[Phonon] [Bug 427192] New: Phonon 4.11.1 break Intel 200 Series PCH HD Audio

2020-09-30 Thread Brooks Knight
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427192

Bug ID: 427192
   Summary: Phonon 4.11.1 break Intel 200 Series PCH HD Audio
   Product: Phonon
   Version: 4.11.1
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: sit...@kde.org
  Reporter: cyb3r.kn1...@gmail.com
CC: myr...@kde.org, romain.per...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I run KDE Neon 5.19 and after installing the latest Phonon
4:4.11.1-4+20.04+focal+build7 I no longer had sound in my headphones due to
them only being recognized as Digital Stereo ICE958 device. Even with Digital
Stereo ICE958 + Analog Stereo Duplex I had no sound. I reverted the package
back to 4:4.11.1-4+20.04+focal+build6 and now the sounds works again, I can set
the device correctly as Analog Stereo Duplex.

Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide to help
debug.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a Intel 200 Series PCH HD Audio device
2. Install phonon4qt5:amd64 4:4.11.1-4+20.04+focal+build7
3. Log out and back in

OBSERVED RESULT
Sound will no longer work in headphones plugged into back audio jack.

EXPECTED RESULT
Sound works in headphones plugged into back audio jack.

2020-09-30 Thread Dave
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427191

Bug ID: 427191
   Summary: bad config for kscreen causes lots of things to
coredump
   Product: KScreen
   Version: 5.18.5
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: common
  Assignee: kscreen-bugs-n...@kde.org

SUMMARY

kwin_wayland, plasmashell, org_kde_powerde, kactivitymanage, kglobalaccel5,
kwalletd5 shouldn't all coredump in this case, and should exit gracefully.
possibly wait until the screen config is applied to start all these services
and fail faster.

if the kscreen config is invalid it should have some input validation and
either back out the config (leaving it in someplace safe to review) and revert
to a default

log that there is a problem with the display adapters.

[LabPlot2] [Bug 427190] New: pinebook labplot2 inability to produce any fitting analysis and xy curve from a mathematical equation

2020-09-30 Thread Awangku
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427190

Bug ID: 427190
   Summary: pinebook labplot2 inability to produce any fitting
analysis and xy curve from a mathematical equation
   Product: LabPlot2
   Version: 2.8.0
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: alexander.se...@web.de
  Reporter: junaidi...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In pinebook manjaro, updated to the latest stable updates, the inability to
produce any fitting analysis and plotting xy curve from a mathematical equation
shows that they both should stem from the same problem.

Although during fitting, the log says that it was successful, there's no such
fitting drawn on the graph of said data. This problem was repeated successfully
each time.

I've double check the dependencies on the file and double check with
requirements on compiling labplot2, however did not try to compile it myself
since i'm just a regular linux user and haven't dabbled with the deeper stuff.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. run labplot2 in pinebook
2. input any data from any dataset collection
3. plot the graph successfully
4. attempt to fit data linearly, realize that although fitting logs says that
it was successful, there's nothing added to the graph.
5. attempt to create xy plot from mathematical equation, the input box remains
red and the recalculate button remains greyed out, therefore impossible to
plot.

OBSERVED RESULT
no fitting line and no xy curve from mathematical equation successfully drawn
on graph

EXPECTED RESULT
fitting line and xy curve from mathematical equation drawn on graph, alongside
raw data

Looks like I was wrong about that, apparently xdg-decoration spec says:
> [...] clients are responsible for preventing configure loops and
> must make sure not to send multiple successive set_mode requests
> with the same decoration mode.

On the Chrome side they have fixed the excessive calls (should be in next
release), this ticket can be closed, resolved as "not a bug" on the KDE side.

2020-09-30 Thread Christian Gagneraud
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407258

--- Comment #2 from Christian Gagneraud  ---
Hi,

Is there any plan to merge clazy in clang-tidy?

I don't have any plan to work on the issue #407258 unfortunately.

As a user of both tools, i find clang-tidy to be easier to use and integrate
(eg CI), for example run-clang-tidy allows to run checks in parallel, something
that not even clazy-standalone provides.

IMHO, merging clazy in clang-tidy would make the user happier and will lessen
the maintenance and improvement (catching up with clang-tid) burden.

--- Comment #6 from Alexander Popel  ---
Hmm, I just realized that there will be really annoying problem with such
approach. As notification would be considered critical, it won't time out. This
means that when I'm watching a video or a movie and receive a notification that
I don't need to react to immediately, it won't go away by itself. I'll have to
reach to my mouse and close it manually which is really inconvenient. Guess the
fix won't be this simple :(

Probably doesn't have a QPA for desktop theme integration.

Please ask in users forums how to configure Qt icon themes via qt5ct.

Unless Okular developers want to workaround this, I suggest to resolve as a

[digikam] [Bug 427183] New: Use database (and thumbs) for 'volatile' local storage (like a git-annex repository)

2020-09-30 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427183

Bug ID: 427183
   Summary: Use database (and thumbs) for 'volatile' local storage
(like a git-annex repository)
   Product: digikam
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Database-Sqlite
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: a...@disroot.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Dear digiKam-team,

thanks a lot for your work on digiKam - it's an awesome piece of software!
Never the less I'd love an additional feature to be implemented (or maybe it is
and I just wasn't able to find it - in this case please point me to a how-to).

SUMMARY
I have a lot of images. I have them inside a git-annex repository (see
https://git-annex.branchable.com/) which allows me to back them up easily and
at the same time keep the links and the structure inside my folder system,
since git-annex allows to replace actual binary files (read: images) with
symlinks to an empty file (the concept is strange, but extremely powerful, see
e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgVXg0eRws4).

When using digiKam and the images are there, everything works fine. But as
soon as I replace the images with symlinks, I'm no longer able to see my image
thumbnails - and I assume that this should be possible since the thumbnails are
stored within the SQlite database.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. point a 'local collection' to a git-annex repository
2. remove the local files (so that only the symlinks are kept)
3. open digiKam

OBSERVED RESULT
The files are missing from the collection.

EXPECTED RESULT
The thumbnails should be available (since they are stored in the local
database.

SUMMARY

I set the "Window Placement" option ("System Settings" > "Window Management" >

some update it stopped working for me: some applications (KWrite, Dolphin,
Konsole, KSysGuard) open in the same position in which they were closed and
ignore this option. If this is not a bug, but a feature, then how can I disable
this behavior?

After additional testing, it's putting your PC to sleep itself that disables
the NVMe drive. Ignore my first comment.

SUMMARY
Putting your PC to sleep and/or rebooting disables the NVMe drive, as well as
messes with the lock screen and monitoring widgets.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin.
2. Put PC to sleep, then wake.
3. Observe Dolphin again.
4. Reboot PC.
5. Observe Dolphin again.

OBSERVED RESULT
NVMe drive disappears from not only Dolphin, but the built in partition manager
as well, and is completely disabled, even in BIOS. The lock screen turns white,
and resource monitoring widgets are messed with. This can be fixed by simply
removing the weather widget, then rebooting your PC.

--- Comment #7 from Francis Herne  ---
Thank you for the detailed explanation, now I see what's happened.

Also, it's a documentation (or at least a don't-use-it-that-way) issue. :D

When you create the new project 'ex', it creates a new directory `test/ex/` as
the project root.

Because `test/junk.cpp` is outside that directory, it isn't part of the
project.

The "Classes" view only shows classes from open projects (my last comment
"there's no case where..." was wrong...), so doesn't show those from
`junk.cpp`.

If you want to import a project with existing files, you shouldn't use "New
from Template". Instead use "Open/Import Project" and select the existing
directory -- if the buildsystem isn't supported, there will be a 'Custom Build
System' option where you can enter the relevant configure/build commands
manually.

Resolving as no immediate bug -- we might want to consider adding classes from
open non-project files to the toolview, and/or making sure the manual is clear.

[plasmashell] [Bug 427175] New: "Remove all" button does nothing when Disks & Devices applet is showing non-removable devices

2020-09-30 Thread Patrick Silva
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427175

Bug ID: 427175
   Summary: "Remove all" button does nothing when Disks & Devices
applet is showing non-removable devices
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.19.90
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Device Notifier
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: bugsefor...@gmx.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. have two or more partitions of internal devices on your system
2. open Disks & Devices systray applet
3. open "Show" combobox on top and choose "Non-removable devices" ("Remove all"
button is available despite all listed devices are non-removable)
4. click on "Remove all" button

OBSERVED RESULT
nothing happens

EXPECTED RESULT
I do not know the purpose of this "Remove all" button. Unmount all
non-removable devices?
If so, it's not working and its label is inaccurate. If we do not want to
unmount non-removable devices, then should not exist a "Remove all" button when
Disks & Devices applet is only showing non-removable devices.

[kdevelop] [Bug 427050] The classes toolview does not work--no classes displayed

2020-09-30 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427050

--- Comment #6 from kdbase-kde...@yahoo.com ---
I have reproduced the problem. I'll explain how here, and then I'll explain
how it happened to me.

1. Create a new directory, for example 'test'.

2. Copy the file 'junk.cpp' into the directory. I just tried uploading the
file as an attachment, but I'm not sure it uploaded it correctly. Since the
file is short, I'll place the contents here:

---
// Sample file

#include

struct junk {
  long a;
  double b;
  junk() {
a = 2;
b = 3.5;
  }
  void out() const {
std::cout << "a = " << a << ", b = " << b << '\n';
  }
};

int main()
{
  junk j0;
  j0.out();
  j0.b *= 3;
  j0.out();
  return 0;
}
---

3. Open kdevelop. From the menu bar, choose 'New from Template...' under
'Project'. Choose 'Standard' Category, 'Empty' Project Type. You can probably
place the project anywhere, but I chose to place it in the test/ directory. I
named the project 'ex'.

4. Open the newly created project 'ex'. It contains no files. Using the 'File
System' tab on the left, or maybe using the 'File' menu, open the file
'junk.cpp'.

5. This re-creates the problem. The junk.cpp file is in the editor. If you
click on the Classes tab, the junk struct is not present. Within the editor,
however, you can access the information about variables and objects. For
example, you can hover over the 'out' on line 20, or the 'b' on line 21. At
least, this is the behavior I observe.

How did this happen to me? In my case, I had an existing project that used
meson. At first, as Francis guessed, kdevelop did not support meson. When it
was added later, I couldn't figure out how to use it, although I didn't try
very hard. There was (and is, I think) no template to create a new meson
project, so I chose the Empty Project Type and added the source files
afterwards.

I hope this is clear. Please let me know if you have questions.

I tested last Okular release from
https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Okular_Release_win64/

I created a folder with an image, I created a link to the folder.
I opened Okular, open the file from the link and it displayed fine.
So looks good to me.

I didn't find any installer for Gwenview on Windows so I can't test for it.

I'll add another use case here.

The difftool Meld can compare 2 or 3 files, so a service menu reflecting that
must currently be implemented as two separate services: meld-2 and meld-3

As far as I understand, anyway.

subfolder with the images, nothing is shown.
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.1.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Albums-MainView
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: spamar...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When clicking on the parent folder that has multiple subfolder with the images,
nothing is shown. I have to click on the actual folder which houses the images
to see all the images in thumbnail view.

Is there any way to, for example, click the main collection/album and have it
show every image inside every folder? So example:
Albums > Trip 1 > Day 1 > *Images*
Albums > Trip 1 > Day 2 > *Images*
Albums > Trip 1 > Day 3 > *Images*

If I click on "Trip 1" it will show me the images from folders Day 1-3. Right
now I can only click on Day 1 to see those pictures, Day 2, and onwards. I
can't see every picture from Trip 1, for example.

[i18n] [Bug 427172] New: Some texts in the window's specific preferences dialog appear untranslated

2020-09-30 Thread Eloy Cuadra
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427172

Bug ID: 427172
   Summary: Some texts in the window's specific preferences dialog
appear untranslated
   Product: i18n
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: aa...@kde.org
  Reporter: ecua...@eloihr.net
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

If you click the right mouse button on the title bar of any window and select
the option "More actions -> Configure special window preferences", the dialog
that appears shows some texts untranslated into the user's language. Texts for
the radio buttons "Yes" and "No", the buttons "Add Properties" and "Detect
Window Properties" at the bottom, and the texts "Instantly" and "After X
seconds" appear in English. But if you go to the System Settings, "Workspace"
section, "Window management -> Window rules", the same texts appear fully
translated into the user's language.

Tested in Spanish and Catalan, but I guess this issue affects all languages.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click the right mouse button on the title bar of any window in Plasma.
2. Select "More Actions -> Configure Special Window Settings..."

OBSERVED RESULT
Some text are not translated in the dialog that appear.

EXPECTED RESULT
All text should be translated in that dialog.

Yes, typically based on my own use: I have a folder named "System" on my home
folder where i put system or applications related resources (could be pics for
screensaver slideshow, ebook library, or some other geeky admin documents...)
System related, but not really Settings like a .config folder can be.
