[skrooge] [Bug 419006] New: kdeapps "nightly" flatpak isn't using latest KDE/Qt runtime version 5.14

2020-03-18 Thread skierpage
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419006

Bug ID: 419006
Summary: kdeapps "nightly" flatpak isn't using latest KDE/Qt
runtime version 5.14
   Product: skrooge
   Version: Trunk from git
  Platform: Flatpak
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: guillaume.deb...@gmail.com
  Reporter: skierp...@gmail.com
CC: steph...@mankowski.fr
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
This is really minor, but I noticed the skrooge flatpak on Flathub uses the KDE
Runtime version 5.14 and Qt 5.14.1, but the "nightly" skrooge build from master
on kdeapps is still on 5.12.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. `flatpak info org.kde.skrooge//master`
2. `flatpak run branch=master org.kde.skrooge`
3. Choose Help > About Skrooge > Libraries

OBSERVED RESULT
 Runtime: org.kde.Platform/x86_64/5.12
 Sdk: org.kde.Sdk/x86_64/5.12
Older version of Qt

EXPECTED RESULT
Comparing with the stable Skrooge build onflathub, the KDE Platform Runtime
seems up to 5.14 and Qt 5.14.1.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Linux/KDE Plasma:
KDE Plasma Version: n/a
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.67.0
Qt Version: 5.12.7

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comparing org.kde.skrooge.json with
https://github.com/flathub/org.kde.skrooge/blob/master/org.kde.skrooge.json ,
the fix seems just changing two lines from 5.12 to 5.14:

   "runtime-version":"5.14",
...
   "base-version":"5.14",

I could submit an arcanist/Differential patch but it would be untested since
I'm not equipped to build the flatpak.

I can confirm this behavior on my end. I'm running Manjaro with the optional
KDE git packages from their repos. The exact date when it first started escapes
me, it was likely around 2 months ago after a 5.18 prerelease update. Same
issue when starting Gwenview from terminal, no relevant error message (only
some libpng complaints about mismatching color profiles).

I hope it's alright to set the status to confirmed, there is at least one other
person in the linked thread claiming to have this issue.

I have uploaded a screencast. Unfortunately there is more flickering than I am
actually seeing. For me just the content of the PDF become white. In the video
all the windows and the panel flicker, which is not a problem at all. This must
be an issue of the screencast software. I have tried with Kazam and
recordmydesktop. They both have this problem.

Bug ID: 419005
Summary: Add a keyboard shortcut to mark current timeline as
read
   Product: choqok
   Version: 1.7.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: scarp...@kde.org
  Reporter: ecogn...@michevan.id.au
  Target Milestone: ---

There is currently a shortcut to mark ALL timelines as read (ctrl-R by
default).

It would be very handy to be able to mark the currently viewed timeline as
read. Equivalent to the little button that appears above the scrollbar in the
top right.

SUMMARY

After updating from Plasma 5.18.2 to 5.18.3, the graphical activities manager
is non-functional, and cycling between activities no longer works via the
global keybind.

Specifically, the graphical activities manager widget shows no activities.

The "Activities Bar" widget shows no activities.

kactivites-cli is completely functional, showing activities and allowing me to
switch between them.

The KCM "Activities" component shows all of the activities I have ever created.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Update from 5.18.2 to 5.18.3.
2. Open the "Activity Manager"
3. Close Activity Manager
4. Press - to cycle to the next activity.

OBSERVED RESULT

There are no activities present - not the current activity, nor any running
activities, nor any stopped activities.

- has no effect.

EXPECTED RESULT

All of my activities will be displayed.

- will switch to the next running activity.

The rationale here was that NEVER results in no s390x instruction being
emitted, so nothing is actually read or written.

> although I think the absolute safest thing would be to put an assertion
> in the construction for this insn to disallow NEVER and ALWAYS, since they

It seems that s390_isel_cc can at least theoretically yield NEVER or ALWAYS (in
case of an Int1 constant, Ico_U1), so I guess I feel more comfortable with
leaving support for that in right now. Unless it's guaranteed that Ico_U1
can't survive until isel? Of course, we could also handle these cases
specially instead of always creating a conditional move. Perhaps I'll look
into that later, but I prefer to do that independently from this bug.

> Second point is .. are there any other cond-move insn variants?
> FP, Vector etc?
Not yet, but I guess I'll have to add them in order to fix the remaining
"grail" fails on s390x.

> +1 to land with any of the above changes you think are good (including none).
OK, thanks for looking into this!

Not fixed here. Every time a mount or unmount occurs, memory consumption of
running dolphin processes goes up by typically more than 200 K. With several
automounters using idle timeouts for NAS exports and several running dolphins
this sums up quite fast.
As told in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=398908#c45, this is not
specific to the NAS exports (NFS) but can be provoked identically by mounting
and unmounting a USB flash drive.

[valgrind] [Bug 418004] Grail code additions break ppc64

2020-03-18 Thread Carl Love

Created attachment 126876
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=126876=edit
Additional PPC 64 grail fixes

The issue that is causing regression errors on PPC64 has to do
with the grail changes as mentioned in some private emails.

Specifically the commit in question is:

   commit 076a79a48e251067758e1e9d8e50681450ed3889
   Author: Julian Seward
   Date: Wed Nov 27 08:52:45 2019 +0100

'grail' fixes for ppc32 and ppc64:

   * do_minimal_initial_iropt_BB: for ppc64, flatten rather than
   assert flatness.
 (Kludge. Sigh.)
   etc.

The patch adds the following code in ir_opt.c

  // FIXME2 The TOC-redirect-hacks generators in m_translate.c --
gen_PUSH()
//and gen_PO() -- don't generate flat IR, and so cause this
assertion
//to fail. For the time being, hack around this by flattening,
//rather than asserting for flatness, on the afflicted platforms.
  //This is a kludge, yes.
  if (guest_arch == VexArchPPC64) {
 bb0 = flatten_BB(bb0); // Kludge!
  } else {
vassert(isFlatIRSB(bb0)); // How it Really Should Be (tm).
  }

The issue comes from the new expressions generated by flatten_BB(bb0).
As mentioned in previous private emails, the flatten_BB() generates
V128 expressions for Iex_ITE which is not supported.

The following patch adds the needed support for Iex_ITE for V128
expressions. I kinda get what the Iex_ITE needs to do but don't claim
to completely understand it all or why the kludge calls flatten_BB()
only for the PPC64 architecture.

I don't know the date now, no. I would suggest you land them as soon
as you feel they are stable enough, so that others can test them. Then,
if there are stability problems after landing, we can fix or in the
worst case back out, as necessary. Does that work for you?

(In reply to Andreas Arnez from comment #7)

> s390x: Fix register usage of conditional moves

Looks good to me. Two minor points:

For the NEVER case, it might be more "symmetrical" in relation to
the ALWAYS case, to say that it modifies dst, rather than saying
nothing. (I know it modifies it with the same value). Then
in effect the code says:

  NEVER= read dst, write dst;
ALWAYS = read src, write dst

although I think the absolute safest thing would be to put an assertion
in the construction for this insn to disallow NEVER and ALWAYS, since they
are degenerate cases, and I assume will never occur in practice.

Second point is .. are there any other cond-move insn variants?
FP, Vector etc?

+1 to land with any of the above changes you think are good (including none).

First one is system-settings -> Shortcuts -> Global Shortcuts (Section
Application Launcher)

Second one is system-settings -> Shortcuts -> Custom Shortcuts (Section
KMenuEdit)

In my example above (see kglobalshortcutrc) xournal is listed in the first
place, but not in the second. It seems however, that some of the older entries
are listed in both locations. Is this related to the problem?

I dont know, the technical differences.

SUMMARY
I can't reproduce this bug consistently. Sometimes it occurs after cold boot,
sometimes after relogin, sometimes when I switch between X11 and Wayland
sessions.
New Background Services kcm indicates that no service is running despite my
system is running without any problem and nothing happens when I click on
"Start service" button of any service.

EXPECTED RESULT
Background Services kcm should always indicate the state of the services
correctly.

2020-03-18 Thread Harald Sitter
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=334618

I spoke too soon. There's half a localization infrastructure in samba and as a
result the net command is in fact not localized ...

At the same time this could change at any point so modeling net command errors
as part of the public api of ksambashare is also out of the question. So, I
guess that leaves us with a kind of inbetween. KSambaShare should grow an
errorString() that is set when a command returns a SystemError, the errorString
in turn is either parsed from the net stderr and then localized on our end or
the verbatim (unlocalized) stderr if we cannot identify the error reported in
stderr through parsing.
A bit meh

Issue seemed to be with Movit library.

I just recompiled after having removed the library from my system. I suppose I
must of had gpu acceleration enabled in settings.

Will test again later with gpu acceleration enabled and disabled.

Git commit 4caaf107f1d4f45ff28d0de1b7e7e541e5827e3a by Kai Uwe Broulik.
Committed on 18/03/2020 at 13:10.
Pushed by broulik into branch 'master'.

Use libcanberra as primary means of previewing the sound

So it matches what KNotification is doing, especially since Phonon allows
playing all sorts of files,
which would then end up not being played when the notification is emitted.

[dolphin] [Bug 418986] New: Folder and file names beginning with letters like c-cedilla, o-umlaut, s-cedilla, u-umlaut are not sorted correctly

2020-03-18 Thread Sadi
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=418986

Bug ID: 418986
Summary: Folder and file names beginning with letters like
c-cedilla, o-umlaut, s-cedilla, u-umlaut are not
sorted correctly
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 19.12.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: view-engine: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: sadiyumu...@gmail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Folder and file names are not sorting correctly when it comes to letters with
accents like c-cedilla, o-umlaut, s-cedilla, u-umlaut, etc. where system
regional settings have United States English.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go to (or create) a folder where there are a number of folders/files
beginning with different letters (e.g. where folders and files are sorted in
ascending order)
2. Create some new folders/files beginning with letters c-cedilla, o-umlaut,
s-cedilla, u-umlaut, etc.

OBSERVED RESULT
All of these folders and files are sorted after the letter Z. This doesn't
change even when the language specified for "Collating and Sorting" under
"System Settings / Regional Settings / Formats" is not English, but a language
that actually includes these letters in its alphabet.

EXPECTED RESULT
They should actually be sorted after each appropriate letter in the English
alphabet (C,O,S,U, etc.).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 19.10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.67.0
Qt Version: 5.12.4

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Under the same system, Krusader sorts such folders and files in correct order,
unlike Dolphin.

The bug is fixed for the new version, which is 4.3.0. (master branch on repo).
The documentation site takes the krita/4.2 branch on repo to show the users, so
I made a MR for krita/4.2 branch.
https://invent.kde.org/websites/docs-krita-org/-/merge_requests/103

Btw it's super easy to make fixes like that if you have a KDE Identity account.
You just need to go https://invent.kde.org/websites/docs-krita-org , find the
correct file and then press "Edit" and make the fix and follow the green
buttons. More detailed instruction here:
