When I added a startup application (actually a script) and checked the Terminal
options
  Run in terminal
Do not close when command exits
my script runs, but I don't see any terminal nor does it stick around, maybe
because something is ignoring
  TerminalOptions=\s--noclose
in the generated .desktop file.

As a workaround my script writes debug messages to /tmp/myscript.$$.out , but I
would like to see them in a terminal. If these terminal options aren't going to
have any effect, then kcm_autostart shouldn't offer them (which is a slightly
different bug, I guess).

> Can you check with the nightly build if you have the same behavior?

I've tested with Nightly 21.07.70 (kdenlive-master-769-windows-mingw_64-gcc)
and the answer is: yes and no.

Yes, for the particular file I've uploaded this seems to fix the issue but for
the file I'm actually working with I would call it a clear regression.
Not only it does not fix the issue (for my real file) but also just loading the
file onto the timeline brings exactly the same issue I've described initially:
the clip starts at about 30 s into the Video -- with out further do!

Before that I could observe that the little loading bar below the file after
you drag the file into the project window loads multiple times to 100% -- which
I didn't observe on 20.04.xx. I would say it only should load one time to 100%
as it did in the old version.

But to be fair I'm not even sure if this is the version which is supposed to
fix the issue. kde/kdenlive is all over the place: issue system here on
bugs.kde.org, then a gitlab isntance on invent.kde.org with another issue
tracker and finally even (a clone?) on github.com. Than I can/could find "Daily
builds" somewhere (miss the link atm) as well as "Nightly builds" from a
Jenkins instance.
Please point me to the correct file and preferable please link the
corresponding chnage/diff on github/gitlab if possible.

I will try to reproduce the the same error in a smaller file.

This crash is not in our codebase, it could happen to any app using Qt. I
looked at the code and it doesn't look like the backtrace is all that useful,
since it's calling a null pointer that it didn't use to be.

If you find the issue again, please reopen. Especially if you can reproduce,
but I don't think it makes much sense to track it under Discover anyway.

A couple of months ago, I was working on a video and after trying to reopen it
the next day I couldn't file the .kdenlive project file anywhere. At the time,
I suspected I deleted it by accident.

Today, it happened again. Yesterday night I was working in another video. I
tried to resume the work this morning and the .kdelive file was nowehere to be
found. But know I am completely sure I didn't delete it.

Apparently, I am not the only one with this problem:
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=269=164338

It may be something related to the snap package, but I am not sure.

It is very, very annoying to lost hours of work with no apparent reason.

Jérôme Borme changed:

 CC||jerome.bo...@laposte.net

Activating option "Size of contents, up to 10 levels deep", leads to 100% cpu
usage in a seemingly infinite loop (can last hours). Some dirs also report a
much overestimated size.

On one example, a dir (15 levels, 1045 dir, 41233 files, `du` size of 169 GiB)
is reported as 512.2 TiB.

Selecting a lower number of levels (2-3) does not trigger the problem (size is
underestimated, as expected).

The tree might contain circular symbolic links. fs is brtfs. I have not tried
browsing /proc and did not create symbolic links there.

(In reply to Halla Rempt from comment #3)
Give a non-condescending answer next time. Labeling something as "Not a bug"
instantly is not helpful in the least when it clearly is and there are things
that can be done. Just because you don't know or even care to think about
doesn't mean something is the way it is. Higher refresh rate monitors are very
common and saying that the GPU is what is limiting it when that is clearly not
the case is just ignorant.

(In reply to Tiar from comment #4)
Perfect, this is an actual working and appropriate response. I'm having zero
issues by turning this down in the application and it's working flawlessly.
Thank you very much!

2021-05-23 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437586

Bug ID: 437586
Summary: Manual speed setting does not allow 2500 and 5000 Mb/s
   Product: plasma-nm
   Version: 5.21.5
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: jgrul...@redhat.com
  Reporter: dhum...@eml.cc
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 138725
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=138725=edit
Here is the applet's configuration

SUMMARY
When creating/editing a connection with manual speed settings within the
plasma-nm applet, it is not possible to choose a value of 2500/5000 Mb/s.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the plasma-nm applet
2. Create a new connection
3. Attempt to change the speed

OBSERVED RESULT
2500 Mb/s and 5000 Mb/s are not available

EXPECTED RESULT
Either 2500 Mb/s and 5000 Mb/s should be available in the Speed dropdown, or
entering a manual value should be allowed.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: 5.12.6
KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.82.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Manually editing the connection with nmcli sets the speed as expected, however
the value displayed in the applet's editor/viewer shows 100 Mb/s.

Here is the nmcli output:
```
$ nmcli connection show Onboard | grep 802-3-ethernet.speed
802-3-ethernet.speed:   2500
```

SUMMARY
When logged out or rebooted from wayland plasma the scaling (200%) global
scaling is remembered and works fine. When however I log out from wayland into
sddm , login into X11 and then log out of X11 plasma and log in into wayland
plasma I can see small letters again. When I look in "display settings" it
shows properly 200%, but it is not acted on as all letters in plasma (K) menu
are small.
As a workaround I need to adjust slightly to 175% , press apply button and then
go back to 200% and press apply.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
Small letters in menu. Scaling not applied although it shows 200% in display

EXPECTED RESULT
Proper scaling in effect.

[konversation] [Bug 437584] New: Saving channel list locks up GUI, but keyboard still works

2021-05-23 Thread Frank Steinmetzger
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437584

Bug ID: 437584
Summary: Saving channel list locks up GUI, but keyboard still
works
   Product: konversation
   Version: 1.8.21041
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: konversation-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: war...@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: ---

I got wind of the the migration of FOSS projects to libera.chat and so followed
suit with my Konversation installation. I wanted to get a glimpse of the
available channels, so I pressed F5 for the channel list, refreshed it and
saved it to a file for archive purposes, as I do every few months.

But then the GUI did not react to mouse input anymore. There was no CPU load,
so it wasn’t a typical infinite loop. Next I tried Ctrl+Q and it worked: I got
the “Do you want to quit” dialog. I cancelled it, and now the GUI worked again.

My current Konversation package is part of KDE 21.04.1. This is the first time
I encountered this problem. The last time I used this feature, it was working
normally, running on KDE 20.12.2.

It seems some data is sent at a dbus-menu level.

{'action': <'unity.-Raise-Layer'>, 'accel': <'Page_Up'>,
'label': <'_Raise Layer'>, 'icon': <('themed', <['layer-raise', 'layer',
'layer-raise-symbolic', 'layer-symbolic']>)>},

Seems we have an icon name specified, but if that icon doesn't exist in Breeze,
it's not too surprising we don't show anything. At no point is any other icon
information sent.

I'm not convinced we have any options here.

Add sort function to Recent Files/Locations pages

The list of items shown in Recent Files/Locations pages have advantage to be
shown sorted from recent to old (or the opposite) according to their time of
access, but with Dolphin we can sort them only by date of creation or
modification, while the correct way is to sort them by date of access which
doesn't work because it's disabled on Linux to speed up IO, so it would be
great to add an option to sort Recent Files/Locations items from recent to old
(or the opposite) according to Plasma sort mechanism to make it easy for user
to access the most recent files.
So it will work like there's hidden column, when its sort is enabled then any
other active column's sort will be replaced and when it's disabled the previous
used sort will be restored and enabled. See attached image for more info.

Places panel

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin.

OBSERVED RESULT
Dolphin has a new spacement in the left of the places panel, but in the right
of it, there's a different spacement being used.

EXPECTED RESULT
Personally I think the spacement at the left is exaggerated. If the spacement
of the right side of the places panel seems sufficient for the left side.

Maybe debugging with gdb would help to find the source of the problem. But my

I just tried it with:
"spectacle --activewindow --background --nonotify --output ~/test.png"
and
"spectacle -bn"

No freeze of the desktop.
Tried with the latest git build of Spectacle (21.07.70).

BUT I have a similar issue with GnuCash. When I close it, it freezes both the
taskbar AND desktop for about 3-4 seconds.
No such bug reported on their bugtracker yet:

This would mean a new option in the settings?

Like:
When launching Spectacle GUI:
  ( ) take screenshot immediately
  ( ) don't take a screenshot

It would make sense. Yeah. I would still include language showing the process
somewhere in the window.

Eventually, someone will probably want to make a libdecor[1] plugin for
QtWayland. But unfortunately, libdecor hasn't had a release yet.

Qt loads the decoration plugins from

qt5-wayland provides libbradient.so which creates the decoration from my second
