I can not reproduce the problem here in 2 virtual machines running Windows7 /

software running? Temporarily disable and test possible? Here is just one
example that anti-virus software has contributed to a crash:

KDE neon developer unstable should work, but it will depend on when the new
nightly builds are done.

I've since confirmed the bug (it was only by accident that it was always
sorting right for me) and I think I've fixed it in the meantime. So thanks for
the report, but let me know if it doesn't work for you or if the fix causes

So, I tested it a bit more after a clean boot and it happens more often if I
delay the "d" key press after "k" (spend enough time for the "k" search results

documents in the menu and it looks like that avoids the problem.

I think we can all thanks David Edmunson to remind us how important it is for
the end users not to disturb too much developers, since they are clearly so
devoted to fix this issue in particular.

So please, agree with David Edmunson to let the developers talk about how to
fix this important issue, that they cared so much about between 2004 and 201..
2019, even though this issue does not exists on any other desktop.

We should not bother them with stupid ideas as to set a bounty for it or fund
development. If we pay attention what a good guy like David says, they clearly
do not care of it. And this guy must matter since his statement about how
happily KDE trashed massive amount of (working features) code to replace them
by some-init-that-replace-all was an omen.

Thanks to keep all the good work. I hope the conduct of conduct allows me to
tell that KDE 1 was an improvement over Windows 98/NT 4.0. while KDE current is
much less usable than Windows 10 as desktop (but even 7/8...). But who cares
about the feeling of KDE 1 users, eh!?

Please accept our apologies, we should never have suggested to sponsor any
development.

[ksysguard] [Bug 402445] New: KSysGuard bogus network speed

2018-12-21 Thread S
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402445

Bug ID: 402445
   Summary: KSysGuard bogus network speed
   Product: ksysguard
   Version: 5.14.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: ksysguard
  Assignee: ksysguard-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: sb56...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 117050
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=117050=edit
Oh how I wish these speeds were real...

Hi there, I'm running openSUSE Leap 15.0 with add-on KDE / Plasma / Qt
repositories. So I have Plasma 5.14.4, KDE Frameworks 5.53.0, and
Qt 5.12.0 (built against 5.12.0).

KSysGuard is showing completely bogus network speeds in the range of many
GB/sec. The actual speed reaches 1MB/sec at most.

Thanks.

Even if we did, (which would be a waay bigger project than what's proposed
here) they don't have a 1:1 mapping with regards to spawning/teardown - it'd
need every client app to change which isn't do-able in the 5.x series.

Lets keep things on topic and not hide the dev comments.

[krita] [Bug 402443] New: Enlarging a canvas paint added sections instead of keeping them transparent

2018-12-21 Thread SkyDiver
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402443

Bug ID: 402443
Summary: Enlarging a canvas paint added sections instead of
keeping them transparent
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.1.5
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Resize/Scale Image/Layer
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: skydive...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

My original scenario started with opening a .jpg image, but it's enough to
create a new document for reproducing the issue.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Krita and create a new document (should have a white background)
2. Draw a black circle at the middle of the document
3. Select the Contiguous Selection Tool > fuzziness = 1
4. Click outside the circle to select all the outer white material
5. Press DEL to make the white area transparent
6. Image > Resize Canvas: enlarge width/height/both (e.g. by 50%)

OBSERVED RESULT
The enlarged space is painted white.

EXPECTED RESULT
The enlarged space should be transparent.

NOTES
1. Saving the document as a .kra file, relaunching and retesting preserves the
problem.
2. Duplicating the layer (CTRL+J) preserves the problem.
3. It seems that the layer "remembers" that it's some sort of a "background
layer" thus painting new area instead of keeping them white.
4. The following workaround fixes the problem
4.1. Make sure the layer is selected
4.2. Select > Select All
4.3. Edit > Paste
4.4. Remove/hide the old layer
4.5. Enlarge the canvas.
4.6. The enlarges space remains transparent.

this is intentional and even further all applets currently in Latte will be
published in kde store and removed totally from Latte codepage.

The goal is Latte to provide only the dock/panels functionality and anything

[kiofuse] [Bug 75324] Integrate KIO Slaves into file system using FUSE gateway

2018-12-21 Thread Alexander Schlarb
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75324

Is there any reason by KDE really needs it's own remote vfs abstraction system
and cannot use GIO/GVFS instead as suggested in comment #6? (There is even some
code to start off for inspiration from even if its like 10 years old.)

Some selling points GVFS/GIO has over KIO (mostly subjective, but meh):

  * Already has the mentioned FUSE layer
  * Used and maintained outside the KDE community
  * Copying many small files (locally!) is a lot faster
 - (Although it's still insanely slower than good old `cp A B`.)
  * Finally having a standard would probably make a lot more external devs
happy to add native support for this (I don't think that standard could be KIO,
since it's so KDE/Qt/C++-centric while GIO basically only requires GLib)
  * (Doesn't crash on MTP [might just happen to be an issue with all mobile
devices I ever owned, but it never happens when using GIO instead].)

I'm honestly interested in the devs opinions here since: There may well be
something obvious I'm not seeing.

Bug ID: 402441

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR

  Target Milestone: 1.0

Currently, the desktop context menu and the Desktop Toolbox have almost the
same items.

As far as I am aware of, both menus serve the same purpose. So, I suggest to
keep the contents of those two menus in sync (or replace the Desktop Toolbox
menu with the menu from the context menu which also shows keyboard shortcuts).

In an attempt to check there's no bug our side with the common plasma crash in
kickoff I attached QAbstractItemModelTester to our model.

Unpredictably (one in every few launches) I do get a model error:

2018-12-21 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402433

Bug ID: 402433
Summary: Google Maps Doesn't Zoom With Mouse Wheel
   Product: digikam
   Version: 6.0.0
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor

SUMMARY
When Google Maps is selected in Map side menu or in Geo Editor, it doesn't zoom
like Marble Virtual Globe does.

Google Maps zooms with mouse wheel in a browser so in principle this should be
able to work.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Ctrl + Shft + G
2. Select Google Maps instead of Marble Virtual Globe
3. Roll mouse wheel over the map.

OBSERVED RESULT
Map doesn't zoom.

EXPECTED RESULT
Google Maps to zoom like Marble Virtual Globe.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 10 64bit.

[kdesrc-build] [Bug 402428] Try to install non-KDE build dependencies automatically

2018-12-21 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402428

Indeed. Probably we would need to store a mapping of KDE software name to
distro package name, and it would need to be maintained as distros irritatingly
change their package names.

However I suspect that such a mapping would be less prone to becoming wrong
over time compared to the current approach of maintaining lists of all distro
package dependency names at
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Build_from_source/Install_the_dependencies.

[plasmashell] [Bug 402423] Search does not work at times

2018-12-21 Thread Filip F .
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402423

Yeah, I wish I could figure out what causes it. If I keep mashing Meta and then
start typing something, that doesn't seem to be triggering it at all.

For the time being I've reproduced it with plasmashell running in the terminal.
There was no output, just the ordinary:
"org.kde.plasmaquick: Applet "Application Launcher" loaded after 0 msec
"org.kde.plasmaquick: Increasing score for "Application Launcher" to 100"

I'll try to set up gammaray and get the info, I haven't used it before. I've
realized this is still of importance for LTS releases even if it may have been
somehow inadvertently fixed in 5.15 so I'll focus on gammaray instead of
testing with git Kickoff.

Thanks for the info

I thought Debian testing was a "couple of weeks" behind upstream, but after
more than a month I'm still stuck on 18 :(

I'll see if I can add Neptune to apt's sources.list to upgrade myself...

[kwin] [Bug 399836] kwin crash on changing virtual desktop

2018-12-21 Thread Stamatis Kavvadias
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399836

I found that kwin_x11 symbols are included in the kwin package.

I followed the instructions in the page you mention, using gdb from a remote
ssh terminal (from my laptop to the desktop). I tried twice to get the
backtrace via gdb. The first time there was a kwin process running and no
kwin_x11 and the next time the other way round. There has been an update of
kwin and plasma packages in-between, but both times gdb cannot provide a
backtrace. The first time I was not sure what happened; I provide the output of
the second try, bellow.

As you will see, it appears kwin_x11 exits normally(!!!) and I cannot get a
backtrace. Here is the output of the command used, i.e.

gdb --pid `pidof kwin_x11` 2>&1 | tee kwin_x11.gdb

[kdesrc-build] [Bug 402428] Try to install non-KDE build dependencies automatically

2018-12-21 Thread Christoph Feck
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402428

The problem is that the name of the packages to install is not unified across
distributions. How should kdesrc-build know if the package is named
'libqca5-dev', 'libqca-devel', 'qca5-devel', 'libqca-qt5-devel', etc.?

fix drawing box chars, avoid storing and saving state all the time

Summary:
to get the box chars to be drawn correctly we need to turn on high
quality antialiasing in qpainter. in addition only turn it on if
antialiasing is enabled.

lastly qpainter.save()/restore() is called very often, so try to avoid
that if it isn't necessary.

Test Plan:
`cat tests/boxes.txt`

  Platform: Other
OS: MS Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org

If you undo several strokes and then paint afterwards there is lag in the first
stroke.

This maybe happens because the redo stack is dumped?

not a regression, this happens in older krita's too

And it should do this for all of the KDE dependencies too, so that all of them
will be able to compile successfully.

[kdesrc-build] [Bug 402428] New: Try to install non-KDE build dependencies automatically

2018-12-21 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402428

Bug ID: 402428
Summary: Try to install non-KDE build dependencies
automatically
   Product: kdesrc-build
   Version: Git
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: project metadata
  Assignee: mp...@kde.org
  Reporter: n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Now that we're strongly recommending the use of kdesrc-build in our official
documentation, one thing that's coming up more and more is problems getting
non-KDE dependencies installed.

It might be nice if kdesrc-build could do a best-effort attempt to install
needed non-KDE dependencies using the distro's package manager. It would
basically do the equivalent of `dnf builddep` (Fedora), `zypper si -d`
(openSUSE) or `apt build-dep` (Ubuntu), but omitting the KDE dependencies if
possible. If not, that's not a huge deal since kdesrc-build will just compile
them anyway.

Sorry for delay.
For the cursor, can you run gcompris-qt, with the command-line option 'c' ?
(./bin/gcompris-qt -c).
It should fallback to default cursor and not have a flickering one.

[flatpak-platform-plugin] [Bug 402425] New: kde.Platform has no libyaml but kde.Sdk has it

2018-12-21 Thread Andrey
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402425

Bug ID: 402425
Summary: kde.Platform has no libyaml but kde.Sdk has it
   Product: flatpak-platform-plugin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Flatpak
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: jgrul...@redhat.com
  Reporter: butir...@gmail.com
CC: aleix...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Platform has no libyaml:
$ flatpak run --command=sh --runtime=org.kde.Platform/x86_64/5.11
org.kde.discover
~$ ls /usr/lib/libyaml*
ls: cannot access '/usr/lib/libyaml*': No such file or directory

Sdk has it:
$ flatpak run --command=sh --runtime=org.kde.Sdk/x86_64/5.11 org.kde.discover
~$ ls /usr/lib/libyaml*
/usr/lib/libyaml-0.so.2 /usr/lib/libyaml-0.so.2.0.5 /usr/lib/libyaml.so

This creates confusion for debugging the apps, since it can work on debugging
stage when running from build-dir directly:

$ flatpak-builder --run build-dir org.kde.discover.json plasma-discover

, but the same app will not work after install:

$ flatpak-builder --force-clean --install build-dir org.kde.discover.json
$ flatpak run org.kde.discover
org.kde.plasma.libdiscover: error loading "flatpak-backend" "Cannot load
library /app/lib/plugins/discover/flatpak-backend.so: (libyaml-0.so.2: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory)"
Segmentation fault

So, maybe we should add libyaml to the Platform or remove it from the SDK.

[krita] [Bug 402339] The profile combobox for the mpeg-4 and matroska render animation settings does not expand

2018-12-21 Thread Boudewijn Rempt
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402339

The file menu doesn't disappear if you make Krita full-screen -- that only
happens in canvas-only mode. A screenshot of the entire display, not just
Krita, would be helpful.

[latte-dock] [Bug 402419] Suggestion: integrate plasma-applet-window-button in Latte Dock...

Created attachment 117047
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=117047=edit
a thought

Perhaps something like this would be logical. When you click on the black
flower (or whatever it may be) - attached image - the configuration window of
plasma applet window button could open.
