[dolphin] [Bug 152150] Cannot 'Open as Root' files/directories
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152150 --- Comment #14 from Bo Weaver--- First let me correct your English. “Resolved” is not the right word to be using. This problem has NOT been resolved. OK it is also marked “WONTFIX” this is fine since your arrogance has spoken and you feel you have the right to restrict to use of applications that someone wants to use as they see fit. What happened to the term “Open System”?? I am totally appalled of the fact that you cut out threads in the bug report posted by me and others saying this is a bad idea and doesn’t secure a thing. This is an open forum you know the “free exchange of ideas”. This was only done in order for you the developers to not look bad and not look stupid. Still sweeping things under the rug doesn’t make things right. It just shows your integrity as a Human Being. There are work arounds around your broken applications Leafpad works just fine. Sure it doesn’t have the features and functions Kate does. It isn’t as pretty but… IT WORKS! I just loaded PcmanFM file manager and it works great it even has some nice functions that Dolphin doesn’t have, and IT WORKS! This will keep me making a living until I can move my work machine over to LXDE. The sad thing is after over 20 years of using KDE and loving it I am now in the process of moving over to LXDE. After doing some research the LXDE group seem to have a better understanding of the term “Open Systems”. No it isn’t as nice and isn’t as polished but everything works. As a Pen Tester normally on a Linux machine when I try to hijack a root process I go for more of a system process and not Kate or Dolphin processes running as root. A system process is less likely to be killed while compromising the machine where Kate running as root can be killed at any time by the user when they complete whatever task they are doing with Kate. Rest assured from this day forward when I’m in a Linux box looking for a running root process to hijack I will go for all those root processes that start with a “K” just to prove you have secured NOTHING by your actions. Just made your product unusable. BTW Did you all work for Microsoft in the past? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

This is consistent with my testing. However, I've been using curves with 3 - 8 peaks, attempting to visually match the fitted curve precisely to the actual data so that without zooming in they appear to be 100% identical. It is while repeatedly calculating the curves and tweaking the resulting values that the crash occurs, and continues to occur. I'll attach a screenshot of what I managed to get as far as results go yesterday, but have not been able to get the 'L' curve to fit any better (theoretically I should be able to get it to fit as well as the 'M' curve, but the algorithms refuse to behave rationally in some cases). All three curves are fit with 5 peaks. Either way, my troubles with fitting the curves are not the topic of this bug, but rather the fact that the program crashes after simply changing some values over and over. I don't believe that should happen. Also, I had already built Labplot with debugging symbols, but I'm now in the process of rebuilding it for installation in '/usr'. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

It seems that thumbnails are not correctly saved. (Also changing the part of the thumbnail does not trigger the flag that the brush has changed.) Additionally, the lists of brush selection dialogues seem not to be updated accordingly with these changes. Please see attached video. Also note that overwriting a brush setting remove the tags of the brush (at least it looks like that so that it is no longer present in my own brush list). When I change a brush and overwrite it, I, personally, don't want that tags get lost. BR Peter -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391019 --- Comment #1 from GuHua--- Worth to mention: powerline doesn't have the "extra one space" bug in bash, so I presume the extra spaces are purely generated by the terminal emulator (konsole generates that; terminator doesn't). I set some right widgets in powerline and they should be displayed precisly to the right boarder of the console screen. However, in Konsole, there is one extra space displayed to the right of the widgets. More strangely, there are two extra spaces for the second line of the powerline prompt. In other terminal emulators, there are no these extra spaces. In (the first part of) the attached screenshot, there are altogether two extra spaces for the first line and three extra spaces for the second line. One of (each of) them is a bug related to powerline itself, which also exists in the other terminal emulator (Terminator). I also tested bash with powerline. This time, the second line doesn't contain the correct widgets so I can't tell if there are extra spaces there. But the first line still has the (one) extra space. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

The attachment shown an illustration of this problem. The only action performed between the two segments is: hit the "tab" key to trigger auto-completion. I have tested that this problem won't happen if I'm using bash with powerline or I'm using zsh without powerline; it also won't happen if I'm using other terminal emulators (e.g. Terminator, (u)xterm) with zsh and powerline. As a result, this seems because of some special thing generated by powerline not correctly handled by konsole. If needed, my zsh config is https://github.com/renyuneyun/myconf/blob/master/home/.zshrc . The `.shrc` is simply many aliases and (non-related) environment variables. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[konsole] [Bug 391012] Konsole resets font size to 10 when I open "Select font" and click "Ok" button
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=391012 --- Comment #2 from Dr. Chapatin--- My font is terminus (sizes 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, 21, 24). I noticed that the problem occurs when I set a font size in "text size" that is not available in "Select font...". https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373574 Philippe Waroquierschanged: What|Removed |Added CC||philippe.waroquiers@skynet. ||be --- Comment #3 from Philippe Waroquiers --- I took a quick look at this problem. I have to admit that I do not too much understand the logic used to mark some syscall as SfMayBlock, or mark them as SfMayBlock only if --sim-hints=fuse-compatible or not marking them. For example, sys_rename is FUSE_COMPATIBLE_MAY_BLOCK(); while sys_renameat is not marked. I am guessing that depending on the fs (in particular, network file systems), all/most file system operations might potentially block. See e.g. bug 278057 comment 2). That being said, I think the problem you have is because PRE(sys_readlink) is doing the complete work of the syscall to possibly have some special logic needed to handle some /proc filenames. When using fuse-compatible, the syscall is marked as SfMayBlock but that is not expected when the PRE(sys_*) is doing all the work : effectively, if the PRE(sys_*) is doing all the work, how can the syscall block later on ? So, I think there are 2 ways to fix this: * if this syscall cannot block, then we can just remove the FUSE_COMPATIBLE_MAY_BLOCK. * if the readlink syscall can really block, then it is not ok to have the PRE(sys_readlink) doing the work. The PRE(sys_readlink) should change the first argument when needed, let the async syscall handling do the syscall, and then the POST(sys_readlink) should cleanup the changed argument (assuming we need some dynamic memory for the changed argument). So, at this point, what is really needed is a better understanding of the SfMayBlock logic ... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
