image showing onscreen toll tip of scribus

SUMMARY
When drawing on canvas with shape tools, or when dragging a guide or in case
the user is cropping the image, it would be great to show relevant information
on canvas. Similar to how we show zoom level percentages on screen. unlike the
case of zoom, the tooltip when drawing should be near the cursor so that user
doesn't have to look at other end of canvas.

An example of this feature can be seen in scribus 1.5.5, when you draw a shape
it shows you height and width of the shape live. When dragging a guide on
canvas it shows you the co-ordinates of the guide. This helps the user by
preventing him to look at the tool option while drawing. This will also help in
canvas only mode.

In addition to the shape we can also show the tool tip while shift resizing the
brush, it can show the brush size.

To summarise:

Show on screen co-ordinates or size information while :

1) Drawing shapes
2) Dragging guides
3) Resizing brush
4) Moving layer objects
5) Moving vector objects
6) Moving mirror symmetry line
7) Moving axes of the multibrush tool
8) Using the measurement tool
9) Using Crop tool
10) Any other tool which requires user to look at the tool option for
dimensions

I have attached a screenshot of the on screen tool tip of scribus

[kcharselect] [Bug 412271] Search field should return results for an emoji

2019-09-25 Thread Brennan Kinney
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412271

> I doubt this is what you were after.

Actually, consistency would help at least. The mixed space behaviour was
confusing.

> Could you clarify how the decision when to start the incremental search could
> be improved?

How do users tend to make use of the search field?

If I want all glyphs related to "q" and I notice I get instant results with
some inputs, then as a user, it'd be assumed with no obvious min input
requirement, that adding spaces to fill UTF-16 values to a count of 3 is
non-obvious.

If I want to search a emoji such as "藍", again, copy/paste to the search field
has no immediate result. I only found out the added space inputs triggered a
result somehow by mistake, later learning order was not important.

The minimum requirement doesn't help but make it confusing here for what I'd
imagine is a common use-case, to lookup a single character/glyph(not knowing
the text name or unicode value(or whatever U+1F923 is)).

Getting plenty of results during input isn't an issue, it already shows
everything in the current subsection for an empty search field. It's not a
realistic performance concern, so as the user types multiple characters into
the query, those results will filter regardless?

Some indication of minimum input would otherwise be helpful. You mention the
user can press "return/enter" key to avoid the spaces, but there is no UI
"search" button, just immediate results after the min input is reached, thus as
a user it's a less obvious action(beyond assuming enter on a field might do the
expected behaviour, but this for me was dispelled as I had seen the immediate
results with searching unicode values previously, it just did not occur to me
to try).

> KCharSelect doesn't implement the Unicode Emoji standard. It only works with
> codepoints.

Could you detect this like Konsole does? It notices invisible/zero-width
codepoints and offers to remove them. Perhaps you could remove FE0F(although
valid to search by this value, but not it's "rendered" glyph) and the zwj
codepoint, such that the female spy would paste two separate glyphs(you could
separate them via a space perhaps?).

Alternatively, upon detection, straight-up inform the user that this type of
input is not supported by KCharSelect, only single/individual codepoints(and
allow the user to figure out what that means).

> The word FACE is unfortunately also a hex word. A group of 4 or 5 hex digits
> are treated as codepoints.

Yes, I understand that. My confusion was why is that result being returned when
the other part of the query has "confused" which has nothing to do with the
FACE result?

For example "1F601  1F923" as a query, will return only the two codepoints
specified, the emoji glyph in the middle is omitted. Similarly "  藍" equates
to no results. Something is wrong with the query/filtering here, unicode values
are kind of treated as "OR" but the emoji glyphs are like "AND" for keywords(as
in they won't return a result unless all keywords are relevant".

"confused  fac" is similar, the emoji glyph itself doesn't appear to have any
effect at impacting the results, only by itself as " ".

---

SUMMARY

It'd be nice if there was some consistency in these behaviours, and if certain
inputs are not supported, that they could inform the user.

Of interest might be this article:
https://hsivonen.fi/string-length/

It points out how various languages handle such input/strings differently and
why. Perhaps the mentioned Rust crate could be used to improve the current
parsing? (though being another language probably makes that a hard no?)

   Product: valgrind
   Version: 3.15 SVN

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Assignee: jsew...@acm.org
  Reporter: judge.pack...@gmail.com

SUMMARY

Hi,

We have a bulid environment/CI system where we are cross-compiling valgrind for
various architectures. Due to the way the CI system creates it's working
directories such as ${os}-${arch} we end up with paths like
/workspace/linux-mips64/output which are included as part of the sysroot when
cross-compiling.

Our configure invocation ends up like this

CFLAGS='--sysroot=/workspace/linux-mips64/sysroot -g2 -gz  -mabi=64 -O0' \
./configure --target=mips64-unknown-linux-gnu \
--host=mips64-unknown-linux-gnu \
--build=x86_64-linux-gnu ...

This trips up the following grep in configure.ac

https://sourceware.org/git/?p=valgrind.git;a=blob;f=configure.ac;hb=HEAD#l1751

It matches the 'linux-mips64' and skips the code that sets FLAG_M32 and
FLAG_M64.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. create sysroot in a path with 'linux-mips64' as a component
2. run
  CFLAGS='--sysroot=/workspace/linux-mips64/sysroot -g2 -gz  -mabi=64 -O0' \
./configure --target=mips64-unknown-linux-gnu \
--host=mips64-unknown-linux-gnu \
--build=x86_64-linux-gnu
3. check values for FLAG_M32 and FLAG_M64 in config.log

OBSERVED RESULT

FLAG_M32 and FLAG_M64 are not set

EXPECTED RESULT

FLAG_M32='-mips32 -mabi=32' FLAG_M64='-march=mips64r2 -mabi=64'

[digikam] [Bug 412343] New: Allow to apply the previously assigned tag to a new image

2019-09-25 Thread Kusi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412343

Bug ID: 412343
Summary: Allow to apply the previously assigned tag to a new
image
   Product: digikam
   Version: 6.3.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tags-Keywords
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@forum.titlis.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Please add a keyboard shortcut "Assign previously assigned tag" (or just
"Assign previous tag")

Usecase: You want to assign the tag to the images 1,2 and 4 with the
keyboard
- Assign to image 1 and proceed to the next image. is now saved
as
- Press shortcut to apply to image 2 and automatically
proceed to next image 3
- Proceed to the next image 4
- Press shortcut to apply to image 3 and automatically
proceed to next image

Assume you assigned the following keyboard shortcuts
Assign tag: "T"
Next image: "J" (inspired by vim)
Assign last assigned tag: "." (inspired by vim)

For the described usecase above, you simply press
<.><.> and you're done

When I tag images, I always have the Preview-View, which doesn't allow me to
select a group of images with a mouse click, therefore the keyboard is the only
way to efficiently assign the same tag to several pictures. I could select them
in the Thumbnail view, but this is often too small for me to decide which tags
to assign.

About the wish to automatically proceed to the next image after assigning the
last tag: if the user wants to do further tagging of the same image, he is most
likely not interested anymore in the last used tag for the next image. The main
purpose of is to apply one (and only one) particular tag to
many images, hence automatically proceeding to the next image makes sense to
me.

What needs to be done
- save the last assigned tag somewhere
- add a function AssignLastTagAndProceed()
- New KAction for signalAssignLastTagAndProceed() in
DigikamApp::setupAccelerators()

What do you think about this wish?

[kwin] [Bug 412342] New: Effects interface: windowDamaged() call sometimes missing on AMD

2019-09-25 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412342

Bug ID: 412342
Summary: Effects interface: windowDamaged() call sometimes
missing on AMD
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.16.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: haagch.christ...@googlemail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

So far it is tested on a Vega 64 on X11 with recent mesa master, and this is
where this issue happens for me.

On my nvidia machine with Ubuntu 19.04 this issue does not happen.

We have an effect plugin (xrdesktop) that makes use of window textures in
drawWindow(), and for performance reasons we only want to process textures when
the window content is updated, i.e. after a windowDamaged() call for this
window.

This works fine usually, but sometimes there is a windowDamaged() call missing
even though the window renders at 60 fps on a 60 Hz display.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

I wrote a minimal effects plugin for testing this:
https://github.com/ChristophHaag/kwin-effect-test-damage
No dependencies and the plugin is enabled by default, just cmake ..; make; make
install
The output happens with qDebug(), and the default window it watches for is
glxgears, so run

GALLIUM_HUD=frametime glxgears
and
QT_PLUGIN_PATH=/usr/local/lib/plugins/ TEST_DAMAGE_VERBOSE=TRUE kwin_x11
--replace

OBSERVED RESULT

The plugin prints the durations between windowDamaged() calls for glxgears, and
an extra message when there are two drawWindow() calls where no windowDamaged()
call happens in between.
On my 60 Hz monitor the time between two windowDamaged() calls is usually
~16.67ms, but sometimes one windowDamaged() call is omitted:

damaged(): 16.6673 ms since last damage
damaged(): 16.6368 ms since last damage
damaged(): 16.6442 ms since last damage
damaged(): 16.775 ms since last damage
drawWindow(): Drawing window "glxgears" without previous damaged event!
drawWindow(): 34.7693 ms since last damage
damaged(): 35.1921 ms since last damage
damaged(): 31.3251 ms since last damage
damaged(): 16.5497 ms since last damage
damaged(): 17.5127 ms since last damage
damaged(): 15.8502 ms since last damage

I do believe that this drawWindow() call that had no preceding windowDamaged()
call, actually draws a window with updated content, but I have not really dug
into this issue yet.

You compared the behaviour of the open with dialogue to krunner; krunner
doesn't care which category the application belongs to in the menu, so it shows
"Ark" first.

The open with dialogue displays the results, but sorts them by category. And it
indicated which one is selected, which happens to be wireshark.

Currently only graphical editor exists to define dependencies between tasks.
What I'd find useful especially for large projects is having an option to
define these relationship manually (e. g. in a separate task tab/column). See
attachment to see how Ganttproject (https://www.ganttproject.biz/) does this
for instance.

[frameworks-kimageformats] [Bug 360821] Gimp 2.10 xcf files cannot be loaded

2019-09-25 Thread maderios
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360821

Hi
I posted here a bug report to Gimp Team about Gimp 2.10 XCF support
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/issues/3990

This is a copy:

GIMP version: 2.10.12
Operating System: Arch Linux and all others
Is the issue reproducible? : Always
Hi
The facts: at this time, Gimp 2.10 XCF files can be only loaded by Gimp (to be
written by another application is not the subject here)
Except Gimp 2.10, none application is able to display Gimp 2.10 XCF
multi-layers thumbnails.
Digikam, Gthumb, Nautilus, Thunar, Pcmanfm, Gwenview, Geeqie, etc, none of them
can display XCF thumbnails
It has changed since 2.9 version. Before, other graphic applications could
display <= 2.8 Gimp version XCF thumbnails.
Why this changing behaviour? It's a big problem for users and others apps
developers.
This issue doesn't come from others softwares developers incompetence.
It comes from the fact that Gimp 2.10 code cannot be used inside other graphic
softwares.
I imagine they could, in an other world, do a kind of "reverse engineering" but
that would be a strange thing in a Free Software / Open Source world.
Personally, I use Gimp and Digikam. As i explain above, since 2.9 Gimp version,
I can't see XCF thumbnails in Digikam.
I have to convert Gimp 2.10 XCF files to proprietary Adobe format, .psd, to see
them. It may sound strange in the Linux world but, sadly, it's the reality
Gimp is an extraordinary, irreplaceable software but, I regret to announce here
that Gimp 2.10 XCF format looks like a closed format. On paper, the code is
open but, in facts, it is unusable in other projects, just like a closed code.
All open source file formats offer a library to handle the data inside. Why not
Gimp ?

ok, so the patch is at least partially helpful. So probably worth pushing.

I guess there are two different problems here then.

Never an exchange format? It's not true: up to 2.8 Gimp version, XCF format
could be supported in other applications, including Digikam.

Hello to all,
after a try just now with the 4.2.6 that I've just download,
I'm glad to see that there's no more problem with the hit order between Ctrl
and Space.
I really don't know why I was the only one with this particular issue.
By the way, I'm sorry to have made you wait when you wanted to deepen the
research. Actually, as a young dad (and changing job) free time is infinitely
hard to release but, by respect, I had to re-inject you quickly into my
priorities.

Thank deeply to all, keep up the great work guys!

PS : If the issue reappear, do I need to open a new thread? Just in case?

The changes were needed to support the new features in GIMP. The XCF format was
never designed as an exchange format, but only as an internal format for the
GIMP application. Applications need to be changed to support format changes;
there is, for example, no official library that applications could use.

2019-09-25 Thread Christian
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412338

Bug ID: 412338
   Summary: vex x86->IR: unhandled instruction bytes: 0xF 0x3F 0x7

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: memcheck
  Assignee: jsew...@acm.org
  Reporter: christian.fr...@mitel.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I get the valgrind logs below when running our 32bit program on an x64_x86
platform. The code that is being run is a function from a statically linked
secure library that tries to determine if we are running on virtualized
hardware.

Sep 25 13:51:20 chrvmcd valgrind[20129]: vex x86->IR: unhandled instruction
bytes: 0xF 0x3F 0x7 0xB
Sep 25 13:51:20 chrvmcd valgrind[20129]: ==20129== valgrind: Unrecognised
instruction at address 0x9e35823.

Sep 25 13:51:20 chrvmcd valgrind[20129]: vex x86->IR: unhandled instruction

Sep 25 13:51:20 chrvmcd valgrind[20129]: ==20129== valgrind: Unrecognised
instruction at address 0x9e3556d.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Invoke program with the command "/usr/bin/valgrind --tool=memcheck
--undef-value-errors=no /sysro/mn3300lx"
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
Get the error logs mentioned above and the function that was run returns an
unexpected value. But the program continues to run.

EXPECTED RESULT
The function should return 2 in the success case.

[krita] [Bug 412336] New: Segment displayed at the beginning of each curve drawn with a pen on the tablet

2019-09-25 Thread Lucas Le Duff
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412336

Bug ID: 412336
Summary: Segment displayed at the beginning of each curve drawn
with a pen on the tablet
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.2.6
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: General
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: lucas-le-d...@orange.fr
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When I start drawing a line with a pen on my Huion tablet, the first part of
the line is a segment, as if the pen cursor was freezing during 200
milliseconds. The rest of the line correctly reproduces the pen movement. I
reinstalled the computer, which solved the problem for a few days. But then,
the problem appeared again for no reason.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
The problem is systematic on my PC, whenever I use a pen with a tablet. I tried
2 different tablets.
There is no problem if I use the mouse instead of a pen in Krita.
There is no problem if I use another software like Paint.

OBSERVED RESULT
Pen cursor is freezing at the beginning of the curve.

EXPECTED RESULT
Pen cursor should follow the movement on the tablet.

[plasmashell] [Bug 412326] Colours of desktop wallpaper is different from same image in Gwenview

2019-09-25 Thread Christoph Feck
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412326

Gwenview does support ICC color correction, Plasma does not. Work on ICC color
profile support for QImage will only be added to Qt 5.14, which is not released
yet.

Until then, I think it doesn't make sense to add color correction into each KDE
application or desktop shell separately.

Regarding Firefox, I am quite sure it also has support for ICC profiles. Note
that Gwenview can be configured for various rendering intents, and it is
possible that you selected an option resulting a different image than Firefox,
or the color correction in Firefox is disabled.

I suggest to keep this open to remind us that Plasma eventually needs to add
some QImage property to respect the ICC profile when we can depend on Qt 5.14,
which might be for Plasma 5.19 earliest, likely later.

[Akonadi] [Bug 406917] Sync of webdav calendar stuck forever

2019-09-25 Thread MartinG
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=406917

I checked mine today, and mine is also back in none-sync mode. The sad thing
is, that I have put in a number of events in Korganizer, that are now not shown
in my shared Nextcloud calendar. I guess I will have to reset the connection
and lose all of those. I tend to import flight events into my calendar, and
those are often not fully sanitized. I'd much rather be confronted with an
error when this happens, with an option to ignore and move on, rather than to
be left in "offline mode" without knowing it!

Please let me know if any more info is needed.

2. Go to the Now Playing view

OBSERVED RESULT
The artwork and title appear, but none of the metadata or lyrics.

If you manually restart playback for the current song (e.g. by double-clicking
the song in the global playlist) then the missing information will appear.

However, when the current song completes, the metadata and lyrics display in
the Now Playing view do not automatically update themselves to show

[yakuake] [Bug 412332] New: Animated expand/retract resizes ncurses clients repeatedly

2019-09-25 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412332

Bug ID: 412332
Summary: Animated expand/retract resizes ncurses clients
repeatedly
   Product: yakuake
   Version: 3.0.5
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: h...@kde.org
  Reporter: lo...@kde.bt.alestan.publicvm.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
NCurses clients running inside yakuake detect yakuake's animation as multiple
window resizes, which often causes graphical glitches with the running
programs.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start yakuake
2. Start an ncurses program which reports resizing (atop works well)
3. Toggle yakuake retracted and displayed
4. Observe the window resized message

OBSERVED RESULT
NCurses clients think the window is resized

EXPECTED RESULT
NCurses clients are unaware of the animation

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: linux 5.2.1
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.15.5
Qt Version: 5.12.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If the ncurses program is not in yakuake's active tab, this does not happen.
Changing the animation time does nothing, even if set to 0ms. Toggling the
'ask the window manager to perform the animation' does nothing. I don't think
I've noticed this problem under X, only under plasma wayland (I'll check that
when I get next to a machine still running X).

Comparing the 4.2.5 appimage to master - Auto tips have really regressed in
performance but that bitmap brush tip with the complex outline is similarly
sluggish to move, so the latter is probably not relevant to this bug.

Can confirm as well. It seems to be more noticable with the Auto tips, but a
bitmap tip I tested that generates a very noisy, detailed outline causes severe
slowdown and a CPU usage spike (on a single thread) from just moving the brush
over the canvas.

[kmymoney] [Bug 412259] Add ability to enter payee city and state

2019-09-25 Thread Phil
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412259

Thanks for reminding me about the sql back end, I will test it.

I have a question, I see the payee information quite different from the
other information that is saved. What I mean is that the payee information
saves the payee city and state (the seems to be very North American
oriented) where the rest of the data uses locality, country and region.
Should I revise the payee data to be inline or the same as the individual
data? or leave it alone?

Please let me know, which is preferable.

Phil

[konsole] [Bug 412328] New: Tabbar icons disappear after session restore

2019-09-25 Thread Michal Kec
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412328

Bug ID: 412328
Summary: Tabbar icons disappear after session restore
   Product: konsole
   Version: 19.08.1
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: tabbar
  Assignee: konsole-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: k...@kecnet.cz
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 122867
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=122867=edit
Note the tabs: Left window is newly opened, right one is restored from the
session

Although I don't agree with the aesthetic reasons for hiding the "default"
terminal icon off tabs (as discussed on https://phabricator.kde.org/D17747), I
got used for it. Thus I've replaced good old "utilites-terminal" icon for
"preferences-desktop-display" and live happily until the last update. Now even
my specifically chosen icons disappeared - just after the session restore.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start Konsole and make sure you have chosen non-default icons to your
profiles. You can choose preferences-desktop-display for example, but it
doesn't matter.
2. Open several tabs of your desired profile. You can see the icons on the tabs
now.
3. Enable session restore in Plasma settings, if not enabled already.
4. Kindly restart the Plasma session and check the result.

EXPECTED RESULT
Plasma should restore the session with all apps and their windows state.

OBSERVED RESULT
Konsole gets restored with all tabs, but no icons on.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE neon 5.16 User Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.62.0
Qt Version: 5.12.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This behavior happened since update just about a week ago. Reproducible always,
even after closing the Konsole and opening new window with new tabs (and new
session).
I can see differences in the syntax of the session files in
~/.config/session/konsole* - the third line used to be
"Sessions=1,4,2,3,7,5,6,8", newer files contains
"Tabs=[{"Orientation":"Horizontal","Widgets":[{"SessionRestoreId":1}]},"
instead.

IINM, most distros set a default browser in their kde installations by default;
how could KDE set a default browser? that depends on what web browsers are
installed by default in a distro which is something KDE doesn't control.

^C is ctrl+c. I used that to stop it after I saw that Latte was fully loaded
and working. I did not want to have one of my Konsole tabs taken up by Latte.

Anyway, Latte sometimes crashes, seemingly at random. It is always in the
middle of hiding when it crashes, but I, as I am currently, cannot predict when
it will crash.

Evert - On which Kdenlive version you made this screen grab? Looks like 18.12.

Intersting finding that the clips/proxy and effects are not proper scaled down
in the timeline for playback.

Similar issue here: https://invent.kde.org/kde/kdenlive/issues/198.

I think we discussed ones if we should do the playback view just on ½ or ¼ of
the original size to speed up the playback.

So folks don't have to view a 3rd-party bug tracker to see details, I'll paste
in the comment:

Calligra Plan shows half of the strings untranslated in Polish language
although they have translation on https://l10n.kde.org/

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
3.1.0

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. log in non-English but quite fully translated KDE desktop environment
2. start calligraplan
3. main window appears

Actual results:
Main window's menu is in native language and buttons are in English language
(see attachment). Translated strings for buttons are in calligraplanlibs.mo
although they aren't displayed.

Expected results:
Main window's menu and buttons should be in native language.

Additional info:
1) translations from calligraplan.mo are showed correctly in the application
2) I've tried to update:

calligraplan.mo
calligraplanlibs.mo

I definitely still get unpleasant choppiness too when panning on a zoomed in

It's not quite as bad as 1 second lags for me (Linux, nVidia proprietary OpenGL
drivers), but the canvas lags quite a bit compared to the smooth movement when
assistants are turned off.
