twice with the same
content).

I filed a bug against Ark but realized that was not an Ark issue as it also
occurs with other files operations related notifications.

Cheers !

ArkViewer: close on Escape
FIXED-IN: 17.11.80

Test Plan:
Open preview for a text file, then check whether Esc closes the window.
If some operation is happening in the kate part (e.g. text selected, or search
bar open),
make sure Esc aborts the operation rather than closing the window.

Brush is registered as a straight line for approx. 300ms from the start of the
stroke. This is true of both mouse and stylus, and of every single stroke.
I have flagged this as a major bug since this renders me effectively completely
unable to draw anything. The only way to fix it seems to be to wait out the lag
period, then trace.

I should mention this doesn't happen in Photoshop CS6 on the same machine, and
that I have allocated 100% RAM to Krita and set it to run realtime. These are
the only settings I have modified from the defaults. Krita is also running from
an SSD with a comfortable 32G of empty memory.

Re-assigning to Plasma notifications. That button and notification is provided
by it. Improving that isn't trivial, though, as by the time the notification
fires, often the Destination hasn't been updated, so it ends up pointing at the

Indeed, I get a similar notification after moving a list of files. Clicking on
the notification "Open" button is supposed to open the target dir of the
operation ; instead it tries to open one of the moved files. Which obviously
makes no sense when a list of files is concerned, why would I want to open a

I tried running clinfo under heaptrack, and noticed that it stalls forever.

A backtrace on a stalled case gives:

#0 0x7faa3bbf76c0 in __read_nocancel () at
../sysdeps/unix/syscall-template.S:84
#1  0x7faa3c4855b7 in std::__basic_file::xsgetn(char*, long) () from

With some experimenting, it seems that this happens if (and only if?) the Mesa
OpenCL ICD is available. Possible steps to reproduce, on Debian unstable:

* apt-get install ocl-icd-libopencl1 mesa-opencl-icd clinfo
* run heaptrack clinfo

This can be done also in a virtual machine, since it's not necessary for the
Mesa OpenCL ICD to actually expose any OpenCL devices (on my machine it has 0
devices, for example).

[kdevelop] [Bug 386920] New: Fold all nodes

2017-11-14 Thread Silviu
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386920

Bug ID: 386920
   Summary: Fold all nodes
   Product: kdevelop
   Version: 5.2.0
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: general
  Assignee: kdevelop-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: laurentiusil...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

This is not a bug, it is a request.
I think it will be very useful if there will be the possibility to fold all
nodes, not only the current or the top level nodes.
Thanks a lot!

kdenlive with system monitor

Hi, I don't know exactly since when (17.0.2 ??) but now kdenlive is unuseable.
Remove old config file, cache. Do a fresh start -> high cpu usage with nothing
loaded !
On a core 2 due cpu is around 65% (opensuse Leap)
On a athlon 860k, one core at 100%, total cpu usage around 30% (opensuse
Tumbeweed).

Screenshot and strace ouput attached !

[KScreen] [Bug 386900] KScreen picks wrong resolution in QEMU on wayland

Fabian Vogt changed:

Looks like this is a bug in QEMU, some kind of allocation failure. Probably
some kind of internal buffer is too small... Anyway, this shouldn't be
triggered at all automaticaly.

I can easily explain the difference to X now: It seems like libkscreen does not
handle the preferred attribute on kwayland modes yet, so it always picks the
one with the biggest area (+ refresh rate).

I suggest adding the current mode as preferred mode on startup - this should be
the native resolution (or at least a mode that works) in most cases anyway and
can easily be overwritten on the kernel cmdline.

[krusader] [Bug 372964] At least one Oxygen icon in Krusader is not correctly seen (using Kubuntu 16.04)

2017-11-14 Thread Toni Asensi Esteve
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372964

--- Comment #9 from Toni Asensi Esteve ---
Thank you for your comments, Alex!

> If this bug is about Krusader using icons only included in Breeze, this is
> what 372966 is about.

> If there are icon-names is Oxygen which are somehow not used by Krusader it
> would be different though.

After all that has been discussed, it seems that there are those problems:
- Oxygen not having all the icons that Breeze has and Krusader uses (like
"edit-select-none");
- Oxygen having a "edit-select" icon that shows only a generic image of a
mouse arrow, unlike its Breeze equivalent, which shows a mouse arrow and a
distinctive little circle.

And maybe Krusader is doing a good job by not mixing Oxygen and Breeze icons.
So this bug report would not be a 372966 duplicate, but a bug about the Oxygen
icons and Krusader.

Additionally somebody else could think that it would be better that Krusader
would include Breeze icons as fallback in the Krusader package (though it would
look ugly with other themes), then somebody could write here his opinion.
