  Platform: Compiled Sources

SUMMARY
When using any brush with pressure sensitivity controlling size, the brush
always starts off with a thick circle at the maximum size possible with those
settings (the pressure curve found in the brush settings under "size") soon
followed by the actual size determined by the pressure. Basically, every part
of the stroke works normally except for the very beginning which has the big
blot.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. use any brush for instance inkbrush 25
2. have the brush settings as preset
3. draw any stroke from any point in the canvas.

my canvas size is 1920 x 1080 at 300 ppi

Rex Dieter, reverting only the commit in Comment 3 puts konsole into a state

(e.g. no menu option to hide it). Perhaps reverting the commit in Comment 5

[kwin] [Bug 438097] [AnimationEffect] kwin_wayland sometimes crashes when right clicking in an xwayland program

2021-06-04 Thread Lewis Lakerink
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438097

I'm not sure if it's related - but sometimes kwin_wayland won't crash - but
instead all my xwayland clients die (I guess xwayland itself crashes), and I'm
not able to start an xwayland client again without logging out of my session
and back in.

Perhaps if the xwayland server crashes midway through a render xwayland related
animations lose their EffectWindow?

I don't know how that works internally, I'm merely speculating - and xwayland
dying may be unrelated to this ticket.

[dolphin] [Bug 438100] New: path tab completion navigate to wrong folder

2021-06-04 Thread Rajinder Yadav
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438100

Bug ID: 438100
Summary: path tab completion navigate to wrong folder
   Product: dolphin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: bars: location
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: devguy...@gmail.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

When typing a path and then hitting tab to complete first suggestion, Dolphin
will navigate to the wrong folder when enter is pressed.

Dolphin is incorrectly choosing the 1st child folder to go into, rather than
the parent folder.

See pic, it shows the folder to enter is "home/yadav/dev/docs", but actually
enters 1st child folder "audioklips".

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. mkdir -p /tmp/foo/bar/{aa,bb,cc}
2. Open Dolphin, press CTRL+L
3. Type in /tmp/foo/b
4. Press Tab to complete suggestion
5. Press enter

OBSERVED RESULT

Navigated to path /tmp/foo/bar/one

EXPECTED RESULT

path /tmp/foo/bar

Another related backtrace. Similar cause, the line in question is
"entry.key()->addLayerRepaint(entry->second);"

This time the trigger for the crash was a code completion popup in PyCharm.

Program terminated with signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

Please answer the other questions from comment #1. Where are you trying to
save the file to? Is it a local folder or remote? If remote, what type of
file system is it?

If you reply by email, please strip the previous comments, as your entire email

[kscreenlocker] [Bug 438099] New: Endless loop when using PAM module pam_systemd_home.so after wrong password

2021-06-04 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438099

Bug ID: 438099
Summary: Endless loop when using PAM module pam_systemd_home.so
after wrong password
   Product: kscreenlocker
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: r...@posteo.de
CC: bhus...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 139007
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=139007=edit
Working but but probably no where near correct fix - beware!

SUMMARY
Trying to unlock screen as a user created with systemd-homed (or more specific:
homectl) results in an loop when using wrong password. kscreenlocker/kcheckpass
will try to authenticate forever.

I can see this behavior in current Arch Linux and Fedora 34.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Get current Arch Linux installation or VM with KDE. (Systemd-homed is
ready-to-use in Arch, but not in Fedora 34.)
2. Create user as root: homectl create testuser --storage=directory --uid=12345
Setting the UID here as users with UIDs over 6 (which are otherwise
chosen by default) are not shown in SDDM.
3. Log in SDDM as this new user (X11/Wayland-Session doesn't matter)
4. Switch to TTY and as root run: journalctl -f
3. Switch back, lock screen and try to unlock but with a wrong password.
4. Switch to TTY to watch error messages. Kill kcheckpass to end loop and use
"loginctl unlock-session $(session)" to unlock.

OBSERVED RESULT
The endless loop will hit the systemd-homed authentication rate limit on first
try with a wrong password (see "homectl inspect testuser"). kscreenlocker won't
allow another authentication attempt.

EXPECTED RESULT
Another authentication attempt with kscreenlocker acquiring new user password.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Linux/KDE Plasma: Updated Arch Linux or Fedora 34
KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.82.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
It seems that the PAM module pam_systemd_home.so tries to reacquire a new
password after initial failed attempt and continues the PAM-conversation. But
kcheckpass continues (without actually reacquiring a new PW from user) where it
should probably bail.

The whole thing can be debugged with "kcheckpass_test --direct".
I found that the attached patch fixes the problem for me. But I can't in any
way assess if this is a proper solution.

[kwin] [Bug 438097] New: [AnimationEffect] kwin_wayland sometimes crashes when right clicking in an xwayland program

2021-06-04 Thread Lewis Lakerink
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438097

Bug ID: 438097
Summary: [AnimationEffect] kwin_wayland sometimes crashes when
right clicking in an xwayland program
   Product: kwin
   Version: git master
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: le...@retsim.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
(I assume) Some kind of internal effects change causes animations to be added
with a null EffectWindow* key in m_animations.

I've also observed crashes in AnimationEffect::paintWindow() - however I don't
have a stack trace or line number for this, as I was using the ArchLinux
5.21.90 packages without debug info.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use an xwayland jetbrains IDE for some time
2. Eventually right clicking the source code to bring up the context menu will
crash kwin
3. The crash can take minutes or hours of coding to occur, but it's almost
always triggered for me by right clicking in the jetbrains IDE.

OBSERVED RESULT
She's dead, Jim.

Core was generated by `kwin_wayland --wayland_fd 4 --xwayland
/usr/lib/startplasma-waylandsession'.
Program terminated with signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

(In reply to David Edmundson from comment #2)

As I remarked in bug 437880#c6 , for years I had a login script to launch
Konsole that simply ran `konsole --tabs-from-file ~/dotfiles/session.konsole`.
It stopped working around the upgrade to Fedora 34 on Wayland and I couldn't
figure out why, so I moved it to Autostart > Add Application and set the
terminal options to see what was going on. I wound up using `konsole --hold`
instead and fixed my problem; however imagine the general case of someone
trying to debug an Autostart application who wants to see stdout and stderr.

If nothing else uses KOpenWithDialog then it seems fine to remove the Terminal
options; there are other ways to debug application startup.

Thanks for working on this! 

[systemsettings] [Bug 437880] confusing error when adding a startup application that's not executable

2021-06-04 Thread skierpage
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437880

(In reply to Nicolas Fella from comment #4)
> ... for the user case of adding a script the "Add login
> script" option (which will get a proper executable check in
> https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/merge_requests/878) is
> preferred over the "Add application" option.

My years-old script launches Konsole with `konsole --tabs-from-file
~/dotfiles/session.konsole`. At some point in the upgrade to Fedora 34 on
Wayland or afterwards, Konsole no longer appeared at startup (journalctl had
errors "unknown: This compositor does not support the Plasma Window Management
interface" as if the script was running too soon, or under sddm or something).
So I assumed you _can't_ start applications from a login script any more, so I
moved it to Autostart > + Add Application. Should I file a bug that Autostart >
Login scripts can't launch programs in Fedora 34 Wayland?

Thanks for working on this!

[krita] [Bug 438096] New: Color Smudge brush with Overlay Mode turned on crashes Krita when painting in the "Paint in this area"

2021-06-04 Thread Stig
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438096

Bug ID: 438096
Summary: Color Smudge brush with Overlay Mode turned on crashes
Krita when painting in the "Paint in this area"
   Product: krita
Version: nightly build (please specify the git hash!)
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: regression, release_blocker
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Brush engines
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: sti-n...@online.no
  Target Milestone: ---

Color Smudge brush with Overlay Mode turned on crashes Krita when painting in
the "Paint in this area" section when creating a new Brush Preset.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a Smudge Engine Brush with “Overlay Mode” turned on
2. “Save New Brush Preset…”
3. Paint in the “Paint in this area” with the brush, Krita will hang, and then
crash

OBSERVED RESULT
Krita freezes, then crashes.

EXPECTED RESULT
Smudging of the thumbnail, if a custom one is added, it would smudge the
thumbnail, just like a normal smudge brush without Overlay Mode turned on
would.

FormLineEdit: Don't run focusout/formatfield actions when losing focus because
of window management

Adobe Reader doesn't do it and if we do it can end up crashing because
we end up running two focusout actions in parallel and our script system
is not prepared for that:

Scenario:
 * Tab out of a field
 * Script for that focusout runs
 * focus goes to next field
 * script for that focusout shows an alert()
 * second focusout script for that field runs while the first is running
 * bad stuff

Fix showing of dialog the user can't interact with when saving

The issue is using KIO::move + exec() can show a dialog but exec says
to QEventLoop::ExcludeUserInputEvents so the user is stuck there
forever.

Move to KIO::file_move since we're moving files anyway and set overwrite
since we're already asking if the file exists anyway (twice in fact, fix
coming in the next commit)

Possibly related is a crash in kdeinit5 about the same time (just after the
kate crash). I wonder if the syntax highlighting crashes and that breaks a
thumbnail? Or maybe the kate crash brings down the syntax highlighting service?

Operating System: Linux 5.12.8-300.fc34.x86_64 x86_64
Windowing System: Wayland

Distribution: Fedora 34 (Workstation Edition)

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Tried to save a new text file in a directory. A lag of a couple of seconds and
then the crash.

This was reproducable, but only for that specific directory, which has about 20
PDF files in.
Seems related to the thumbnails somehow. When I moved the PDFs into a subdir
and out again,
forcing the thumbnails to be regenerated, the crash went away.
Suggests that it is perhaps related to loading thumbnails in some older
thumbnail format?

- Custom settings of the application:
Generates thumbnails for PDFs and Office files

The crash can be reproduced every time.

SUMMARY
The search results hides information about the found line under ellipsis (...)
even though there's plenty of space on the screen to show more.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a file with longish lines

OBSERVED RESULT
The shown result lines use ellipsis and shorten the text too much.

EXPECTED RESULT
Use the space that's available on the screen.

The doc from KAboutData says that when using KMainWindow the translators are
set automatically. I see in older digiKam AppImages that the translation tab is
available. We haven't made any changes to the code on our part, I think. When I
check KAboutData::translators() the list is empty. I guess that the translator
involved is in the translation file. So I suspect the mistake there, I'll check
out the current translation and look it up.

Incidentally, a look at other programs (Dolphin, Konsole) shows that no
translators are manually specified in the code here.

Hindi language is not properly displaying for few words in calendar. The
problem is concurring while displaying "Hindi Matras". Please check the
screen-shot link given below for more information:
https://i.imgur.com/1r0LDGQ.png

The word June is appearing as ज ून* , which is not a correct Hindi format. It
should be written as जून

* - (Using white-space to explain the bug).

I have also raised the same issue in Garuda Linux Forum
https://forum.garudalinux.org/t/topic/9150
They said it is a bug in KDE and I should report this bug to KDE Community.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Just change the language of "date & time" to Hindi from settings.

[kwin] [Bug 438090] New: Segmentation Fault on Logout

2021-06-04 Thread David C. Bryant
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438090

Bug ID: 438090
   Summary: Segmentation Fault on Logout
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.20.5
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: core
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: davidbry...@gvtc.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
SDDM / Login works OK when system first boots up. If I log out, I can't log in
again. Much discussion in Gentoo forums. See
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1136583.html and also
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1135770.html.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Boot the system and log in.
2. Log out.
3. Segmentation fault in kwin; can't log in again.

OBSERVED RESULT
I can't log into my Plasma session unless I restart sddm.

EXPECTED RESULT
I should be able to log out, then log back in again. It worked until a couple
of days ago. I suspect "qtcore" and/or "qtgui", which were recently upgraded in
Gentoo.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.80.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'm reporting this as a bug in Plasma, with the X11 windowing system. But it
also appears to be killing the Wayland windiwing system. I usually don't use
Wayland, but it used to work, and now it doesn't. I can't even get a decent
error message out of Wayland. I also have XFCE configured ... amaxingly enough,
I was able to get some screenshots of Drkonqui after kwin had crashed by
logging in to XFCE and using those tools. Screenshots are attached.

[apper] [Bug 438088] New: Apper doesn't show Translators tab in About dialogue

2021-06-04 Thread Tyson Tan
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=438088

Bug ID: 438088
Summary: Apper doesn't show Translators tab in About dialogue
   Product: apper
   Version: 1.0.0
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dantt...@gmail.com
  Reporter: tyson...@tysontan.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Apper currently does not show the Translators tab in its About dialogue.

1) Tested with Apper 1.0.0 (KF 5.82.0, Qt 5.15.2, Archlinux build)

2) We have already 100% translated Apper to Simplified Chinese (zh_CN) a few
months ago. "Your names" and "Your emails" have been filled.

3) The app displays our translation properly, just without the Translators tab
in its About dialogue.

There is a related bug report which discussed a similar issue in Elisa and
digiKam as well:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437738#c15

Albert Astals Cid said:

(For Elisa) That's an elisa bug, open a bug for them, they either need to use
KMainWindow (or some class that inherits from it) or call
  setTranslator(i18nc("NAME OF TRANSLATORS", "Your names"),
i18nc("EMAIL OF TRANSLATORS", "Your emails"));
manually on their KAboutData as stated in the KAboutData documentation

(For digiKam) it works on the last official release both using appimage and not
using appimage, if it doesn't work on the nightly, i'd say that is their bug
and not a kxmlgui bug either.

(For Apper) I'd say it's the same problem of not using KMainWindow or similar
(at least i can't find one)

[digikam] [Bug 437736] digiKam 7.3 doesn't have a Translators tab in its About dialogue anymore

So it turned out it could be a digiKam bug after all. No other apps has this
issue except Elisa/digiKam(7.3.0nightly)/Apper.

(For Elisa) That's an elisa bug, open a bug for them, they either need to use
KMainWindow (or some class that inherits from it) or call
  setTranslator(i18nc("NAME OF TRANSLATORS", "Your names"),
i18nc("EMAIL OF TRANSLATORS", "Your emails"));
manually on their KAboutData as stated in the KAboutData documentation

(For digiKam) it works on the last official release both using appimage and not
using appimage, if it doesn't work on the nightly, i'd say that is their bug
and not a kxmlgui bug either.
