Window move only works if KWin can grab the X mouse. By pressing the mouse
before activating the window most likely holds a grab. Thus KWin cannot grab.
This is an application bug: don't grab!

Just to clarify my experience while waiting for his response. It happened to me
some time ago with a certain configuration to a network printer managed outside
my control, and a certain printer driver (I cannot remember anymore). Only on
Okular, Evince and other softwares printed fine. After they have made some
obscure updates to the network printing system and changed the authenthication
(it is also possible I selected a different driver from CUPS list, there were
many applicable to the Hp P4015n), I have not experienced the bug anymore.

I had edited it.  That is what i meant in "Updated the mount point to something
easier to read which updated fstab"

See attachment.  I had changed the mount point as so but left the no auto mount
unchecked.  It updated fstab, i rebooted, and the system would not boot except
to only the maintenace/emergency mode.

With the default single-click setting, selection markers are practically
mandatory, since without them there is no way to select files with the mouse.

But if you change the setting to double-click, they become useless annoyances:
clicking anywhere on an icon selects it, so there's no need for a tiny hover
button in the corner to provide this feature.

Plasma's Folder View shows and hides the selection markers automatically based
on this setting; we should do the same in Dolphin.

I'll at some point have to try to experiment to reproduce this issue.

By tthe way how did you add mount point to fstab? At the moment Partition
Manager can not yet add mount points, only edit them. So just creating a new
LUKS encrypted partition wouldn't trigger this...

When creating the luks drive and setting the password.  tell the user if
automount is set, they will be prompted for the password during boot. 
Configure Partition manager to force the password prompt during boot if
automount is set for a luks drive.

This would allow them to type in the password to let the system to continue to
boot and avoid reinstalling like i did until i figured out what the issue was.

I wasn't able find any resources on the net to help me find how to fix it.  I
had to stage it and experiment until i realized the issue.  I made a backup of
fstab and then experimented until i understood the issue.

I feel like I may not be expressing myself very clearly here. Let me try again:

It only makes sense for something to be double-clickable if there are things
you can do with it when it's selected, but not yet open.

Changing the setting to double-click affects the behavior for clicking *files
and folders.* The purpose of using double-click when applied to files and
folders is to make selection easier, because files and folders have a lot of
things you can do with them once they're selected.

Changing the setting to double-click does *not* change the number of clicks
required to activate buttons or menus. This is because these UI elements never
need to be selected, and there is nothing you could do with them after
selection even if you could select them. 

I am asserting that the icons in System Settings Icon mode have more in common
with buttons than they do with files and folders because they never need to be
selected, as evidenced by the fact that when double-click is set, they
erroneously *can* be selected, but there's nothing special you can do with
them. Ergo, it makes sense to treat them like buttons rather than files, and
always activate them with the first click regardless of whether single-click or
double-click is the click method for files and folders.

Does that make sense?

Any suggestions what would have helped you to avoid the problem? Maybe a
warning dialog when mountpoint of LUKS partition is changed?

Obviously it would still be good to have the feature to edit luks mountpoints
for more advanced user. But I agree, for a new user it might be dangerous.

-Duplicated this on KFedora and headless Fedora install.
-After installing Fedora/KDE onto unencrypted drive.  Created a LUKS encrypted
drive.  Updated the mount point to something easier to read which updated
fstab.  Fedora failed to boot because it could not unlock the drive.  Partition
Manager should not endanger a newbie (like myself).  I figured out how to get
around it by setting up the encrypted drives to not auto mount during boot.

Plasma 5 makes a distinction between persistent and non-persistent
notifications.

For example,

  notify-send "Non-persistent notification"

sends a non-persistent notification, while

  notify-send -t 0 "Persistent notification"

sends a persistent notification.

The different in behaviour (that I can see) is that non-persistent
notifications disappear after a few seconds, and do not increment the
notification count in the "Notifications" system tray icon. On the other hand,
persistent notifications do increment the count, and (in principle) stick
around until dismissed.

However, I have noticed that sometimes even persistent notifications
mysteriously disappear. It happens intemittently, and on a timescale that seems
to vary from ~20 minutes to several hours, but sometimes I'll come back to my
computer after several hours of absence and a notification that should be there
isn't. (I know it should be there because I had the application that sent it
log that it did indeed send it.)

I assume this is a bug; it seems to me that persistent notifications should
stick around indefinitely until they are dismissed.

The popup notifications that Konversation generates are not persistent: they
disappear after a few seconds, and do not cause the notification count in the
"Notifications" system tray icon to increment (in Plasma 5).

This means it's very easy to miss notifications about new messages and such.

I think Konversations's notifications should be made persistent; or at the very
least, there should be an option to make them persistent.

To clarify what I mean by "persistent", it's the difference between:

versus:

  notify-send -t 0 "Persistent notification"

I upgraded to Plasma 5.12 specifically to try this fix. However, what I'm
seeing is that even though non-persistent notifications are added to the
notification history, they do not cause the counter in the system tray icon to
increment, nor give any other visual cue that there are new notifications in
the history.

So, for example, if I step away from my computer for a while, and someone sends
me an IRC message, the resulting notification that Konversation generates is
added to my notification history, but there's nothing to indicate that I have a
new message when I come back, unless I explicitly click on the system tray icon
and check the notification history.

Am I not using / configuring the feature correctly? Otherwise it doesn't seem
like much of an improvement over the previous state.

Any transformation that does not just translate and/or scale the window.
Although scaling can also benefit from this, so I guess any transformation that

Some comments on the branch:

There is no need to call unbind() before deleting an object - deleting an
object also unbinds it from any bind points it is bound to in the current
context.

[libkwineffects] simplify GLRenderTarget:

Please split this commit so each change is done as a separate commit. It makes
the changes easier to review.

I think finalPrePaintScreen() should create the render buffer and render target
on-demand, and also destroy them when PAINT_SCREEN_MULTISAMPLE is not set. They
consume a lot of memory, so we don't want to keep them around when they are not
being used.

I would rename m_multisamplingCtx to m_multisampling. Ctx suggests that it's a
GL context.

The changes look pretty good otherwise!

Ran into this bug(?) while trying to recreate the Unity drag to unmaximize
feature. I was originally trying to use libtaskmanager's "requestMove"
function, but I've since tested with the global shortcut and it also doesn't
work.

You can quickly test with:

sleep 5; qdbus org.kde.kglobalaccel /component/kwin invokeShortcut "Window
Move"

First run the command, then hold the LeftButton down until the shortcut is
activated.

You'll notice the mouse moved to the center of the window, but the window will
not follow the mouse. Nor will LeftClicks do anything anywhere on the screen.
The mouse can still be moved around, but mouse clicks do nothing. If you
release the mouse the window quickly moves to where you released it. Mouse
clicks are still not responsive until you press Space (accept move) or Esc
(cancel move).

It's not just system settings, it's all icon views; and it's been that
behaviour since forever.

The code explicitly goes out of it's way to set it (it's our QPT:
QPlatformTheme::ItemViewActivateItemOnSingleClick) before that it was handled
in our KItemViews subclasses.

There's no reason to double click anything. But a user has explicitly opted in
for it. It's not for us to say that the double click is pointless.

Text in the KCM could change, behaviour can't.

In my backtrace, the segfault happens in 'get_charset ()' in file

In the original submitted backtrace, the symbol is from
"/usr/lib/libsmbconf.so.0".

Both of there reference the 'get_charset' symbol from samba even though,
looking at the sourcecode, it seems mysql includes its own definition of
'get_charset' in the file "mysys/charset.c:.  Is there something about the way
amarok loads mysql that could cause it to bind to 'get_charset' from the wrong
library?

Middle mouse wheel to ZOOM in/out works in main work area but not in overview

I've also just started getting this bug in the past week. No wallpaper appears
on my primary display and right-click doesn't bring up the context menu, but
the panel is still drawn. On my secondary monitor, the wallpaper renders fine
and the context menu can still be brought up.

I'm not exactly sure when it started, it might have been after the plasma
5.12.4 update?

Current status: still an issue; was previously closed for the wrong reason back
when I was a bugzilla n00b.

The bug is that the icons in System Settings Icon view should ignore the
setting and always activate on a single-click the way buttons do, since in
icons view they're behaving as buttons. There's no reason to make people
double-click them, since there are no actions that can be performed on them
when selected.

Main panel and playlist panel show the same thing

Steps to Reproduce:
- Click on Albums
- Double-click on an album, or click on its folder icon after overing the mouse
over it
- Click on "Replace and play"

This will give you a rather odd-looking UI whereby the playlist panel on the
right shows exactly the same view as the main panel, with the exception that
the main panel does not show playback status, and the playlist panel is too
narrow to show the full track names. The whole thing feels rather odd and
duplicative. See attached screenshot.

When you change focus from a selectable QLabel (that is, a QLabel with
TextSelectableByKeyboard and TextSelectableByMouse interaction flags set), the
text cursor doesn't disappear. You can click back on the label, and it will
change the position of cursor as intended, but clicking on anything else won't
remove the cursor.

Steps to reproduce:
1) right click on any file in Dolphin
2) click Properties
3) on General tab, click anywhere inside Location field (make sure you don't
select any characters)
4) click the edit control on the top (the one with file name)

Actual Results:
The text cursor in Location field didn't disappear

Expected Results:
The cursor should disappear

KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.44.0
Qt Version: 5.10.1
Kernel Version: 4.15.14-1-ARCH
Dolphin Version: 17.12.3

Additional Information:
This bug only occurs if nothing is selected. If at least one character is
selected, both the cursor and the highlight of the selected characters
disappear as intended.

This doesn't seem like a Dolphin bug. I made a Qt form with multiple QLabels,
and after clicking on each label, all of them had a text cursor.

This also doesn't look like a glitch, it's very consistent in how it works, and
it doesn't disappear on its own.

I should also note that the cursors (both the "real" one as well as the
"shadow" ones) don't blink. Not sure if they are supposed to blink or not, as I
don't remember how it's supposed to be. The cursor in the line edit widget
blinks correctly.

Things I tried:
- Changing window decorations and widget styles
- Disabling compositor (Shift+Alt+F12)
- Rebooting

Elisa quarter-tiled

Elisa nightly Flatpak build from kdeapps repo on Kubuntu 17.10

My current favorite music player, Lollypop, handles being quarter-tiled on my
1080p display very gracefully, and without any design or functionality
compromises. I tried the same with Elisa and found a bunch of bugs:
- Some UI elements overflow their frames
- Sidebar text is way too big
- The top header (with the blurry background) remains too large and takes up
too much of the limited space
- Playlist panel header text and icons are way too big
- Text in the playlist panel gets elided and is mostly unreadable
- In general, the area devoted to content becomes small compared to the area
for chrome

Screenshots attached.

The font used for both apps is Ubuntu 11.

Can reproduce with Gwenview master on KF 5.32 / Qt 5.6.2, but works fine with

Thanks for attaching the job file. This is actually the PostScript file that is
generated by Okular and passed to the printing system CUPS.
The file looks totally OK in my eyes; you can open it for viewing in Okular.

In my understanding, this suggests that the problem is only introduced during
the processing inside CUPS (the printing system, e.g. by one of the CUPS
filters or the printer itself). Unless Okular passes any "wrong" options, the
problem probably lies outside of Okular's responsibility.

In order to have a closer look at this, it would be necessary to see which
options are actually passed to CUPS.

Unfortunately those were not shown in the log output of comment 13. Was this
the output of the  command 'sudo journalctl _SYSTEMD_UNIT=cups.service'? If so,
could you please try to change the 'ErrorLog' directive in
'/etc/cups/cups-files.conf' to 'ErrorLog /var/log/cups/error_log', restart cups
('sudo systemctl restart cups.service'), print again and attach the log file
'/var/log/cups/error_log' that should have been created by then. (The mentioned
directive makes the output written to this file instead of syslog/journal, in
case the previous directive was 'ErrorLog syslog'.)

Some more thoughts:

How is the printer connected (e.g. a locally connected USB printer or a network
printer or a printer shared from another host)? Can you please post the output
of the command 'lpstat -v' (or 'lpstat -v | grep ')?

Is there any file '/etc/cups/lpoptions' or '$HOME/.cups/lpoptions' present?


What happens if you print the job file attached in comment 17 directly from the
command line using the command 'lp -d  d01250-001' from a
directory where this file is located? Is the output the same?

Now I installed build 114. The strange palette behaviour remains:

1. Starting up krita with desktop shortcut or directly from krita.exe: 
no pallets appear in the palette docker except for those installed as bundles
by the resource manager (like in my case deevad and deevad-mini). New palettes
are saved in C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\krita\palettes but do not reappear
after restart.

2 When Krita starts up by doubbleclicking an existing document:
the palettes appear in the docker - also those previously saved new palettes
(1.). The attempt to delete a palette still leads to crash as described in
previous comment, see backtrace.

Yes, and I have to relate myself a bit. As this feature request is candidate
for a GSoC project, it's better to not put too much experimental ideas in here.
Forget about my generator rendered widgets for now. Such exploration still can
be done later, maybe together with bug 358061. Implementing an UI similar to
existing inline notes will be good for a start. There we use
QInputDialog::getMultiLineText for initial input, AnnotWindow for editing, and
let the generator render the annotation along with the page (which avoids
visual inconsistencies too).

I tried to come forward with a fix for this bug. Please have a look at branch

There is a new family of validation functions which, at various places, check
user input before accepting it for further processing. This checking works
mostly ok, except for when having the Element Editor is used as a docklet
instead of a modal window and "Automatic apply changes" is enabled. If I would
enable validation here, the user would get error messages for every keystroke
as long as the current edit is not valid.

So, please test this experimental branch and let me know if it solves your
problem.

No idea about Fedora packaging, but

  #16 0x7f1ff49a4ebc in PushDialog::PushDialog(QWidget*) () from
/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/fileviewgitplugin.so

means that this plugin (which should be part of dolphin-plugins) doesn't have
debug symbols available.

This issue was discovered during Kubuntu 18.04 beta testing, and I as well as
several others were all able to reproduce it.


Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Kubuntu 18.04 beta or nightly, or boot into a live session
(http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily-live/current/)
2. Open System Settings
3. make the window wide such that the subcategory list will be visible
4. Click on Workspace Theme
4. Then click on Application Style

The first item in the subcategory list has no selection color and no text
color. It appears invisible save for the icon. You can still navigate there, it
just doesn't look like it.

Reproducibility:
- Unable to reproduce in Kubuntu 17.10 with Plasma 5.12.4 from the Kubuntu
backports PPA
- Reproduces for other subcategory lists, too. The first one you click on looks
fine, then any subsequent ones exhibit the bug.
- The colors return if you click on a main category list bold header.
- Reproduces with all look-and-feel packages shipped on the live ISO (Breeze,
Breeze Dark, and Kubuntu).
- Reproduces with all color schemes.

It's a fairly obvious one. 

Current behavior: When you minimize a window only an the application icon is
shown. 

Wished behavior:

either: Wake the window up as if it was focused as long as the preview is
shown.

This affects me on Arch Linux. 

On my sytem `cat /proc/cpuinfo` lists 40 processors. The system has two
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2630 v4 @ 2.20GHz with 10 cores each.

The bug had been fixed in 16.12.1, it was failing with certain locales only =>
if you are stuck to 16.08, either try our up-to-date appimages, or change you
locale setting...
