[krita] [Bug 412347] New: Show co-ordinates, size angle or relevant information on canvas
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412347 Bug ID: 412347 Summary: Show co-ordinates, size angle or relevant information on canvas Product: krita Version: git master Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: Usability Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: ra...@raghukamath.com Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 122875 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=122875=edit image showing onscreen toll tip of scribus SUMMARY When drawing on canvas with shape tools, or when dragging a guide or in case the user is cropping the image, it would be great to show relevant information on canvas. Similar to how we show zoom level percentages on screen. unlike the case of zoom, the tooltip when drawing should be near the cursor so that user doesn't have to look at other end of canvas. An example of this feature can be seen in scribus 1.5.5, when you draw a shape it shows you height and width of the shape live. When dragging a guide on canvas it shows you the co-ordinates of the guide. This helps the user by preventing him to look at the tool option while drawing. This will also help in canvas only mode. In addition to the shape we can also show the tool tip while shift resizing the brush, it can show the brush size. To summarise: Show on screen co-ordinates or size information while : 1) Drawing shapes 2) Dragging guides 3) Resizing brush 4) Moving layer objects 5) Moving vector objects 6) Moving mirror symmetry line 7) Moving axes of the multibrush tool 8) Using the measurement tool 9) Using Crop tool 10) Any other tool which requires user to look at the tool option for dimensions I have attached a screenshot of the on screen tool tip of scribus -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kcharselect] [Bug 412271] Search field should return results for an emoji
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412271 --- Comment #6 from Brennan Kinney --- > I doubt this is what you were after. Actually, consistency would help at least. The mixed space behaviour was confusing. > Could you clarify how the decision when to start the incremental search could > be improved? How do users tend to make use of the search field? If I want all glyphs related to "q" and I notice I get instant results with some inputs, then as a user, it'd be assumed with no obvious min input requirement, that adding spaces to fill UTF-16 values to a count of 3 is non-obvious. If I want to search a emoji such as "藍", again, copy/paste to the search field has no immediate result. I only found out the added space inputs triggered a result somehow by mistake, later learning order was not important. The minimum requirement doesn't help but make it confusing here for what I'd imagine is a common use-case, to lookup a single character/glyph(not knowing the text name or unicode value(or whatever U+1F923 is)). Getting plenty of results during input isn't an issue, it already shows everything in the current subsection for an empty search field. It's not a realistic performance concern, so as the user types multiple characters into the query, those results will filter regardless? Some indication of minimum input would otherwise be helpful. You mention the user can press "return/enter" key to avoid the spaces, but there is no UI "search" button, just immediate results after the min input is reached, thus as a user it's a less obvious action(beyond assuming enter on a field might do the expected behaviour, but this for me was dispelled as I had seen the immediate results with searching unicode values previously, it just did not occur to me to try). > KCharSelect doesn't implement the Unicode Emoji standard. It only works with > codepoints. Could you detect this like Konsole does? It notices invisible/zero-width codepoints and offers to remove them. Perhaps you could remove FE0F(although valid to search by this value, but not it's "rendered" glyph) and the zwj codepoint, such that the female spy would paste two separate glyphs(you could separate them via a space perhaps?). Alternatively, upon detection, straight-up inform the user that this type of input is not supported by KCharSelect, only single/individual codepoints(and allow the user to figure out what that means). > The word FACE is unfortunately also a hex word. A group of 4 or 5 hex digits > are treated as codepoints. Yes, I understand that. My confusion was why is that result being returned when the other part of the query has "confused" which has nothing to do with the FACE result? For example "1F601 1F923" as a query, will return only the two codepoints specified, the emoji glyph in the middle is omitted. Similarly " 藍" equates to no results. Something is wrong with the query/filtering here, unicode values are kind of treated as "OR" but the emoji glyphs are like "AND" for keywords(as in they won't return a result unless all keywords are relevant". "confused fac" is similar, the emoji glyph itself doesn't appear to have any effect at impacting the results, only by itself as " ". --- SUMMARY It'd be nice if there was some consistency in these behaviours, and if certain inputs are not supported, that they could inform the user. Of interest might be this article: https://hsivonen.fi/string-length/ It points out how various languages handle such input/strings differently and why. Perhaps the mentioned Rust crate could be used to improve the current parsing? (though being another language probably makes that a hard no?) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[valgrind] [Bug 412344] New: Problem setting mips flags with specific paths
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412344 Bug ID: 412344 Summary: Problem setting mips flags with specific paths Product: valgrind Version: 3.15 SVN Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: jsew...@acm.org Reporter: judge.pack...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Hi, We have a bulid environment/CI system where we are cross-compiling valgrind for various architectures. Due to the way the CI system creates it's working directories such as ${os}-${arch} we end up with paths like /workspace/linux-mips64/output which are included as part of the sysroot when cross-compiling. Our configure invocation ends up like this CFLAGS='--sysroot=/workspace/linux-mips64/sysroot -g2 -gz -mabi=64 -O0' \ ./configure --target=mips64-unknown-linux-gnu \ --host=mips64-unknown-linux-gnu \ --build=x86_64-linux-gnu ... This trips up the following grep in configure.ac https://sourceware.org/git/?p=valgrind.git;a=blob;f=configure.ac;hb=HEAD#l1751 It matches the 'linux-mips64' and skips the code that sets FLAG_M32 and FLAG_M64. (inspired by vim) For the described usecase above, you simply press <.><.> and you're done When I tag images, I always have the Preview-View, which doesn't allow me to select a group of images with a mouse click, therefore the keyboard is the only way to efficiently assign the same tag to several pictures. I could select them in the Thumbnail view, but this is often too small for me to decide which tags to assign. About the wish to automatically proceed to the next image after assigning the last tag: if the user wants to do further tagging of the same image, he is most likely not interested anymore in the last used tag for the next image. The main purpose of is to apply one (and only one) particular tag to many images, hence automatically proceeding to the next image makes sense to me. [kwin] [Bug 412342] New: Effects interface: windowDamaged() call sometimes missing on AMD
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412342 Bug ID: 412342 Summary: Effects interface: windowDamaged() call sometimes missing on AMD Product: kwin Version: 5.16.5 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: haagch.christ...@googlemail.com Target Milestone: --- So far it is tested on a Vega 64 on X11 with recent mesa master, and this is where this issue happens for me. On my nvidia machine with Ubuntu 19.04 this issue does not happen. We have an effect plugin (xrdesktop) that makes use of window textures in drawWindow(), and for performance reasons we only want to process textures when the window content is updated, i.e. after a windowDamaged() call for this window. This works fine usually, but sometimes there is a windowDamaged() call missing even though the window renders at 60 fps on a 60 Hz display. STEPS TO REPRODUCE I wrote a minimal effects plugin for testing this: https://github.com/ChristophHaag/kwin-effect-test-damage No dependencies and the plugin is enabled by default, just cmake ..; make; make install The output happens with qDebug(), and the default window it watches for is glxgears, so run GALLIUM_HUD=frametime glxgears and QT_PLUGIN_PATH=/usr/local/lib/plugins/ TEST_DAMAGE_VERBOSE=TRUE kwin_x11 --replace OBSERVED RESULT The plugin prints the durations between windowDamaged() calls for glxgears, and an extra message when there are two drawWindow() calls where no windowDamaged() call happens in between. On my 60 Hz monitor the time between two windowDamaged() calls is usually ~16.67ms, but sometimes one windowDamaged() call is omitted: damaged(): 16.6673 ms since last damage damaged(): 16.6368 ms since last damage damaged(): 16.6442 ms since last damage damaged(): 16.775 ms since last damage drawWindow(): Drawing window "glxgears" without previous damaged event! drawWindow(): 34.7693 ms since last damage damaged(): 35.1921 ms since last damage damaged(): 31.3251 ms since last damage damaged(): 16.5497 ms since last damage damaged(): 17.5127 ms since last damage damaged(): 15.8502 ms since last damage I do believe that this drawWindow() call that had no preceding windowDamaged() call, actually draws a window with updated content, but I have not really dug into this issue yet. [frameworks-kimageformats] [Bug 360821] Gimp 2.10 xcf files cannot be loaded
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360821 --- Comment #44 from maderios --- Hi I posted here a bug report to Gimp Team about Gimp 2.10 XCF support https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/issues/3990 This is a copy: GIMP version: 2.10.12 Operating System: Arch Linux and all others Is the issue reproducible? : Always Hi The facts: at this time, Gimp 2.10 XCF files can be only loaded by Gimp (to be written by another application is not the subject here) Except Gimp 2.10, none application is able to display Gimp 2.10 XCF multi-layers thumbnails. Digikam, Gthumb, Nautilus, Thunar, Pcmanfm, Gwenview, Geeqie, etc, none of them can display XCF thumbnails It has changed since 2.9 version. Before, other graphic applications could display <= 2.8 Gimp version XCF thumbnails. Why this changing behaviour? It's a big problem for users and others apps developers. This issue doesn't come from others softwares developers incompetence. It comes from the fact that Gimp 2.10 code cannot be used inside other graphic softwares. I imagine they could, in an other world, do a kind of "reverse engineering" but that would be a strange thing in a Free Software / Open Source world. Personally, I use Gimp and Digikam. As i explain above, since 2.9 Gimp version, I can't see XCF thumbnails in Digikam. I have to convert Gimp 2.10 XCF files to proprietary Adobe format, .psd, to see them. It may sound strange in the Linux world but, sadly, it's the reality Gimp is an extraordinary, irreplaceable software but, I regret to announce here that Gimp 2.10 XCF format looks like a closed format. On paper, the code is open but, in facts, it is unusable in other projects, just like a closed code. All open source file formats offer a library to handle the data inside. Why not Gimp ? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 412326] Colours of desktop wallpaper is different from same image in Gwenview
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412326 --- Comment #3 from Christoph Feck --- Gwenview does support ICC color correction, Plasma does not. Work on ICC color profile support for QImage will only be added to Qt 5.14, which is not released yet. Until then, I think it doesn't make sense to add color correction into each KDE application or desktop shell separately. Regarding Firefox, I am quite sure it also has support for ICC profiles. Note that Gwenview can be configured for various rendering intents, and it is possible that you selected an option resulting a different image than Firefox, or the color correction in Firefox is disabled. I suggest to keep this open to remind us that Plasma eventually needs to add some QImage property to respect the ICC profile when we can depend on Qt 5.14, which might be for Plasma 5.19 earliest, likely later. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406917 --- Comment #12 from MartinG --- I checked mine today, and mine is also back in none-sync mode. The sad thing is, that I have put in a number of events in Korganizer, that are now not shown in my shared Nextcloud calendar. I guess I will have to reset the connection and lose all of those. I tend to import flight events into my calendar, and those are often not fully sanitized. Thus I've replaced good old "utilites-terminal" icon for "preferences-desktop-display" and live happily until the last update. Now even my specifically chosen icons disappeared - just after the session restore. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start Konsole and make sure you have chosen non-default icons to your profiles. You can choose preferences-desktop-display for example, but it doesn't matter. 2. Open several tabs of your desired profile. You can see the icons on the tabs now. 3. Enable session restore in Plasma settings, if not enabled already. 4. Kindly restart the Plasma session and check the result. Steps to Reproduce: 1. log in non-English but quite fully translated KDE desktop environment 2. start calligraplan 3. main window appears Actual results: Main window's menu is in native language and buttons are in English language (see attachment). Translated strings for buttons are in calligraplanlibs.mo although they aren't displayed. Expected results: Main window's menu and buttons should be in native language. Additional info: 1) translations from calligraplan.mo are showed correctly in the application 2) I've tried to update: calligraplan.mo calligraplanlibs.mo in /usr/share/locale/pl/LC_MESSAGES/ from https://l10n.kde.org/ but no change. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

It's not quite as bad as 1 second lags for me (Linux, nVidia proprietary OpenGL drivers), but the canvas lags quite a bit compared to the smooth movement when assistants are turned off. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
