[kolourpaint] [Bug 432599] New: crop image to cm

2021-02-06 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432599

Bug ID: 432599
   Summary: crop image to cm
   Product: kolourpaint
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kolourpaint-supp...@lists.sourceforge.net
  Reporter: solot...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
crop lets one specify pixels. can kolourpaint please let specify cm as well.
kolorpaint would then resize the image to that dimension, and offer a box to
cut of the smaller side. say the image is 5x5, on resize to 4.5x3.5 it would
resize it to 4.5x4.5 and offer a box to cut to 3.5.

[marble] [Bug 432598] New: Marble uses ws.geonames.org, which is gone, should use api.geonames.org

2021-02-06 Thread Kevin Kofler
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432598

Bug ID: 432598
Summary: Marble uses ws.geonames.org, which is gone, should use
api.geonames.org
   Product: marble
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
   URL: https://www.geonames.org/export/ws-overview.html
OS: All
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: marble-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: kevin.kof...@chello.at
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The geonames-based Marble plugins, such as the Wikipedia one, use the
ws.geonames.org server. But that domain appears to be gone. As a result, the
services do not work.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start Marble.
2. Enable the Wikipedia service.

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing happens.

EXPECTED RESULT
Wikipedia buttons start showing up.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
I use Fedora 32, but it should not matter. All branches of Marble use the same
obsolete URL.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
According to:
https://www.geonames.org/export/ws-overview.html
the services use api.geonames.org now.

[kwin] [Bug 432574] kwin_wayland master (drm backend) on qxl tries to fall back to XRender, and then segfaults

2021-02-06 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432574

--- Comment #1 from bluescreenaven...@gmail.com ---
It seems to not do this with the nested x11 backend oddly, but it does seem to
do this under the nested wayland backend, but the Wayland backend does NOT
print the line about falling back to Xrender.

Here it is easier to get a stack trace, and in seems to crash in
KWin::SceneOpenGL::createScene, but it's hard to copy all this out of my VM,
which booted off a live image, and I'd have to rebuild it with kwin symbols...

[plasmashell] [Bug 432593] New: Battery indicator gone until plasma restart

2021-02-06 Thread Bernhard
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432593

Bug ID: 432593
Summary: Battery indicator gone until plasma restart
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.20.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Battery Monitor
  Assignee: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Reporter: micraf...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 135475
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=135475=edit
log of plasmashell

SUMMARY
Sometimes after booting the battery indicator is just not there. It's not
hidden in the overflow menu, no - it's just gone until I run `plasmashell
--replace`.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Boot laptop
2. Obverse missing battery applet

Happens about twice a week or after ~10-20 reboots, not sure if it can be
'provoked' to happen.
upower does not seem to report anything out of the ordinary:
https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/mYDhymnqNr/

In this particular instance it may only have happened after waking from
hibernate (if relevant for the log), I can't say.

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.10.13-arch1-1
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 8 × AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics
Memory: 15.1 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD RENOIR

Is there anyway I can provide more useful information?

In my case, so Bug 429835 this was locally mounted NFS filesystem (by "mount
-t nfs" command).
I open such mounted directory in Dolphin. The issue was that in Dolphin I could
not rename file whilst I was able to do it in mc, just because Dolphin says 'no
write permission'.

[plasmashell] [Bug 432592] New: System monitor Sensor widget does not work well in text only mode in a panel

2021-02-06 Thread Elias
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432592

Bug ID: 432592
Summary: System monitor Sensor widget does not work well in
text only mode in a panel
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.20.5
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: System Monitor
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: supg...@gmail.com
CC: ahiems...@heimr.nl, notm...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY

Hi, I want to see my current network up/down activity as text (something like 5
Mb/s down, 20 Kb/s up).
Luckily there is a widget called "System monitor Sensor".

It does exactly what I need. I just put it on the desktop and set it to text
only mode. It looks fine there:
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-desktop/uploads/c3f52c38887a41fdbc181d1850846f2b/image.png

However I want to see this information also while running maximized windows. So
I put the widget in my panel at the top of the screen so that is is always
visible. I also set it to display text only.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add the widget "System monitor Sensor" configured to display network
activity on a panel
2. Change the display type to text only

OBSERVED RESULT

This is what it looks like, not displaying any text, looking broken:
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-desktop/uploads/34eeabad6056af714f9f3bfa78189e63/image.png

EXPECTED RESULT

And this is how I imagine it should look like:

Note, I don't believe I ever had issues with StellarSolver. It's fast,
accurate and reliable. I wasn't aware that it was used in guiding.

Tonight is likely my last clear night, so if there's any additional logging or
sample GuideCam images, etc. that you need just let me know.

Thank you!

If you have that parameter at 4.5, then that's not the problem. No need to mess
with that. I guess I have to look further in your log...3.5.0 was when
StellarSolver got introduced, and it is used in guiding, but I thought your log
looked like it was detecting stars OK. I'll check again.

[kstars] [Bug 432546] SEP-MultiStar Broken; Loses Track of Guide Star

2021-02-06 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432546

--- Comment #4 from mountainai...@outlook.com ---
Thanks Hy!

I just checked, and I am indeed using the default of 4.5. I tend to customize
very few things, and only after testing one change at a time, and then
carefully document it. After restoring defaults (or doing a clean install of
StellarMate), I:

1. Change the algorithm to SEP Multi-star
2. Enable dithering (default values for everything)
3. Enable GPG RA guider (sorry I called it GA before, my head was in Google
Analytics)
4. Change GPG Major Period to 400
5. Uncheck Estimate Period

That's it. Is 4.5 pixels perhaps too low? I had never customized this before,
so I assume it was always this default. I can try it tonight if you can let me
know what you think. I can tell you that the guide scope was in good focus,
with a full-field HFR of something like 1.4 to 1.6 if I recall correctly.

Discover is an app meant for this purpose; you can find ShowFoto there.

However the KMoreTools functionality basically exists for this, and exists for
the purpose of letting people discover slightly related functionality in an app
itself. Perhaps it could be leveraged here.

Thanks for the report. I looked at your log. I'm wondering if the issue is
related to a bad value for the parameter in the guider settings called "Max
MultiStar HFR".

To find that, go to the guide page, then click options on the lower right, then
click on the Guide tab on the left. You should now see many options and in
particular, see that "Max MultiStar HFR" one. Do you have it set to 2 or
something like that? Could you try e.g. 4 for that?

What this parameter does is limit the HFR for the chosen guide star. In your
case, according to the log, it seems to be always choosing very low-HFR guide
stars and then losing them. This will allow it to choose more reliable stars.

Currently that parameter defaults to 4.5, but it's possible it had a different
default at some point, or that you changed its value. In any case, let us know
if this fixes things.

Not in the use case of a cloud, not wanting to give unencrypted files to the
cloud provider.

> There is no point in keeping something encrypted if the encryption key is
> easily accessible.

This is no problem since the encrypting key will only be stored on my machine
and will not be accessible by the cloud provider.

---

I use a plasma vault for encrypting my files before they are seen by the cloud
client so that it uploads the files encrypted. I do not care about locally
encrypting the files. The whole purpose of this is that the cloud provider /
server does only get encrypted versions of the files.

For this usecase storing the password unencrypted on my computer is okay. It
will not destroy the purpose of the vault and will still do the job.

> There are already better tools for this use-case. You should encrypt user's
> home directory, or better, create an encrypted /home partition.

Encrypting the /home directory will not help at all with this. (I'm already
using FDE anyway.)
The cloud client runs after user login and syncs the files it sees in its
directory. They will be unlocked at that time, even with encrypted /home. So
the cloud client would upload the unencrypted files. This would solve nothing.
Another layer in between is needed. For example by using plasma-vault ;)

---

> Vaults are meant and designed to be small encrypted containers [...] that are
> in the locked state for as much as they can be.

Yes I would want to keep them closed while not used. (I have multiple vaults on
my cloud for different things.)
This way, they eat up less memory of my machine and I'm a little more safe
against accidental changes by me.

But currently, closing and later reopening a vault is not very user friendly. I
always have to type my password, which is not very fun when your password is
mad of many random chars/symbols.
It would be much faster if I could just open/close vaults with one click.
For that, an option to remeber the password is required.

Good Evening Maik

I downloaded this file from your link.

digiKam-7.2.0-rc-20210206T180751-x86-64-debug.appimage

Which was the larger & later of the two appimages.

Unfortunately the cursor is still large and jaggedy like the others.

The appimage for v 6.4.0x86-64.appimage is the last version where the cursor
was normal (for me).

Disappointing,

kind regards

I haven't considered it myself.

Very early versions of PM had KCM but Volker Lanz removed it. I think because

[neon] [Bug 432589] New: fwupd-signed version mismatch

2021-02-06 Thread Celestino Bellone
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432589

Bug ID: 432589
   Summary: fwupd-signed version mismatch
   Product: neon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Packages User Edition
  Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: celestino.bell...@gmail.com
CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 135469
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=135469=edit
Screenshot of the error message when trying to apply the firmware updates

Hello,

I cannot update the firmware on my Lenovo T480s using secure boot, because the
right version of fwupd-signed is not available for install.

I have neon 5.20 user edition with the latest patches applied.

apt search fwupd shows:

fwupd/focal,now 1.5.3-0xneon+20.04+focal+build3 amd64 [installed]
  Firmware update daemon

fwupd-amd64-signed-template/focal,now 1.5.3-0xneon+20.04+focal+build3 amd64
[installed]
  Template for signed fwupd package

[...]

fwupd-signed/focal-updates 1.27.1ubuntu2+1.3.11-1~focal1 amd64
Linux Firmware Updater EFI signed binary

the package fwupd-signed cannot be installed because it is apparently related
to an older version of fwupd (1.27 vs 1.5.3)

I have double checked on the neon repo and I can't find the fupd-signed package
under https://origin.archive.neon.kde.org/user/pool/main/f/fwupd/

can I generate and install it somehow?

I have set the severity to major because there are two security fixes involved
which currently cannot be applied.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. try to apply firmware updates from Discover or from the terminal

OBSERVED RESULT

cannot install firmware updates, the following error is displayed:

"missing signed bootloader for secure boot:
/usr/libexec/fwupd/efi/fwupdx64.efi.signed cannot be found

EXPECTED RESULT

updates should be installed
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.20 user edition
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I have already tried to uninstall / reinstall fwupd, but this does not solve
the issue

Thank you very much for your help!

[kmix] [Bug 366533] No icon for clementine in kmix

KMix now obtains the application icon, whether it is a "KDE application" or
not, by asking for its desktop file via DBus. There are some fallback icon
names for those applications which don't provide a desktop file or icon name,
but Clementine provides this information and KMix shows the application icon
correctly.

Implemented by commit 793c07f3.

There are already better tools for this use-case. You should encrypt user's
home directory, or better, create an encrypted /home partition. The same goes
for PAM - if you want encryption that integrates with login, Vault is not the
solution.

Integration with KWallet is out of the question as it would render Vaults
useless. Anyone who has access to a computer with the user logged in would have
access to all Vaults as getting the password from KWallet is as simple as
invoking a single command in shell. There is no point in keeping something
encrypted if the encryption key is easily accessible.

Vaults are meant and designed to be small encrypted containers _under_ your
regular security (be it a simple login or an encrypted drive etc.) that are in
the locked state for as much as they can be. That is the reason closing a vault
can be easily done and easily automated (activit switching, kde connect
commands) while requiring an explicit action to open them.

As for cloud storage, the encrypted data can be synced without the vault being
open.

[plasmashell] [Bug 432588] New: Open KSysGuard by clicking with the middle button on the widget

2021-02-06 Thread Rind
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432588

Bug ID: 432588
Summary: Open KSysGuard by clicking with the middle button on
the widget
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.20.90
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: System Monitor
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: kde.milr...@8shield.net
CC: ahiems...@heimr.nl, notm...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY
The previous widget that monitored CPU and RAM usage opens the KSysGuard when
clicked.

The new widgets now display a small popup with information about the selected
sensors, and this is very useful, but I miss being able to open KSysGuard
through the widget.

As it's common on plasma that the panel items have special shortcuts for when
they are clicked with the middle mouse button, I believe this behavior can be
followed here too.

[plasmashell] [Bug 432586] Dead zone in the top left corner - cannot activate kickoff

In fact it depends on various factors like the scaling and the exact size of
the panel. For example I’m using 125% and it’s broken when the panel height is
in [30px,40px] but neither below or above.
And for 100% it is broken in [44px, 54px].

What seems to happen is that:
- the K menu icon is not scaled continuously but by by notches, I guess to use
only available bitmap sizes and have it always crisp
- when the panel is made taller than the immediately smaller icon size that can
fit, padding is added around the icon
- the padding is not clickable (neither on the left nor on the top side in
fact)

No feedback from you, all digiKam packages that we provide contain the German
