No, I use extra-x86_64-build command from extra/devtools package, which makes a
clean chroot environment every time to build the package. It is documented here
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/DeveloperWiki:Building_in_a_clean_chroot#Convenience_way
and used by Arch Linux packagers for official packages.

I can reproduce this both on my own desktop PC as well as a build server

My previous comment about valgrind + thunderbird running fine as superuser
under Debian GNU/Linux may be a bit premature:
The test certainly ran some tests, but after printing the log below, valgrind
seems to get stuck. There was no CPU activity...

The pseudo desktop (Xephyr) has a greyed screen all over. So I am not sure
whether it is the bug of valgrind+thunderbird, or some issues related to timing
of Xephyr server (X11 protocol packet exchange and there could be some implicit
assumption about the timing satisfied without explicit lock, etc. on the client
side, i.e. TB.)
The valgrind+TB got stuck while executing the test:

[valgrind] [Bug 405295] valgrind 3.14.0 dies due to mysterious DWARF information? (output from rust used by Mozilla TB.)

2019-09-04 Thread zephyrus00jp
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=405295

A very mysterious things happened.

I could not run valgrind against locally created Thunderbird mail client binary
for quite some time under Debian.

A few years ago, this happened on stock GNU Debian/Linux kernel 3.1x.y series,
and I found that older kernel 3.9 or something like that helped.
Yes, it was kernel dependent. Ugh...
I kept that kernel around for quite some time, but other developement tools and
4K display needed a newer kernel and so I ditched that kernel.

I could not run valgrind+thunderbird combination for a couple of years now.

Today, I tried to see if increasing the user space stack are might help.
ulimit -a showed my stack size was about 13MB big, but I increased it to 16GiB
by
ulimit -s 16000.
Still no luck. valgrind died due to mysterious segmentation error that is not
even reported back to the gdb remote session when I used vgdb feature of
valgrind. (This mysterious nature of the crash reported as "Segmentation Error"
when I tried to run thunderbird under valgrind really puzzled me to no end
since it started to appear a few years ago.)

Anyway, I tried to tweak ulimit for stack size further. Then somehow the
command refused. It seemed that I could not get to set it larger than 16000.
I could reset it to something smaller like 15000.

So I tried to invoke "su" and try running thunderbird+valgrind. Then
thunderbird binary refused to run stating something to the effect of "TB does
not run as superuser in normal user session": presumably due to security
reasons.

SO I QUIT my ordinary login, and then LOGGED IN AS ROOT USER/

S U R P R I S E ( ! ! ! )

thunderbird runs under valgrind when I ran it as logged in superuser (root) !?

So it seems to me that
- "Segmentation Error" is caused by some kind of security mechansim (superuser
vs ordinary user restriction)?

Anyway, I am about to run the whole |make mozmill| test suite of thunderbird
under valgrind again. Yes, it is a bit risky to run this test under root, but
I have saved patch and others into a different linux image, and so I think I
can recover even if there is some serious bug in thunderbird...

The security mechanism Debian my have are
- APP ARMOR
- SELinux
- etc.

But when I looked under /var/log to see if there are any relevant messages
about the security mechanism kicked into abort valgrind+thunderbird, I have
found nothing so far.

Just a short message that thunderbird under valgrind runs as logged in
superuser, but not as normal user under the latest Debian GNU/Linux kernel.
This is the output from uname on the PC.
Linux ip030 4.19.0-5-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.37-6 (2019-07-18) x86_64
GNU/Linux

(Actually it runs inside VirtualBox.)

I already see a few disturbing memory error messages from the first couple of
minutes run. I hope I can find a slew of unreported errors.

So this is not the most helpful report, but at least now I know how to run
thunderbird under valgrind...

TIA

2019-09-04 Thread leftcrane
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411599

Bug ID: 411599
Summary: Open/Save dialog is much too small.
   Product: frameworks-kio
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Kubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Open/save dialogs
  Assignee: fa...@kde.org
  Reporter: leftcr...@tutanota.com
CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

The dialog is way too small by default. At minimal zoom, it displays only about
a dozen items in a directory and there isn't enough space to display all the
details for items, since two-thirds of the dialog width is taken up by the
bookmarks and preview sidebars.

I think the bigger GTK open/save dialogs are much more adequately sized, plus
they use less space thanks to CSD ... well, that and the fact that their
preview sidebar usually doesn't work for most files.

I have the KDE dialogs set to 900*700 via regex window rules.

Bug ID: 411598
Summary: Quietly sync existing notifications when phone
connects
   Product: kdeconnect
   Version: 1.3.5
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: plasmoid
  Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: benjamindai...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
currently when a phone connects with existing notifications, kdeconnect spams
them all for a good few minutes if there are a good amount of notifications.
This also causes a system slowdown. Kdeconnect should add all existing
notifications quietly to the panel without creating a popup for each one. Only
new notifications are required to pop up on the screen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set up kdeconnect and have uncleared notifications on the phone
2. put system to sleep
3. wake up system
4. observe the horror

Thanks.

Hello, I don't know how to send you the output. But it only happens when I
try to add Spanish from Spain to the languages from regional settings
section. I've tried American English and Romanian and it doesn't crush. It
only crushes when I add Spanish.
Thank you for your hard work.

[kmymoney] [Bug 390681] OFX import and unrecognized tag

2019-09-04 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=390681

This problem came back. My Citi Visa issued a credit for an old charge and
it moved to the beginning of my OFX file. From that point forward nothing
is matching.

I have the following in ~/.config/kmymoney/ofximporterrc

  [General]
  useOwnFITID=true

Has something changed that stopped the FITID value from being used instead
of the bank supplied FTID? I'm having a matching problem in another account
that may also be related.

It feels like the code reverted to using the bank supplied FITID value.

I'm running KMM compiled very recently from the master branch.

As I understand from the code it should build and install translations.

Note that I suspect that will fail later as _expandl10nModules explicitly

[kded-appmenu] [Bug 411593] New: wxgtk3 apps don't have global menus

2019-09-04 Thread Michał Dybczak
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411593

Bug ID: 411593
Summary: wxgtk3 apps don't have global menus
   Product: kded-appmenu
   Version: 5.16.4
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: top menubar
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: michal.dybc...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

wxgtk3 apps don't have global menus. However, the old entry in the Kai Uwe's
Blog (posted a link below) suggests this should work, so I assume there had to
be some bug introduced along the way. I don't use wxgtk3 apps myself so I can't
say when this regression happened.

https://blog.broulik.de/2018/03/gtk-global-menu/screenshot_20180301_152952/

You can check this out in such wxgtk3 apps as aegisub or audacity.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install any wxgtk3 app
2. Launch wxgtk3 app (audacity for example)

OBSERVED RESULT

No global menus.

EXPECTED RESULT

Global menus should be exported to the top panel as with other apps.

Méven Car changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||meve...@gmail.com
 Status|REPORTED|CONFIRMED
 Ever confirmed|0 |1

There are two issues causing the bug, I believe :

What Christopher said, we can see the 5 seconds futex timeout :

14498 13:05:27.346112 futex(0x55638e72d680, FUTEX_WAIT_PRIVATE, 0, {tv_sec=4,
tv_nsec=98802}
14499 13:05:27.346137 poll([{fd=3, events=POLLIN}], 1, -1
14498 13:05:32.346393 <... futex resumed> ) = -1 ETIMEDOUT (Connection timed
out) <5.000231>
14498 13:05:32.34 futex(0x55638e72d630, FUTEX_WAKE_PRIVATE, 1) = 0
<0.97>

The futex lock seems to be in ki18n loading, because prior to this mutex loop
invocation we have :
14498 13:05:27.341563 statx(AT_FDCWD,
"/usr/share/locale/en/LC_SCRIPTS/kio5/kio5.js", AT_STATX_SYNC_AS_STAT,
STATX_ALL, 0x7ffcb000c4d0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) <0.12>

That is clearly originating from klocalizedstring.cpp and this file deels with
QMutex.

The lines :

4498 13:05:35.209272 read(10,
"\2\0\0\0\2\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\20\0\0\0log1.txt\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0", 32) = 32
<0.08>
14498 13:05:35.209317 poll([{fd=5, events=POLLIN}, {fd=6, events=POLLIN},
{fd=10, events=POLLIN}, {fd=11, events=POLLIN}, {fd=12, events=POLLPRI},
{fd=13, events=POLLIN}, {fd=19, events=POLLIN}, {fd=20, events=POLLIN}, {fd=21,
events=POLLIN}, {fd=22, events=POLLIN}], 10, 104) = 1 ([{fd=10,
revents=POLLIN}]) <0.09>
14498 13:05:35.209395 ioctl(10, FIONREAD, [32]) = 0 <0.07>

Could be due to mimetype determination or metadata gathering going wrong,
reading a whole file when it fails or errors.
I haven't yet investigated into it as much as the first issue.

I reproduce at least one of the two issues, but I don't know which one yet.

[krita] [Bug 389544] File layer only updates the first instance on save

2019-09-04 Thread wolthera
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389544

Git commit ff338de7354fc170645af1a435267d1024546654 by Wolthera van Hövell tot
Westerflier.
Committed on 04/09/2019 at 16:02.
Pushed by woltherav into branch 'master'.

Possibly fix File Layer loading and comics manager page updating on windows.

Windows has a pretty slow file system, which means when we check whether
our updated file exists, windows hasn't gotten to renaming it yet, making
Krita think there's no file at all...

So this puts a little bit of a delay in our two checks of whether the file
still
exists and needs to be readded to the filesystemwatcher again.

This currently works as expected on Linux, now we need to test if it works
on Windows.

This currently works as expected on Linux, now we need to test if it works
on Windows.

The cause is a race condition. The window was terminated with [X], but the
import continues. If you try to start the plugin again, but there is no longer
a window that we can reactivate, the plugin will be deleted and recreated.
Although we cancel the transfer, there is still a QNetworkReply on the way and
triggers the crash in the already deleted main window. I fix it.

This screenshot uses a modified version of Breeze

antialiasing on the hover effect outline is a separate issue that seems to only
happen in Dolphin.

Tried it on macOS 10.14.6 with krita 4.2.5 and krita master to no avail using
the new layer menu (the plus sign in the docker). After the steps described I
could paint as normal. However dragging and dropping the layer leads to the
lock up.

WORKAROUND: select another window (your browser, finder, etc) and go back to
Krita. Painting should be restored

2019-09-04 Thread Noah Davis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411592

Bug ID: 411592
Summary: Selection highlight height does not match item height
   Product: dolphin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org

  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 122485
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=122485=edit
Overlapping highlight at 3x scaling

SUMMARY
The height of selection highlights in the places panel and view-engine do not
match the height of the selected items. This causes visual glitches where the
bottom of a highlight is cut off or overlaps with the item below it. At 96
DPI/1x scaling, the height appears to be 1 pixel too large.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select an item in the places panel or view-engine

OBSERVED RESULT
The highlight is too tall

EXPECTED RESULT
The highlight should be exactly the same height as the item

Under the Reply and Forward buttons on the toolbar there are a few ways to do
it. You need to hold-click to activate one of those alternative modes. Would it
be possible to change the default mode, activated by single clicking? For
instance, I'd like to have the reply-to-all mode to be the default, as well as
forward-inline.

SUMMARY
While using git-svn to clone a repository I get the following message after the
initial "git svn clone" and subsequent "git svn fetch" commands:
org.kde.kwindowsystem: Could not find any platform plugin
error: git-svn died of signal 11

The backtrace:

If I use docker (e.g. ubuntu 18.04) and perform git operations on the same repo
folder the commands work fine, so it might be some integration with system
wallet/password manager.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Clone svn repo with subversion
2. Clone same repo with git-svn

The combobox is definitely drawn to small in your before screenshots. The
minimum width is set to 160 pixels in the code. In your screenshot I measured
the width as
116 pixels. I see from your links these are Kvantum themes. Since the minimum
width is respected for example by Breeze and Oxygen I suspect this is an issue
with Kvantum and/or these themes and will close this as a downstream issue.

DigiKam crashed immediately.

The "this" pointer in the top few functions in the backtrace looks suspect, a
stale or otherwise non-initialised member variable?

[kdiff3] [Bug 411586] New: Segfault in OptionDialog::slotApply().

2019-09-04 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411586

Bug ID: 411586
   Summary: Segfault in OptionDialog::slotApply().
   Product: kdiff3
   Version: 1.8.x
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: reeves...@gmail.com
  Reporter: bugmenot@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I simply compiled kdiff3 from the github repo then run it after running make
install. It just crashes regardless if it is called with arguments or not. I
even tried updating the whole system to see if it could be the cause.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Checkout the github repo at commit a8ff3b1997fb81a2af4c757c8d6e2fc43969519d
2. Compile.
3. make install
3. Run the program.

OBSERVED RESULT
Segmentation fault.

EXPECTED RESULT
The program runs.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
To be honest, I think the commit a8ff3b1997fb81a2af4c757c8d6e2fc43969519d is
the commit that causes this problem since reverting it seem to resolve the
problem.
