You should uninstall the one you don't want. plasma-pa is part of Plasma and
have Plasma applet, while kmix does not, but it is entirely up to you which one
you prefer.

Shoot of the dialog saying it could not delete

Removing icon themes from SystemSettings > Icons using the "Remove Theme"

There are no visible crashes or errors but this.

I can delete them manually without a problem.
This happens no matter how you installed them manually to ~/local/share/icons
or using "Get New Themes".

This is due to the ABI change in KCalCore, you shouldn't have ended up with a
crash though if you're using distro packages, due to dependencies and ABI check
it should have prevented the upgrade.

Anyway, it's been fixed already in commit
3df91dd81682d2ccfe542c4582dc1d5f98537c89. This will be published as part of
Zanshin 0.5.0 real soon now (likely today).

[plasmashell] [Bug 388477] New: Plasma crashes when activating the Application Launcher

2018-01-02 Thread Tristan Miller

   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.11.4
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk

Qt Version: 5.10.0
Frameworks Version: 5.40.0
Operating System: Linux 4.14.8-1-default x86_64
Distribution: "openSUSE Tumbleweed"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Sometimes Plasma crashes when activating the Application Launcher (or maybe
just when I mouse over the panel on the way to activating the Application
Launcher; it's hard to tell). This typically happens after KDE has been
running for a long period. Once the crash happens for the first time, it
becomes more frequently (though not consistently) reproducible. Logging out
and then back in again seems to prevent the crashes from happening for a while.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

[digikam] [Bug 384934] Install failed on Windows 10

2018-01-02 Thread Bartosz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=384934

Hi,
This time it is installed, but I ended up with wrong entries in start.
During installation I was asked if I want the icons to be saved in menu
digiKam 5.5.0, I changed to 5.8.0 expecting new ones appeared under folder.
Challenge - since you do not allow installation of multiple versions at the
same time, what is the point in having version suggested in start. "digKam"
as a folder name probably would do.
If not then it should never attempt to install as version 5.5.0 (using
existing entries I guess somewhere in registry?).
Uninstallation worked fine except removing the digikam properly form start
- only 5.8.0 entries were removed...
Can you please suggest how to remove the redundant entries from start now?

and it doesn't stick to each other and there is some spacing

Thank you so much guys! I found my missing files.

I think I lost more in the past while trying different KDE Distros since I use
a 2HDD as storage, but at least now it will be fixed. =)

[digikam] [Bug 388476] New: Missing image metadata in gallery.xml

2018-01-02 Thread dotCOMmie
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388476

Bug ID: 388476
Summary: Missing image metadata in gallery.xml
   Product: digikam
   Version: 5.6.0
  Platform: Debian testing
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Export-HTMLGallery
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: b...@dotcommie.net
  Target Milestone: ---

Exporting to html gallery some important information about the image is
incorrect / missing:

collections/collection/image/title
Field maps to file name [1] instead of image title; I think this used to be the
case with the KIPI based html export as well.

collections/collection/image/date
Field is missing for some reason; without this field its not possible to sort
the generated album using XSL:sort. Work around is to use
collections/collection/image/exif/exifimagedatetime but it has its own
challenges as described below.

collections/collection/image/exif/exifimagedatetime
The date gets converted to local date/time format of system on which the
gallery was created [2], this makes it hard for a theme writer to do anything
with the date. There is value in keeping this field as is, but it would be very
handy is ISO8601 variant of this field was also supplied so it could be treated
in standards compatible way.

It's 2018 and KDE is not, IMHO, taking this headache seriously. I see projects
like KioFuse or even Gnome projects like KIO-GioBridge, but the fact is that a
professional can't stay fighting against the incompatibility between KIO-GIO on
accessing to SMB/FTP/FISH remote files.

It's a pity, but I see this new year as one more in which I will not be able to
suggest Linux desktop as a development platform in LAN/WAN environments.

Fixed in commit 76ed16d7943791c851eaafd9afedd3127b02

Fix Python dependency in test scripts for KFileMetaData (bug 375472)

Summary:
KFileMetaData test scripts are usable in both deprecated Python 2, and new
Python 3. This removes 'python2' from the shebang and uses the regular
'python' interpreter, thereby removing the requirement of Python 2 being on a
system to be able to test KFileMetaData.

Additionally, it removes unused imports.

Test Plan:
This patch was applied to:
* 5.23
* 5.26
* 5.29

It was tested on Linux kernel 4.4 using:
* x86_64
* x86_32
* PowerPC

With the following Python versions:
* 2.7.10
* 3.4.4
* 3.5.1

It was tested on glibc and musl libc.

[krusader] [Bug 388244] How to force remote files to be opened via GVFS, avoiding KIO

2018-01-02 Thread Rafael
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388244

Sorry, I can't try just now the information you wrote about Gwenview possible
local issue.

I discovered all this problems at work, where we work in a Windows domain with
a lot of Samba shared folders and, moreover, against a lot of remote servers
thru FTP and FISH protocols. It's a pity that we are in 2018 and I can't
recommend seriously Linux desktop environments for professional working on a
LAN/WAN workspace. It's a constant headache (I'm using Linux for 6 years) to
find problems like this that make a simple user to give up if he has not a free
software conviction.

I'll try to "wake up" KioFUSE developers, cause this is a "must" to work in
certain development environments.

Thank you for your very useful information

[kwin] [Bug 388473] New: KWin crashes during window switching after previous crash

2018-01-02 Thread awilfox

  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general

Application: kwin_x11 (5.8.7)

Qt Version: 5.9.1
Frameworks Version: 5.41.0
Operating System: Linux 4.14.8-mc2-easy x86_64

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Note: All my Plasma/KWin settings are the default ones from KDE upstream. I
haven't changed any effects or settings other than focus follows mouse, and
using plastiK Aurorae theme.

There's another crash in KWin that I am trying to debug involving ffplay.
While attempting to debug that crash, I used Alt+Tab to cycle through windows
to reach Firefox. KWin had already crashed one time. I noticed that on the
thumbnail bar (left third of screen), the Firefox window that was at the bottom
of the list had no thumbnail. When I reached it, and it became highlighted,
KWin immediately crashed. Upon relaunching, the Firefox window still had no
thumbnail, and using Alt+Tab again caused the same crash with the same
backtrace. Repeated once again, and now thumbnails are no longer showing up
because compositing was disabled. Re-enabling compositing now causes Alt+Tab
to always crash.

installed version does not appear in the version list. It is:
4:5.11.4+p16.04+git20171223.0044-0 (Neon)

One of the networks I have configured is a network with an invisible SSID. I
rarely use it, so it is rather annoying to see that network all the time in
network list although it is not present. It would be better if this network
only appeared in the list if it was available.

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 388471] New: Open in file manager doesn't work for superfloppies

2018-01-02 Thread Matthew Trescott
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388471

Bug ID: 388471
Summary: Open in file manager doesn't work for superfloppies
   Product: frameworks-kio
   Version: 5.41.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Screenshot of error dialog

I have a flash drive formatted in "superfloppy" mode. That is, it has no
partition table and the filesystem takes up the entire space. When I plug it in
and hit "Open in file manager" in the Device Notifier, I get the dialog shown
in the attached screenshot, and Dolphin does not open. This only occurs once
per session; logging out and logging back in seems to be the only way to
reproduce the problem, at least with this particular flash drive.

pretty difficult. I bang away until I solve them. I've come to a particular

Fixed minor issues from Andreas' comment 26

Test results are equal to nonpatched version on z13 machine.
On earlier machine vector test shouldn't be executed however I haven't any one

I guess it's ready to apply since all your suggestions are implemented.

[krita] [Bug 388283] Crash when holding down CTRL with 2 canvases open

2018-01-02 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388283

Hi Boudewijn,

It does continue to happen with a default configuration. It only occurs on
tools that switch to the color picker when CTRL is held down, so brush tool,
rectangle tool, ellipse tool, etc. The cursor switches to the color picker
icon right as it crashes. I can also get it to crash with the "Similar Color
Selection Tool" though less consistently.

It crashes every time on my laptop, which is running Windows 8 and has 6MB of
RAM. However it does not crash my desktop also running Windows 8.

I'm struggling to figure out why it crashes on my laptop but not desktop. I'm
open to any other things to check out.

[plasmashell] [Bug 351008] Automatic change of Timezone based on location

2018-01-02 Thread Christoph Feck
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=351008

> In Gnome 3

Are you sure it isn't implemented in some lower libraries/daemons/services? If
the timezone changes, there needs to be a signal (DBus etc.) from whatever
service watches your geolocation.

It cannot be implemented in Plasma, because then the timezone that Plasma
thinks you are in would be different to the timezone your system thinks you are
in.

[amarok] [Bug 388465] New: VFAT-safe file names cannot end with dot or space

2018-01-02 Thread Stefano Pettini
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=388465

Bug ID: 388465
Summary: VFAT-safe file names cannot end with dot or space
   Product: amarok
   Version: 2.8-git
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Collections/Organize Files Dialog
  Assignee: amarok-bugs-d...@kde.org
  Reporter: stefano.pett...@gmail.com
CC: ralf-eng...@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: 2.9

According to Microsoft documentation, not only the following characters are not
supported in VFAT <>:"/\|?* but also filenames cannot end with space of dot.

This last part is not corrected by the "VFAT-safe file name" option when
renaming tracks. For example, songs ending with "..." create a problem.

What do you mean with official? The fix in Qt will be distributed starting with
Qt 5.11, any backport for an earlier Qt version is not official, but on the
distribution's own risk.

Anyway, I suggest to ask your distribution for a backport, it should even apply
to the Qt 5.9 versions (openSUSE already ships those).

Closing, as it has been resolved upstream.

Unfortunally this would require to have whole kdevelop including dependencies
as build dependency on Windows :-(

This will result - at least on windows - into a dedicated kdevplatform package
which uses kdevelop source and builds/installs only the kdevplatform sub dir.

Then the dependency needs to be 'kdevelop' if kdevplatform > 5.1 is required,
because at least in recent opensuse distro there is no kdevelop-devel or
kdevelop-kdevplatform-devel package (see
https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/openSUSE:Leap:42.3/kdevelop5/kdevelop5.spec?expand=1)
It would be easier to have a dedicated kdevelop-kdevplatform-devel, but this
seems to be a distribution issue.

> What you suggest makes sense, but the thing is that this requires the

> three weeks.

I guess this could be solved by installing related files into a version
specific private folder similar to what Qt5 does. Those files are only valid
for the given version and may be different on other versions.

At a first look the header files from the build dir will fall into this
category and should be installed into /kdev-php/private/x.y/ while
the files from the source dir could got into /kdev-php ?

cmake build system then needs to add this include path
/kdev-php/private/x.y to the generated target interfaces in the
cmake find package config files.

> They need to be asked whether they can/want to do this ...

I added the recent kdev-php maintainer to this bug, but did not get any answer.
May be I should add Milian too ?

Yes. 95% its it.

I'm connected to the internet

Maybe this is the cause.
I use cntlm to pass thru proxy and have HTTP_PROXY, HTTPS_PROXY, FTP_PROXY,
FTPS_PROXY (+ lowercase variants) env variables pointing to CNTLM (i.e.
http://127.0.0.1:3128).

KDE desktop tools, chrome, intellij idea, almost all software correctly detects
