[kmail2] [Bug 417471] New: Add a new column with a new tag "check back later"

2020-02-11 Thread Alexandre Bonneau
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417471

Bug ID: 417471
Summary: Add a new column with a new tag "check back later"
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.12.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: alexandre.bonn...@linuxfr.eu
  Target Milestone: ---

In kmail there are two great features ; you can configure the columns shown to
display an icon for important messages, as well as an icon for the TODO tag.

Also, when you click those icons, you simply toggle the important/not important
state, or the TODO/DONE one.
When the important state is used, the mail text color is shown in red.
When the TODO tag is used, the mail text color is shown in green.

This is great, and allow an efficient workflow.

But that workflow could be improved with a small addition :
When you receive some mails, you often have a choice to make :
- The mail is basic information -> Read it directly and be done with it
- The mail contains information you need to act on -> Read it and set the TODO
tag (so you get a nice color you can identify easily while browsing your
previous mails to search for unfinished todos)
- The mail contains information that you worked on, then replied to with a
question of your own. -> Now, since some people are unreliable and may miss
your email, you WILL need to check later if you got an answer. To do that you
need to mark that initial email as "Check back later" (which could color the
text in pink for instance).
This way you know you _already have done the work_, but only need to ping again
the person you answered to.

This "Check back later" tag (name to be defined) is different than the "TODO"
one since a todo means some amount of work have to be done (and that take
time), while "Check back later" only needs you to resend a quick message like
"Hey, I haven't heard about you on this subject. Could you please get back to
me whenever you're available? xoxoxo".

This would go a long way to improve a mail management workflow, and be sure to
not miss anything (this is loosely based on the Get Things Done methodology).

Bonus :
Even better, when adding a 'check back later' tag to an email, it could
automatically create a task (like you can already do) and just asks for the
date and hour, the default calendar being configured somewhere else.
Right now once you created a task from kmail, you have no indication if a
particular email has tasks attached to it, or even if those tasks are done.

So the main purpose of this wish is to have a way to color an email with a one
click toggle like the TODO one.

Regards

[systemsettings] [Bug 412211] Night Color activated at the wrong times when using using Auto or Location modes

Night color is backwards!!!

Desktop changes to night color as the sun comes up, and switches to day-time
color as the sun goes down.

Settings:

Mode: Location:
Lat: 43
Lon: -1

Same happens in these modes:
- Automatic
- Time ("Heures" - My desktop runs in French - Should read "Heure", by the
way + impossible to edit the times - they are read only)

This could be the real culprit behind many of these bug reports.

Sorry, there is one difference for using sextractor. There is an additional
call for using sextractor. You should not need to copy that line to the
terminal because I think it worked originally. You should copy the one to
solve field like the one in my screenshot. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

THen check that signon-ui is installed. And maybe try to run "signon-ui"

necessary to do that manually though, it should get autostarted).

There is something particular about your file as this does not happen for
everyone. What color space are you working with? Also, Make sure you do not
have Docker -> Lut with "Use OpenColorIO" activated from what I know, this
color preview does not apply to exported files (image or animation)

SUMMARY
When I render an animation, it saves as a very unsaturated file, rather than
the normally colored file I animated originally.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Clicked "render animation"
2. Saved the animation to my computer
3. Opened animation from file explorer and it came out less saturated

OBSERVED RESULT
Animation opened as a very unsaturated video.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Launch Konsole
2. Set the color scheme to "Linux Colors", or anything with a black background
3. Do anything that requires scrolling

OBSERVED RESULT

The scroll bar is rendered as dark grey on black (see attached screenshot.) I
have at least average vision, and I have to hold my face up to the screen and
squint to determine the scroll position.

EXPECTED RESULT

The scroll bar should have reasonable contrast, and there should be an option
to revert to the system-wide theme.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

I'm currently using Konsole 19.08.1 with LxQt 0.14.1 on Debian testing. The
problem also occurs on my work computer with Cinnamon.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This started a few years ago, when Konsole (unnecessarily, imho) switched to a
custom scrollbar. I've been using the blue "Solarized" theme to work around
the problem, but I prefer black.

This was reported twice on the forums:
- https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=227=156174

The latter speculates that https://phabricator.kde.org/D11184 is the cause.

another example
Feren OS 2020.01 (Plasma: 5.17.5 | Frameworks: 5.66.0 | Qt: 5.13.2) - this
distro has LightDM instead of SDDM but also suffers from this bug after locking

Konsole: "loginctl lock-session")

Solus 4.1 with Plasma (Plasma: 5.17.5 | Frameworks: 5.66.0 | Qt: 5.13.2) -
there is no bug here

SUMMARY

On KDE Neon Unstable Edition. When loading Info Center, the initial (default)
loading of the System Information behaves correctly. However, after loading any
other section, e.g. Memory or Energy, and then returning to System Information,
template text is displayed instead of the previously shown content. In other
words, we see "{NameVersionLabel}", etc.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Info Center.
2. Change selection from System Information to any other, e.g. Memory, Energy,
...
3. Return to System Information section.
4. Template text is displayed instead of actual information shown after step 1.

[Powerdevil] [Bug 417464] New: Limit battery charging to e.g. 80% to improve battery lifetime

2020-02-11 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417464

Bug ID: 417464
Summary: Limit battery charging to e.g. 80% to improve battery
lifetime
   Product: Powerdevil
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR

  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: kje...@kjernsmo.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

There's an interesting article on prolonging battery life at:
https://batteryuniversity.com/index.php/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries

They recommend:

"To make this feature user-friendly, a device should feature a “Long Life” mode
that keeps the battery at 4.05V/cell and offers a SoC of about 80 percent. One
hour before traveling, the user requests the “Full Capacity” mode to bring the
charge to 4.20V/cell."

So, it is basically my wish that this is implemented in KDE. You can't do that
now, right? If not, it seems like Powerdevil would be a nice place to have a
setting that limits the charge to a certain percentage of full, and then
possibly a plasmoid or something that makes it really easy to override that
like they suggest.

If I understand it correctly, there is stuff in TLP that can help with this, at
least on some system, but I don't know if that's the appropriate way to
implement it.

Bug ID: 417461

Screenshot for Clearlooks Phenix

SUMMARY
While using theme_ for a uniform look between GTK and KDE it leads unintended
results. Not every GTK theme is designed to support colors but some of them
still use theme_* items which causes some GTK themes to break.

My proposed solution is using a completely different naming scheme (if GTK3
allows this) for Breeze-gtk and modifying kcm_color accordingly KDE's
@define-color items can have some prefix like kde_theme_fg_color in
~/.config/colors.css file.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Choose Breeze dark in kcm_color
2. Install gtk3-widget-factory
3. Download latest release Clearlooks-Phenix (
https://github.com/jpfleury/clearlooks-phenix )
4. Extract contents in a folder under ~/.themes . I will rename the top level
directory that contains index.theme as clearfoo
5. Run GTK_THEME=clearfoo gtk3-widget-factory

OBSERVED RESULT
Breeze-dark colors set in ~/.config/gtk-3.0/colors.css override some of the
colors of Clearlooks Phenix and break the theme.

EXPECTED RESULT
GTK themes other than the ones strive for KDE compatibility shouldn't be
affected by KDE's color settings.

Plasma Themes are setting their opacity setting in their svg files. That means
that by default there are plasma themes that DONOT provide solid visuals for
100% opacity. Latte has add workarounds and extra calculations to succeed in
this. So what you are asking is a new better approach for plasma themes that
somehow provide values from 0% to 100% opacity. That is not Latte
responsibility of course.

If all of your machines are either Neon, or are otherwise running Qt 5.13.2,
then that makes sense, since we think this was a Qt 5.13.2 regression.

Yes of course they can have different opacity settings, but you maybe missed my
point - those opacity settings if matched like 50% and 50% should ideally be
visually same, ain't it?

Now looks like Latte and rest of the system just use different "curves", if it
makes sense
