Can confirm relatively high CPU usage (showing 6% instead of nothing in
systemmonitor.
Also framerate breaks down from 120 frames to under 100 with sometimes even
under 50 fps which is clearly visible mostly when using the virtual desktop
overview with 4 virtual desktops showing side by side.

[lattedock] [Bug 427617] New: "Dodge Maximized" Panels/Docks don't/should dodge full screen windows as well, even if they aren't otherwise maximized.

2020-10-12 Thread Alex Torma
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427617

Bug ID: 427617
   Summary: "Dodge Maximized" Panels/Docks don't/should dodge full
screen windows as well, even if they aren't otherwise
maximized.
   Product: lattedock
   Version: git (master)
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: mvourla...@gmail.com
  Reporter: alex.j.to...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
"Dodge Maximized" Option ignores fullscreen windows that are otherwise not
maximized. This causes issues particularly when making videos in web browsers
full screen, as the video is full screen but the app isn't maximized so Latte
doesn't dodge.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create new dock, set to "Dodge Maximized"
2. Open web browser *NOT MAXIMIZED*
3. Go to youtube.com
4. Play a video
5. Make the video full screen (double click or bottom right corner)

OBSERVED RESULT
Docks don't dodge the full screen video

EXPECTED RESULT
Docks treat full screen windows like maximized windows and dodge/autohide

On my Ubuntu-based system I just got an update for the proprietary Nvidia
driver. After restarting the OS, 3D acceleration in flatpak apps is broken,
because apparently, flatpak-update only updates the Nvidia driver that is
currently in use.

2020-10-12 Thread José Pekkarinen

Bug ID: 427615
   Summary: [Feature Request] Jack-audio-connection-kit suppot
   Product: Falkon
   Version: 3.1.0
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: now...@gmail.com
  Reporter: koali...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Hi,

I regularly build my gentoo without pulseaudio, just alsa+jack. In
later updates I noticed falkon can't reproduce any audio this way,
nor any input works when I need to do some remote conference. I fail
to remember if I used only alsa a while ago when I knew it worked,
but I doubt it would be the case, as that wouldn't let me use other
software using sound at the same time. Other software like mumble
play nice with jack directly.

(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74
Qt Version: 5.15.1

Thanks!

José Pekkarinen.

--- Comment #26 from Jonas  ---
(A variation of) the problem still exists for me (Kubuntu 20.04, okular 1.9.3).
More precisely, trim margins stops working if I set a background color, and
then disable the background color feature again. After setting the background
color, okularpartrc contains a block like this:

[Document]
ChangeColors=true
PaperColor=202,254,78
RenderMode=Paper

With background color set, trim margins is still working.
After disabling the background color again, this block changes to

[Document]
PaperColor=202,254,78
RenderMode=Paper

and trim margin stops working after restarting okular. Deleting the block (or
just the PaperColor line) solves the problem.

2020-10-12 Thread Mark Calabretta

   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

After upgrading to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, reboot goes to the GRUB2 command line with
no indication of why the boot failed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Upgrade from Neon User Edition 5.19 to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS using the
instructions provided at https://community.kde.org/Neon/FocalUpgrades
2. Reboot (as normal part of the upgrade).

OBSERVED RESULT

Reboot fails, dropping back to GRUB2 command line.

EXPECTED RESULT

Normal reboot.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: 5.4.0-48-generic
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.75,0
Qt Version: 5.15.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Architecture: x86_64
Dell Latitude E6530.

GRUB2 package versions (from dpkg -l):
grub-efi  2.04-1ubuntu26.4
grub-efi-amd642.04-1ubuntu26.4
grub-efi-amd64-bin2.04-1ubuntu26.4
grub-efi-amd64-signed 1.142.6+2.04-1ubuntu26.4

At the GRUB command line, 'echo $prefix' reports /EFI/ubuntu.
Running 'strings -a' on /boot/efi/EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI confirms that this
string is hardcoded into the executable. Likewise, for
/boot/efi/EFI/neon/grubx64.efi. Both are copies of
/usr/lib/grub/x86_64-efi-signed/grubx64.efi.signed from the
grub-efi-amd64-signed package.

The /EFI/ubuntu directory does not exist, instead replaced by /EFI/neon.

Re-running 'grub-install' did not fix the problem.

At the GRUB command line, the following effected the boot:
  set prefix=($root)'/EFI/neon'
  configfile $prefix/grub.cfg

I have implemented a workaround by creating /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/ and copying
over grub.cfg and grubx64.efi from /boot/efi/EFI/neon/.

[frameworks-kirigami] [Bug 427612] New: Sometimes all ShadowedRectangles in an area receive the same hovered state from a single control

2020-10-12 Thread Noah Davis
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427612

Bug ID: 427612
   Summary: Sometimes all ShadowedRectangles in an area receive
the same hovered state from a single control
   Product: frameworks-kirigami
   Version: Master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: notm...@gmail.com
  Reporter: noaha...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: Not decided

Created attachment 132310
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=132310=edit
All buttons get the hover outline

SUMMARY
When controls appear to be somehow grouped together, ShadowedRectangles that
they are all using sometimes all receive the same data from only one of the
controls. For instance, one button/switch/checkbox/radio button might become
hovered, causing all buttons/switches/checkboxes/radio buttons to get the hover
effect. See attached screenshot #1.

I think this may be a ShadowedRectangle issue because this doesn't happen when
I use a plain Qt Quick Rectangle instead.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Assuming you're using a kdesrc-build environment with the folder located at
~/kde, run the following commands:

```bash
git clone https://invent.kde.org/ndavis/qqc2-breeze-style.git -b
work/ndavis/hovered-state-bug ~/kde/src/ndavis/qqc2-breeze-style
cd ~/kde/src/ndavis/qqc2-breeze-style
mkdir -p ~/kde/build/ndavis/qqc2-breeze-style
cmake -S ~/kde/src/ndavis/qqc2-breeze-style -B
~/kde/build/ndavis/qqc2-breeze-style -DCMAKE_EXPORT_COMPILE_COMMANDS=1
-DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=RelWithDebInfo -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=~/kde/usr -GNinja
ninja -C ~/kde/build/ndavis/qqc2-breeze-style install
source ~/kde/build/ndavis/qqc2-breeze-style/prefix.sh
QT_QUICK_CONTROLS_STYLE=org.kde.breeze kirigami2gallery
```

2. Go to "List View with Cards"

3. Hover over the button on the top card and see all buttons get the hover
outline

4. Go to ~/kde/src/ndavis/qqc2-breeze-style and run the following commands:

```bash
cp -f ~/kde/src/ndavis/qqc2-breeze-style/style/impl/ButtonBackground.new.qml
~/kde/src/ndavis/qqc2-breeze-style/style/impl/ButtonBackground.qml
ninja -C ~/kde/build/ndavis/qqc2-breeze-style install
source ~/kde/build/ndavis/qqc2-breeze-style/prefix.sh
QT_QUICK_CONTROLS_STYLE=org.kde.breeze kirigami2gallery
```

5. Go to "List View with Cards"

6. Hover over the button on the top card and see only that button get the hover
outline

OBSERVED RESULT
All buttons using ShadowedRectangle get the hover outline when hovered

EXPECTED RESULT
Only the hovered button should get the hover outline

For the record I have determined that kdiff3 fails to clear the existing path
on drag and drop. Thus if done a first launch it should work fine. However,
after this the new path is appended to the previous one. Does drag and drop
work when the file path the target field is cleared?

Have found a simple enough shell-based workaround for now which can be attached
to a keyboard shortcut if desired. A new wallpaper is selected when you change
the SlideInterval config item, so quickly changing it (then back again) via
dbus does the job fine:

I can sympathize, and making KDE software mode regular-user friendly is of
great importance to me!

Sounds like your whole OS is kind of messed up. Are you trying to install KDE
packages on top of Ubuntu? Instead, I would recommend just using Kubuntu form
the start. You'll have a much better experience. :)

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427500

--- Comment #2 from Primary  ---
Then either there is another issue with the error report or that is another
issue with the nubie friendliness issue. In my experience so far I know and
can just find enough information to get myself into real deep trouble(as
opposed to shallow trouble).

What I can tell about the problem is the issue only began after I
experienced a crash that would allow a login but no access to the
filesystem at all. I couldn't even get a terminal emulator(a
black-screen-of-death). I couldn't even send a crash report at all. I
reinstalled the entire OS, and the desktop gui would be generic place
holders until after I clicked on them.

I'm a windows 10 refugee(with no real technical skills(beyond an ability to
get into trouble), is there any way I help with making KDE more nubie
friendly?

[kwin] [Bug 427610] New: [REGRESSION] Window placement policy doesn't work at all

2020-10-12 Thread Qu Wenruo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427610

Bug ID: 427610
   Summary: [REGRESSION] Window placement policy doesn't work at
all
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.19.5
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: core
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: quwenruo.bt...@gmx.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
After upgrading to 5.19.5 kwin, the window placement policy seems not working
any more for multi-monitor setup.
No matter whatever policy I specify, the new window (in my case, konsole) is
always placed at the same position, killing the meaning of "minimal
overlapping" policy

Strangely, with the same Archlinux setup on my laptop, even with extra display
attached, the window placement policy seems work completely fine.

The not yet updated packages in the laptop seems to be plasma-framwork 5.75.x
related packages. The same qt5 and the same kwin is installed on both systems.

So maybe it's a config related problem.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install the latest KDE5 from Arch repo
2. Make sure the "minimal overlap" window placement policy is already selected
3. Launch several konsole instances to test the policy

OBSERVED RESULT
All new konsole instances are placed beyond each other, definitely not
following
the window placement policy.

EXPECTED RESULT
All new konsole instances are placed with minimal overlap.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.75.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
KDE frameworks version 5.74 works fine.

[kwin] [Bug 426293] All my Qt clients die when I disconnect my display

2020-10-12 Thread Lewis Lakerink
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426293

--- Comment #8 from Lewis Lakerink  ---
Just to double check, MR!98 is for a version of Qt (5.15.3) that isn't even on
the Qt release schedule yet?

I have the latest stable Qt release, QT 5.15.1 installed, and this patch is
just a noop for that version. I tried changing the version check in your diff
to 5.15.1, but kwin just crashes when removing a monitor.

I'm super keen to try out this diff, and I'm happy to upgrade to an unstable Qt
to do so if required, but wanted to check.

Does that mean this bug could take a while to land a fix for since we'll be
waiting for upstream Qt?

Thank you for your time looking in to this issue!

This is becoming possible. In Plasma 5.20, we fixed (almost) all of the KCMs'

have a central action that triggers that action for all KCMs.

--- Comment #5 from Nate Graham  ---
I can reproduce the bug. What's going on in this case is that the search
results are returning only a category and no KCMs. And the category is
disabled, as all categories in the search view are.

The bug seems to be that if the only matched item is a category, and no KCMs
matched the search, we display the disabled category anyway instead of the
"Nothing found" message.

We kinda have this in Info Center now. It shows existing shares, but doesn't
let you set them up from there.

Can confirm, and seems like an issue with icon view. The icons themselves are
scaling more/less than the window itself is!

[systemsettings] [Bug 419816] Audio setting profile empty

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419816

--- Comment #5 from Rajinder Yadav  ---
It is still happening with my FiiO BTR 5 device which connects via USB. I just
woke my PC from sleep, my device is not detected. I always have to un-plug,
plug in device.

If I use regular headphones, when I plug them into the headphone jack, I get no
audio also and I don't see anything appear in the audio setting to allow me to
select it.

I am on KDE Plasma 5.19.5
