[plasmashell] [Bug 409439] plasma crashs on start every time
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409439 --- Comment #1 from Markus Rathgeb --- While reading the stacktrace myself and realized the last method "JobModel::updateJob(int, KCupsJob const&)" I opened "127.0.0.1:631" the CUPS webpage. I cancelled all remaining print jobs. After that the plasmashell seems to work again. For me the problem is now resolved, but the potential error still exists in the code base. I don't think the state of the printers should be able to crash the whole plasmashell and stops them from working... Do you agree that we should keep that bug report open until the cause is really solved? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 409427] Folder View widget can not drop files into folders on default settings
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409427 --- Comment #2 from Alan Dacey Sr. --- There are no settings in the folder view widget that effect this behavior. So in search of trying to find a solution I thought that maybe some code is shared between the widget and dolphin. Seems I may be correct that changing how dolphin works fixes the problem in some bit of shared code. Perhaps my initial report is a case of too much information. Feel free to ignore all dolphin parts of this. The ability to drop files into folders in the widget is still broken with the default settings. That's not changed and also why I submitted this bug report. If you need anything else just let me know. --Thanks -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Thanks for the polish and wiring up the other arches. I haven't been able to test them all. But the nightly builders will catch any issues. Pushed to valgrind git master as: commit b0861063a8d2a55bb7423e90d26806bab0f78a12 (HEAD -> master, origin/master, origin/HEAD) Author: Alexandra Hájková Date: Tue Jun 4 13:47:14 2019 +0200 Add support for preadv2 and pwritev2 syscalls Support for amd64, x86 - 64 and 32 bit, arm64, ppc64, ppc64le, s390x, mips64. This should work identically on all arches, tested on x86 32bit and 64bit one, but enabled on all. Refactor the code to be reusable between old/new syscalls. Resolve TODO items in the code. Add the testcase for the preadv2/pwritev2 and also add the (similar) testcase for the older preadv/pwritev syscalls. Trying to test handling an uninitialized flag argument for the v2 syscalls does not work because the flag always comes out as defined zero. Turns out glibc does this deliberately on 64bit architectures because the kernel does actually have a low_offset and high_offset argument, but ignores the high_offset/assumes it is zero. https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=601cc11d054ae4b5e9b5babec3d8e4667a2cb9b5 https://bugs.kde.org/408414 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Since some time, I think since I upgraded my distro to OpenSUSE 15.0 it works only very rarely. I have to plug it in and out and in again, and sometimes it does scan. Otherwise it moves a bit, and afterwards it only produces black images without actually doing anything. Using "SimpleScan" it works a bit more often than using Skanlite, but also only sporadically. I tried the commercial VueScan application, and using this scanning works. I know this is probably not Skanlite's fault, but I have no idea in which part of the software stack I have to start searching the problem. Since it worked earlier, I'd hope I could figure out what changes made it not work anymore. Can you give me some pointers ? [kwin] [Bug 371877] key combos not being properly passed into keyboard-captured apps
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=371877 --- Comment #21 from Kurt Kremitzki --- This issue is one of the only major usability problems I have with KDE, so I thought I might chime in. I see this issue when using virt-manager, the libvirt GUI tool, and synergy, a software keyboard & mouse switch. In virt-manager, if I create, run, and log into a KDE VM, my keypresses get captured by the VM as expected. However, if I hit Meta, the Application Launcher opens on both the host machine and the VM. If I hit Alt+F1, only the Application Launcher in the VM opens, as expected. The same thing happens in Synergy. If I am running a Synergy server on one KDE machine, and then run a Synergy client on another KDE machine, I can set it up so that moving my mouse to the side of one screen makes the cursor show up on the other machine's desktop, at which point my mouse and keyboard control gets passed to the Synergy client as expected. However, hitting Meta opens the Application Launcher on both the host and client, unexpectedly. Hitting Alt+F1 behaves correctly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[krita] [Bug 409373] Krita crashes when Background and Layer 1 are present in Timeline box at the same time
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409373 --- Comment #3 from Ahab Greybeard --- [I've just realised that you probably have krita settings that give you only one layer (Background) on startup so that is why you create a new layer to give you Layer 1. My arrangement is different and I should have thought of that. When you make a Blank Frame, you do make a keyframe but many people don't know what a 'keyframe' is so 'Blank Frame' is easier to understand] If you're not animating the Background layer (it's not a good idea to animate the background layer) then there is no reason to have it in the Timeline. Are you saying that the presence of the Background layer in the Timeline is a factor that contributes to the crash? I think that onion skins are a distraction in this situation so please turn them off to simplify the situation. When you create a new layer, it should become the active/selected layer, as indicated by being highlighted in the Layers docker and showing in the Timeline. The active layer should always be shown in the Timeline so I'm puzzled as to why you have to manually add Layer 1 to the Timeline. When you create Layer 1, is is the active/selected layer as shown by being highlighted in the Layers docker? When you draw in a new blank frame on Layer 1, do you use the 'normal' Freehand Brush tool or some other tool? Were you able to create animated layers in krita 4.1.7 and/or krita 4.2.0? Can you take a full .png screenshot showing the Layers docker and the Timeline docker and attach it to a comment? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[krita] [Bug 408421] Safe Assert when copy/pasting animated frames between different open file timelines
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=408421 --- Comment #5 from vanyossi --- Im working on a fix for this one. Right now on my patch/fix in progress it is now possible to copy frames from one image to another image. Im curently testing I did not break anything. In 4.2.2 I can't copy paste from the timeline using keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V, the events are not passing trough or ignored (I'll fix this one after). however I still get the safe assert when copying between images if using the context menu. Probably running krita from terminal will show you the assert. Also afaik, Clipboard contents are global on an OS level, and gets rewritten on any copy operation. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409431 Bug ID: 409431 Summary: Tablet cursor snaps to canvas border after moving layer with tablet Product: krita Version: 4.2.2 Platform: Debian stable OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: tablet support Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: yn...@hotmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When moving a layer, the cursor doesn't follow position on the canvas. (Only with the tablet, the mouse cursor behaves fine.) STEPS TO REPRODUCE 0. Do all this with the tablet, don't use the mouse. 1. Create a new document. 2. In the layer docker, create a new layer. 3. Move this new layer to another position. 4. Try to draw on the canvas. OBSERVED RESULT The cursor movement stops at the border of the canvas or sometimes the border of the scroll area of the canvas. [valgrind] [Bug 409429] New: False positives at unexpected location due to failure to recognize cmpeq as a dependency breaking idiom
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409429 Bug ID: 409429 Summary: False positives at unexpected location due to failure to recognize cmpeq as a dependency breaking idiom Product: valgrind Version: 3.11.0 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: memcheck Assignee: jsew...@acm.org Reporter: travis.do...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- Consider the following reproduction case: #include __attribute__((noinline)) int gather(const int *array, void *p, void *p2) { __m256i ret = _mm256_i32gather_epi32((const int*)array, _mm256_setzero_si256(), 4); return ret[0]; } struct bunch_of_chars { char stuff[128]; }; int main() { int* array = new int[8]{}; bunch_of_chars x, y = x; return gather(array, &x, &y); } Here, some copying of uninitialized value happens at y = x. Neither x nor y are used, so this doesn't usually trigger a warning in Valgrind (and indeed such copying of uninitalized values w/o using them is common so avoiding a false positive here is important). Then, however, we call gather() function, only only operates on zero-initialized array using a gather instruction. We only pass pointers to x and y to avoid the compiler optimizing them away completely (you could do it in other ways too, e.g., assigning them to volatile: in the real example this was derived from some parts of x and y were later used). We get a valgrind failure as follows: ==13033== Memcheck, a memory error detector ==13033== Copyright (C) 2002-2015, and GNU GPL'd, by Julian Seward et al. ==13033== Using Valgrind-3.11.0 and LibVEX; rerun with -h for copyright info ==13033== Command: ./bench ==13033== ==13033== Use of uninitialised value of size 8 ==13033==at 0x400718: _mm256_i32gather_epi32 (avx2intrin.h:1598) ==13033==by 0x400718: gather(int const*, void*, void*) (main.cpp:6) ==13033==by 0x400608: main (in /home/tdowns/dev/sorted-intersections/bench) Here's the assembly for gather function: 00400710 : 400710: vpxor xmm1,xmm1,xmm1 400714: vpcmpeqd ymm2,ymm2,ymm2 400718: vpgatherdd ymm0,DWORD PTR [rdi+ymm1*4],ymm2 40071e: vmovq rax,xmm0 400723: vzeroupper 400726: ret 400727: nopWORD PTR [rax+rax*1+0x0] Here's an excerpt of the assembly leading up to the main function: 40057f: vmovdqa xmm0,XMMWORD PTR [rsp] 400584: vmovdqa xmm1,XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0x10] 40058a: movrsi, rsp 40058d: leardx,[rsp+0x80] 400595: vmovdqa xmm2,XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0x20] 40059b: vmovdqa xmm3,XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0x30] 4005a1: movrdi, rax 4005a4: vmovdqa xmm4,XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0x40] 4005aa: vmovdqa xmm5,XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0x50] 4005b0: vmovaps XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0x80],xmm0 4005b9: vmovdqa xmm6,XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0x60] 4005bf: vmovdqa xmm7,XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0x70] 4005c5: vmovaps XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0x90],xmm1 4005ce: vmovaps XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0xa0],xmm2 4005d7: vmovaps XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0xb0],xmm3 4005e0: vmovaps XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0xc0],xmm4 4005e9: vmovaps XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0xd0],xmm5 4005f2: vmovaps XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0xe0],xmm6 4005fb: vmovaps XMMWORD PTR [rsp+0xf0],xmm7 400604: call 400710 We can see the uninitialized copy happening (all the movaps calls). Note that at this point, the xmm2 register is "tainted" since it contains uninitialized value. This is what triggers the false positive: the vgatherdd instruction uses ymm2 as input (the mask register). However, ymm2 was already set to "all ones" by the earlier 'vpcmpeqd ymm2,ymm2,ymm2' instruction, so its value is no longer tainted and has no relationship to the earlier xmm2 value. You can show that ymm2 is causing the problem by using inline assembly to insert a clearing at the start of gather: asm volatile ("vpxor %xmm2, %xmm2, %xmm2"); This has no effect on the logic, but now Valgrind is happy. Valgrind should understand vpcmpeq* with the same register for both inputs as independent of the previous value as this is common. This issue is very hard to track down because the false positive occurs at an unrelated place, potentially very far away from the original source since the xmm registers may go a long time w/o being used. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux: Ubuntu 16.04 Valgrind: 3.11 g++: 8.1.0 compiled with: g++-8 -DNDEBUG -Wall -Wextra -O2 -g -march=haswell -Wno-unused-parameter -Wno-error=unused-variable -Wno-unknown-pragmas -std=c++14 -c -o main.o main.cpp although really it's -O2 that matters (so you get the vmovaps-based copy in main. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

When you choose the folder, there are no IMAP or Online account folders to choose from; it forces you to choose a default local folder. Ideally, the expected behavior is what you're describing. When I take my backed up compressed file to another computer and import the data, it asks me to specify the folder. That is not "seamless". My expectation would be that it imports everything just as I had it, without needing to specify new folders for the email locations. [systemsettings] [Bug 396942] Icon view: Left sidebar "jumps" when moving from workspace behavior KCM to other KCMs
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396942 --- Comment #15 from Michał Dybczak --- I can confirm that the margin still (after all that time) jumps choosing different options, after all that time. The whole GUI is super inconsistent from option to option. Some have a different background, some have frames, frames are misaligned, etc. This all needs some common design UX. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
