KWin will not add vnc support for security and stability reasons. Due to that
I'm setting to WONTFIX.

But there is experimental code for adding a protocol which allows to write a
vnc server. This might land for 5.13.

[kate] [Bug 388025] Failed to create backup copy

2017-12-21 Thread MountainX
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388025

Kate 17.08.3 is able to save files to SSHFS mounts and make the backup copy
when that option is enabled.

Starting with Kate 17.12.0, when the "backup on save" option is enabled, Kate
produces an error dialog and fails to make the backup copy on save.

In an effort to isolate this, I started with an Arch Linux system that had not
been updated in about two weeks. It was running Kate 17.08.3 and making backup
copies on saving files to SSHFS mounts was working correctly.

I attempted to upgrade only Kate from 17.08.3 to 17.12.0. However, that is not
possible, as Kate 17.12.0 requires a new version of qt5-base and a number of
other components. I'm running Arch Linux, and Arch doesn't support partial
upgrades anyway.

So I am forced to do a full system update in order to move from Kate 17.08.3 to
17.12.0. But when I do that upgrade, Kate 17.12.0 fails to be able to make
backup copies on saving the file.

The problem also happens in the latest version of KWrite. However, KWrite does
not produce the error dialog. It fails silently (not a good thing when this
means that your expected backup copies simply are not made).

There is no way to configure mouse settings in KDE Neon dev-unstable, running
under VirtualBox. For exmaple, no way to setup double-click to open folders,
had to manually edit ~/.config/kdeglobals and add SingleClick=false to [KDE]
section there.

https://i.imgur.com/NUTiUOZ.png - no "Mouse" section, and some options like
using double click to open files in unconfigurable.

   Product: krita
   Version: 3.3.2
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED

onion skin (in red) only appearing under newly drawn strokes

After scrubbing the timeline, the onion skin is only appearing under newly
drawn brush strokes. Toggling the onion skin on and off appears to make it
behave normally.

[kmail2] [Bug 388132] New: Column view not remembered upon program restart when multiple columns are present

2017-12-21 Thread Robert
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388132

Bug ID: 388132
Summary: Column view not remembered upon program restart when
multiple columns are present
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.7.0
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: robert.biel...@outlook.com
  Target Milestone: ---

If you choose View > Message List > Theme > Smart with clickable status, and
then you resize the two columns appropriately, followed by a restart of the
program. The second status column will expand to almost the whole view leaving
the message header unreadable, or it will resize itself differently.

Reproducible: Almost always

Steps to reproduce:

1) choose View > Message List > Theme > Smart with clickable status.

2) Adjust column width or leave as is if message header is long enough.

3) Restart Program

Actual Result:

Status column is expanded and message column is shrunk and cut off, or the
sizing is changed.

Expected result:

User defined or original column sizing is preserved across kmail sessions

System info:

KDE Neon 5.11.4 user edition

Plasma 5.11.4
KDE Frameworks 5.41
QT 5.9.3
KDE Apps 17.12

Git commit c4f22aad945c58864c67a815f775fd82f974389b by Andrea Scarpino.
Committed on 22/12/2017 at 01:25.
Pushed by scarpino into branch 'master'.

Use QOAuth1Signature instead of QOAuth1::signature

QOAuth1::signature has been removed in 5.10.0 and QOAuth1Signature
should be used instead (exists since 5.8.0). However in 5.10.0 there's a
regression and it requires a patch to work (see QTBUG-65422).

[valgrind] [Bug 388017] Callgrind produces empty log for pulseaudio

Amazing, thanks, the `--trace-children=yes` did the trick! I guess, this bug
can be closed, not sure about the wording — "RESOLVED"? "NOTABUG"?

On an irrelevant note, I also tried running under valgrind and Wine a PE binary
compiled with MinGW — it resulted in valgrind quitting with these lines:

preloader: Warning: failed to reserve range 0011-6800
preloader: Warning: failed to reserve range 7f00-8200

valgrind: m_debuginfo/debuginfo.c:551 (check_CFSI_related_invariants):
Assertion 'cfsi_fits' failed.

…and then stacktrace follows. I'm wondering if it's something known or should
it be reported.

months ago (many reboots since then) was restored, together with a bogus
session to a malformed url.

As it turns out, OpenSuse Krypton (which provides KDE git snapshots) does not

Screen dump showing settings

I need to focus using a luminance filter but image using a Hydrogen Alpha
filter. This is because I have never been able to get focusing working through
the Hydrogen Alpha filter because of the noise levels.

When I set this up and it focuses between images it should be using the
Luminance filter but it never works. Instead each image gets more and more out
of focus. Because the image does not get reflected in the focus modeule it is
not obvious what is happening. It appears from my testing that it must be using
the Hydrogen Alpha filter instead and focusing on noise.

If I'm not mistaken KWin has access to the entire desktop content. If so, does
that mean it might thus be able to act as a VNC server (using the VNC qpa for
inspiration)?

That'd be a really nifty feature even if a bit far from traditional WM

When I go back to the summary screen the percentage increase but the counter

get repo-metadata to conform to a stricter YAML subset then YAML::Tiny

I was also hit by this nice interpretation of a "unique id" by Samsung.

But for me, re-scanning metadata for old samsung photos already known to
Digikam does NOT heal all internal database inconsistencies with Digikam 5.8.
I found that such images were falsely internally tagged as "originalVersion" by
Digikam which hides them from the album preview (unless you enable "always show
original images" in Settings > Image Editor > Versioning).

See bug 354819 for further details of my journey.

By the way, during my travel inside digikam4.db, I also noticed that the
ImageHistory table also still knows the old, problematic uniqueId for my
Samsung photos. Not sure if this could also harm someday.

This could be the same bug as #386370 but I am not sure. I don't have a

this now.

I have tried different desktop switching effects, and I think what is causing
the issue is the "Desktop Switch On-Screen Display" option.

kwin crashes somewhat randomly when switching desktops. But it is fairly
regularly. I ran "kwin_x11" in a Konsole and before it crashes I get messages

Right, the first import was the problem. We read though no XMP data exists an

My last commit fixes this issue. We always create a new Uuid now when the
metadata is completely read. The problem should not occur now. I myself have a

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354819

Ok, I'm one large step ahead: all problematic images are internally tagged as
"Original Version" despite I surely never edited those files:

sqlite> select * from ImageTags where imageid in (93042);
93042|112
sqlite> select * from Tags where id=112;
112|110|Original Version|0|

I can either delete the wrong internal tag:
delete from ImageTags where imageid in (select id from Images where
name="20170907_102007.jpg");
or enable the "always show original version" setting in digikam.

My theory: During initial import from the Samsung smartphone, the files had the
non-unique ImageUniqueID in EXIF data which Samsung deliberately uses to
confuse people. Due to importing several files with the same unique ID, digikam
somehow internally thought they are related and tagged some of them internally
as "original version".

Now, we could do what we want: manually change/remove EXIF ImageUniqueID field,
internally create own uniqueIDs for it, moving the file away and back to
digikam folders - this would never remove the internal originalVersion tag
again.

Is it possible that those pictures received this flag because they

On my system running Kate 17.12.0 (where making the backup copy fails), testing
Kate's "Save Copy As..." feature works as expected. The copy has the correct

>From `konsole --help`:

Yes, i have read the docs. If i start it with
$konsole
it opens a new process/window and blocks the calling process. If I use
$konsole --separate
it opens a new process/window and blocks the calling process. So, what is the
difference?

>--new-tab will open a new window if konsole isn't set to run all windows in a

Cannot confirm. It only works if the current Konsole was started with
"--new-tab". Otherwise the flag is ignored and a new window is opened. The
setting "Run all Konsole windows in a single process" does not change anything.

My problem is this test case: A Konsole window was started with "konsole". Now
all three commands
"konsole"
"konsole --separate"
"konsole --new-tab"
show the very same behaviour.

Shift+{Left, Right} are the default shortcuts to switch to previous/next tab
respectively.

Shift+Up (Up+Shift-AppScreen) and Shift+Down (Down+Shift-AppScreen) are bound
in Konsole to ScrollLineUp and ScrollLineDown respectively; can you try
removing those key bindings from Konsole profile settings?

[kdesrc-build] [Bug 388109] After the removal of the XML, kdesrc-build downloads wrong metadata

2017-12-21 Thread Michael Pyne
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388109

I can't reproduce here. The error occurs when reading the metadata for
calligra/calligra (which is not in my normal module set), so I also tried
having that processed by kdesrc-build, without error.

This is using kdesrc-build 17.12 (v17.12),
sysadmin/repo-metadata.git at ac556669730075067014d88a8780610f564b6525

My first suspicion would be the Perl YAML module being used. I had started
with YAML::Tiny but that had errors reading some of the YAML used in
sysadmin/repo-metadata.

So I shifted to use YAML::XS or whatever Perl finds with "YAML" (hoping it
would support enough of YAML for the repo-metadata). Installing YAML::XS may
be a possible fix. I've also tried YAML::PP manually, and it does work, but
it's much slower.

Could you try installing one of those two Perl modules (YAML::XS or YAML::PP)?
>From some digging I just did it seems that searching for "YAML" is not
currently handled in Perl the same way they do for "JSON" (which searches a
priority list of modules until one is eventually found). They will do that,
but haven't yet, so I'll need to manually require YAML::XS or YAML::PP in the
meantime.

Please produce an easy to use front end designed to simply split videos into
clips similiar to Easy Video Splitter http://www.doeasier.org/splitter/.

I always have issues splitting videos in kdenlive and all the extra
functionality creates a lot of confusion for folks not needing full linear
editing capabilities.

A simple to use wizard would also work as well.
