If I only knew what the root cause is -- I only described the symptoms... The
Display is callocated (so zeroed) and lock_fns explicitly set to NULL in
OpenDisplay. lock_fns is then touched (Xmalloc-ed) only in _XInitDisplayLock.

SUMMARY
In the nightly build [git ee39d38] the scatter strength value of the brush
presets is lost and set to 100% a start. The brush preset is immediately marked
dirty due to this change. This goes away when you reload the brush preset. 


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the nightly build and create a new document and choose a brush preset
which has scatter strength assigned of anything other than 100%. A good brush
for this test is c) Pencil-2. Choose this brush preset and then restart Krita
2. Open krita again and load a new document. The previous brush preset should
be active now
3. Paint with the brush you'll notice that the scatter is wrong. If you check
the preset editor you'll see it is set to 100% while for this preset it should
be 9%

This can be reproduced with any brush which has scatter strength other than
100%

SUMMARY
The meta key will be captured by all desktops

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use remmina's rdp to remotely connect to windows in workspace 2 and use full
screen.
2. Move the mouse to the toolbar at the top of remmina to enable grab all keys.
3. Press the desktop grid shortcut and use the mouse to switch to another
desktop.
4. Press the meta key or the shortcut key containing meta.
5. Switch to the desktop where remmina is located.

OBSERVED RESULT
A pop-up menu pops up on the remote windows desktop.

EXPECTED RESULT
When switching to another desktop and pressing meta, the remmina on desktop 2
no longer receives meta,windows no longer pop up menu.

Thanks for your reply Nate. Unfortunately I tried it and it didn't seem to have
any effect on the size of the clock widget or its font. For now what I've done
is simply reverted to using the two-line time/date style, which seems the only
way to get the font to a reasonable size. 

I think since the option to hide the date is available, changing font size to
match should hopefully follow one day.

Other files (without embedded palettes) are overwritten in 5.0-prealpha without
this error, so it shouldn't be missing priviledges or something.

When saving the project file under a new filename however (Save As...), the
file is saved successfully and can then be overwritten by Krita 5.0-prealpha
even after restarting it. Also, creating a new document-embedded palette on
5.0-prealpha appears to work without corrupting the file - at least on
5.0-prealpha. This new file is still bugged for Krita 4.4.7, though.

So my guess would be that Krita 4.4.7 makes some kind of mistake at the time it
loads a file with an embedded palette, which completely prevents it from saving
this file at all?
Also, any files with palettes that are saved on 4.4.7 appear to produce a
"corrupted" one that only 5.0-prealpha can successfully "save as" a new file
but still NOT overwrite.

TL;DR
KRA file with embedded palette created and saved by 4.4.7:
- cannot be overwritten  by 4.4.7
- cannot be saved as new by 4.4.7
- cannot be overwritten  by 5.0-prealpha

It seems I am slowly progressing. There were several problems. I will PR more
patches to mxe, libgphoto2 upstreams and also to digiKam.

At the moment under Win 10 it successfully detects the camera and adds it to
the import list (Canon EOS 500D in my case). It also successfully detects the
free space in the camera, but unfortunately during the download, when the
download dialog opens, it outputs error that it cannot connect to the camera.
It's the same with the generic USB PTP camera. At the moment I have libgphoto2
without EXIF support, I don't know whether it can be related.

I will try enabling libgphoto2 full debug output and hopefully will find out
more.

Don't reserve room for spinbox buttons if buttons disabled

Previously, in Qt Widgets with the Breeze theme active,
QAbstractSpinBox::setButtonSymbols(QAbstractSpinBox::NoButtons) would
hide the buttons but leave a white space where the buttons would
normally be. This changes the Breeze theme to skip adding the width of
the hidden buttons to the spinbox's width.

SUMMARY
The latest Neon ISO doesn't boot on my Dell G3 3590 laptop. Other users online
mentioned the same issue, all on other Dell laptop models. The same live USB
worked fine on an Asus laptop.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download the latest Neon User ISO (neon-user-20210806-1520.iso)
2. Burn it to an USB using the recommended Rosa image writer
3. Try booting it on a Dell laptop

OBSERVED RESULT
The live USB didn't boot and I got the following message:

Failed to open \EFI\BOOT\? - Invalid Parameter
Failed to load image \EFI\BOOT\? - Invalid Parameter
start_image() returned Invalid Parameter

The screen then went black and then booted into the currently installed OS
(Mint 20.2). I tried the same USB on an Asus laptop and it booted perfectly.
Live USBs for other distros (Kubuntu 20.04 and 21.04, Mint 20.2 and Solus 4.3)
all worked fine.

EXPECTED RESULT
I expected the live USB to boot normally.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I posted the issue on Reddit and on the KDE forums. A few people replied with

SUMMARY
Creating a color palette with the checkbox for embedding the palette into the
document set corrupts the KRA file after saving. Once the KRA is saved, Krita
closed and opened again, the KRA file cannot be saved anymore. At all.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a new document.
2. Create a new Color Palette (e.g. "BuggyPalette" for both name and filename)
and tick the checkbox for embedding the palette into document.
3. Save your project file as .KRA, (e.g. "TestFile.kra")
4. Close Krita.
5. Open Krita again.
6. Load your project file.
7. Paint something (or make any other change to your file so you have something
to save).
8. Try to save your file via CTRL+S / File>Save or File>SaveAs...

OBSERVED RESULT
The file has become corrupted and cannot be saved anymore. A dialog is shown
with a different error message, depending on which save option you used:

File/Save =
"Could not save [XXX.kra] Reason: Unknown Error"

File/Save As... [different file name] =
"Could not save [XXX.kra] Reason: Error occurred while writing to the file"

EXPECTED RESULT
The file should save successfully without any errors.

Krita version: 4.4.7 (x64 windows installer)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- I attached an animated GIF screencast that visualizes Reproduction Step #2. 
- Workaround: Renaming the .KRA file to ZIP and manually deleting the
corresponding palette file (palettes/BuggyPalette.kpl in this case) seems to
fix the save bug, even when the (now missing) palette is still referenced in
maindoc.xml . Not sure if there are any side effects to this, though.

KIO implementing rsync is out of scope; KIO can copy/move files/dirs, a simple
tool that's not with features, but implementing rsync algorithms would
complicate the code too much, and there is already a perfectly good tool
(rsync) that does one job, and does it really well.

Ok, so, as a reference, version 7.4.0 rev
90854f4a4e9e06ed2f1196afbee0b92fe5bf9fe8 took 14 minutes and 20 seconds since
it was started until it finished checking for changes (there were none since I
already started it a few minutes earlier).

My library right now comprises around 13 pictures, connects to a NAS via
internet through a VPN (two-way 100mbps) and a latency of ~41ms.

I will try these days if I see any changes.

Can confirm the issue with the following simple reproduction steps:

1. Plug in a USB flash drive
2. In the Disks & Devices popup, click "Mount and open"
3. In the Disks & Devices popup, click, "Safely remove"
4. Unplug the USB flash drive
5. Plug the USB flash drive in again

It does re-appear in Dolphin, so the problem would appear to be in the applet
itself or in the data engine that translates the signals from Solid.

Sounds like you are affected by Bug 433460. For some reason,
automatically-chosen scale factors need to be manually re-applied before they
work properly.

touchpad settings screenshot

SUMMARY
After  having upgraded to Plasma 5.22.4, the touchpad settings report "no
touchpad found".

My touchpad work fine, but I can't tweak it with the control panel.

Thank you for the test image. The problem has already been reported to us once,
but I have not yet been able to reproduce it and unfortunately I cannot
reproduce it with this image either. When I do a face scan with the active Yolo
v3 engine, 4 more faces are found in the background, the two in front remain
unchanged and are also not doubled. Tomorrow I will test it on a Windows
machine to see if there are any differences.

[containments/panel] Fix panel applet configuration with touch

Despite this UI seeming very touch-centric, it was actually totally
boken for the touch use due to the use of mouse-specific code, namely
setting the current applet only when the mouse moved and also hiding the
tooltip when the mouse edited the area--neither of which are compatible
with authentic touch events when handled by a mouse area, because the
synthesized mouse position exits the mousearea as soon as the finger
used to touch the screen is retracted.

This is fixed by setting the current applet when clicked/touched as
well, and removing the onExited signal handler to hide the tooltip,
which was unnecessary anyway because the tooltip gets hidden by other
things and this still works.

Now touch interaction with panel applets while in panel edit mode
works as expected.

As a test environment, I use my Fritz-Box router with a connected 2.5 inch WD
hard drive via USB with 100Mb/s LAN network. Mounted via Cifs-SMB. So not
really a fast NAS. There are about 30,000 images on the hard drive.

Scan before: 268 seconds
Scan now: 170 seconds

It changes the "Screen X" text to something that should include resolution and
either model or manufacturer (manufacturer, if the model is empty). The
information provided is kind of very varied depending on the display and
manufacturer so it's difficult to judge which part of the information is the
most useful, and I tried to make it short. I guess it could still be improved
by ensuring all of the information Krita has access to is displayed, but -
maybe it's already helpful?

[applets/systemtray] Use "scale with panel" setting when in tablet mode

This setting is more appropriate when in tablet mode, as it makes the
System Tray icons scale up to fill the panel's height/width. When tablet
mode exits, it returns to the default icon size setting (unless the user
already set to always be in "scale with panel" mode.

[applets/systemtray] Scale expander arrow with "scale with panel" setting

This makes the expander arrow match the scale of all the other icons
when using the "Scale with panel width" setting. Otherwise it looks too
small and is hard to use in tablet mode, if you're using that setting for
increased touch-friendliness.

We only run through a network collection once in
the first scan to determine the number of files.
The possible number of images and albums is now
taken from the database.
This can be a little less precise under certain
circumstances, we will test it.

We only run through a network collection once in
the first scan to determine the number of files.
The possible number of images and albums is now
taken from the database.
This can be a little less precise under certain
circumstances, we will test it.

Extra note: Dolphin has been showing a preview of the arrow animation the whole
time, and it shows no significant CPU load. The same when previewing the bigger
GIF that I was working on originally (640x320 at 25 fps).

A tiny demo GIF with which to visibly reproduce the issue

SUMMARY
I was experimenting with creating an animated GIF and played around with the
frame delays. But playback did not seem to follow my GIF creation settings.

As it turned out, playback speed becomes lower and lower with every time I
press F5 on the image.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
- View the example GIF I quickly made up of an icon from my system.
- Press F5 to reload the image.

OBSERVED RESULT
According to KDE's task manager, Gwenview’s CPU load was at 6 % for even this
tiny GIF.
When reloading a few times, CPU load goes up and playback quickly slows down,
even before CPU load hits 25 % (one core saturated). This is easily visible due
to the high original framerate of the GIF.

In a nutshell, these are the rules of thumb to determine which key does what:

1. The enter key will activate the currently selected item in lists, grids,
etc, and it will virtually click the "default button" of dialogs
2. The spacebar key will virtually click the highlighted UI element that you
have used the tab key to navigate to

Sure it does. As I already wrote: Regular Qt applications are not affected.

This bug report is about allow working with the appindicator-support Gnome
Shell extension.

As recent as two days ago there was a comment on the extension page saying that
Konversation is not working with it.

Exposing KSNI towards Gnome Shell with appindicator-support is important for
properly working KDE apps under Gnome.

Wwww! I'm mind-blown. I'm no meager/newb user either and never knew that.
I just looked into it a TINY bit and came across:

I'm trying to think of what I can do (besides... OH! okay, I just tried this on
this issue and it still didn't work.)
1. Press the Window key
2. Press the space bar key

What happened: The space bar action was injected in the filter.
What should have happened: The space bar action should have "clicked" (mouse
press down and up) the selected item which would be the first favorite item.
You could also press the right-arrow after step 1 to make sure the next
favorite item is highlighted.

The enter key, instead of doing nothing, would change the "highlighted" look to
a "selected" look for the highlighted item.

Once every item desired is selected, then the spacebar "clicks" all selected
items (unless the last highlighted item is not selected, in which case, only
that highlighted item is "clicked").

If you want to type (spacebar) in the filter, you'd need to tab/arrow to it
first.

I'd love to find some program/window or site (probably not "site" since that
would be dependent on the browser complying with the system rules) that would
definitively show the effects of these actions.

As low-priority, it may be helpful in the keyboard settings to have a section
where these things could be learned/tried-out.
The mouse section could have an image of a mouse where the button actions are
highlighted in the image when pressed/released. Not sure how that would pan out
with the various types of mice buttons and their locations.
Of course, it may just be easier to have a "help" link in those sections that
explains these very basic (even though I didn't even know it) functions.
