[plasmashell] [Bug 421949] New: Battery Applet in Systray Missing
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421949 Bug ID: 421949 Summary: Battery Applet in Systray Missing Product: plasmashell Version: 5.18.90 Platform: openSUSE RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Battery Monitor Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de Reporter: dashonww...@pm.me CC: plasma-b...@kde.org Target Milestone: 1.0 SUMMARY Updated TUmbleweed after a fix for systemsettings5, so far so good except the battery applet that lives in the systray is no longer present. I tried setting it to always show to see if that would fix it, but it still doesn't show itself. Tried manually adding the widget thinking something had been deleted. It doesn't show anything and instead tells me I have no battery. Although I am still able to toggle powersaving mode which is all I needed I thought I would report this anyway. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Add the kde stable repos to openSuse Tumbleweed. 2. Update to latest versions after a zypper dup to change packages over to kde repos. 3. Boot up plasma. OBSERVED RESULT No battery icon in systray or it's drop down menu like usual. EXPECTED RESULT Battery icon should show in systray for the corresponding applet like it used to. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. balooctl monitor 2. balooctl purge 3. OBSERVED RESULT Please see the attached output of baloo monitor showing all files indexed immediately after a baloo purge command is issued. EXPECTED RESULT That the result of balooctl status (5,778) would be identical to those items displayed in balooctl monitor (5,317) and the total number of files on the disks as reported by Dolphin>Properties (5316) - variance of 1 discussed below. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Qt Version: 5.12.8 Baloo Version: 5.68.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 1/ I have performed a full reconcilation of the balooctl monitor output (attached) against the entire database and only found 1 entry which should not have been indexed - Indexing: /media/data/disk01/snapraid.content.lock: Ok based on the entries in baloofilerc 2/ In addition to the above reconciliation I have reconciled those with the Plex database used to play the files and it reconciles as well. 3/ Dolphin Properties of the entire array returns 5,316 files the above file ( /media/data/disk01/snapraid.content.lock) which is 0 bytes being the difference. 4/ I am not aware of how to reconcile what the database actually contains with anything because I cannot find a way to see the database contents, so I don't can't account for the 8% difference (462 files). 5/ The entire array, including hidden files, 11 disks, only has media files in it except for lost & found in each disk, 1 trash and every 2nd disk has a content file. So there just are not as many files on the disk array as are reported as being indexed in the baloo database via the command balooctl status. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[frameworks-baloo] [Bug 420939] Baloo purge not completing
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420939 --- Comment #15 from Scott --- 1/ You have already mentioned my spelling error in comment and, not surprisingly, I have acknowledged it. 2/ I feel the command is not terminating because the terminal is not returned to the prompt as is normal. The expected behaviour of balooctl purge is to purge the database and return to the prompt. I agree that the terminal will normally display some message(s) regarding the program that has been started before displaying the prompt at termination of that program. What it actually does is purge the database and then display what I assume to be the results of another process, some form of baloo indexing and at the end of the indexing the prompt is not returned. I assume that whatever it is doing it is waiting for some kind of indexing related input/activity - nothing to do with the purge command. 3/ I will address the file indexing issue separately. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kcms/nightcolour] Reset needsSave after loading initial QML properties Sequence of events is: 1) KCModule::showEvent() 2) this queues up a load and queues up a KCModule::changed(false) 3) during load ConfigModule::setNeedsSave(true) is called we set d->_needsSave to true 4) we emit ConfigModule::changed(true) which we proxy through to KCModule::changed(true) 5) we then process the queued KCModule::setChanged(false) from the earlier KCModule::showEvent 6) so we disable the button 7) any subsequent changes in the KCM will call ConfigModule::setNeedsSave(true) but this now matches d->_needsSave so it no-ops. Even though KCModule is out of sync. Systemsettings only knows what KCModule signals, not ConfigModule. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420939 Stefan Brüns changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |WAITINGFORINFO Status|REPORTED|NEEDSINFO --- Comment #14 from Stefan Brüns --- So, going through your complaints ... > 1/ So even this simple process does not work properly because I get error > that the command cannot be found. I assume we agree this a bug? Obviously not a bug, you spelled it wrong, and it notifies you about it. 5/ I also consider it a bug that the purge command despite not terminating then goes on to, I assume, display to the terminal what is being indexed. What makes you think the *command* has not completed? When you start a program from the command line, its output is directed to the terminal. That is standard behavior, not a bug. For me, the "balooctl purge" commands completes immediately when baloo is idle, and after a few seconds when it is currently busy. You still have not listed any specific files which should be indexed and are not. You do not provide the paths of files not indexed, you do not provide the files itself. The config file without any context is pointless. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402875 --- Comment #11 from Martin Dratva --- I am not sure if I understand here correctly. I have checked details on this and according to this documentation: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Desktop_notifications#Notification_servers FreeDesktop Notifications should be working on my desktop correctly. I have libnotify and Cinnamon should support that out of the box. I can confirm that it indeed works when I do: notify-send 'Hello world!' I do get an notification, Works fine. I also get notifications from other apps regularly. But according to the linked specification on Gnome site it is simple notification and I have never seen one to display progress bar. Should the progress bar be displayed in that notification? Has Krusader switched to such a notification instead of it's own window? Because as I wrote above, I get the window, just not as a separate one. I apologize for the confusion, but I am trying to figure what to ask at my DE/Distro forums, because I think that FreeDesktop Notifications work just fine on my computer. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[krita] [Bug 421881] animation preview not working

[valgrind] [Bug 421931] New: Enhance valgrind to supress unfreed stderr.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421931 Bug ID: 421931 Summary: Enhance valgrind to supress unfreed stderr. Product: valgrind Version: 3.15 SVN Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: jsew...@acm.org Reporter: car...@redhat.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY In glibc the __libc_freeres() function which handles freeing all resources for allocation trackers, will not free unbuffered streams. We don't free unbuffered streams because users may expect to continue using them throughout all of the process shutdown steps. As such, when you use stderr in your program it creates a leak that can be seen by users. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create leak.c #include #include int main ( void ) { fwprintf ( stderr , L"valgrind error\n" ) ; return 0 ; } 2. Compile. 3. Run with valgrind --leak-check=full --show-leak-kinds=all OBSERVED RESULT valgrind --leak-check=full --show-leak-kinds=all ./leak ==258071== Memcheck, a memory error detector ==258071== Copyright (C) 2002-2017, and GNU GPL'd, by Julian Seward et al. ==258071== Using Valgrind-3.15.0 and LibVEX; rerun with -h for copyright info ==258071== Command: ./leak ==258071== valgrind error ==258071== ==258071== HEAP SUMMARY: ==258071== in use at exit: 5,120 bytes in 2 blocks ==258071== total heap usage: 2 allocs, 0 frees, 5,120 bytes allocated ==258071== ==258071== 1,024 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 1 of 2 ==258071==at 0x483A809: malloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:309) ==258071==by 0x4907FC3: _IO_file_doallocate (filedoalloc.c:101) ==258071==by 0x490940C: _IO_wfile_doallocate (wfiledoalloc.c:70) ==258071==by 0x4916D1F: _IO_doallocbuf (genops.c:347) ==258071==by 0x4916D1F: _IO_doallocbuf (genops.c:342) ==258071==by 0x490FBBF: _IO_wfile_overflow (wfileops.c:429) ==258071==by 0x490D22E: __woverflow (wgenops.c:217) ==258071==by 0x490D22E: _IO_wdefault_xsputn (wgenops.c:317) ==258071==by 0x490D22E: _IO_wdefault_xsputn (wgenops.c:284) ==258071==by 0x490FDF0: _IO_wfile_xsputn (wfileops.c:1011) ==258071==by 0x490FDF0: _IO_wfile_xsputn (wfileops.c:957) ==258071==by 0x4906BC1: buffered_vfprintf (vfprintf-internal.c:2388) ==258071==by 0x4903E4B: __vfwprintf_internal (vfprintf-internal.c:1346) ==258071==by 0x490C439: fwprintf (fwprintf.c:33) ==258071==by 0x401152: main (leak.c:9) ==258071== ==258071== 4,096 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 2 of 2 ==258071==at 0x483A809: malloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:309) ==258071==by 0x49093DC: _IO_wfile_doallocate (wfiledoalloc.c:79) ==258071==by 0x4916D1F: _IO_doallocbuf (genops.c:347) ==258071==by 0x4916D1F: _IO_doallocbuf (genops.c:342) ==258071==by 0x490FBBF: _IO_wfile_overflow (wfileops.c:429) ==258071==by 0x490D22E: __woverflow (wgenops.c:217) ==258071==by 0x490D22E: _IO_wdefault_xsputn (wgenops.c:317) ==258071==by 0x490D22E: _IO_wdefault_xsputn (wgenops.c:284) ==258071==by 0x490FDF0: _IO_wfile_xsputn (wfileops.c:1011) ==258071==by 0x490FDF0: _IO_wfile_xsputn (wfileops.c:957) ==258071==by 0x4906BC1: buffered_vfprintf (vfprintf-internal.c:2388) ==258071==by 0x4903E4B: __vfwprintf_internal (vfprintf-internal.c:1346) ==258071==by 0x490C439: fwprintf (fwprintf.c:33) ==258071==by 0x401152: main (leak.c:9) ==258071== ==258071== LEAK SUMMARY: ==258071==definitely lost: 0 bytes in 0 blocks ==258071==indirectly lost: 0 bytes in 0 blocks ==258071== possibly lost: 0 bytes in 0 blocks ==258071==still reachable: 5,120 bytes in 2 blocks ==258071== suppressed: 0 bytes in 0 blocks ==258071== ==258071== For lists of detected and suppressed errors, rerun with: -s ==258071== ERROR SUMMARY: 0 errors from 0 contexts (suppressed: 0 from 0) EXPECTED RESULT - Given that stderr might be used a lot by developers we could enhance valgrind to try supress unfreed unbuffered stderr at process exit. - For a high QoI we would supress all unfreed unbuffered streams since the expectation, at least in glibc, is that none of these are freed with __libc_freeres() because the could continue to be used during process shutdown. Committed on 21/05/2020 at 12:44. Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'. Don't duplicate error messages in a passive notification We already show error messages properly in a non-passive popup, and so it is just a little silly to also show them in a passive notification. [systemsettings] [Bug 421929] New: Launching independent KCMs now acts over existing systemsettings instance
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421929 Bug ID: 421929 Summary: Launching independent KCMs now acts over existing systemsettings instance Product: systemsettings Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: bluescreenaven...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY This is a recent master build. It seems that you can't start a KCM outside of SystemSettings anymore, without your existing instance of SystemSettings getting changed. Notably if you try to right click "Configure Network Connections" off the NetworkManager plasmoid, if you are working in another KCM in SystemSettings STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. In systemsettings, open up a KCM, like "Application Style" 2. Make an un-applied settings change, like clicking on a theme without pressing "apply" 3. Go to the NetworkManager icon, right click "Configure Network Connections" 4. Observe that instead of starting a new instance, the current instance gets taken over. Sometimes 5. Also, If you hit "Cancel" when it prompts you to save changes, it changes KCMs anyway. EXPECTED RESULT This must be the change to give a full instance of SystemSettings when you launch an independent KCM. Personally though I think it might be better to start a second instance, rather than have it unexpectedly interrupt another instance of systemsettings5.
