If you're not that good with compiling, you probably should not be using Arch
Linux. Arch Linux is a distribution for people who know what they're doing or
are eager to learn. You can try to report this issue to Arch, and someone from
that community might be able to help you, but it's a distribution issue.

Oh yes, the new xdg_shell works. I can run libreoffice and Virt-Manager
including keyboard input in a VM on Wayland, awesome!!! :-)

Back to the topic, unfortunately kmail is still the application triggering the
flickering in a maximized window, if another application is on top, most
obvious when scrolling in another application like in Kate in the Files menu.

Thanks. But I see this in the article:
> Arch
> Arch currently doesn't offer debug packages with symbols (Feature Request).
> You therefore need to recompile all concerned packages with debugging
> symbols. See their informative document Getting Traces.

So, I would need to recompile from source with debugging symbols.
Unfortunately, I am not that good with compiling.

@Boudewijn Rempt
I am sure that you take care of this. But it was working with the previous
version. I just updated and I noticed this issue.

[krita] [Bug 387381] New: Screen does not respond unless I exit the current drawing.

2017-11-27 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387381

Bug ID: 387381
Summary: Screen does not respond unless I exit the current
drawing.
   Product: krita
   Version: 3.3.2
  Platform: Other
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Usability
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: archta...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Recently, whenever I try to zoom or draw on the canvas, the window itself does
not show any such changes (it does not zoom or show the markings I make), even
though it shows the zoom factor in the upper left (Zoom: 200% for example). If
I switch drawings within the application, or maximize another window, and then
switch back to the drawing, it shows the changes I've made, but that's it.

I updated to the most recent version a few days ago, so I don't think it's a
matter of updating.

Some info the app tells me to add when reporting a bug (please tell me if I
should have put this somewhere else).

First of all, MD5 is not a signature (nor really recommended as a cryptographic
checksum).

Then I see nothing on https://www.digikam.org/download/ that looks like a
signature or hash, I had to dig a few levels deep into download.kde.org to find
hashes.

Found it. You need to hit the space bar on the last image. The arrow keys don't
activate wrap. That's another issue:

  Platform: Neon Packages

Status: UNCONFIRMED

If you have a sequence of images and you get to the last one, you can invoke
the wrapping behavior by triggering the Next action--by clicking on the toolbar
button or its default keyboard shortcut, the space bar. But you can't invoke it
using the right arrow key. That should work, too.

After noting the different behaviour between docked and undocked, I tested a
related bug wherein one can't switch to the pan tool after picking a colour
from the Reference image panel, unless one taps the canvas first. When that
panel is docked, the bug doesn't occur. So this seems to impact several things
unfortunately.

Follow-on from https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387378

Since GNOME Tweak Tool is just totally inapplicable to Plasma, perhaps we ought
to simply blacklist it and prevent it from showing up when the user is running
Discover in Plasma. I can't think of a user who would actually intentionally
want to install GNOME Tweak Tool on Plasma who would be using Discover instead
of their package manager's command line interface.

[Discover] [Bug 387378] New: Suggest KDE equivalents of GNOME software

2017-11-27 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387378

Bug ID: 387378
Summary: Suggest KDE equivalents of GNOME software
   Product: Discover
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: discover
  Assignee: aleix...@kde.org
  Reporter: pointedst...@zoho.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Discover's default sort order is RatingCountRole, and GNOME Tweak Tool is
apparently very popular in GNOME-based distros, so it shows up as the second
entry once you click on Applications. But GNOME Tweak Tool totally inapplicable
and inappropriate for 99.9% of Discover users, nearly (if not actually) all of
whom are using Discover on KDE Plasma, not something GNOME-based. There are
many other pieces of GNOME software that feature prominently in Discover, yet
should probably not be recommended because there is a high quality KDE
equivalent:
- Nautilus (Dolphin)
- GNOME Builder (KDevelop)
- Pitivi (Kdenlive)

Not that there's anything wrong with these apps in general, but they're
probably not what a novice KDE Plasma user should be encouraged to install
because they will look weird and bring in a huge number of GTK and GNOME
dependencies that may mess up the system.

Where there is a high-quality KDE equivalent and Discover is being run in
Plasma, we might want to find a way to present that. Perhaps a yellow-colored
bar on top that says something like:

"This app is designed for GNOME desktops. The following app may work better
with your KDE Plasma desktop: [app name]

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 364039] Dolphin crashed on file transfer

k...@swiftninja.com changed:

This bug has haunted me for years. I found the fix (at least for me) by
complete accident.

I'm using a Synology NAS Connected via SAMBA through fstab entries at startup.

I had this problem. Cut & Pasting a group of files from my local machine to the
remote share (on the same network) would crash. This was an issue that appeared
one day after updating to Linux Mint 17. It would only ever crash on a CUT
operation. Copy and paste worked fine. Prior to that, everything worked (not
requiring the fix I'm about to observe).

The fix for me, which I found accidentally: specify your UID & GID on the mount
parameters in the FSTAB entry. For me, adding uid=1000,gid=1000 to the mount
options. Restart Samba or reboot. Voila, problem solved. Confirmed by reverting
said change, problem reappered. Added the UID & GID options back in, rebooted,
voila - confirmed - problem solved.

I really hope that helps someone else because this drove me bonkers FOR YEARS.

[krita] [Bug 382944] krita-3.1.4-x86_64.appimage fails to run with 'could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "xcb"'

2017-11-27 Thread Sean Bolton
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=382944

I'm sure this is no surprise, but the krita-3.3.2-x86_64.appimage still fails
to work on my Slackware 14.2-current system, failing for the exact same reason.

If the libpng package is being installed as a dependency of libpng-devel, why
does libpng16.so.16 not get included in the AppImage? Is it maybe because
libpng12.so.2 is included, and the build script thinks that satisfies the need
for libpng16?

@cpel, if you do pursue this standard AppImage build tool, you might look at
how the pax-utils 'lddtree' [1] tool scans for library dependencies, which
could relieve the packager of the necessity of listing the dependencies by
hand.

[plasmashell] [Bug 379649] Application Launcher search box does not accept keyboard input

2017-11-27 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379649

I encountered what seems to be a variation of the issue after configuring an
additional keyboard layout.

I added another keyboard layout as follows:

1. Open System Settings >> Input Devices >> Keyboard >> Layouts tab
2. Check "Configure layouts" to enable the widgets below
3. Click the "Add" button
4. Use the following settings:
a. Limit selection by language: English
b. Layout: English (US)
c. Variant: English (US, international with dead keys)
d. Label: es
e. Shortcut: None
5. Click "Apply"

It'll work fine immediately after adding it, but I encounter the issue after
the PC wakes up from being suspended.

1. Open the Application Launcher >> Leave >> Suspend
2. Wake up PC after a while and log back into your session
3. Open Application Launcher and try to make a search

Any setting may work, but I've not tested many and the ones above are the ones
I used. I don't know if it'll happen with any possible keyboard layout, or if a
specific layout needs to be "active" at some point to trigger it.

In addition, after hitting the issue, trying to re-open the "Configure layouts"
window after waking up the PC takes 1+ minute and often hangs, making it
difficult to undo the cause.

In order to fix it, I've had to (patiently) go back to the keyboard layouts,
undo the steps I outlined above, and then reboot the PC for things to go back
to normal.

There seems to be a deeper issue here.

Git commit bcb7dd628811a4fab92274ea9da1d670c6046a1e by Friedrich W. H.
Kossebau.
Committed on 27/11/2017 at 21:42.
Pushed by kossebau into branch 'master'.

Revert "Detach before setting the d pointer"

Summary:
This reverts commits 04cc49c71bdb948e06ccae2d97d7cc1a1d2f62af as well
as the follow-up partial fix c32c8d002e1216373560c94738841a7a5e1b976b

The whole internal data sync'ing design of the KNewStuff core library
relies on EntryInternal instances explicitely sharing the data.
Changing only EntryInternal to implicitly shared data broke things.
And changed behaviour of that class also for any 3rd-party consumers.

So, let's start from scratch.
system-timesyncd is used in order to sync the local **clock**. Local clocks
should be in UTC (as all distros advice uses to set the clocks to UTC) and
Timezones should be handled by the shells/Desktop Environments.

Other DE already have this implemented and I would just love to have this in

If I may, I would like to contribute to Appimage packaging for KDE in general.
I don't know if any KDE applications other than Krita and KDevelop are
distributing Appimages, but creating a standard tool which bundles KF libs and
Qt would benefit application distribution in the long run.

2017-11-27 Thread Kristian

   Product: digikam
   Version: 5.7.0

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Albums-MainView
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kde-b...@kristiankoch.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Today, I ran into a pretty strange bug:

The album view currently shows no photos in any album. However, if "show album
sub-tree" under View is activated, it shows all photos stored in the database.
No matter which album I select, it loads all photos. This makes the album view
completely unusable.

Strangely, I did not update digikam since September, but several Qt packages
5.9.2-1 -> 5.9.3-1 just yesterday. Furthermore, all other views work as
expected (tags, timeline, etc.). Any idea where to start searching?

sample fix

I'm attaching small patch that fixes this issue for me (sorry it's based on
kdepim-addons 17.08 from debian experimental).

I've found that EventDataVisitor::insertResult is sometimes called with invalid
startDateTime. And due to this insertResult will stuck forever.

Another possible fix is to implement check in BaseEventDataVisitor::isInRange
just to make sure that both start and end dates are valid.

Hope it's enough for devs to understand cause of this issue.

It's the dependencies script which doesn't work, not the actual build script.

I could not get the build script provided by the Krita git working; I couldn't
find a single working packaging script elsewhere. I'm curious as to how the
Krita team generates its Appimages, cause it seems like a mess at the moment.

I feel like KDE needs a standardized Appimage packager, like Electron provides.

Hi Barbara,

Uninstalling and reinstalling Krita won't make any difference. You could try to
reset Krita's configuration
(https://docs.krita.org/KritaFAQ#Resetting_Krita_configuration), or try to
enable the Windows Ink API in Settings/Configure Krita/tablet.

But in any case, this is simply _not_ a bug in Krita. Not even if your stylus
works in other applications. If Krita was working fine before, and now it
doesn't then something else must have changed on your system that broke things.

Did you get a Windows update? Or did you update the driver for your tablet?
Try to check whether you have the latest driver for your device.

a few days ago I was able to use Krita normally, but today when I was going to
use it, the brush does not correspond to the tip of the Stylus and it is
severely away from the desired place. it is important to note that my pc is a
hybrid and I can use the Stylus normally in other contexts except Krita.
I have already tried to restart the computer and i unistalled the program and
installed it again but it didn't solve anything.

For bash (as this is the shell I am familiar with), what's the output of:
$ bind -p | grep previous-history

Also, have you modified the key bindings settings in Konsole -> settings ->
edit current profile -> keyboard? if you edited any of the key bindings
lists/schemas there, a file with the extension *.keytab is created under
~/.local/share/konsole/ .

Can confirm. Also fullscreen state for these windows isn't remembered. Plus i
noticed that for example - dimensions and fullscreen state for 'Task Manager'
settings module window are remembered (but not the position of the window), and
dimensions, fullscreen state and position for 'Power Saving' settings module
window aren't remembered

The AppImage is too old. There is already another syntax for changing the
tables. Please wait a bit in the next few days with the pre-release AppImages
if MySQL is used.

Haven't tested last two weeks, but let's close this then. If it still occurs,
we'll see it again sooner or later, then have another backtrace for the updated
code - I'll post that one then.

[kate] [Bug 387365] New: Kate unwantedly resolves symlinks when adding files to a session

2017-11-27 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387365

Bug ID: 387365
Summary: Kate unwantedly resolves symlinks when adding files to
a session
   Product: kate
   Version: 17.08.1
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: nfx...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

This is an issue when opening files from a path that goes through symlinks
(i.e. symlinked directory). It seems saving and reloading the session
"resolves" any symlinked portions of a file path. Before cleanly reloading the
session, there's also some weird behavior that makes it sometimes show the same
document under the resolved and unresolved path, and there are weird issues
with the project view.

This weird behavior surely qualifies as bugs. In addition, I would like kate
not to resolve symlinks at all, because I use symlink for organizing messed up
directory structures to some degree.

I think 3 letters or more could be a trigger for search or there can be an
option for adjusting such functionality (possibly with minimal value of 3) -
similarly to 'Minimal word length to complete' in Kate 'Auto Completion'
settings
