no you havent. I use now your layout in my system so I am doing the following:

1. Make a window maximized
2. Press "Super key" and latte dock is now showing, it show the ditto menu I
think
3. as long the application launcher in the center of the screen is shown the
bottom latte is still showing
4. hiding the application launcher hides also the bottom latte when [1] window
is activated

so what is the issue? or what the exact steps to reproduce?

I actually meant _adding_ the Qt:Tool hint.

As a matter of fact I tried that myself, removing the Qt:Tool hint made Yakuake
available in the task switcher list.

[yakuake] [Bug 441067] New: Yakuake is no longer available in the task switcher list

2021-08-16 Thread Danail Branekov

Bug ID: 441067
Summary: Yakuake is no longer available in the task switcher
list
   Product: yakuake
   Version: 21.08.0
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

  Target Milestone: ---

Hello,

After upgrading Yakuake to 21.08.0 I noticed that the Yakuake window is no
longer available in the task switcher list. The way I use Yakuake is just like
any other regular window, I would expect to be able to alt-tab to it once it
goes into the background.

Here are my Yakuake settings: https://i.imgur.com/XVqW0TS.png

Here is how I expect Yakuake to appear in the task switcher list:
https://i.imgur.com/smzUtUU.png

What actually happens is that Yakuake is not available on the task switcher and
I cannot navigate with alt-tab once it goes in the background.

I have bisected the commits history and found out that the commit that causes
Yakuake to disappear from the task switcher list is

Fix Yakuake icon appearing in taskbar through Qt::Tool window flag

So far we've been setting _NET_WM_STATE_SKIP_TASKBAR ourselves, but
Qt messes with this, leading to race conditions where it still
appears in the taskbar. This sets the Qt::Tool window flag, which
will set it via Qt itself, and won't be clobbered. An old hack has
been removed, as it isn't needed anymore.

Also makes show animation match retract animation.

On 210815 I applied outstanding openSUSE maintenance to my system (zypper log
is atached) and rebooted. I loaded and played a DVD in the normal desktop
manner (load DVD in the drive, wait for the device notifier, select the VLC
player and play the DVD). Everything proceeded normally.

No other changes were applied to my system.

On 210816 I loaded another DVD in the drive expecting the device notifier NOT
to appear. However, the device notifier did appear and provide all the choices
I expected. I was able to play the DVD normally and unload it when complete. I
then attempted to reload the DVD. The device notifier reappeared as it should
and I was able to select the VLC played again.

[Akonadi] [Bug 441066] New: Gmail Tasks/Kontact Todo's not syncing properly

2021-08-16 Thread Doug
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441066

Bug ID: 441066
Summary: Gmail Tasks/Kontact Todo's not syncing properly
   Product: Akonadi
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Gmail resource
  Assignee: dvra...@kde.org
  Reporter: dougjsha...@gmail.com
CC: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
"Task" items created in Gmail outside of Kontact (ie web interface or Android's
Calendar widget) are not appearing in Kontact's Calendar or To-do list
sections.

"Todo" items created in Gmail in Kontact are appearing in the Gmail account
outside of Kontact as "Task" items properly. But if they are then marked as
completed outside of Kontact, that status change is not reflected in Kontact.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have a Gmail account and connect it to Kontact
2. Create a "Task" item in Gmail's web interface
3. Check the Calendar and To Do List tabs in Kontact- observe no "Todo" items
4. Create a "Todo" item in Kontact. Mark it complete in Gmail's web interface.
5. Observe that it is not changed in Kontact

OBSERVED RESULT
Additions or changes to "Tasks" made outside Kontact are not reflected in
Kontact.

EXPECTED RESULT
Changes made outside of Kontact should be reflected in Kontact.

I don't know whether it affects the Wayland session. I'll have to read up on

In this setup starting sessions with the lid closed leaves the

I enable the display, and perform the operation a few times,
however, I have no knowledge how to get the kwin backtrace,
so if you can point me the right info I surely want to provide

[Akonadi] [Bug 421664] Sending email does not work with XOAUTH2

2021-08-16 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421664

I've been having the issue since I installed openSUSE Leap 15.2. After upgrade
to 15.3 the problem is still there.

What helps is to turn on "Less secure app access" in the Google account
settings and in KMail switch the authentication for sending mail from XOAUTH2
to PLAIN.

This unfortunately lowers the security. More on this here:
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255?p=less-secure-apps=en_id=637647624340977026-1695581600=1#zippy=,if-less-secure-app-access-is-on-for-your-account,update-your-app-or-operating-system,use-more-secure-apps,use-an-app-password

The bug is more than a year old now. Any expectation to get it fixed? I'd be
happy to report the bug to openSUSE once it's solved upstream so it can be
backported to openSUSE Leap.

Git commit 6557286abe4200f72ab6964079d38f7c7348b13a by Nate Graham.
Committed on 12/08/2021 at 15:50.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'.

Let the user choose Bluetooth status on login

Currently there is no way for the user to choose whether Bluetooth is on
or off at login. Instead, it is decided automatically for them by the
presence or absence of the `AutoEnable=true` key in /etc/bluetooth/main.conf.
This is a root-owned file that does not permit user configuration if it
is shipped by a distro, because it will be blown away on the next system
update.

This commit adds a GUI to allow the user to determine the Bluetooth
status on login: always enabled, always disabled, or remember the
previous status. The default is to remember the previous status, with
the initial status on first boot being determined by the distro's
default value in the /etc/bluetooth/main.conf config file if present; if
not present, bluez's own default value is "disabled". Regardless,
thereafter the enablement status on boot will be determined by Bluedevil.

Implementation-wise, this is accomplished by adding support in the KDED
module for reading a new config file key set by the KCM which controls
what do do with Bluetooth when launched. It already has support for
saving and restoring status when the system goes to sleep and wakes up;
this was extended for shutdown/startup events too.

I'm getting this behavior too, both on my desktop and laptop. However, I
managed to stop the slowdowns by quickly switching to a TTY and running `pkill

[krita] [Bug 441063] New: Cannot maximize Krita flatpak in Gnome

2021-08-16 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441063

Bug ID: 441063
Summary: Cannot maximize Krita flatpak in Gnome
   Product: krita
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Usability
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: liltizi...@biyac.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
The title.
I use the Wayland (default) session of gnome.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log into the wayland session of Gnome 40.3.
2. Install flatpak, add the "flathub" remote (I'm using it with under the
"--user" flag FWIW). Install krita: "flatpak install flathub org.kde.krita -y"
3. "flatpak run org.kde.krita" to run it. Once the program opens try to
maximize it. The maximize button may be visible the first time you run it, but
once you click, drag or resize the window, it will disappear.

OBSERVED RESULT
Cannot maximize Krita on Gnome 40.

EXPECTED RESULT
Be able to maximize it.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Fedora Silverblue
Krita 4.4.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I think that this isn't Gnome's fault since another qt apps work as expected
here, including KDE apps like Kdenlive.

A bit off-topic but Krita flatpak is very glitchy and kinda unusable here on
Gnome, but I'm not willing to report all of them right now.

Hi Piotr and Charis,

Thank you for getting the logcat records.

The bug you're both hitting

> Attempt to read from field 'java.lang.String
> org.kde.kdeconnect.Helpers.TelephonyHelper$LocalPhoneNumber.number' on a null
> object reference

Has already been fixed but is not yet in the release version:
https://invent.kde.org/network/kdeconnect-android/-/merge_requests/258

As I say in the PR comment, I don't know for sure how the new code will behave,
but it will not crash which is certainly better than crashing.

Please feel free to try the new version from
https://binary-factory.kde.org/view/Android/job/kdeconnect_android/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/kdeconnect-android/build/outputs/apk/debug/
(you'll need to uninstall your old one, since the debug release is signed with
a different key).

I'd be very happy for you both (and anybody else silently reading this) to run
the new version and get the logcat records and report whether or not it works!

[kdeconnect] [Bug 441062] New: Unnecessary daemon reload makes logout process longer when exiting Plasma session

2021-08-16 Thread Timothy B
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441062

Bug ID: 441062
Summary: Unnecessary daemon reload makes logout process longer
when exiting Plasma session
   Product: kdeconnect
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: common
  Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: yule2...@live.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 140784
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=140784=edit
Journal log at logout

SUMMARY
In a Plasma session, kdeconnectd (the KDE Connect daemon) gets automatically
(re)launched by DBus immediately after the user logs out or initiates a
shutdown, causing the logout process to be delayed.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make sure that KDE Connect is installed in the system and already set up
2. Log out or shut down from Plasma as usual

OBSERVED RESULT
Immediately after the user clicks on "Log Out" or "Shutdown" in Plasma, the KDE
Connect daemon is relaunched by DBus, as shown in the included journal log. As
a result, the logout process gets delayed, i.e. the session would be stuck at a
blank screen with a movable cursor longer than the user would expect, sometimes
around 30 seconds or more.

EXPECTED RESULT
KDE Connect and its tray icon would exit as soon as the user clicks one of the
aformentioned session control buttons, and its daemon doesn't get relaunched as
the user logs out. The session would exit sooner than observed and therefore it
spends less time at a blank screen.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Connect Version: 21.08.0
Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.84.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.13.6-1-MANJARO (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core Processor
Memory: 15.6 GiB of RAM

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The session exited immediately when I switched to a TTY and ran `pkill
kdeconnectd`, confirming the culprit of the long delays with logging out.

The attached journal log has QML and XCB error messages removed for your
convenience.

[Heaptrack] [Bug 439897] Heaptrack produces impossible/incorrect stack traces

2021-08-16 Thread Matt Whitlock
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=439897

(In reply to Milian Wolff from comment #5)
> can you please try the latest master and see if you are still seeing this
> breakage?

Yes, that fixed it. I no longer get nonsense traces in Heaptrack, and I
actually managed to find and patch that leak in plasmashell!

> Quite frankly, I'm super stumped by this breakage as I mentioned in the
> commit message for the workaround I implemented now...

I think it should be expected that the instruction pointer addresses that are
on the stack should point at the instruction just after the call instruction,
as that's how the hardware works. (The call instruction pushes the address of
the *next* instruction before branching to the target of the call. That saves
having to re-decode the call instruction upon later return from the subroutine
to determine how large the call instruction's operand is and thus where the
next instruction begins.)

> I just wonder how it could ever have worked at this
> stage. Considering how many people have used heaptrack in the past...

Maybe Heaptrack's stack traces have been "good enough," or maybe libunwind used
to adjust the IPs in the stack trace to point at the call instructions but
stopped doing that at some point.

Technically, I am not sure that subtracting a constant 1 from the addresses is
quite valid, as then you'll end up pointing at part of the call instruction's
operand rather than at the call instruction's opcode, but maybe that's good
enough to determine an accurate source code location for the function call.

This is a multi-part bug. the brightness OSD has no special positioning logic

position the OSD. Tricker than it seems.

Plasma is not actually involved at all here; moving to powerdevil.
