[plasmashell] [Bug 433297] Locale-aware alphabetic index/category in kickoff for non-English applications

I'm a bit surprised that Chinese people consider the first character of modern
pinyin a better index character than the ancient symbols that are actually seen
on the screen. If a file clerk is organizing folders in a paper file cabinet,
is there an implicit order that they always use? Why should digital apps be
different? What's the convention in non-Qt contexts, e.g. in native contacts
apps on phones?

There are other tasks in digiKam where we have to ignore lazy synchronization,
e.g. also when writing faces (after image rotation). The problem here is that
when you rename tags, they have to be written into the images. If a re-read of
the metadata were triggered by an external process or an internal copying
process, a previously deleted or renamed tag would re-appear in the tag tree.
Everything cannot be postponed until later with lazy synchronization.

I'm getting the same issue on latest Fedora 33 KDE spin. The "Default" profile
seems a hard-coded option for "Switch Profile" and "New Tab".

I have another laptop using Fedora 32 /KDE Plasma 5.18.5 has no such problem
(upgraded from F28 or F29, installed a few years ago), once I remove all other
profiles and make the current profile "default" one, then they won't show
"Default" profile option / sub-menu when clicking on "File - New Tab"

[plasmashell] [Bug 433415] New: Plasma shell crashes when messing around application audio settings in tray fly-out

2021-02-21 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433415

Bug ID: 433415
Summary: Plasma shell crashes when messing around application
audio settings in tray fly-out
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.21.0
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: goldenhash...@outlook.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Application: plasmashell (5.21.0)

Qt Version: 5.15.2
Frameworks Version: 5.79.0
Operating System: Linux 5.10.16-1-default x86_64
Windowing System: X11
Drkonqi Version: 5.21.0
Distribution: "openSUSE Tumbleweed"

-- Information about the crash:
When used together with PulseEffects, messing around output settings via audio
tray causes Plasma shell to crash.

Plasma shell version is 5.21.0. This issue won't occur in previous version
(5.20 ?)

Steps to reproduce:

1.  Install PulseEffects and make sure it's running;
2.  Enable some random effects;
3. Use whatever music player you like to play a music (This is necessary to
reproduce; silent status won't make plasma shell crash; For me VLC and Lollypop
can reproduce this)
4. Open volume tray fly-out, switch to Applications tab (this is necessary,
crashes won't occur when you mess around settings in Devices tab), find the
music player that is playing music, change its output device to hardware
output, then change back, repeat this process for mutliple times, then switch
back to Devices tab, Plasma shell should crash now;
5. If above steps won't crash Plasma shell, switch to Applications tab, in
additional to step.4, also change PulseEffects application volume and output
device repeatedly, then switch back to Devices tab, Plasma shell should crash
now.

Above step reproduces for both my laptop and desktop, one is upgraded to
5.21.0, another is clean reinstalled to 5.21.0, both running openSUSE
Tumbleweed.

This issue won't occur without PulseEffects, however an audio post-processing
software that routes output devices crashes Plasma shell indicates complicated
audio output setup isn't handled well.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

[Spectacle] [Bug 431915] Rectangular region: resizing with keyboard shortcuts doesn't work properly

2021-02-21 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431915

My screen is 1920x1080 (only one monitor is connected, no scaling), but when I
take a screenshot in rectangular region mode, and I draw the selection from the
very top left of the screen to the very bottom right of the screen, the
selection size can sometimes exceed the 1080p resolution, e.g. 1921x1082.

Then pressing Alt+Shift+Left/Up (which should do nothing due to the bug)
repeatedly will further increase the selection size, e.g. 1951x1095, which is
not expected because the size should not exceed the monitor's resolution.

But even if the selection size exceeds the resolution, the saved screenshot
will be 1920x1080, which is fine.

  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk

  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open app launcher
2. look at it
3. no setting to turn off, or adjust transparency

OBSERVED RESULT
Kickoff is too transparent

EXPECTED RESULT
having a setting to make it more opaque, or turn off transparency altogether.

Operating System: EndeavourOS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.79.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.10.16-arch1-1

Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz
Memory: 31.3 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: GeForce GTX 1050/PCIe/SSE2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Thanks for all of the great work you do to make Plasma the best desktop of the
universe! Sorry, but my eyes are not what they used to be, and having anything
in the foreground transparent, rather than things in the background is an odd
choice: It should be the opposite way arround. IOW: when opening the
application launcher, I don't mind if everything else would become transparent,
but the launcher I am tring to use should be opaque, so everything in it is
clearly visible.

I found out that I was actually using plasma desktop 5.21.0. The version I said
before was wrong, sorry about that. And I am using ibus-libpinyin, not rime.

I have tried multiple times, execute

ibus-daemon -drx

then Windows + Space works, but the input method panel is not being used. While
executing

ibus-daemon -drx -p /usr/lib/kimpanel-ibus-panel

The input method panel is working, but the shortcut does not work any more.

[krita] [Bug 433411] New: My Favortites tag presets reset after restarting Krita

2021-02-21 Thread Tyson Tan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=433411

Bug ID: 433411
Summary: My Favortites tag presets reset after restarting Krita
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.4.2
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Resource Management
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tyson...@tysontan.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Krita has a default tag named "My Favorties". Its name gives the impression
that user should assign their favorite presets to this tag -- just like the
"Favorite" Blending Mode category. However, any change done to this tag will be
reset after restarting Krita. Probably the same for other default tags as well.

I've heard many complains from uses who got very confused by this issue. Is
this intentional as a sample tag? If so, I recommend changing its name to
something less relavant.

If a user must create a new local tag for customization (which is not a good
idea in my opinion), we should give people a hint about this limitation.

This is a report on behalf of a Japanese Windows 10/Steam user, I've confirm
this issue on Archlinux/AppImage too. It's probably also the reason why I have
never been using the default tags -- although I totally forgot the details.

Strange long filename wrapping in Krusader

I have a file named "Oxalate content and calcium binding capacity of tea and
herbal teas.pdf". It ends up being wrapped as seen in the screenshot, even
though there's plenty of space in the Name column, and even if there weren't,
the filename shouldn't be wrapped.

As a result, I can't see the filename (unless I press F2 to rename it).

[Discover] [Bug 433321] Arrows of screenshots gallery not always work

What's going on here is that the arrow internally, invisibly selects the next
screenshot rather than scrolling. If the next screenshot is capable of being
selected without scrolling because it is already visible, the view will not
scroll.

The arrows should always scroll rather than changing the index of which
screenshot is selected.

The Messageviewer since 5.15 (Applications 20.08) can display the correct
headers, if you use the "Kmail 5.2" header style. That means that the base is
there to support protected headers also at different parts of KMail. KMail also
send protected headers, but do not obfuscate them at the moment to not have
more unuseful subjects.

When there was no noise, nobody looked at it. When there's noise - it's all the

I can't replicate this as described mounting the file protocol and using

Although this is definitely possible between sessions, which at that point the
FUSE path would be mounted under a different directory.

Can you confirm if the issue occurs when you re-open the application in the

[plasmashell] [Bug 432879] Emoji picker should remember the window position

2021-02-21 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432879

The change to do that actually happened in a Frameworks update (5.74 IIRC), and
most apps got the updated behavior automatically because they use a
KXMLGui-provided widget as their main window, and that widget got the new
feature automatically.

But the Emoji picker window is not a QWidgets app, so it does not use KXMLGui,
so it did not get the feature automatically, and it needs to be manually
updated to implement it.
