Okay, I found out how to make it work.

I realised that there's a notification in the bottom left corner of the screen
(very subtle), which says; "select the track first".

Maybe it would be better to make that notification a bit more
obvious/contrasting.

Example of caret appearing next to Back/Forward buttons.

SUMMARY
The Back/Forward buttons in Dolphin's toolbar have a downward caret to the
right of their icon (see screenshot). No other toolbar buttons appear to have
this behavior. I've tried changing icon themes, changing the toolbar's
orientation (vertical/horizontal), and changing the text position (Icons only,
Icons + Text, Text only), but the caret always appears.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin
2. Make sure toolbar is visible & contains Back/Forward buttons (Settings >
Show Toolbar)
3. Notice the downward caret next to each button's icon

OBSERVED RESULT

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416271

Personally I think instead of shoving the existence of activities in the user's
face, we should just make everything activity-aware. Right now it's not at all
obvious what's activity-aware and what's not, which I think contributes to the
feature being kind of... weird.

Alternatively, I know it would be kind of redundant, but maybe we could expose
the config UI in multiple places: one in an easily-located part of System
Settings, and again in the Activities KCM. The easily-located one would just
show the settings for the current activity.

(In reply to Dominik Haumann from comment #4)
> Is it that with these patches one always has to save manually?

Yes. Which is how it used to be, at least for me. Optimally a configuration
option to select autosave should be coded for those who want it to work that
way. For me, I make mistakes often, and I would rather not have those mistakes
irretrievably autosaved. It would also be quite good to have an "undo close
file" but that's probably an even bigger undertaking than the config option.
Even a prompt before closing that asks if you want to save the session before
closing would be good (with it's own config option too, for those who don't
want to have to click one more thing before closing).

The patches at least help pinpoint the two places where a dev can start looking
into the solution for this.

I agree we want to do something.

But it's also important that we expose toggling on a per activity basis, which
wouldn't be trivial.

As a counter to moving the setting, the other plausible option is changing the
UI of recent documents to have some visual hint that it's activity aware.
(recent documents for activity "Default")

This would both expose the feature of activities and hint at the setting
location at the same time.

OK. There is no wizard to work through. Is this really a credit card account
or a loan account? There is a known issue that with a loan account, the "Edit
Account" brings up the loan wizard again, and there is no way to edit the other
aspects of the account. I'm not going to mark this a duplicate yet, but I
think it really is the same as https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386186.

[plasmashell] [Bug 416225] Highlighting of inactive and minimized windows reversed in task manager plasmoid.

rnd...@gmail.com changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Resolution|INTENTIONAL |FIXED

First of all, the bug linked seemed to mainly be complaining about a hovered
item not reflecting the activeness/minimizedness of the window, which I can
tell hasn't changed. I also strongly disagree with the notion that it was ever
hard to distinguish the state a window was in. If it was hard for some people,
that should be controlled by some accessibility option.

It's worth noting that I was confused in the linked reports about the talk of
"running applications" (as opposed to what?), but then I realized that that
might be distinguishing from pinned and not running applications. I don't have
anything pinned, so maybe the issue with distinguishing application states was
just with running vs. pinned applications, and that's why it's news to me?

In general, I don't mind the idea of changing the design; what I mind is that,
at least in the light Breeze theme, the change took designs that already have
established meanings, and repurposed them, thereby changing those meanings.
This leads to a more confusing task manager design.

I don't think reverting back would get more people upset. This new design has
only existed in 1 version of Plasma, while the old design has been seen for
every other version of Plasma 5.

Since you acknowledged that it looks better in icon-only mode (which I don't
use), maybe the solution is to acknowledge that there are different design
considerations between icon only and icon + text, and revert it for icon + text
only? Or perhaps, like I said, make it an accessibility feature (again, the
idea that it was difficult to tell window states is a surprise to me).

I don't really buy the idea that it would be hard to add a configuration
option. You could always make the task manager use the "wrong" SVGs depending
on the configuration, or "just" add more SVGs. My only concern with the
configuration option idea was that it would be too niche a concern to be worth
making configurable.

I will make sure to complain to the design group though, if this is gonna stay
"resolved". :)

Just to state again, I don't mind the changing of the design, especially to
make it easier for people to tell window states. I just mind that you did it by
making inactive windows look minimized and minimized windows look inactive.

Git commit a51086867c0f0f7e19b0dd2b9d59657542c46901 by David Edmundson.
Committed on 15/01/2020 at 00:36.
Pushed by davidedmundson into branch 'master'.

[applets/calculator] Use Qt's in-built number formatting

Summary:
Gets rid of a load of code.
Correctly handles floating point issues.
Results are correct.

Potentially this inadvertedly introduces a behaviour change
of including group separators depending on locale. This could be
considered a good thing, but if it's problematic we can always add a
.replace() at the end of this line.

Test Plan:
62 * 1.3 = 80.6

1 * 500 = 5e+17
(with whatever the right number of zeroes is)

42 * 1.3 = 6.665

Recording

SUMMARY

Sometimes, apart from the menu bar (File, Edit, ...), the app's perception of
the mouse location offset from the actual mouse cursor.

All the widgets and buttons are difficult to use. Interestingly, the
panel/frameset highlight _is_ accurately responding to the mouse cursor. When
there is not enough space to 'click above', the buttons are unreachable.

Changing the Window Size impacts the resulting offset. In the maximized window,
perhaps it's ~100 pixels vertically. Windowed, it increases to 600+ pixels.

Putting your computer to sleep and waking sometimes fixes this problem.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Start KdenLive 19.12.1 AppImage
2. Hover over and click widgets

In fact this option already exists in the Activities KCM:

The problem is, this is pretty un-discoverable. I don't think most people would

This was intentional, yes. I'll admit that the effect looks better when using
an Icons-Only Task Manager than it does for a traditional Task Manager. But we
did this to solve a commonly-reported-and-complained-about problem: Bug 370465.
You can see the discussion at https://phabricator.kde.org/D25340

For now I don't think we're going to be able to revert the change because it
would make even more prople mad at us for "going back and forth about design
changes" And I'm afraid there's not really a way to make it configurable since
it's a property of the SVG images in the plasma theme, not something in the
code that can be toggles on or off quickly.

If you feel dissatisfied with this, please feel free to get involved with the
design process and voice your opinion. You can see the instructions at

Unlike the space bar, we can't universally use the left and right arrow keys
for back/forwards by track because these keys are used for navigation through
the currently-focused view. If we had all lists, maybe we could do it because
lists only require the up and down keys for navigation, but we have grids, and
grids require all four arrow keys for navigation.

However currently there is no global shortcut at all for this, and I think
there should be. Maybe Ctrl+Left? Alt+Left? Do you know what other players do?

[krita] [Bug 415625] Crash in transform tool

2020-01-14 Thread Tymond
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=415625

Git commit 8ef04427c4b8e63265ab4bb3456659cf4b0d39a4 by Agata Cacko.
Committed on 14/01/2020 at 22:14.
Pushed by tymond into branch 'master'.

Initialize transform tool args when ending stroke

Before this commit, transform tool would get an
assert when switching to another tool without
any changes.
This commit removes trying to cancel the stroke
in the finishStrokeCallback() call
and initializes m_savedTransformArgs so the finishing
can happen as always.

WARNING: it probably isn't the "proper" solution
for this issue. It does work correctly, but it adds
an unnecessary undo step in the situation when cancelling
should be used instead of finishing the stroke
(for example when the user switches to transform tool
and then immediately to another tool without making any changes).

OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Panel
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: manuelcha...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

This has happened to me multiple times.
I unlock widgets and start moving one around, placing it in a different place.
Then I'm not sure what happens but it just disappears from the panel.
If I open the Add Widget panel, it shows a (1) on it, meaning it still exists
.. somewhere.

This is bad, especially since the widget might still be consuming cpu.

There's a "show password" button to the right of the textfield, that due to
various reasons doesn't render an icon.

I suspect you are clicking on that, which isn't surprising given the icon is
invisible.

I should probably just remove that button given that icon hasn't got fixed.
