https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436564 Bug ID: 436564 Summary: Discover: DE Translation of "Featured" apps as "Recommended" apps leads to confusion Product: i18n Version: 20.12.3 Platform: openSUSE RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: de Assignee: kde-i18n...@kde.org Reporter: philipp.reichm...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY In the German UI of Discover, "Featured" apps are translated as "Empfehlung" ("Recommendation"). This makes it seem like they are recommended to me specifically. As a result, when I open Discover, I find it confusing when it recommends me to install apps that I have already installed. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Discover 2. The featured apps pane opens by default. OBSERVED RESULT The list of featured apps is presented as a list of apps that Discover recommends me for installation. Thanks for the review. Yes I restarted. Multiple times in fact. That's how I ended up with 11 copies of each of the scripts (and deleted 10 leaving one) in each of the two dirs (plus the single copy in the old-autostart-scripts backup dir) before I finally figured out what was going on. =:^( If I hadn't restarted multiple times there would have only been the one extra copy, not ten extra copies. Thus the "each time I restart" and "after a few restarts" in the original description. =:^) As for the workaround, setting the dir read-only, with autostart-scripts actually being a symlink to autostart to avoid having two dirs plus the backup with the same content, seems to have been effective. Further restarts haven't produced more copies again. =:^) (I was afraid I was going to have to either set immutable, or worse, add a section to my kde launcher script that deleted the autostart dir and copied it from the backup, like I had to do with konsolerc in a konsole wrapper script for bug #430036 because konsole protests if konsolerc is set readonly or set immutable. But in this case read-only seems to have had the intended effect without further side-effects.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: FreeBSD 13.0-RELEASE KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.81.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I've come up with a workaround: If one modifies "~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css" so it looks like this, the size of the buttons become the same as Breeze Qt: @import 'colors.css'; window headerbar.default-decoration button.titlebutton, window .titlebar.default-decoration button.titlebutton { padding: 0px; min-height: 20px; min-width: 20px; margin: 0; } window headerbar button.titlebutton, window .titlebar button.titlebutton { padding: 0px; } window headerbar button.titlebutton.close, window .titlebar button.titlebutton.close { padding: 0px; background-size: 20px 20px; } window headerbar button.titlebutton.maximize, window .titlebar button.titlebutton.maximize { padding: 0px; background-size: 20px 20px; } window headerbar button.titlebutton.minimize, window .titlebar button.titlebutton.minimize { padding: 0px; background-size: 20px 20px; } .maximized window headerbar button.titlebutton.maximize, .maximized window .titlebar button.titlebutton.maximize { padding: 0px; background-size: 20px 20px; } window.background.chromium { padding: 2px; } window.background.chromium headerbar button.titlebutton.close, window.background.chromium .titlebar button.titlebutton.close { padding: 2px; } window.background.chromium headerbar button.titlebutton.maximize, window.background.chromium .titlebar button.titlebutton.maximize { padding: 2px; } window.background.chromium headerbar button.titlebutton.minimize, window.background.chromium .titlebar button.titlebutton.minimize { padding: 2px; } window.background.chromium.maximized headerbar button.titlebutton.maximize, .maximized .titlebar button.titlebutton.maximize { padding: 2px; } With this, most GTK 3 apps even sport their headerbar buttons with less padding between them, and so they resemble better the Breeze Qt titlebar buttons. [Akonadi] [Bug 436550] Sporadic error when moving messages to trash.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436550 --- Comment #3 from David C. Bryant --- I guess I have a work around. I copied all the contents of ./local/share/local-mail/inbox to a new location. Then I closed KMail, stopped Akonadi, and deleted all the messages in ./local/share/local-mail/inbox. When I restarted KMail and ran "akonadictl fsck" I saw that 236 "dirty" items had been eliminated. Here is some terminal output. david@localhost ~ $ akonadictl stop david@localhost ~ $ akonadictl fsck 2>&1|grep ^Found Found 13 external files. Found 13 external parts. Found no unreferenced external files. Found 0 parts to be moved to external files Found 0 parts to be moved to database Found 5 collections without RID. Found 0 items without RID. Found 2765 dirty items. Notice the last line ... that used to say 3,001. 3,001 - 2,765 = 236. So there were 236 "dirty" items in my inbox folder. I killed KMail again, then stopped akonadi and copied the messages from the backup copy back where they had come from. I then restarted KMail, and all the inbox messages re-appeared. And when I reran akonadictl fsck, things were stil (partially) copacetic: david@localhost ~ $ akonadictl fsck 2>&1|grep ^Found Found 398 external files. Found 398 external parts. Found no unreferenced external files. Found 0 parts to be moved to external files Found 0 parts to be moved to database Found 5 collections without RID. Found 0 items without RID. Found 2765 dirty items. So I guess I can cure my KMail error messages by repeating this procedure for all the destinations in my folder tree. But I'd like to understand what created the "dirty" items in the first place. And it would also be nice to have a less labor-intensive method to correct this problem if and when it does arise. (I'm not real hot with "C++". But I used to write database driver software in assembly language on IBM mainframes. It's pretty clear to me that a bunch of the pointers in Akonadi's relational database were corrupted somehow, leading to a lot of "dirty" items. When I removed all the data from one -- well, actually, two -- folders, a whole slew of pointers were cleared from the relational database. Then, when I put the data back and restarted Akonadi, the previously corrupted pointers were rebuilt correctly. So now a bunch of "dirty" items are gone. If some clever C++ programmer could figure out how to make Akonadi reconstruct all its relational database pointers without actually moving a lot of data around, he could at least construct a recovery tool that would probably be useful. Reading a bunch of forum posts, it's obvious a lot of people are unhappy with Akonadi.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Akonadi] [Bug 436550] Sporadic error when moving messages to trash.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436550 --- Comment #1 from David C. Bryant --- I've done some more poking around. The messages that I can't access are asociated with "dirty" items reported by akonadictl fsck. Here's some terminal output. david@localhost ~ $ akonadictl fsck 2>&1|grep ^Found Found 13 external files. Found 13 external parts. Found no unreferenced external files. Found 0 parts to be moved to external files Found 0 parts to be moved to database Found 5 collections without RID. Found 0 items without RID. Found 3001 dirty items. I've posted inquiries in the KDE forum and in some chat rooms. I'll report back here if I get a response. I did do some spot checking, and the "dirty" items are definitely causing the problem. Every message that can't be accessed is on the list of "dirty" items. For about a year, akonadictl routinely reported 0 dirty items. Then, a couple of weeks ago, there were 3,003 of them. I have no idea how or why that happened. I think I can probably fix it by backing up all my emails and clearing all the data files out of .local/share/local-mail, then loading all the data back in there. But that would be a lot of work. I'm hopeful there's an easier way to clean the dirt out of Akonadi. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kdeconnect] [Bug 436557] New: Please add possibility to close the app/background service
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436557 Bug ID: 436557 Summary: Please add possibility to close the app/background service Product: kdeconnect Version: unspecified Platform: Android OS: Android 9.x Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: android-application Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com Reporter: war...@gmx.de Target Milestone: --- The rationale for my request: I only use kdeconnect on rare occasions, mostly to transfer a file. Once I am done I close everything again so it is not in my way and I have a clean environment. But on Android, there is now a permanent notification for the running service. So I have to go to settings→Apps→(wait for it to load the whole list)→scroll down to KDE Connect→force close it to get rid of the notification. This process in itself keeps me from using it more often, resorting to SFTP for file transfer. My currently installed version is 1.16.0 from F-Droid. Thanks for your consideration. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[ark] [Bug 436556] New: When Ark overwrites existing files, the dialog says "The files seem identical" even if different
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436556 Bug ID: 436556 Summary: When Ark overwrites existing files, the dialog says "The files seem identical" even if different Product: ark Version: 21.04.0 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: elvis.angelac...@kde.org Reporter: nyanpas...@tuta.io CC: aa...@kde.org, rthoms...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY When I open a .7z file in Ark, and drag "filename" into a directory already containing "filename", it erroneously says the source and destination are identical, even if they're not. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a file and put it into an archive (.7z works, .tar.gz works). 2. Edit the file on-disk so it differs from the archive (preferably a different size). 3. Open the archive in Ark, and drag the file out of the archive. OBSERVED RESULT The "File Already Exists" dialog says that "This action will overwrite the destination". However, the displayed Source size matches the destination's file size, not the actual source (the file in the archive being extracted). Additionally, the dialog says "The files are identical" even when it is not the case. Clicking Overwrite successfully overwrites the destination file with the (source) file in the archive, changing the contents and size. If you're extracting a .7z archive, Ark creates a .ark-.(random letters) folder. If you open Dolphin and shift-drag (move) this file from the .ark-... folder into the parent folder, the resulting dialog properly shows the files as different. EXPECTED RESULT The "File Already Exists" dialog properly computes the source file size and whether they're identical.
